How much do you worry? Worry is a disruptive force that has a tendency to consume our lives. Even when we know we're worrying, we start to worry about worrying. Then worry about how much we're worrying about not worrying. Can you relate? It's natural to worry, of course. It keeps us alive! Still, most of us know we could be worrying a little less, and it can be quite challenging to stop this force once it's rolling. In this episode, I share a story about a lavender field I recently visited, and how, when I arrived for a seemingly *magical* experience, the entire landscape was covered in one of my greatest fears: BEES. Worry alert: Triggered. In a moment where worry threatened to take control, I walk you through how I realized what was happening, coaxed myself out of the stress and worry-filled state, and back into the joy of the present moment. At the end of the episode, I also share a very simple, somatic and breathwork exercise you can do when worry begins to hijack your joyful experience. MIKE - Stop Worry! (feat. Sister Nancy) from the 2022 album Beware of the Monkey on 10k London-via-the-Bronx artist Michael Jordan Bonema (better known as MIKE to us) has recruited the legendary Sister Nancy to help out on today's Song of the Day. Sister Nancy is the first ever female dancehall DJ, and her repeated refrain to "wake up" helps elevate this laid-back, synthesizer-laden song.  The track can be found on his latest full-length Beware of the Monkey, titled after some advice he found in his Chinese horoscope. Like on previous releases, the new album honors the memory of his mother. The video, directed by Ryosuke Tanzawa, is dedicated to her, and the single was released on what would've been his mother's birthday. As you lead yourself forward you will leave a path for others to follow. This podcast series is designed to take your stress and anxiety levels down significantly, but more importantly, to give you specific strategies by which to live a better, more peaceful life.  4 - Marcus Aurelius said: "Stop caring about what other people think about you." Care about what you do and say. You will find tranquility in looking inward versus outward.   5 - Process your emotions, don't ignore them. The Stoics journaled, they asked questions, they wrote letters. They didn't suppress their emotions, instead, they reflected and analyzed them. The Stoics said you should 'domesticate' your emotions. Reminder, you promised yourself you would become a HARRIS Coaching client. You are done wasting time and ready to follow a proven path. Eleanor Roosevelt said: 'No one can hurt you without your consent.' You choose how you feel. Would your daily life be more enjoyable without stress washing over you? Do you feel triggered more than you used to?  This podcast series is designed to re-center you, to help you focus on what's right and peaceful in your world, and to give you new thoughts and strategies so you can flourish by living your best life. It's normal to feel worried, to feel stressed, and occasionally be overwhelmed. We will share ideas on how to move forward past those success stifling emotional states. I WILL make NOW my best year ever! https://timandjulieharris.com/real-estate-coaching-programs/premier-coaching.html Perhaps the best teachers (ever) on this topic are the Stoics.  What is Stoicism and how can it make you a better person? Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno, in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. (That's over 2000+ years ago) How could this possibly apply to our modern daily lives? Because Stoicism is a philosophy of personal virtue and ethics governed by its system of logic and its views on the natural world. It asserts that the practice of virtue is both necessary and sufficient to achieve a contented state of being—flourishing by means of living an ethical life. Let's take the Stoic Marcus Aurelius for example. He was a Roman Emperor as well as a Stoic philosopher. During his lifetime, there was heavy warfare, plagues, many conflicts, and family dramas. He had good reason to be anxious, but how did he handle it? Marcus Aurelius kept journals, which are full of notes to himself on how to 'escape anxiety'. (Note: read Meditations by Marus Aurelius) Aurelius wasn't alone, though. The other Stoics had a lot to say about this as well. Epictetus for example, said that 'the most important task in life was determining what we could control and what we couldn't', so as to alleviate anxiety. Important note: Most if not all of what we are about to share with you has been used as the foundations for all major religions, philosophies, and of course.... self-help gurus. Paul the Apostle was known for his teachings that he derived from the Stoics. Seneca and Jesus Christ were contemporaries both having been born in 4 BC. Seneca's brother appeared in the Bible. Seneca offered practical and actionable advice about overcoming what he defined as 'pre-suffering' or self-inflicted stress. In other words, how to overcome feeling overwhelmed in a world that oftentimes is indeed overwhelming.  So, in honor of our Stoic philosophers, let's get practical and tactical about what can be done to have more peaceful and fulfilled lives, dropping at least some of our daily anxieties. Seems pretty appropriate for our modern times, right? Worrying you will not solve anything, but taking action will. The following week is Blue Monday. In the UK, we consider this day the saddest day of the year. We came back from the holidays and worried about all the money we spent, debts, etc. It takes hold of us, added to the darkness of the clouds that surround the country along with its low temperatures.I'll tell you something—I'm a recovering worrier. I have it in my DNA, it is part of me, and I had to learn to control it. For this reason, in this episode, I will share five tips with you that helped me change the way I think and take me to live a less stressful and less worried life. Spend your time relaxing instead of worrying.Enjoy the episode!EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS[12:48] Be in the present. Most of the time, we worry about things that will happen in the future. We occupy our minds and waste our time in situations that have not yet occurred or may never occur. You can only change today; enjoy the now.