HOUR 1: The show broadcasts live from Lord Hobo Brewing in the Seaport and get you ready for Celtics-Heat Game 6 tonight. Boston is 1 win away from their 22nd NBA Finals.
Design is one of the least discussed but potentially most important things a brewery can do to tell their story. If you do it well you will connect with your customer, helping to build a critical and lasting bond, or as Ben Butler of Top Hat puts it, a "gentle handshake." This is especially true for new breweries trying to make their mark in the crowded marketplace today: how will your customers know what you stand for and what you are trying to say? And how will you stand out on the shelf with packaging that communicates this same message?Ben Butler founded Pittsburgh's Top Hat design and marketing agency before he had even graduated from college. His energy, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit - along with partner Aaron Easler and the whole Top Hat team - have propelled his agency to the forefront of craft brewery design and branding. Beginning with their "Will Work for Beer" campaign that drew the attention of their first brewery client Lord Hobo Brewing, leading to an impressive (and award-winning) brand refresh of Pittsburgh's iconic Iron City Beer, and on to successful projects for the likes of us at Reuben's Brews, Top Hat has made a mark as an innovative partner for breweries and other small businesses to refine their storytelling through design.Adam and Matt at Reuben's Brews are equally passionate about the role that storytelling and design have with connecting the consumer to the true mission of a brewery. When we embarked on our brand refresh project in 2019, even before connecting with Ben and Top Hat, we spent considerable time delving in to the "Why" of Reuben's Brews: the reason we brew and the reason we push to be better. In the closing notes of this episode Adam brings up the seminal "Start with Why" TED Talk by Simon Sinek which is worth watching for anyone who is interested in branding. This episode concludes the fourth season of Reuben's Sightglass and hopefully provides a capstone to this overview of the Business of Beer.--The fourth season of Reuben's Sightglass dives deep into the Business of Beer. Listeners will learn about the backend of the brewery businesses, the highs and lows, mistakes and wins, and what makes a good beer vs what makes a great beer. Let this season guide you through your personal beer story. It's time to embark on your beer journey.

This week, we had the absolute pleasure of catching up with one of the most intrepid minds in fermentation, Vince Tursi!Alongside buddy-turned-business partner Mike Semenac, Vince is a co-founder/owner of DSSOLVR Beverage Co., located within the esteemed utopia of Asheville, NC. Their brewery - which fired up its system for the first time almost exactly 12 months ago - has experienced quite the rookie year, as most of it has unfolded inside a pandemic. We dive into that whirlwind of an experience and learn of the patently inspiring ways DSSOLVR has made the most out of an objectively shitty situation and the positive, long-term paradigm shifts COVID-induced reflection has kickstarted within the business. We also trace through Vince's impressive industry resume, and he delineates how his respective stints at Night Shift, Lord Hobo Brewing, Burial Beer, and The Whale Bar have helped mold his approach to brewing and business ownership. The conversation takes an unexpected turn a little over halfway through, when decides to take the interviewer reigns, which leads to a discussion about management that was equal measures surprising as it was enjoyable. Last, not least, and certainly not all; we talk about brewing with crickets, make a case for pizza beer, and celebrate the surreal with a proper amount reverie surrounding the infamous Tim and Eric's Awesome Show Great Job. We haven't laughed as much in an episode since a profession comedian graced the show back in April, and yet we may also have never participated in this level of real-time reflection with a guest. If you're reading this, you known you can listen in now, so go ahead and do what you know this weird, weird universe wants you to do. .................................. ..................................................... Episode 188 - Dinner Special At The Rainforest Cafe Hey, what's eating you, buddy? That's a pretty normal question, that usually has a pretty normal answer. Not this week though, because it's not so much about WHAT is eating us, but rather WHO is eating us. In the horror genre, that can have any number of fun answers. This week it's the locals who have us on the menu, and they look hungry. They're in for surprise though because we haven't been showering much during quarantine, and we're a bit gamey. We're sinking our teeth into a couple cannibal flicks, and enjoying some Meat & Potatoes American Stout from Lord Hobo Brewing. Cheers!!! Follow us! As winter closes, we head to Woburn, MA to check out Lord Hobo's brewery. Matt hits up IPA masters Melvin Brewing in Wyoming; and Austin buys a hat hoping to be cool like Matt.
It may be winter time, but I think we all need a break from the big, dark beers. So we're going with a big, hoppy beer. Lord Hobo Brewing Company's Consolation Prize is a hazy double IPA from one of the biggest names in hazy beers. Consolation Prize is resulting in flavors of pineapple, mango, and melon and sports a pilsner base. It's an easy to drink double IPA that hides it's higher ABV well, but will it be too hoppy to be a harmonious decision? We want to hear about your favorite hazy double, what is your go-to?Make sure to follow the show on all social media outlets @BeerHarmonyShow and check out www.beerharmonyshow.com for even more beer! Please send us your beer suggestions and show feedback to beerharmonyshow@gmail.com. You can find out more about Lord Hobo Brewing at www.lordhobobrewing.com. Cheers!
