Today we're talking to Courtland Allen, the founder of Indie Hackers, a primarily online community for independent entrepreneurs. By “independent” I mean these are people who are building businesses that make their money from customers. (They're not backed by investors.) What started as 150 personal emails to Courtland's friends and some strangers has grown today to a community of more than 60,000 entrepreneurs. He then took the program national to improve performance organization wide. ​ In 1994 he became a founding team member of EXA Travel in Miami and took on the role of Director of Training.  The organization began with 11 regional offices.  Within 2 years the company grew to over 2000 branch offices and went public. Following the success of the EXA, Terry embarked on a series of successful partnerships involving turning around performance: ​ • Recruited by Radio shack to rehabilitate store performance one by one. • Joined Century 21 as the Director of Recruiting and later named Sales Manager In December 2005, Terry chose to return to his true passion  helping Independent Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners plan, launch and develop their businesses.
