Stop losing revenue after the click! Let's find the leak before your next ad. Get your free CRO audit at: https://www.tiereleven.com/cro/service Are you optimizing your site based on what looks good or what actually converts? Most brands are bleeding revenue because their CRO strategy starts with design opinions instead of hard data. If you're copying competitor layouts or A/B testing button colors without first identifying your true 'metric on fire,' you're solving the wrong problem. In this episode, Tier 11's CRO lead, Ned MacPherson, is back for part two of our three-part series. Ned walks through a live data presentation covering engagement rates, funnel drop-off analysis, mobile vs. desktop conversion gaps, AOV benchmarks, and demographic distribution modeling. We also review a real-world case where a brand's mobile add-to-cart rate was nearly half that of desktop, despite a good landing page design. If your CRO audit isn't moving the needle, this episode will show you what you're missing and how to find the one metric that, if fixed, creates a disproportionate impact on your entire funnel. What you'll learn:- Why copying competitor designs is a dangerous CRO mistake - How to identify the single 'metric on fire' that's killing your conversion rate- Key engagement rate benchmarks e-commerce brands should measure against- Why a low mobile add-to-cart rate is often a content problem, not a design problem- How to use mobile vs. desktop funnel data to uncover hidden conversion gaps- The cart-to-checkout friction fix that boosts conversion rates on all devices - The urgency engineering tactic that converts abandoned checkout carts- Why AOV should always be equal on mobile and desktop- How demographic distribution modeling helps in audience segmentation- The step-by-step CRO loop and growth modelMentioned in the Episode:Previous Episode with Ned MacPherson: https://perpetualtraffic.com/podcast/episode-796-stop-redesigning-start-diagnosing-the-cro-method-that-actually-works/ Perpetual Traffic YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@perpetual_traffic?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to This Episode on Your Favorite Podcast Channel:Follow and listen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/perpetual-traffic/id1022441491 Follow and listen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/59lhtIWHw1XXsRmT5HBAuK Subscribe and watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@perpetual_traffic?sub_confirmation=1We Appreciate Your Support!Visit our website: https://perpetualtraffic.com/ Connect with Ned MacPherson:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nedmacpherson/ Connect with Ralph Burns: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ralphburns Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ralphhburns/ Hire Tier11 - https://www.tiereleven.com/apply-now Mentioned in this episode:Apply for an ad spot on Perpetual Traffic for Q1 or Q2. ReDesigning Your Creative Career After 50with Philip VanDusenIf you're a creative professional over 50, redesigning your creative career after 50 isn't about starting over, it's about building resilience, relevance, and long-term leverage. In this episode, I walk you through a practical framework for career reinvention, income diversification, and staying professionally valuable in an AI-accelerated world. The Workbook Prompts:"If traditional employment became unreliable tomorrow, how else could I create value with what I know?""Which parts of my work still challenge my thinking, and which parts simply consume my energy?""What would it look like to make that guidance explicit, structured, and an 'intellectual deliverable' that I could be paid for?""List five potential, or existing income streams you could realistically develop over the next few years.""Where in my work does human context matter more than speed?""Write down the names of three people you would want in the room as you rethink, and redesign, the next phase of your career."Many experienced designers, creatives, and agency professionals discover that traditional employment becomes less reliable later in their careers. Ageism, shifting business models, global competition, and AI-driven automation are reshaping the creative industry. Instead of chasing employability, I'll show you how to build resilience, intellectual deliverables, multiple income streams, and a network that actually supports your next chapter. This is a guided workshop for experienced creative professionals who want clarity, stability, and long-term career insurance. If you're serious about redesigning your career with intention, explore BONFIRE, my mastermind community for experienced creatives navigating this exact transition.BONFIRE: