Most people think they need more motivation. The real problem may be that they are relying on the wrong fuel altogether. In this episode, Mykie Stiller and Arash Vossoughi explore the difference between motivation and drive, and why lasting success depends on more than temporary feelings. Drawing on Arash's own experience, they unpack the shift from relying on bursts of motivation to building the discipline needed for consistent results. The conversation explores the connection between drive and identity, why some goals inspire greater follow-through than others, and how self-belief influences the standards we set for ourselves. Along the way, they challenge common assumptions about consistency and explain why true drive comes from falling in love with an idea rather than forcing yourself to take action. Listen in for practical insights on building momentum that lasts!Key Points From This Episode:The difference between motivation and drive. Why motivation fades while drive creates consistency.Arash's shift from motivation to disciplined action. The decision that changed the trajectory of his life.Signs you're operating from motivation instead of drive. How falling in love with an idea activates drive. The connection between drive, identity, and self-respect.Motivation's role in getting you started. Why commitment matters more than motivation. How limiting beliefs prevent people from accessing their drive. What children can teach us about commitment and desire. Why you need a goal you're truly in love with.Links Mentioned in Today's Episode:Voss Coaching CoVoss Coaching Co on LinkedIn Voss Coaching Co on InstagramVoss Coaching Co on FacebookEmail Voss Coaching CoMykie Stiller on LinkedInMykie Stiller on Instagram Arash Vossoughi on LinkedInArash Vossoughi on YouTube
The Truth About Staying Consistent Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results. So we come to the middle of the year. You're either out of inspiration, or motivation is struggling, or the activities have been up and down or not as consistent. I saw this great infographic recently, and it says, here's what people think consistency is. And it shows a bunch of glasses, cups, and they're filled right to the top with fluid. And they said, but here's what consistency actually is. And they show the same dozen cups. One's full, one's half, one's got a drop in it. One's three quarters, next one's full, next one's half. And basically the message is, if you're taking some action at each day, that's consistency. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be progress. Like and follow this podcast so you can learn more. My name is Carl Gould and this has been your #70secondCEO.

I also break down why you might not be losing weight—even if you're eating “healthy”—and how to build a routine that lasts. Dr. Killeen reflects on a quote from Charlie Munger and how the idea of waiting applies far beyond investing. In a dental practice, real success rarely comes from big moments or quick wins. It comes from consistently doing the simple, often repetitive things that move the practice forward. Weekly meetings, morning huddles, and ongoing conversations with your team may not feel exciting, but they are what shape culture and drive long term growth. Over time, those small actions begin to compound and create meaningful change. Patience and consistency often matter more than chasing the next big idea. Steady effort, repeated over time, is what builds a strong and successful practice.

Hey hey beautiful human! This one is for the mom who made it through the newborn stage, finally feels like herself again, and is still somehow struggling to stay consistent with her health and fitness. Because here is what nobody tells you. The school age years are their own kind of hard. Your schedule is no longer just yours to manage. It is dictated by school start times, pickup windows, sick days, and a never ending stream of things that need your attention right now. And the strategies that worked before kids, or even in early postpartum, were never designed for this season. So if you have been blaming your discipline, stop. This is not a you problem. It is a season problem. And in this episode I am giving you three practical systems for staying consistent when your schedule belongs almost entirely to everyone else. What's Discussed: Why this is a season problem and not a discipline problem The definition of consistency that is making women in this season feel like they are failing when they are actually not How to anchor your workout to something that already exists in your day Why shrinking your workout before skipping it changes everything Why the movement that does not look like a workout counts more than you think What to take away from today and how to stop letting a disrupted week convince you to quit Ready to find a program that makes it easy to show up consistently even on the weeks when life is full? In today's episode of the Recover to Flourish podcast, we're talking