For most of his career, this non-traditional sports broadcaster amplified the personalities of A-list professional athletes using a light-hearted approach. Starting at The Score Television Network (1998-2002 / 2005-2010) with “Cabbie on the Street”, a 5-minute weekly interview segment, using disarming mechanisms and humor, Cabbie Richards was able to unlock the personalities of famous and mercurial stars. Interactions with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, David Ortiz raised his profile and helped to change perceptions of these incredible competitors. Covering the Stanley Cup Finals with a poncho and goggles was a unique perspective on Canada's national sport. At Sportsnet (2002-2005), Richards hosted and produced two weekly half hour magazine shows “NBAXL” and “JZone” which covered the NBA and MLB with features and pop culture segments. Moving to TSN (2011-2019), his interviews segment “Cabbie Presents” appeared on Sportscentre where he fostered relationships with NFL stars including Aaron Rodgers and JJ Watt. Richards' role grew in scope covering the ESPY Awards red carpet 2012-2019, multiple CFL Grey Cup Weekends, movie junkets and as a member of the broadcast team for the 2019 NBA Playoffs for the entire Toronto Raptors Championship run. In the fall of 2019, Cabbie joined a Bleacher Report, working on the portfolio brand B/R Betting in Las Vegas. For most of his career, this non-traditional sports broadcaster amplified the personalities of A-list professional athletes using a light-hearted approach. Starting at The Score Television Network (1998-2002 / 2005-2010) with “Cabbie on the Street”, a 5-minute weekly interview segment, using disarming mechanisms and humor, Cabbie Richards was able to unlock the personalities of famous and mercurial stars. Interactions with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, David Ortiz raised his profile and helped to change perceptions of these incredible competitors. Covering the Stanley Cup Finals with a poncho and goggles was a unique perspective on Canada's national sport. At Sportsnet (2002-2005), Richards hosted and produced two weekly half hour magazine shows “NBAXL” and “JZone” which covered the NBA and MLB with features and pop culture segments. Moving to TSN (2011-2019), his interviews segment “Cabbie Presents” appeared on Sportscenter where he fostered relationships with NFL stars including Aaron Rodgers and JJ Watt. Richards' role grew in scope covering the ESPY Awards red carpet 2012-2019, multiple CFL Grey Cup Weekends, movie junkets and as a member of the broadcast team for the 2019 NBA Playoffs for the entire Toronto Raptors Championship run. In the fall of 2019, Cabbie joined a Bleacher Report, working on the portfolio brand B/R Betting in Las Vegas. Richards hosts the “Squad Ride”, “Group Chat” shows and NBA Bet Stream (on NBA Digital for Turner Sports).
In the first epsisode since I moved to the B-E-A-UTIFUL province of BC, Whistler to be exact I talked with the iconic Cabbie. Cabbie is known for his entertaining interview style which he put on full display for The Score and TSN before ending up in Las Vegas working for Bleacher Report. Cabbie Richards, or as some of you Torontonians may know him as Cabbie on the Streets, is a sports television personality now living in Las Vegas working for Bleacher Report's live betting show. Originally an intern at The Score, Richards hosted five-minute segments called Cabbie on the Street from 2001 to 2002. After leaving The Score, he joined Sportsnet to produce and host the programs NBAXL and J-Zone, before moving back to The Score in 2005, where he again hosted Cabbie on the Street segments, along with Cabbie Unlimited and Cabbie All Stars. Richards also hosted NBA Court Surfing, before leaving the network again on November 30, 2010.
