In this episode we recap the Men's National Championship tournament! Congratulations to Methodist University for winning back-to-back National Championships. After ending Round 1 in 19th place, they showed amazing resilience to come back and capture their 15th National Title! On the individual side, Lynchburg's Eddie Coffren V wins the title with a birdie on the last hole. It was a close battle with Runner-Up Will Karkoc from Bethel University and 3rd place winner Kevin Mu from Emory. A quick survey of Jo Saxton's life would tell you that she is deeply passionate about developing leaders. Whether it's through speaking, her leadership of the Ezer Collective and Bethel University's “The 25,” her podcast or her books, her mission is easy to see. Fresh off the stage at the 2024 Global Leadership Summit, she sat down with Jason Jaggard to talk about her work, and shared wisdom on what young leaders bring to the workplace and how seasoned leaders can engage this emerging generation.
Shame. Fear. Identity crisis. Our generation—especially young adults and parents—is silently drowning in hidden battles. We long for freedom, yet so often search for it through striving, rituals, or more information. All the while, we navigate deep waters of confusion, facing demonic resistance and relentless cultural pressure. Does God still show up in the chaos? Can Jesus really meet us in our mess—just as He did the woman at the well? And when we finally meet Him — can we still find it in ourselves to wholly and completely surrender to God?In this episode of the Revelations Podcast, host Reagan Kramer welcomes Laurel Bunker: preacher, educator, and spiritual mother to many. With over 30 years of ministry in higher education and nonprofit leadership, Laurel shares her deeply personal journey from performance-based religion to radical intimacy with the Living Word. She opens up about confronting demonic oppression, overcoming self-hatred, and raising daughters in a world flooded with lies.Rooted in the story of the woman at the well, this conversation is a call to lay down shame, reclaim identity, and rise in kingdom authority. If you're weary from the fight, questioning your worth, or longing to hear God's voice again—pause. Take a seat by the well. Encounter Jesus. Surrender to God; drink deeply of His grace and be restored. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode:Gain biblical clarity on how to surrender to God and live fully in “Spirit and Truth,” beyond mere rituals and religion.Understand how shame, demonic influence, and the culture of people-pleasing hinder identity.Learn how a transformational encounter with Jesus breaks lifelong bondage, as told through Laurel Bunker's story.Become Part of Our Mission! I'm giving it all away for Jesus now, you know. We got to redeem the time.”The cultural tension between Jews and Samaritans sets the stage for Jesus' radical act of compassion and revelation. This moment shatters cultural shame and personal guilt, proving Jesus meets people right where they are.[9:01] Transformation and Worship in Spirit and TruthOne conversation with Jesus turns the Samaritan woman into an evangelist to her entire town. Her transformation ripples outward, showing that personal encounters with truth can spark collective revival.According to Laurel, true worship isn't tied to a location or ritual. Instead, we must act our faith through a surrendered, Spirit-filled life.Living in spirit and truth becomes more than theology—it becomes a multiplying force of freedom.[20:25] Challenges and Encouragement for BelieversLegalism, shame, and spiritual burnout are real struggles for modern believers.Laurel shares how her own religious performance led to exhaustion and how encountering Jesus brought lasting freedom.[22:51] Laurel: “I promise you, growing up all the way into my 20s, in my early 20s, I would look at Christ or images of him, or Christ on the cross, and I wouldn't know who- I didn't know who he was.”Wounds from church experiences don't have to write the final chapter of your faith. Healing and purpose remain possible when we surrender to God.Believers are encouraged to live a lifestyle of repentance, humility, and unfiltered honesty before God.[32:28] The Power of the Holy Spirit in Modern TimesThe Holy Spirit isn't a concept confined to the early church—it's a present force guiding and healing today.Laurel shares stories of spiritual breakthrough and reminds believers that revival begins with personal obedience.Following Jesus means actively listening, discerning, and stepping into purpose led by the Spirit. The call is clear: lean into the Holy Spirit's presence and let Him do the work only He can do.[40:49] Addressing Shame and Finding Freedom in ChristShame distorts identity and silences spiritual authority, but it doesn't have the final word. Laurel herself has journeyed through a valley of deep shame — but Christ's love shattered every lie.Freedom came not through hiding, but through confession and grace. Through the relentless pursuit of truth, she was able to surrender to God.Listeners are urged to stop hiding, start healing, and reclaim their place as sons and daughters of the King.[47:20] Reagan: “That's what Jesus does. He unites people. He does so because he's bringing people together through the truth of the gospel.”[48:40] Living a Life of Worship and ServiceBeing able to surrender to God and worship goes beyond music—it's found in daily acts of obedience, faithfulness, and service.Laurel encourages believers to discover how their unique gifts can be expressions of worship.Even small acts of faithfulness carry weight in the Kingdom when done in love and obedience.Listeners are reminded that God honors hearts surrendered in both the big and the quiet, hidden places.