about something that doesn't get said enough — what to do when you just don't feel motivated to recover. When you know what you should be doing, but you don't want to do it. Or you feel flat, stuck, or even a bit numb.If that's you, I want you to know this straight away… it doesn't mean you're failing. It doesn't mean you don't want recovery. It usually just means you're tired, scared, or overwhelmed. In this episode, we'll talk about why motivation comes and goes, why waiting to “feel ready” can keep you stuck, and how to keep moving forward even when you don't feel like it. Because recovery isn't built on motivation. It's built on small, repeated actions, especially on the days you'd rather not.We cover: Why low motivation is a normal part of recovery How to take action without relying on motivation Small, realistic ways to keep going when everything feels hard You don't need to feel inspired to recover. You just need to keep showing up, even in a small way. And that still counts.Let me know your thoughts! Most organizing advice focuses on where to start or how to declutter (which we cover on this show often), but what doesn't get enough attention — and often makes the biggest difference — are the small systems that make everyday life easier to maintain. Recently I was invited to consult on an organizing project for a nonprofit in Boston, and one word kept coming up over and over again: function. Not just how things look, but how they actually work for the people using the space. It made me reflect on what we've been working toward in our own home too — creating systems that support how we actually live in this season, not just how we want things to look. In this episode I'm sharing 10 small organizing changes we've made that are reducing daily stress and making life run a little smoother. Nothing dramatic and definitely nothing perfect — just practical adjustments that are working right now. Praying you find clarity in your next steps!
Why does eating less and working out harder not work for most women? You're doing all the right things to lean out for summer, but it just doesn't seem to be getting you the results you want. The scale doesn't move, you're exhausted from trying everything, and you're on a cycle of always trying to lose weight. In today's episode, were going to dive into Part 1 of the Summer Shred Series and Your 8-weeks to your fittest summer. I want you to understand the real steps you have to take to experience a transformation and the headspace and mindset you have to understand first, before the transformation can take place. Fitness and nutrition aren't new concepts; there is information out there on how to see results, but you're still stuck. So what gives? I don't think it's an information problem. I think it's an accountability and implementation problem. So let's get you the results you want once and for all, and teach you how to maintain them. If you’re in the early stages, scaling a growing team, or redefining what success looks like for you, this episode is packed with perspective, strategy, and real-world wisdom from leaders who’ve lived it. I’ll be talking about: [00:04:18] 10 Years in Network Marketing – From Zero to 100k+ Team [00:10:03] What to Focus on When You Only Have 3–10 People [00:16:33] Building Trust & Duplication from Day One [00:21:21] Why Their Weekly Trainings Attract 3,000+ Live Attendees [00:31:54] Are Facebook Ads Right for Everyone? Their goal: to awaken the world's citizens to their true potential, and to leave the world a better place. No small task! By creating an online system and community that provides all of the sales tools, systems, training, and products required to start a successful business online - Mike and Darren have created a hybrid-type business. They have successfully combined the key benefits from franchise, affiliate, and network marketing models all into one simple package that maximizes results. “This business is simple… but not easy. Believing in yourself and committing to putting in the time to learn something new is more challenging for some than others.” For those that are ready though, starting an online business and being self employed is something that is finally achievable - as can be clearly seen by the fact that Darren and Mike’s online community of business owners now includes thousands of people from all over the globe. “Make sure that you're not just posting and running away.” –Nina FroriepHow do we start to use LinkedIn in a really smart way? I'll admit I have mixed feelings, but I'm trying to embrace it. There's no one better to help do that than Nina Froriep, a content + engagement strategist and a LinkedIn personal brand builder. My first aha from Nina — LinkedIn likes and rewards consistency and engagement. It's not enough to just put stuff out there. You really want to engage with people who comment on your posts and go like or comment on others. You want to keep the conversation going. You need to be there. You need a professional