Mastermind Community for Creative Proshttps://philipvandusen.com/bonfire________________________________WEBSITEhttps://www.philipvandusen.comBRAND•MUSE NEWSLETTER  https://www.philipvandusen.com/museCREATIVE PROFESSIONAL COACHINGhttps://philipvandusen.com/oneononeYOUTUBEhttps://www.youtube.com/philipvandusenBRAND DESIGN MASTERS PODCAST https://podcast.branddesignmasters.com/subscribeBRAND STRATEGY 101 COURSEhttps://philipvandusen.com/bs101LINKEDINhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/philipvandusen/THREADShttps://www.threads.net/@philipvandusen FACEBOOKhttps://www.facebook.com/philipvandusen.agency/____________________________Philip VanDusen is a branding consultant based in New York. Freelancing can feel like the dream at first, until the business grows and you realize you are doing everything. I built a design agency because I wanted more than flexibility. I wanted sustainability. In this episode, I share the real turning point that made me stop operating like a freelance designer and start building leverage, including how I hired early in small ways, how my role shifted into creative direction, and what changed when my agency stopped depending on me every day. How to Stop Wasting Time - 7 Time Management Hacks That Actually Work with Philip VanDusenMany creative professionals feel constantly busy but still end the day wondering if anything meaningful actually moved forward. In this episode, Philip VanDusen explores why traditional productivity advice often falls short and why most time management systems fail to solve the real problem. The issue is not a lack of apps, tools, or productivity frameworks. The real challenge is self-leadership.Instead of focusing on software or complicated productivity stacks, Philip shares seven practical practices designed to help creative professionals reclaim their attention, protect their energy, and structure their days around meaningful work.Drawing from his experience coaching creative professionals and running his own consulting practice, Philip explains how distractions, reactive work habits, and endless task lists create the illusion of productivity while preventing real progress. This episode reframes time management as something deeper than scheduling tasks. It is about learning to manage your attention, direct your energy, and design your day intentionally so your most important work gets your best focus. You will learn how to identify the work that truly moves the needle, reduce distractions, and build simple systems that eliminate repetitive decisions and free up mental energy for creative thinking. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by notifications, email, meetings, or an endless to-do list, this conversation offers a practical and mindset-driven approach to working with more clarity, focus, and impact. What You'll Learn in This Episode• Why productivity tools rarely solve productivity problems • The difference between time management and self-leadership • How managing your energy matters more than managing your calendar • Why reactive work destroys creative momentum • How artificial deadlines help eliminate perfectionism and procrastination • Practical ways to train your focus and reduce distractions • Why high performers rely on systems and templates to conserve mental energyThe 7 Time Management Hacks1. Your Energy Is the Real CalendarProductivity should be structured around when your brain works best, not simply around open calendar space. Understanding your chronotype and protecting your peak cognitive hours allows you to do creative work when your energy is highest.2. Design Your Default DayHigh performers do not react to the day. They design it.Creating defined work zones such as deep work, communication, and administrative time removes daily decision fatigue and gives your day a clear structure.3. The One Needle-Mover RuleMost people mistake activity for progress.Instead of trying to complete dozens of small tasks, identify the one meaningful task that would make the day successful if completed. This shifts focus from busyness to impact.4. Kill Reactivity at the SourceWhen your day is driven by notifications, messages, and emails, you become a professional responder instead of a creator.Setting communication windows and controlling when you engage with incoming requests helps you reclaim ownership of your attention.5. Use Artificial DeadlinesAccording to Parkinson's Law, work expands to fill the time available.Creating constraints such as work sprints and defined deadlines forces decision making, reduces perfectionism, and accelerates momentum.6. Train Your FocusMultitasking is a myth.Constant task switching drains cognitive energy and reduces performance. Building