In today's episode, you'll discover: 1. Conflict may be the doorway to the relationship you actually want. 2. Stop outsourcing your judgment—even to really smart people. 3. Stop making your peace dependent on someone else's cooperation. To support these three takeaways, I chose a quote from Harriet B. Braiker: "Conflict can and should be handled constructively; when it is, relationships benefit. Conflict avoidance is *not* the hallmark of a good relationship. On the contrary, it is a symptom of serious problems and of poor communication." About Amy Armstrong: Amy Armstrong attracts smart, capable parents who are exhausted by conflict and ready to stop letting it run their lives. She helps them end the drama, trust their own judgment, and protect their children's freedom to simply be kids. She's not only a social worker and business owner, but a truth-teller who believes conflict is one of our greatest opportunities for growth. Her work helps people build stronger boundaries, make decisions that actually sound like them, and create deeper, more authentic relationships. As a new school year begins, parents often find themselves balancing excitement, stress, and uncertainty. In this episode, April Bordeau sits down with Dr Scott Wyndham, Superintendent of Avon Community School Corporation, to discuss practical ways parents can help children thrive academically, emotionally, and socially throughout the school year. Drawing from his experience as an educator, superintendent, and father, Scott shares thoughtful, encouraging advice that every parent can apply, regardless of their child's age. In this episode, you'll learn:Why routines and consistent structure help children feel safe and prepared to learn. How a strong partnership between parents and teachers positively impacts student success. The importance of coaching older students toward independence instead of solving every problem for them.Warning signs that may indicate a child is struggling with their mental health, and when parents should take a closer look.Practical ways parents can reduce back-to-school anxiety without unintentionally increasing it.How allowing children to experience age-appropriate struggles builds resilience and confidence. Why encouraging teachers and expressing gratitude strengthens the home-school partnership.Key TakeawaysBuild routines before school starts, especially healthy sleep habits.Introduce yourself to your child's teacher early instead of waiting until a problem arises.Help older students practice advocating for themselves before stepping in as a parent.Watch for significant changes in behavior or withdrawal across multiple areas of your child's life.Encourage your child with confidence rather than passing along your own anxiety.Give children opportunities to struggle, problem-solve, and recover from setbacks.Thank your child's teachers. Small expressions of appreciation make a lasting impact.Slow down and enjoy this season. The days may feel long, but the years truly are short. Resources MentionedIf your child needs professional counseling, Care to Change offers compassionate, evidence-based mental health services for children, teens, and families.Learn more at www.caretochange.orgConnect with Care to ChangeIf this episode encouraged you, subscribe to the Care to Change Podcast and share it with another parent, educator, or caregiver preparing for the school year.

In this special episode of the Care to Change Podcast, we hand the microphone to two teenage girls for an honest conversation about what life really feels like today. Instead of adults talking about teens, we listened to them. From the pressure to perform and the impact of social media to friendships, identity, faith, and the importance of feeling understood, this episode offers a refreshing look into the hearts of today's teenage girls. Alongside therapist Sarah Wheeler, the conversation provides practical insight for parents, mentors, youth leaders, and anyone who wants to better support the next generation. In this episode, we discuss:What adults often misunderstand about today's teensWhy many teens “wear a mask” all day at school and why home becomes their safe placeThe hidden pressure of academics, sports, friendships, and managing an overwhelming scheduleThe real impact of social media, including comparison, validation, attention span, and belongingWhy social media isn't all bad—and why understanding it matters more than simply blaming itWhat helps teens feel emotionally safe enough to open upHow parents can build trust through vulnerability, validation, and curiosityPractical ways adults unintentionally shut teens down—and how to avoid itWhere teen girls often look for identity and why performance can become a trapHow faith, healthy friendships, and supportive adults help teens remember their true worthWhy this generation gives us hope and what adults are doing well that teens deeply appreciate  TakeawayTeen girls aren't asking adults to have all the answers. They're asking for presence over perfection. When adults listen without immediately fixing, validate emotions without minimizing them, and create safe spaces for honest conversations, teens are far more likely to open up and thrive. Beneath the pressures they face is a generation hungry for authenticity, meaningful relationships, and lasting hope. ResourcesIf you or someone you love could benefit from counseling, our team at Care to Change is here to help. Welcome to The Inner Game of Change.  