presence that tells who you are and what you do. Nina and I dig into how much and how to make the most of that time. We talk about: Engagement can go along way even without posting (and why you should still post)What the algorithm rewards nowHow often to post and how to get more engagementCreating an editorial calendar to balance thought leadership and eventsEasy ways to add content that engagesReusing what you haveABOUT NINANina is a LinkedIn™ featured LinkedIn Brand Builder and a Content and Engagement Strategist for Creators, Coaches + Consultants. She works with service-based entrepreneurs and visual artists to create strategies and digital content so they can grow their companies organically and elevate the conversations they're having in their areas of expertise.Nina is a “recovering” film producer and documentary filmmaker. She's seen it all, from the early days on independent features to big national TVcommercials, corporate mega-shows, and Emmy award-winning documentaries, including one she produced and directed called Abraham's Children.Nina is a visual artist, and loves spending time outdoors, especially in her native Switzerland, with her owner Tigger, an 11-pound Dachshund mix who has her well trained.LINKShttps://clockwiseproductions.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/nina-froriep/DOABLE CHANGESAt the end of every episode, we share three doable changes, so you can take what you've heard and put it into action. Action is where change happens.Even though we want big change, it's really little things done over and over that make the difference. So pick a doable thing. Put it in your calendar. Weave it through your days for a week and then move on to the next one. It will have a snowball effect. Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:BE CONSISTENT. Pick two days a week to post and do it every week. Put it in your calendar. Block off the time to write it. Get it out there.ENGAGE. Keep the conversation going. Go comment (18 words or more!) on posts by people you know. Respond to comments on your posts. Respond to another commenter. Build real engagement. Struggle to post consistently? Show up and engage consistently first.ASK A QUESTION. Ask smart questions. Ask people which of three covers they like and why. You can use a question as a post or at the end of a post. You can reply to a comment with a question. Give people something to respond to.

BUILDING BUSINESSES, STAYING CONSISTENT & THE REAL JOURNEY
In this Live in the Tribe, I talk about why some people stay consistent with their fitness for years while others fall off after just a few months. Around this time of year, most New Year's resolutions have already failed, so I break down what actually needs to change if you want your results to last. It's not about motivation, it's about behavior change.I walk through the stages of the behavioral change model, why accountability is one of the most powerful tools for staying on track, and how fitness eventually becomes part of your identity when you do it long enough. If you want to stop starting over and finally build consistency that lasts, this episode will help you understand what actually makes that happen. And if you want to transform your body, message me the word "Coaching" on IG at Tomthetrainerfitness, Facebook at Tom Mouland to book a Free Strategy Call to apply for coaching.Have the best day ever! SummaryIn this Q&A episode, Chase and Chris talk about why progress sometimes stalls and why it is usually not a real plateau. Most of the time, it comes from saying “yes” too often to food, events, and habits that do not match your goals. They explain that sometimes you need a short season of saying “no” more often to build momentum. That does not mean saying no forever. It means being more careful for a few weeks so you can see real progress again. They also answer questions about working third shift and how to manage sleep, stress, and food when your schedule is flipped upside down. They share tips on protecting your sleep, planning meals, and managing cravings.Next, they talk about muscle soreness when lifting heavy. They explain what is normal, how to recover faster, and what to do about leg cramps at night. Finally, they clear up confusion about creatine. They break down how much you actually need, why consistency matters more than high doses, and why you do not need fancy versions marketed differently.Chapters(00:00) Are You Saying Yes Too Often? If you are disciplined, driven, and proud of your consistency, this episode might hit closer than you expect. Rick Jordan shares a personal moment that forced him to confront a hard truth. Pushing through pain and ignoring signals does not always make you stronger. Sometimes it just makes the recovery longer. This conversation is about learning when consistency means showing up, and when consistency means stepping back. It is about presence, intention, and respecting the rhythms that actually sustain performance over time.
