The state's second-largest public school district says it's seen a slight uptick in coronavirus-related quarantines and has implemented several programs to help students and teachers get through them. More than 400 students and 60 staff members at Lincoln Public Schools have been quarantined so far this week according to the district's COVID dashboard. At Tuesday's board of education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Steve Joel said the challenges related to the pandemic have been better, but aren't over yet.

Episode #10: Dr. Jane Stavem, Superintendent, Sioux Falls School District In today's episode, Todd sat down with Dr. Jane Stavem, the Superintendent of Sioux Falls School District. Dr. Jane Stavem is the Superintendent of the Sioux Falls School District. Dr. Stavem started her career in St. Paul, Minnesota where she taught K-6 music, fifth and sixth grades, gifted education, and served as a building curriculum coordinator. In 2001, she returned to Nebraska and assumed the roles of Elementary Principal and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Columbus Public Schools, Superintendent of Blair Community Schools in Blair, Nebraska and the Associate Superintendent for Instruction for Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to coming to Sioux Falls, Dr. Stavem was the Superintendent of the Lake Washington School District, which included the cities of Redmond, Kirkland, and Sammamish, Washington. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Bethel University, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from the Bethel University, an administrative licensure degree from St. Mary's University, and a doctorate (Ed.D.) in educational administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During her career, she has worked with outstanding teams of educators to launch new programs such as a new Career Academy, and numerous collaborative partnerships supporting innovative teaching and learning initiatives. She was instrumental in redesigning three alternative schools to more effectively serve students in grades PreK-12 with significant behavior needs. Dr. Stavem is a published author in the area of student mobility, and provides ongoing training for schools to develop consistent transition plans and practices. She was named as one of Lincoln's “Inspiring Women” and is a frequent speaker and presenter at local and national conferences.