[13:29] Practice awareness. The most important thing is to learn how to identify it to stop it. Ask yourself, is this worth continuing to occupy your mind with this worry?[14:53] Ask yourself about the possibilities.I recommend using the third-person strategy to answer this question. Often, we need to put our feet on the ground and think if we are giving more importance than it deserves to the problem or situation we face.[15:53] Turn that thought into an action plan. One of the mistakes we make is worrying without doing anything about it to change it. Ask yourself, can I solve this right now? and start taking action.[18:18] Don't focus on the negative. In every circumstance, moment, or situation that we go through, there is always 50 percent that everything goes well and another 50 percent that it goes wrong. Focus on the positive things because you never really know what life will have in store for you. Positive thinking manifests positive things in you and your life.QUOTES"The best antidote to worry is action." -Patricia Manley."By thinking about your worries, you focus your attention on the future, and you are not living what is happening now." -Patricia Manley.ABOUT PATRICIA MANLEYPatricia Manley is the brains and heart behind the LA MANTUANA brand and was lucky enough to be born in the same city as women like fashion designer Carolina Herrera, Latin-American heroine Luisa Caceres de Arismendi, and Music Composer Teresa Carreno. We cannot be absolutely devoted to God if we're devoted to worrying about tomorrow. Worrying about tomorrow is a failure to trust in God and accomplishes nothing. Matthew 6:27–29 says, 'Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don't labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. ‘ Obeying the lord's command not to worry about tomorrow requires action. Anxiety is a state of mind that can cause believers and non-believers to have feelings of being stressed, uneasy, worried, and feeling hopeless. Whenever we are dealing with troublesome matters, it opens the door for those feelings of distress, anxiety, and frustration, as evidenced by Matthew 6:34. As we make a daily commitment to pursue Jesus, our faith in him reduces the opportunity for worry to remain in our thoughts, conversations, and decision making.

Suz Slater said realising her whole life and business had revolved around her husband / partner for 27 years, brought her to an abrupt stop. Shocked at what she discovered she began wondering about her own future beyond 50. Having successfully bought and sold apartments with her husband, the couple began travelling to Bali regularly. One thing stood out for the soon to be single mature woman. Over the years, Suz had met a lot of women who were either married (husband preferred to stay home) widowed or divorced who loved to travel and when she mentioned a concept of doing personalised women only tours, small groups, under ten not the usual 20 people tour groups, the response she received was resoundingly positive. Unlike many people who are facing 50, 60 and beyond who worry about their future, for Suz knew instinctively this was the direction she was meant to go in. It felt right. Everything seemed to fall into place. She listened to her instinct, never questioning it, Suz says she felt 'this was her destiny,' so she started to form a team to help her and with that her passion and venture began,'Safe Travel Tours.' Specialising in 35 plus single women fully escorted all-inclusive tours to Bali, Suz was convinced this would take her intoretirement, with the right people her team. Constantly focusing on safety for women, today there are special tours and she says her motto is: "If you like singing in the rain, drinking champagne then come dance with us!" Today's guest can be reached via her website of the same name.

The Holy Spirit reminded me to not worry about tomorrow’s problems. You can't solve them today. Every time I think about something that worries me, it’s usually about things that are happening tomorrow. They’re happening in the future. Matthew 6:34 says “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. In this episode I share my three best techniques for worry: 1. Turn your thoughts into prayers. Thank Him, that He is already working on your tomorrow. "Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns." Philippians 4:6 2. Ask yourself what the worst thing is that could happen. Think about what the enemy has been holding over your head. And then define what success means to you. Perfection is not success. Success is being obedient to Christ. 3. Use the word “I don’t” instead of “I can’t”. This combination of words is way more powerful. What we say with our mouth our mind takes as fact, whether we believe it or not. So, what are the “I don’ts in your life? Women are more likely than men to develop anxiety disorders, a fact which researchers have attributed to a range of biological, psychological, and cultural factors. This predisposition inclines women to worry more than men about things like social problems, work, finances-even about worry itself, a phenomenon psychologists call meta-worry. The goal of this book is to help readers control excessive worry by learning to perceive threats more accurately and to stop focusing on things that are unlikely to happen.