a distraction-free environment and practicing attention recovery techniques helps strengthen focus over time.7. Build a Personal Production SystemHigh performers rely on systems rather than repeated decisions.Templates, structured file systems, and automation tools reduce cognitive load and allow you to spend more time on meaningful creative work instead of administrative repetition.Key TakeawayTime management is not really about squeezing more tasks into your day.It is about directing your attention, protecting your energy, and intentionally designing how you work so the right work gets your best effort. When you approach productivity as self-leadership instead of task management, you begin to make consistent progress on the work that truly matters._______________________________________________WEBSITEhttps://www.philipvandusen.comBONFIRE: Mastermind Community for Creative Proshttps://philipvandusen.com/bonfireBRAND•MUSE NEWSLETTER  https://www.philipvandusen.com/museCREATIVE PROFESSIONAL COACHINGhttps://philipvandusen.com/oneononeYOUTUBEhttps://www.youtube.com/philipvandusenBRAND DESIGN MASTERS PODCAST https://podcast.branddesignmasters.com/subscribeBRAND STRATEGY 101 COURSEhttps://philipvandusen.com/bs101LINKEDINhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/philipvandusen/THREADShttps://www.threads.net/@philipvandusen FACEBOOKhttps://www.facebook.com/philipvandusen.agency/____________________________________AFFILIATE PARTNERS:BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP: Adobe Training with Daniel Scotthttps://www.byol.me/philip  GO HIGHLEVEL: All-in-One CRMhttps://www.gohighlevel.com/philipvandusenTUBEBUDDY: The best YouTube pluginhttps://www.tubebuddy.com/philipvandusen____________________________Philip VanDusen is a branding consultant based in New York. Navigating Career Transitions and Inflection PointsCareers rarely unfold in straight lines. In this episode, I'm sharing a conversation I originally recorded with strategist and executive coach Kathy Oneto about navigating career transitions and professional inflection points. We explore why careers often evolve through pivots rather than predictable steps up a ladder, and how moments of friction or curiosity can signal that it's time to rethink what comes next.We also discuss how creative professionals can stay resilient during periods of change by developing broader skillsets, building what I call “career insurance,” and surrounding themselves with communities that expand what feels possible. If you're questioning your next move, navigating a shift in your career, or thinking about how to stay relevant in a rapidly changing professional landscape, this conversation offers a thoughtful framework for approaching those transitions. In This Episode We DiscussWhy career transitions are often triggered by friction, curiosity, or unexpected circumstancesThe difference between careers that follow a linear “ladder” and those that evolve more like websHow to recognize when a professional pursuit is feeding your energy versus draining itWhy letting go of something you've built can be one of the hardest but most important career decisionsThe concept of building “career insurance” through adaptable skills and broader capabilitiesWhy developing a V-shaped skillset can create more resilience than narrow specializationHow major technological shifts like AI mirror previous industry disruptionsThe critical role community and professional networks play during periods of career transitionWhy navigating career change alone often makes the process harder than it needs to beAbout Kathy OnetoKathy Oneto is a strategist, executive and life-work coach, and speaker who helps individuals and organizations rethink how they pursue success and growth. How To Stay Relevant as a Creative ProfessionalIn this episode, I break down how you can stay relevant as a creative pro in a fast-changing industry where ageism, AI, and commoditization are real forces. If you're a mid-career designer, creative director, strategist, or agency owner, this is about building career insurance that protects you from volatility you can't control.I share the uncomfortable truths many experienced creatives avoid talking about, including what really happens when roles disappear and why doubling down on craft alone is no longer enough. Staying relevant in your creative career is not about chasing the latest tools or working harder. It's about repositioning yourself closer to strategic decision-making, moving toward the “tip of the spear,” and getting paid for how you think, not just what you make .Throughout the episode, I give you practical micro-actions you can take immediately to future-proof your creative career, strengthen your positioning, and expand your strategic network. You'll also learn why relevance is relational, not just informational, and how peer-level dialogue accelerates growth. If you want long-term career resilience as a creative professional, this is where you start.