Philippians 4.1-9. How do we live in harmony with people we don't really get on with? How do we live stress-free instead of with constant anxiety? As Paul prepares to sign off his letter to the church in Philippi, he shows two women who weren't getting on how to live in peace with each other before giving two keys to unlock personal peace; leaving things with God instead of worrying, and focusing thoughts on wholesome things rather than on unhealthy things. 6 July 2025.
(This podcast was previously recorded and published on August 21, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... In 1980, I was in France. As I listened to the people walking past me, it was so lovely and peaceful. Then I realized: "It is peaceful to me because I can't understand what they are saying!" One day, we come to this understanding: II Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. We can't make this present earth righteous. It is the "new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness." But as Christians we do live in peace by learning to take every concern to God in prayer and by settling the matter with God by the Spirit of God and by living in the truth given to us by God concerning the issue at hand. We, like Abraham, set our goal and mind as follows: Genesis 14:21-23 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: We, as children born of the Spirit of God, do not look to governments of men for our "riches" or well being on this earth. We determine that which we have will be given to us by God. We do not seek the lottery money. We seek God's plan for our well being. We do not protest in the streets when people do unrighteous acts. For we know humans will be unrighteous on this earth. We seek our well being from God and live in peace through prayer by trusting in God. Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is MINE; I will repay, saith the Lord. 2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless. Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
You may wish you could avoid the “difficult people” in your life — but what if God wants to transform your heart through those relationships? We'll examine how to set boundaries, cultivate a sensitive spirit, and share God's love with people who drive you crazy!

Proverbs 12:24-28 offers practical wisdom for living a life of peace, purpose, and stability. These verses emphasize the value of diligence, the importance of wise counsel, and the security that comes from walking in righteousness. In contrast to the turmoil and anxiety accompanying laziness, deceit, or wickedness, the path of the righteous leads to peace and life. Living in peace doesn't mean avoiding all hardship, but rather aligning our lives with God's wisdom so that we experience His guidance and calm even in difficulty. This passage calls us to pursue a life of integrity and faithfulness, trusting that God's way leads to lasting peace.
Life has a way of filling our hearts with worry—about tomorrow, about our struggles, about things beyond our control. But Jesus calls us to something different: to seek God first and trust that He will take care of the rest. Just as a loving parent knows the needs of their child before they ask, God knows every detail of our lives. He sees our dreams, our struggles, and our frustrations, and He invites us to bring them to Him. Rather than being consumed by stress, Jesus calls us to focus on today. When we put God's kingdom first, everything else falls into place. Life requires us to seek many things—jobs, relationships, success—but above all, we are called to seek God's will. And when we do, we find peace, purpose, and joy, even in uncertainty. So don't let worry steal your joy. Trust that God is guiding your path, providing what you need, and opening doors in His perfect timing. Move forward with faith, and let God handle tomorrow.Subscribe to Our Channel! New to LifeRock? Welcome to Day 2524 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2524 – Second Week of Advent – Living in Peace, Daily Putnam Church Message – 12/08/2024 Living in Peace, Daily Last week was the first Sunday of Advent, and our focus was “Living in Hope, Daily. “We were reminded that Hope is alive because Jesus is alive. May we carry this truth with us this Advent season, lighting the way for others to see His love and faithfulness. This week is the Second Sunday of Advent: “The Candle of Peace” in a message titled “Living in Peace, Daily.” During the weeks of Advent, I want to slow life down a bit so we can truly take time to reflect on the purpose of the Advent season. I will also tie in some Christmas traditions in each message so we can reflect on the meaning of some traditions we practice during this blessed time. Opening Prayer: Lord, we come before You today with hearts open to receive the peace You promise. As we light the second candle of Advent, the Candle of Peace, it reminds us of the deep, lasting peace that can only be found in Jesus. In this season of anticipation and reflection, help us quiet our hearts and place our trust fully in You. In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen. Introduction: The Meaning of Advent Peace Today is the second Sunday of Advent, and we focus on peace. Advent is a time of waiting and preparation, and the peace we remember today is not just an absence of conflict but a deep, abiding calm that comes from knowing Christ. Peace may feel elusive amid the busyness and sometimes stress of the holiday season. But true peace, the kind that quiets our hearts, is not tied to our circumstances or feelings. It's rooted in Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who entered our world to reconcile us with God and with one another. The Promise of Peace in Scripture (Bulletin Insert) The Bible's understanding of peace goes beyond what we often think of as peace today. It's more than silence or a moment of calm; it's a completeness, wholeness, and harmony only God can provide. This peace is found in the Hebrew word shalom, which means completeness or well-being. Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:6-7 (NLT) “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.” The prophet Isaiah spoke these words hundreds of years before Jesus' birth, yet they describe who Jesus would be to His people: the Prince of Peace. This title is not just a name; it's a role and an identity. Jesus didn't just bring peace—He is peace. Through Him, we find true harmony with God, ourselves, and others. Illustration: The Christmas Truce of 1914 One remarkable story you may be familiar with that reflects this peace is the Christmas Truce of 1914, during World War I. For a brief time, soldiers on both sides put down their weapons and celebrated Christmas together. They sang carols, exchanged small gifts, and...
We all see how life seems to move in cycles. Whether it's the hectic pace of election seasons or the ups and downs of the economy, it's easy to get swept up. But remember the story where Jesus calmed the storm while His disciples panicked? That's a reminder that, despite the chaos, Jesus remains in control and offers us peace that the world can't give. Just like He reassured His disciples on that boat, He promises us the same peace, urging us not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid."Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." —John 14:27

Many people in midlife feel stuck and lack peace in their lives. They may be searching for happiness, fulfillment, or purpose, but they are tired and overwhelmed. This lack of peace is often caused by living a fragmented life, where different aspects of themselves are compartmentalized. Women, in particular, struggle with perfectionism and selflessness, neglecting their own needs. To find peace, it is important to embrace all aspects of oneself, including the mistakes and imperfections. By accepting and loving oneself, and living authentically, one can find a centered life and experience true peace. James writes that peace is a seed from the fruit called spiritual maturity. It is 'sown in peace by those who make peace by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals.' We must have the seed to sow it. It is a release of our desires for the deeper healing of Jesus' presence. His peace is ours, giving us the seeds that can be sown in others' hearts. How would your life change emotionally, physically, and mentally after the loss of a child? Debbie Gail is a strong, resilient woman who has transformed her pain into her purpose. Her journey began when she faced the challenges of her son's mental illness and addiction, eventually leading to his tragic loss. Throughout our conversation, Debbie takes us on her journey of finding peace and purpose amidst the challenges of her loved one's mental illness and addiction struggles. Debbie realized early on that her need for certainty fueled her fear and prevented her from finding inner peace. Replacing the need for certainty with a desire to contribute and help others was a powerful way for Debbie to choose peace over fear. Debbie discovered her true calling - to support and guide other parents and family members who were going through similar struggles. Waiting for circumstances to be perfect is unnecessary, and Debbie encourages parents to embrace their children as they are, starting from now. Debbie's passion for helping other parents contributed to her writing a book, Finding Peace and Purpose amidst the Tears, so no parent feels alone. The most important point in our conversation is this; living in peace and not fear is a choice. Please enjoy my conversation with Debbie Gail.
