Fr. Joseph Crowley is in awe of possible Eucharistic Miracle that occurred during Mass on March 5, 2023.
Venerable Fulton J. Sheen continues inspiring pro-life and pro-family leaders in the United States, Canada, and across the world as the Culture of Life confronts the radical abortion and progressive LGBT lobbies intent on establishing the New World Order. Fortunately, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen left pro-lifers a powerful gift, the Spiritual Adoption Prayer for Unborn Babies. As pro-life heroes raise their voices to God for the unborn, a new Eucharistic Miracle may have occurred in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Fr. Joseph Crowley, pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish and St. Thomas Church in Thomaston, Connecticut, has reported that the Eucharist miraculously replicated during the Holy Mass. What can this possible Eucharistic Miracle mean? Then, notable conservative talk show hosts Dennis Prager — founder of PragerU — and the Daily Wire's Jordan Peterson recently shocked the conservative world by seeming to justify occassional uses of pornography. Adult films have no place in the Culture of Life, no conservative host should justify pornography to any degree. Now, LifeSite journalist Matt Lamb unpacks all of this and more with LifeSite Editor-in-Chief, John-Henry Westen on this episode of The John-Henry Westen Show.HELP US FIGHT THE CENSORSHIP OF BIG TECH: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=acastSHOP ALL YOUR FUN AND FAVORITE LIFESITE MERCH!https://shop.lifesitenews.com/Follow us on social media: LifeSite: https://linktr.ee/lifesitenewsJohn-Henry Westen: https://linktr.ee/jhwesten Hosted on Acast. Executive Director of Justice Democrats Alexandra Rojas joins us to talk about the organization's instrumental role in recruiting and running young progressive candidates and how they're rewriting the rules for what a political leader looks like. Justice Democrats is the group behind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez' historic 2018 victory against 10-term Democratic incumbent Joseph Crowley, as well as freshman Representative Summer Lee's historic 2022 victory to become the first Black Congresswoman from Pennsylvania. Alexandra recounts AOC's political rise and the role Justice Democrats has been playing in revolutionizing U.S. electoral politics. Alexandra also shares her own story, including why she dropped out of community college to work on Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign. On this episode of PB&J we look at what the fuss is all about and how this woman who came from out of nowhere is now shaping the national conversation. Brian and Jake also take some time to look over AOC's "Green New Deal" and what it would mean for democrats and the nation. www.PBandJpod.comwww.patreon.com/pbandjpodSocial media: @pbandjpod
In our intro, we talk about DSA member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ stunning defeat of Democratic incumbent and party boss Joseph Crowley in the June 26 NY primaries. We discuss how Cortez’ victory shows the desire for an alternative to the establishment Democrats as well as a tide of enthusiasm for socialism. We also talk about the challenges she’ll face as a socialist trying to navigate the shark-infested waters of the Democratic Party. We touch on some of the debates amongst socialists about how to approach the Democratic Party and how and whether we need to create our own party. Our intro ran longer than usual this week, but we hope that this will be the start to an ongoing discussion around the elections in the coming months. In our interview, we talk to Alex Vitale about his book, The End of Policing (Verso Books) (http://bit.ly/VitaleBook). Vitale is a professor of sociology and coordinator of the policing and social justice project at Brooklyn College. His writings have appeared in the New York Times, NY Daily News, USA Today, the Nation and Vice News. For more information about his writings as well as his public appearances and other news, check out his website (http://bit.ly/VitaleWeb). The rise of the Black Lives Matter movement has produced widespread recognition of police abuse and prompted demands for reform. At the same time, groups like the Black Youth Project http://bit.ly/BYPBOR) and the Movement for Black Lives (http://bit.ly/MBLBOR) have questioned the relationship between intensive policing, structural racism and deeper patterns of inequality. Vitale argues that we should question the very nature and purpose of the police as an instrument for social control. He suggests that the answer is not better policing, but an end to policing itself. In our discussion, we talk about why the various reforms being proposed do not address the problems with policing. Vitale recounts the origins of the modern police as part of England’s colonial subjugation of Northern Ireland and the need to monitor the free movement of urban slaves in Charleston, South Carolina. We also talk about why policing has become even more intensive and violent in the last few decades as part of a bipartisan political project and in response to heightened levels of inequality. Vitale argues that if we want to address the real issues that policing purports to address, then we need large-scale structural reforms to address inequality and racism. In the last part of our discussion, we get into the strategic questions about how to build a movement against the criminal injustice system, how calls for prison abolition fit into that, and the work and demands that some of the organizations leading around this issue are raising. Election Results in N.Y.C. Indicate Political Backlash Trump has already said that he's "Made America Great Again", so whatever problems he inherited, he's already claimed to have solved, which means any problems that arise now are brand new, under Trump's watch, and he and the Republicans are going to take the blame. An early warning sign of just how big a disaster this can be arrived yesterday in a N.Y.C. Congressional primary. You had a 10-term incumbent Democrat - the guy's been in Congress for 20 years. These guys are impossible to get rid of - trying to get rid of them is like trying to get rid of herpes. Joseph Crowley had been unopposed for 14 years. 