Hafsah bint Umar رضي الله عنهم (S11) In the case of a revocable divorce; only the husband can take back the woman during the iddah (Surah 2:228) However, after the iddah, if the husband wants the woman back, he must go through the entire marriage procedure again - I.e Nikkah, Mahr etc. Witness are needed when calling for a divorce or when calling the woman back - not having any witnesses means you have left the sunnah, however the divorce is still valid. The sunnah time to call for divorce should be when the woman is not menstruating, and when the man has not been intimate with her - a mercy from Allah (s.w.t) - so as to not be rash and act on emotion. Just as our Messenger's ﷺ love increased for Abdullah Ibn Um Mukhtoom رضي الله عنه after the Surah Abasa situation, his ﷺ love increased for Hafsah رضي الله عنها when he took her back after divorcing her. She along with Aisha رضي الله عنهم were the ones to look after our Messenger ﷺ when he was ill at the end of his life. Although Aisha and Hafsah رضي الله عنهم were young when the greatest of creation ﷺ left this world - Allah (s.w.t) still gave them the status of being mothers… of the believers! Although they had no biological children, they have us - billions in number.

Susan Altman, Professor and Assistant Chairperson in the Visual, Performing and Media Arts Department at Middlesex College, Erika Mahr an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at SUNY Westchester Community College, and Steve Rossi an Assistant Professor and Sculpture Program Head at St. Joseph's University discuss their shared experiences related to the many benefits and challenges of teaching studio art to non-majors. Susan Altman is a Professor and Assistant Chairperson in the Visual, Performing and Media Arts Department at Middlesex College where she teaches courses in drawing, painting and printmaking to both majors and non-majors. In addition to her studio teaching, she is the Director of The Center for the Enrichment of Learning and Teaching and where her research interest is in the pedagogy of teaching studio art, as well as improving teaching across the disciplines. As a practicing artist, her work is focused on drawing and printmaking. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she is the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships including a NYFA Artist Fellowship. She lives and works in New York City. Erika Mahr is an artist and educator based in the Hudson Valley of New York. She is an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at SUNY Westchester Community College and is currently serving as the Department Chair for the Art + Design and Performing Arts Department. Her studio practice explores drawing with an expanded sensibility and is invested in the act of mediation, reducing, and repeating to locate where the ephemeral and concrete intersect, become blurred, and create tension. She earned a BFA from the University of Florida and MFA from Hunter College and is a recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship in Drawing. Born into a family of makers, Steve Rossi developed an intense appreciation and respect for artistic craft and physical labor through growing up around family members making quilts, knitting blankets, repairing houses, and arranging flowers. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute and his MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz. His work has been exhibited at the Maguire Museum, the John Michael Kohler Art Center, the Jules Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts, the Wassaic Project, and the public art festival Art in Odd Places among many others. He has participated in artist residencies with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Vermont Studio Center, and was awarded the Sustainable Arts Foundation fellowship at Gallery Aferro. He is currently an Assistant Professor and Sculpture Program Head at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

It's reasonable to assume that demarcate inspired the noun demarcation—many a noun has been formed by adding the suffix -ion to an existing verb. But in this case you'd also be wrong; demarcation came first, with the verb demarcate following as a back-formation. We can ultimately thank Spanish for both: the Spanish noun demarcación (from demarcar, "to delimit") was used in 1493 to name a meridian dividing New World territory between Spain and Portugal. (A Spanish-born pope chose a meridian that favored Spain greatly.) Centuries later, English speakers began calling this boundary the "line of demarcation," and eventually applied that phrase to other dividing lines as well. Can we predict who will develop PTSD? Our guest, Dr. Greg Mahr, studies patients with acute trauma, and he discovered that their dreams in the days and weeks after their injury suggest who will recover fully and who will be mired in PTSD months later. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a condition that occurs after trauma marked by intense nightmares and increased risk of suicide, but only about 30% of those traumatized go on to develop PTSD. In Dr. Mahr's acute trauma center in Detroit, he interviews victims of car accidents and assaults and asks about their dreams in the days immediately after the trauma and finds that experiences of helplessness in their dreams and during their trauma correlate with the development of PTSD. After the traumatic event, nightmares tend to replicate the event exactly, but changes soon develop in those who recover in which the person finds some agency and the dreams eventually start to have happier endings. This mimics the process of IRT, Image Rehearsal Therapy, in which people can deliberately change their nightmares by imagining new versions of the troubling dreams. Dr. Mahr speculates that one of the purposes of dreaming is to encourage us to talk about our traumas and that they help us develop a narrative about the event. We take a question from Amy about how to bring up the topic of nightmares with a doctor and end by talking about post-traumatic growth and the idea that dreams are messages from ourselves. BIO Greg Mahr MD is a psychiatrist, a teacher and a writer. He is director of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dream work and Jungian psychology have been long standing interests of Dr. Mahr. Greg is an avid writer, has published flash fiction and poetry in a variety of medical and literary journals. His poetry chapbook, Open Heart, will be published in March by Celery City Press. Greg is currently collaborating with visionary artist Heather Taylor-Zimmerman. They are producing a set of dream cards and an associated book which will be published later this year by Inner Traditions Press. Chris Drake PhD is the Director of Sleep Research program at Henry Ford Hospital. He has published over 200 clinical papers and has received multiple research grants from the National Institutes of Health for his work on sleep. He is the former Chairman of the National Sleep Foundation and is a section editor for The Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine, the standard textbook used in training programs for physicians specializing in sleep medicine.
