The week of March 5, 2025 on The Metallica Report… We're back at HQ to speak with two vital members of the HQ Audio Crew and arguably the kindest people in the building: Sara Killion and Kent Matcke.  Chief among Sara's many responsibilities as producer Greg Fidelman's trusted studio aide is charting and mapping every sound that Metallica makes while recording. Meanwhile, Kent facilitates audio and technical aspects of rehearsals while also assisting with many other HQ studio matters. Between them and their fastidious attention to detail, nothing is left to chance when it comes to making sure Metallica has the best recording and rehearsal environment possible. Original Airdate 11/23 and 11/30 2016Mark, Jesse and Robert Cooper present their review of Metallica - Hardwired... to Self-Destruct! This was originally a 2-part episode that clocked in over 4 hours total. This is the edit featuring both parts and cuts out all the holiday talk, spotify christmas playlists, Jesse's first listen and ranking of slayer tracks and many of Cooper's odd stories. Also, during the live recording of the disc 2 review, Mark's audio completely crapped out (which led to us leaving BTR in the first place) and all of that was edited out. So now the episode is a lean 2 hours - no plugs!Hardwired... to Self-Destruct is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released as a double album on November 18, 2016, by the band's record label Blackened Recordings. It was Metallica's first studio album in eight years following Death Magnetic (2008), marking the longest gap between studio albums in the band's career, and its first studio album released through Blackened. The album was produced by Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed Death Magnetic.Hardwired... to Self-Destruct was Metallica's sixth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 291,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, and topping the charts in 57 countries. The number one ranking marked only the second time in the chart's history that any band had six consecutive albums debut at number one, following Dave Matthews Band. Hardwired... to Self-Destruct received generally positive reviews from critics, and in 2020, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich ranked the album as the band's best.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

He began his music career in the late '80s as the lead guitarist of his own group, but Greg really hit his stride on the other side of the studio glass about a decade later. This is our first remotely recorded episode. As you may know, we travel for a living in music and we've finally had to record outside of Nashville. In this episode, we're in Detroit and Miami discussing Metallica's latest release, Hardwired...To Self-Destruct. It's strange to dive into a record that's only been out a couple months, but we're so excited about it that we just had to. We go through every track, the lack of Kirk's influence, the return of James' classic vocals, we ask is Greg Fidelman the new Bob Rock and so much more. Feel free to send us your thoughts on Hardwired by emailing us at metalupyourpodcastshow@gmail.com. This week we spoke with music producer Greg Fidelman who recently finished Metallics’s new album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct. This is Metallica's first studio album since 2008 and is not the first time Fidelman has worked with the band. Greg also worked as an engineer and mixer on Death Magnetic and was the co-producer, engineer and mixer on Lulu, the band’s collaboration with the late Lou Reed. He also oversaw the band’s live soundtrack to their first-ever feature film Through The Never. Greg has also worked with other bands such as Slayer, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bush, Audioslave, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, and System of a Down.