What Does a Perfect Bowling Game Have in Common With Top-Performing Sales Reps? Walk into a bowling alley on a Friday night, and you'll see a scene that looks like pure recreation. The crash of pins, the rumble of conversation, the squeak of shoes on the approach. But beneath all that noise is something far more serious: discipline, repetition, emotional control, and the relentless pursuit of mastery. That's the real game. And it's the exact game top performers play in sales. Selling rewards consistency, mental toughness, and the willingness to execute the fundamentals long after everyone else has checked out. When you break the sport of bowling down frame by frame, it mirrors what we teach every day at Sales Gravy. Fanatical Prospecting. Emotional control. Owning your process. Staying steady under pressure. Winning one shot at a time. Each frame reveals a truth about the way elite sellers think and operate. Frame 1: The Approach — Fanatical Prospecting In bowling, the shot starts before the ball ever moves. The routine is deliberate: same steps, same breath, same commitment. That's where consistency begins. In sales, your approach is prospecting. It's the moment you decide whether you're a professional or a hobbyist. Pros don't wait for a pipeline crisis. They build a non-negotiable daily rhythm of fanatical prospecting, exactly the way Jeb teaches it. “One more call. One more conversation. One more connection.” That mindset is your approach. That's the discipline that separates a bowler stepping onto the lane with purpose from the one sitting at the bar making excuses. You pick a target, commit, and move. Frame 2: The Lane — Owning Your Sales Process A lane looks the same every time, but it rarely plays the same. Oil patterns shift. Friction changes. Conditions evolve. Your sales process is no different. You can't control a buyer's internal politics or shifting priorities, but you can control how you move through your process. You can control your cadence, your discovery, your follow-up, and your commitment to advancing every opportunity with intention. Average sellers blame the lane. Pros read it. They ask better questions. They recognize where deals stall. They adjust without abandoning the fundamentals. The arrows exist to guide the ball; your process exists to guide you. Ignore it, and you drift straight into the gutter. Frame 3: The Ball — Your Message and the Triangle of Trust A bowler's ball is drilled to fit their hand, weighted for their style, and chosen for the conditions. Your ball is your message—your story, your questions, your ability to connect what you sell to what the buyer actually cares about. When you balance logic, emotion, and values, the ball rolls true. Most sellers throw the same generic pitch at every buyer. Pros tune their message. They refine their openings. They speak the buyer's language. Hit with too much emotion and no substance, you lose credibility. Hit with pure logic and no emotional relevance, you miss the pocket of influence. The goal is simple: strike emotion first, let logic clean up the rest. Frame 4: The Pins — Prospects, Objections, and Physics Pins obey physics. They aren't out to get you. Prospects are the same. Some fall quickly. Some require finesse. Some need a second shot. This is where many sellers unravel emotionally. They take objections personally. They turn one “no” into a story about themselves. Objections aren't judgment. They're feedback. “We're happy with our current vendor.”“Call me next quarter.” Objections are indicators, and tell you where your angle is off. Pros adjust. Ask a different question. Reframe the problem. Bring a story that hits harder. Then take another shot. The frame isn't over until you quit. Frame 5: The Shoes — Mindset and Emotional Control No one bowls in street shoes. You'll slip, lose balance, and go down hard. Your mindset is your pair of bowling shoes. Without emotional control, every call feels unstable. Every objection knocks you off center. Every tough moment spirals. Pros prepare their mind before they prepare their day. They visualize tough conversations. They decide how they'll respond to setbacks before they happen. They choose composure over reaction. A confident mind produces a confident delivery. Buyers feel both. Frame 6: The Equipment — Tech as an Amplifier, Not a Crutch Pros carry multiple balls, tape, tools—gear that helps them adjust and stay consistent. None of it bowls for them. Sales is full of tools too: CRMs, AI, sequencing engines, dialers. But tools only multiply effort. They never replace it. Weak sellers hide behind technology. Pros use it to increase conversations and stay organized. Tools help you understand the “oil pattern” of your territory. But at the end of the day, it's still you, a buyer, and a conversation. No technology closes deals for you. Frame 7: The Team — Culture and Accountability Bowling looks individual, but leagues win seasons. Behind every high average is a team pushing each other, challenging complacency, and celebrating progress. Sales is the same. Great cultures are built around