where we explore the thinking that shapes how change really happens. Today's conversation is a special one for me.My guest today was actually the very first person I interviewed when I started this podcast during the middle of Covid back in April 2021. At the time, the world was navigating uncertainty, disruption, and trying to make sense of what consistency meant when everything around us was shifting.Since then, a lot has happened. The podcast has passed one hundred episodes, the world has moved through Covid, and we now find ourselves in another wave of transformation with Artificial Intelligence entering the workplace and our lives in profound ways.So I thought it would be meaningful to bring him back.My guest is Michael Canic, author of the book Ruthless Consistency. It was one of the books I was reading at the time when the idea of this podcast first came to me.Michael's central idea is simple but powerful. Consistency is not about robotic repetition. It is about the relentless alignment of intentions, decisions, and actions. In this conversation we revisit the idea of consistency, but in a very different context. We explore whether consistency is the opposite of change, or whether it is actually the thing that enables change. We talk about consistency in leadership, in capability building, and in the way individuals manage themselves in a world full of distraction. And of course, we also touch on Artificial Intelligence, and how it is beginning to amplify the conditions that already exist inside organisations. This is a reflective conversation about leadership, identity, discipline, and the inner game of navigating uncertainty.I am grateful to have Michael chatting with me again.Send a textAli Juma @The Inner Game of Change podcast Follow me on LinkedIn

Welcome to The Imaginal Change Podcast: A podcast makeover! Welcome to the rebirth of this podcast. What was once Magical Humaning is now The Imaginal Change Podcast—a shift that reflects a deeper clarification of my purpose and service. In this episode, I share the journey that led here: from farm worker activist to therapist to coach to imaginal guide. It's a story of gathering tools and wisdom, and feeling the growing urgency to share them more widely as we reimagine our lives and our world. In this episode, we explore: What "imaginal change" means and why it matters The space between disruption and moving forward—where true potential lives How pausing (instead of controlling) allows clarity to emerge The neuroscience of connecting beyond ourselves What to expect from this podcast going forward This isn't about having answers. It's about trusting the messy in-betweens, liberating our creative potential, and building something genuinely new. Something is happening in our lives, and we can all feel it. Voices can be cloned. Stories can be automated. Images can be generated. And most of us are moving through it without fully stopping to ask what that does to our humanity..In this first part of a two-part conversation, Amy sits down with returning guest Bill Kirst to explore what it means to live in a world where we are beginning to question what is real. Bill reads from his Substack piece, The Buying of Our Breath, and the conversation goes straight to the human cost. What happens when you discover the voice that moved you didn't belong to a human body? When narration exists without presence? When we start editing out the very things that prove we are alive — the pause, the breath, the crack in the voice, our human “imperfections”?The things we once tried to erase may be our last undeniable proof of life.Take a listen. Hear the plea. Then decide for yourself — how far will we let the buying of our breath go?Threads We Pulled On:Rest Versus Restlessness – Explore why productivity tools promise freedom yet leave us feeling more unsettled and emotionally depleted. The Commodification of Voice – Understand what it means when Olympic narration, news reporting, and podcasting can be replicated without the human present.Proof of Life in Imperfection – See how coughs, pauses, filler words, and breath may become the rarest markers of authenticity. The Grief of Artificial Reality – Recognize the subtle but profound emotional toll of discovering something you believed was real was AI-generated.Discernment as a Leadership Skill – Consider why the future may demand deeper emotional intelligence and conscious filtering rather than faster consumption.Rebellion Against the Autofill – Exercising discernment and agency in a culture engineered for automation. You can listen to Bill's episode - AI & The Poetry of Our Existence with Bill Kirst here - https://create-magic-at-work-r.captivate.fm/episode/ai-the-poetry-of-our-existence-with-bill-kirst/About the Guest:Bill Kirst is an author, technology leader, podcast host, military veteran, mentor, educator and mindfulness practitioner. He has been writing stories, poems and lyrics for as long as he can remember. He hails from a long line of storytellers and educators who are deeply inspired, moved and healed by the power of the written word. Mixing in melody, chords and a chorus generate a powerful response toward healing. This is why he sees the world through a songwriter's eyes, and why his first published work was a collection of poetry. And his second book is focuses on how we hold on to our humanity in this era of AI.In addition to writing, he hosts The Coffee & Change Podcast which went into its tenth season this year. Bill helps people thrive and break through common obstacles that seem to be holding them back so they can reach their true potential. His career as a change leader has been rewarding, impactful and inspirational, reminding him of the importance of this work,...