[55:16] Understanding the Spiritual JourneyLiving by the Spirit requires intentional daily surrender.Laurel explains how believers must crucify the flesh and embrace the eternal life birthed through the Spirit. The Holy Spirit becomes the source of joy, healing, and clarity in a chaotic world. It's not about trying harder, but walking in step with the Spirit who renews us from the inside out.[1:03:38] Laurel: “I refuse to give human beings and this world more praise and more of my energy and my day than I give the one who gave his life for me.”[1:12:22] An Invitation to Surrender to GodRather than striving to fix what's broken, listeners are encouraged to sit with Jesus—just as they are—and receive the healing that only His love can bring. No weapon formed against you will prosper. No lie of the enemy can stand against the truth of your identity in Christ.Say yes to restoration. Say yes to Jesus. Surrender to God and let your journey of healing begin—right here, right now.About LaurelLaurel Bunker is a seasoned preacher, educator, and spiritual leader with over three decades of ministry experience across higher education, nonprofits, and the local church. Episode 200 Details College Bass Fishing's Rise, Teen-Invented Wildlife AI Dashcam & Best Fall Foliage in New England Latest Outdoors & Travel News! SPORTS: RISE OF COLLEGE BASS FISHING College bass fishing has emerged as a significant pathway to professional angling, with top university programs like Bethel University in Tennessee setting the standard. The 2024 Bassmaster College Series, a key event in college fishing, has seen a surge in participation, highlighting the growing popularity of the sport. As college fishing remains a club sport, meaning it is not NCAA-recognized, it opens the doors for students to earn sponsorships and win prize money, making it an attractive option for aspiring professional anglers. Universities like Bethel have pioneered the sport, offering scholarships, full-time coaches, and extensive financial support, which have helped them dominate national rankings. As more schools follow suit, college bass fishing is becoming a significant recruiting tool, drawing in both male and female students from across the U.S. and even internationally. This rise in interest and investment is cementing college bass fishing's place as a key feeder system for professional bass fishing, shaping the future of the sport. The sport's expansion beyond the Southeastern U.S. and into new regions is further fueled by the involvement of Major League Fishing, broadening opportunities for students nationwide. TEENS INVENT THERMAL AI DASHCAM A group of all female high school students from STEM School Highlands Ranch in Denver has developed a groundbreaking AI-powered dashcam designed to prevent wildlife collisions on roads. Using a Flir thermal imager and an AI model, the device detects animals, particularly deer, on roadways before they are visible to drivers, providing crucial warnings that can prevent accidents. The project began as part of the 2024 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest, driven by the students' desire to address the frequent and costly wildlife-vehicle collisions in Colorado. After exploring various solutions, young women chose thermal imaging for its effectiveness in low-light conditions, when most accidents occur. Their invention, currently in the final prototype phase, aims to alert drivers of potential collisions up to 500 feet ahead, significantly improving reaction times compared to traditional headlights. The six New England states—Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island—are top destinations for leaf-peeping enthusiasts. In 2023, New Hampshire alone saw 3.6 million visitors during the fall season. This year, the foliage season is expected to start later due to warm temperatures, but vibrant colors are anticipated thanks to abundant rainfall. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are particularly popular for their fall landscapes, with peak viewing expected around Halloween in the northern and western areas, and shortly after in the southern regions. Popular scenic routes for fall colors include Vermont's Route 7, the Upper Connecticut River Valley Loop, and Maine's Castine and Penobscot Bay Loop. For those seeking an urban fall experience, cities like Boston, Newport, and Portland offer beautiful foliage alongside cultural attractions. The best time to visit for peak color is mid-October, especially from October 12-15 in the northern parts of New England. Explore the connection that strong family relationships and church community have on the next generation. Dr. Terry Linhart, founder and CEO of Arbor Research Group and Executive Director of Bethel University's Extension Studies joins Jim Mason (HSLDA President) in a discussion on his various research projects. Together, they delve into an insightful discussion on the influence of familial relationships, the next generations societal well-being, and how our upbringing can shape virtues through institutional frameworks. “I think the child centered approach to education and individuality is very important. And that's the richness of why we love homeschooling, isn't it? It's the thing that we get to focus on the child and help. One of the loud cries from our research of parents in a local community is that about 20% of them just really would love to see a healthy mentor for their kid. . . That's what I see with homeschooling and my grandkids and the kids in our community [who] are involved in homeschooling. [Homeschool grads] who come to Bethel have this sense of enthusiasm for the future. I think that's contagious.”—Dr. Terry Linhart