coaching, accountability, and emotional safety. Teams share insights, review calls, and collaborate on tough deals. When someone hits a strike, everyone feels the lift. When someone struggles, the team rallies. You're competing, but you're not competing against each other. You're competing against your potential. Frame 8: The Scoreboard — Metrics and Truth The scoreboard doesn't lie. It doesn't care how busy you felt. It only reflects execution. Your sales scoreboard measures the same: dials, conversations, opportunities created, conversion rates. These numbers are feedback tools. High performers study them. They adjust mechanics, behavior, and cadence based on the data. You can't manage what you don't measure. Frame 9: The Follow-Through — Closing with Composure A bowler's follow-through is controlled and deliberate. The ball is gone, but the motion stays disciplined. Closing requires the same composure. Many sellers execute well early in the cycle. Then, at the moment of truth, they flinch. They rush. They soften. Pros stay steady. They recap value clearly. They ask directly and confidently. They handle final concerns without panic. Closing is the natural output of a disciplined process. Frame 10: The Final Frame — Finishing Strong with Follow-Up The tenth frame separates casual bowlers from champions. Tired, under pressure, and out of margin for error, pros sharpen their focus. In sales, the tenth frame is follow-up. It's the week after the demo. The stalled proposal. The buyer who goes quiet. Most sellers mentally check out and tell themselves the wrong story: “If they wanted it, they'd call me.” Pros don't buy that lie. Deals are won in the follow-up—professional, relevant, value-driven persistence. That's where reliability is proven. The Game That Never Ends Sales doesn't have a perfect 300 game every time. Some days everything strikes clean. Some days, you grind for spares. Some days, the ball finds the gutter no matter how good your form feels. The separator is what you do next. Pros study the lane. They adjust their feet. They breathe. They get back on the approach and commit to the next shot with the same intensity as the first. So as you head into your day, think like a bowler playing the long game. Lace up your mindset. Respect your process. Choose your message with intention. Read your buyers the way pros read the lanes. Lean on your team. Track your scoreboard. And never cheat the follow-through. The pins are set. The lane is open. You've always got one more frame. Step up with purpose. Roll with confidence. And when in doubt, make one more call. Ready to take your sales game to the next frame? Build discipline, track your process, and crush your goals with the FREE Sales Gravy Goal Guide. “We're happy with our current vendor.” “Call me next quarter.” Objections are indicators, and tell you where your angle is off. In this solo episode, I explore The Progress Principle, a concept discovered by two Harvard researchers who studied what really drives happiness and motivation. After analyzing thousands of daily journal entries, they found that the single biggest factor that keeps people inspired isn't recognition, money, or praise—it's the feeling of making progress. In this episode, I share how the tiniest forward motion sends a signal to the brain that says, “This feels good, do it again.” This isn't just a nice mindset trick— it's a complete rewiring of your brain's reward system. Our brains are generally wired to miss our own progress. We adapt so quickly to improvements that yesterday's dream becomes today's baseline. We also have a negativity bias; our minds cling to what's not working instead of what is. The result? We feel stuck, unmotivated, or like we're not doing enough, even when we're growing in extraordinary ways. I share exactly how to override that mental wiring with simple, science-backed tools so you can stay consistent and actually achieve your goals. What You'll Learn: Why dopamine isn't about reward-it's about momentum. The “Done List” method that helps you reflect on and record your daily micro wins. How celebration strengthens new habits by pairing progress with positive emotion. Why asking someone else to reflect on your growth can transform your self-perception. How to reframe the “arrival fallacy” so you find joy in the journey, not just the finish line. I'll also walk you through my own story! How a conversation with my therapist sister changed how I think about effort and self-worth, and how acknowledging my small wins made me feel more capable, calm, and genuinely proud of my progress for the first time in years. If you've ever felt like you're spinning your wheels, constantly setting goals and falling off track, or measuring yourself against an impossible version of success, this episode is for you. ✨ Homework: Pause for a moment today and write down three small things you've accomplished…no matter how ordinary they seem. Maybe you sent an email you've been avoiding, made a healthy meal, or got out of bed on a hard morning. That's progress. That's growth. That's the chemistry of momentum in real time.