28-year old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to be, if she wins, will be the youngest woman ever elected to the House of Representatives. She is a former bartender with no real political experience other than being a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. They believe in the abolition of capitalism in favor of an economy run by either the workers or the government. Oil Prices Prop up DJIA, but not Broader Markets Even the surge in oil stocks was not enough to keep the U.S. stock market in the black today. The Dow Jones finished in the red by 165 points. That is a drop of .68 percent, but the broader markets which don't have the exposure to the energy sector faired much worse. You had the composite down 116 points - 1.5% - and the Russell 2000 down almost 1.7%. Oil prices had a huge day today. They closed off the highs, but still up $1.80. $72.33 per barrel for the price of oil. We did get as high as $73.06 on West Texas earlier today, so this is a new high for the year. Remember, this is what helped the market avoid an 8-day losing streak when we got that 9th day rally, thanks to oil stocks; and I said at that time that I didn't think that was good news for the markets because higher oil prices may be good for companies, but they're not good for the overall economy. They're even higher now and it will be an even bigger drag on the economy. Trade Wars and Deficits Bearish for the Dollar More importantly than the oil price in dollars is the oil price in euros, which continue to weaken against the dollar and other currencies, The dollar index had another strong day. We're back above the 95 handle: 95.26. I think this is where the resistance is for the dollar, so I don't expect much headway above 95 on the dollar index. I still think that the markets have this all wrong; a trade war is not a positive for the dollar. So everybody who is betting that all of these trade tensions escalating is somehow dollar positive, they're wrong. Just as the people who are betting larger budget deficits are dollar bullish. Both of these events are dollar bearish, as the dollar bulls are soon going to find out. Oil Prices Threaten Inflation in the Eurozone In the meantime, the increasing price of oil is going to send Eurozone inflation blowing through the 2% ceiling. I talked about that in this podcast. They don't have a 2% target in the Eurozone, like we supposedly have in the U.S. Here, the Fed is targeting 2%. They've even said they're targeting higher than 2% to be symmetrical around 2%. But in the Eurozone, 2% is the ceiling. That's why Draghi keeps saying we want to get close to, but below 2%, because it's a hard ceiling. Why they're trying to get close to it is beyond me because if you get too close to it you're in danger of going above it.
It’s been a week of historic Supreme Court decisions, continued hostility toward immigrants, and raging debates over what it means to be “civil.” Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal comes back on the show to help us make sense of it all—and to remind people to turn out on June 30 for the nationwide “Families Belong Together” protests. After that, noted civility experts Dan Savage and Rich Smith offer their takes on whether it’s wrong to shun Trump administration apparatchiks at restaurants. They also talk about what it means that 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, just won a huge upset victory against Congressman Joseph Crowley, a major Democratic Party establishment figure, in a New York City primary election. Rich, of course, takes a bow for seeing this millennial victory coming from a long way out. And Dan reveals the shocking truth about his longtime support for the DSA. Finally, Chase Burns talks about one beautiful thing that’ll make you stop cowering under the sheets: a new FX series called Pose, about the drag ball scene in 1980s New York. Plus, as always, the music of Ahamefule J. Oluo.
Preparing for the coming autocracy, Trump talks about pardoning himself. US Ambassador to Germany says he is interested in helping bolster the far-right in Europe. Giuliani tells the Wall Street Journal that Kim Jong Un got “on his hands and knees and begged” American diplomats to come to the June 12 Summit in Singapore as originally planned. That should go over well. Trump disinvites the Philadelphia Eagles after no one from the team was going to show to the white house. No Cake for you! Supreme Court rule that religious baker had the right to not bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. According to a recent report from Zillow Research, the next recession is expected by 2020. Jahan Wilcox, a spokesperson for EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, calls a journalist a “piece of trash” when asked for comment about recent resignations. Conservative Stanford Professor asks his students to do oppo research on a progressive undergraduate student - “get the dirt, he said in emails”. Great piece in the Columbia Journalism Review on class and funding journalism. Bronx Activist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez taking on the Democratic Machine in her challenge of the 4th most powerful Dem in the House, Joseph Crowley. David Koch steps down from Koch Industries and the Koch political machine. UN report says Donald Trump’s administration is forcing millions of Americans into financial ruin and poverty. Senator Scott "Soprano" Wagner resigns from the PA Senate. Wagner’s first political stunt since leaving office involved going into a poor minority community of Philadelphia to browbeat the city because the grass at a local park wasn’t mowed. Scott Wagner compared to The Penguin from Batman? Is that a bridge too far? Is it immature? Have we really lost our sense of decorum? Marcel Groen punches down. PA Promise was introduced on Wednesday (finally). Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is killing political cartoons that are critical of Trump. PA Judge rejects attempts by the Catholic Church to delay publishing a grand jury report about sex abuse by priests and cover-ups by religious leaders. The grand jury report focused on six of eight Catholic dioceses: Allentown, Scranton, Harrisburg, Erie, Greensburg, and Pittsburgh. Philly DSA members join Poor People's Campaign to rally for a healthy environment and health care for all. On today's episode, we were honored to sit down with Dr. Joseph Crowley, the current ADA President! This conversation is one where we had a lot of fun during the show, but also got the bottom of several issues that are going on in the profession. Dr. Crowley was extremely insightful and I believe you all will agree he gives some great answers to our questions! Our profession is truly a great one, but it is also highly respected because of the member support that we have. This is one thing that is important for the future of dentistry and all young dentists alike, and we should always continue to voice our support for each other, in the hope that we can continue to guide this profession into an even brighter future.