It's Christmas Eve, and if you celebrate, Merry Christmas! In this episode of Pivot Ball Change, I'm sharing a cozy, behind-the-scenes chat that blends podcasting tips with real life, holiday traditions, and a little festive fun.In the first part of the episode, I break down the podcast hosting platform I recommend, where to find your podcast analytics, and why I'm asking for your feedback on this show so I can continue creating episodes that truly serve you. I also share simple lighting tips for podcast reels that I learned from one of our clients, a holiday podcasting strategy to reduce your workload during a busy season, and the recording platform I use and recommend to all of my clients. We also talk about what podcast editing tools can and can't do, why human editing still matters, and exactly how long your podcast intro should be and what it needs to include. Then I shift into real life outside of podcasting. I recap our son's sixth birthday party, what went well, how I created the invitations, where we found decorations, and where we chose the easy button. I also share two mantras that help calm my anxiety when hosting people in our home and talk about something I tried for the very first time that felt surprisingly freeing.I walk you through our Christmas Eve traditions, how my husband and I divide and conquer gift responsibilities for our boys, what we get each other for Christmas, and how we intentionally end the night so we can slow down, exhale, and remember what the season is really about. We wrap things up with the three F's: fashion, food, and fun. I share what I'm wearing for a fancy birthday dinner, a brand that's currently catching my eye, how I'm hosting my own birthday party and bringing new friends together, my favorite restaurant recommendation in Wisconsin Dells, WI, a party recipe that was a hit at our son's birthday, and the card game my family loves to play around the holidays. If you've noticed your content isn't getting found the way it used to, you're not imagining things. Search is changing fast, and AI is right in the middle of it. This week, I'm joined by my friend Rich Brooks, digital marketing veteran, agency owner, and host of the Agents of Change podcast, to break down what's actually happening behind the scenes with search and what creators need to do next.We talk about why informational SEO is taking a hit, how AI overviews and answer engines are changing traffic patterns, and why fewer visits doesn't automatically mean worse results. Rich explains the shift toward higher-intent traffic, branded search, and why trust, authority, and clarity matter more than chasing rankings. This episode is all about adjusting expectations and strategies without panicking. From optimizing service pages to thinking differently about PR, branding, and video content, Rich shares practical guidance to help creators and businesses stay visible, credible, and relevant in an AI-driven world.Key TakeawaysInformational SEO is losing ground: AI summaries often answer top-of-funnel questions before anyone clicks a website.Fewer visits can mean better leads: Traffic may drop, but intent is getting sharper, especially for service-based businesses.Optimize bottom-of-funnel pages first: Service and sales pages matter more than ever for conversions.Branded search is becoming critical: When people search for you by name, AI and search engines take notice.External citations matter: AI tools look at trusted directories, media outlets, and third-party sources to decide who to recommend.Consistency builds entity trust: Saying the same thing about your brand across your site, directories, and profiles helps AI understand who you are.Video and podcasting still matter: Showing up as a real human builds trust and authority AI can't fake.Answer real questions clearly: FAQs, structured content, and clear explanations help both humans and AI understand your expertise.ResourcesConnect with Rich Brooks on LinkedInAgents of Change Podcast: www.theagentsofchange.com/podcastsFlight New Media: www.takeflight.comEcamm - Your go-to solution for crafting outstanding live shows and podcasts. - Get 15% off your first payment with promo code JEFF15SocialMediaNewsLive.com - Dive into our website for comprehensive episode breakdowns.Youtube.com - Tune in live, chat with us directly, and be part of the conversation. As Fostering Change continues our celebration of National Adoption Awareness Month, we're highlighting the voices reshaping what adoption looks like in America—and making it more equitable, inclusive, and accessible for all families. This week, host Rob Scheer sits down with Becky Fawcett, founder of Helpusadopt.org, a national nonprofit adoption grant program helping thousands of families overcome the financial barriers to adoption. What began in Becky's New York City apartment in 2007 has grown into a multimillion-dollar organization that has transformed countless lives—and this month, Helpusadopt.org celebrates its 18th anniversary.Becky's own adoption journey—welcoming her daughters Jane and Brooke—inspired a lifelong commitment to changing a system that makes building a family so difficult for so many. Her mission is simple and powerful: every child deserves a loving, permanent home, and no parent should be prevented from adopting because of cost.In this inspiring conversation, Rob and Becky discuss:• The personal story behind Helpusadopt.org—and how one mother's vision became a national movement for adoption equality.• The staggering financial realities of adoption and how these costs prevent too many children from finding homes.• What it means for Helpusadopt.org to reach its 18-year milestone—and how its impact continues to grow across all 50 states.• The importance of inclusion and diversity in adoption: “Love makes a family—not money, not zip codes, not who you love or where you come from.”• How you can help ensure that more families can adopt—and that every child waiting for a home has the chance to thrive.Becky's story reminds us that changing the world doesn't always start in a boardroom. Sometimes, it begins at a kitchen table—fueled by love, determination, and the belief that every child deserves a family.
