At a few moments in his life Elijah was overcome with negative thinking. To be sure, it was mostly an appropriate response to brutal hardship. However, many of us are prone to a more chronic, low-grade type of negativity. This weekend Dr. Jim Keck will speak about different personality types and the essential role our faith plays in creating a more joyful approach to life.

Doug's story is a testament to the power of God's grace to transform lives and redirect paths for a higher calling. Join us as Doug candidly shares his faith journey, the challenges he faced, and the profound impact of EWTN's mission on his life and the lives of countless others around the world.
God and Jesus are bigger than religion. That is, human hearts can be in love with God and Jesus even though they might not attend church. Religion is a human construct and is always evolving. On this Pentecost Sunday, Dr. Keck will speak of a new pentecost that is underway that is changing the very concept of religion itself.
Near the very end of the Bible is a beautiful description of heaven and how we will live in the full light of God. But Heaven is not only something that we experience after we die. There are many chances to experience a slice of heaven in this life and Dr. Keck sees in Revelation 21 some clues to hearing the angles sing in your life right now.

We often think of God's home as otherworldly, above, heaven, ethereal, maybe even sublime. This week the scriptures gives us a much more common and accessible picture, God's home is among us. Yes, right here, where we live, work, and play. This says something about God, but it also says much about us.
Dr. Jim Keck will share how Dr. Martin Luther King played such a large role in his childhood. He will also explain that they share the same theological perspective that was developed at Boston University in the mid-twentieth century. Pastor Jim believes this theology is most true to scripture and could change our world.
This week on Listening Lyrics, I threw caution to the wind and handed over the keys—well, the playlist—to none other than Ray Keck (pictured), a Davis legend and music maestro in disguise. Ray didn't just walk into the studio—he stormed it with a playlist so good, I briefly questioned my own musical taste. (Don't worry, I recovered.) And behind the mic? Ray was smoother than a jazz sax solo at midnight. The guy was born for radio—I'm pretty sure his voice came with built-in reverb. Thanks for gracing us with your presence, Ray, and for not hijacking the station entirely. We'll keep your chair warm. P.S. This is our fund-raising week, and wouldn't you know it? Ray contributed so he could receive his own special KDRT T-shirt. www.kdrt.org/donate Check out the playlist.
This Sunday, Pastor Jim Keck brings a powerful message on Spirit and Truth—come be inspired and uplifted!

Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem. According to the synoptic gospels, Jesus then goes to the temple and throws over the tables. What an incredible juxtaposition of gentleness and strong protest. What is Jesus up to? Dr. Jim Keck will explore how our times demand a simple humility mixed with a strong sense of right and wrong.
Saint Augustine taught that human beings are driving by their desires, so we must strive to have the right desires. Using C.S. Lewis, Augustine and a great poem by Coleridge, Dr. Jim Keck will call for us to desire the most noble things in life.

His work has challenged conventional boundaries of news reporting and entertainment, blending the two in a way that continues to resonate with readers across the country. Advent Sermon Series The Divinity of Jesus Although many people like to think primarily of Jesus as a great teacher and a prophet for social justice and compassion, our tradition teaches us that the core fact about him is his divinity. While recognizing that many Christians may consider Jesus' divinity to be a mystery beyond our grasp, or too unscientific to insist upon, Dr. Jim Keck will describe why it is so important to him to see the fullness of God in our friend Jesus.

Advent Sermon Series This is a time of increasing fear in our world. A time that will call for moral clarity and resolve. Simply being afraid will do us no good. Thankfully, it's this time in the church's story of Christ, that angels begin to appear. The angel Gabriel to Mary, the angels around the manger, and the first words of an angel are always, “Do not be afraid." This Advent we will listen to that angelic voice. We will set fear aside and seek to behold the Christ. To behold the great miracle that God is doing in Christ. Gather with us this Advent, and Behold, the Light.

TVC 665.1: Ed welcomes William Keck, longtime entertainment reporter for such publications as the National Enquirer, People, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times, Emmy-nominated producer for the Hallmark Channel, Discovery Channel, and NBC, and the author of When You Step Upon A Star: Cringeworthy Confessions of a Tabloid Bad Boy, a collection of some of Will's most memorable celebrity encounters that, for one reason or another, all went horribly wrong. Will's book chronicles his evolution from a lonely only child obsessed with Hollywood stars, to an eager tabloid snoop who hid personal secrets of his own, to a well-respected journalist who ultimately learns from his mistakes, changes his ways, and ultimately befriends most of the celebrities that he had once wronged. When You Step Upon A Star is available wherever books are sold through Jacobs Brown Media Group. Topics this segment include Will's longtime love for TV families and the stars of nostalgia TV, and some of his early mishaps with celebrities, including how he came to be the only reporter who managed to tick off both Dick Van Dyke and Andy Griffith.
TVC 665.2: William Keck, author of When You Step Upon A Star: Cringeworthy Confessions of a Tabloid Bad Boy, tells Ed the back story of the outlandish lengths he took to land the first interview with Juditha Brown, mother of Nicole Brown Simpson, in June 1994 (a few days after Nicole's funeral), when he was a reporter with the National Enquirer; how he managed to win the trust of Mrs. Brown almost immediately, despite invading her privacy, simply by asking the right question; and how Will's exclusive access to the Brown family helped changed the public perception of the Enquirer from tabloid rag to the most reliable source of information about the murder of Nicole and the subsequent trial of O.J. Simpson. When You Step Upon A Star is available wherever books are sold through Jacobs Brown Media Group.
In this episode of Work in Progress, I am joined by two leaders of the U.S. Coast Guard Career Investment Division, Chief Stephen Keck and Deputy Chief Christopher Cruz. We take a look at how the Coast Guard is preparing its service members for the vital jobs they do in active service to the country and giving them the training, credentials, and degrees they need to succeed in the civilian workforce, including in critical national security roles. Transitioning from active military duty to a civilian career can be one of the most stressful times of your life according to today's guests. Fortunately, there are people in every branch of the military to help prepare service members for that big step. Both Keck and Cruz are veterans and both understand that service members learn remarkable skills while serving their country, skills that are vital to our nation's security. They also know that sometimes it's helpful to have a degree or industry-recognized credentials as they make that transition from active duty to veteran. In the podcast, we discuss the training that the U.S. Coast Guard provides for active duty service men and women. They also explain how those Coast Guard Sentinels can get credit through civilian industry-recognized credentials for those military jobs. For example, merchant mariner is a national security role that Coast Guard veterans are highly-qualified for and the program Keck and Cruz run make it easier for those veterans to qualify for those jobs. We also talk about other credentialing opportunities, two- and four-year college, and the durable skills a veteran leaves the military with. You can listen to the entire conversation here, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also find our podcasts on the Work in Progress YouTube channel.
