John 4:43-54
Few evangelists have cemented a legacy so fervent that their names and notable moments are still commemorated more than 120 years after their deaths, yet D.L. Moody fits that mold.Moody, who lived from 1837 to 1899, founded transformational institutions that are still around today, including the Moody Church and Moody Bible Institute, both located in Chicago, and the D.L. Moody Center in Northfield, Massachusetts. It was the robust and lively nature of Moody's faith walk that not only inspired his contemporaries but continues to transcend time to galvanize multiple generations. Dr. James Spencer, president of the D.L. Moody Center, recently joined Billy to explain why he was blown away when he saw the intensity of Moody's faith. He also shared a story that should inspire any Christian parent whose child is struggling in the faith.FOLLOW BILLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA:- Follow Billy on Twitter- Follow Billy on Instagram- Follow Billy on Facebook
Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/48909625Following Jesus is hard. Staying with Jesus, obeying him, loving him through thick and thin, listening to him, is really hard. Jesus says things and teaches things that are offensive to every culture, every era and basically every person. So we should not be surprised when Jesus makes us uncomfortable. In fact, if Jesus isn't offending us, isn't challenging us, we probably just are not listening very well. Jesus will offend you. That is honestly part of his strategy to help grow your understanding of the kind of kingdom he is bringing. The wonderful paradox of the Christian faith is that as we deny self we become our real selves. It's important, to be sure, whether or not you can follow Jesus. Don't just ask “can I afford to follow Jesus?” Ask also, “If not Jesus, then who?”22.06.26

Today we are looking at the incredible faith of the criminal on the cross in Luke 23. While everybody else at the scene (who should have had great faith) struggled to understand of believe, the criminal recognizes his own guilt, but more importantly recognizes that Jesus is actually the King. But most importantly, when all seems lost for both Jesus and the criminal is when he makes he most remarkable statement of faith when he asks Jesus to let him join him when he comes into his Kingdom. Certainly we can learn from this example how we too must focus on the eternal Kingdom of God and not our temporary bad circumstances.

From beginning to end the Bible is filled with incredible stories of heroes whose incredible faith in God allowed them to be used by God to save the day. God is using his people today, through their incredible faith, as modern day heroes in the same way. But it's so important to the health of the local church that we be people who are plugged in to God and community. At the center of our faith walk is the joy of giving—and in this understanding the idea of living from a view of abundance instead of scarcity. In particular we'll look at three different kinds of generoisty that leverages abundance. This is all because of what God did for us being generous is our response.

Sometime when we read a famiiar Bible story again and again...new ideas come to mind...that help us see that the "why" matters.