____________________________________WEBSITEhttps://www.philipvandusen.comBONFIRE: Mastermind Community for Creative Proshttps://philipvandusen.com/bonfireBRAND•MUSE NEWSLETTER  https://www.philipvandusen.com/museCREATIVE PROFESSIONAL COACHINGhttps://philipvandusen.com/oneononeYOUTUBEhttps://www.youtube.com/philipvandusenBRAND DESIGN MASTERS PODCAST https://podcast.branddesignmasters.com/subscribeBRAND STRATEGY 101 COURSEhttps://philipvandusen.com/bs101LINKEDINhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/philipvandusen/THREADShttps://www.threads.net/@philipvandusen FACEBOOKhttps://www.facebook.com/philipvandusen.agency/____________________________________Philip VanDusen is a branding consultant based in New York. EP 160: LinkedIn Just Got Much More Important Brand Design Masters Podcast with Philip VanDusenLinkedIn just became one of the most powerful platforms for personal branding, client acquisition, and career growth. In this episode, I break down why AI search, content longevity, and platform dynamics are dramatically increasing LinkedIn's importance for professionals and B2B businesses.AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are reshaping discovery. LinkedIn is now one of the most cited sources in large language model answers, especially for verifiable human expertise. That means your LinkedIn content can surface in AI results long after you post it.We also look at:• Why LinkedIn content is shifting from short-lived posts to long-tail visibility • The massive imbalance between content creators and consumers on LinkedIn • Why business intent and low contact friction make LinkedIn uniquely powerful • The mindset shift from posting to positioning • What formats are working now: carousels, 30–60 second video, and in-depth thought leadershipIf you want to increase visibility, establish authority, attract better clients, or future-proof your career in an AI-driven world, LinkedIn should be central to your strategy. This episode will help you understand why.____________________________________WEBSITEhttps://www.philipvandusen.comBONFIRE: Mastermind Community for Creative Proshttps://philipvandusen.com/bonfireBRAND•MUSE NEWSLETTER  https://www.philipvandusen.com/museCREATIVE PROFESSIONAL COACHINGhttps://philipvandusen.com/oneononeYOUTUBEhttps://www.youtube.com/philipvandusenBRAND DESIGN MASTERS PODCAST https://podcast.branddesignmasters.com/subscribeBRAND STRATEGY 101 COURSEhttps://philipvandusen.com/bs101LINKEDINhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/philipvandusen/THREADShttps://www.threads.net/@philipvandusen FACEBOOKhttps://www.facebook.com/philipvandusen.agency/____________________________________AFFILIATE PARTNERS:BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP: Adobe Training with Daniel Scotthttps://www.byol.me/philip  GO HIGHLEVEL: All-in-One CRMhttps://www.gohighlevel.com/philipvandusenTUBEBUDDY: The best YouTube pluginhttps://www.tubebuddy.com/philipvandusen____________________________Philip VanDusen is a branding consultant based in New York. How to Get More Clients Without Working Harder with Philip VanDusenBrand Design Masters Podcast – EP 158BONFIRE https://philipvandusen.com/bonfireTUBEBUDDY (affiliate link) https://tubebuddy.com/philipvandusenGetting more clients doesn't have to mean working longer hours, posting nonstop on social media, or chasing cold leads that go nowhere. In this episode, Philip VanDusen breaks down how creative professionals can grow their client base without burning out by widening their offer, strengthening their network, and positioning themselves as strategic partners instead of execution-only vendors. You'll learn where clients actually come from for freelancers, consultants, and small creative agencies, and why referrals and partnerships consistently outperform ads and content marketing combined. Philip explains the real math behind client funnels and why a narrow service offering and a shallow network will always limit your growth, no matter how talented you are. This episode introduces the concept of “Design Plus”, a smarter way to expand your value without learning every new skill yourself. By building strategic partnerships and leveraging the expertise and networks of others, you can dramatically increase the number of opportunities available to you while doing less hands-on work.Philip also shares why networking feels so hard for many creative professionals, and how to make it more natural, human, and effective. He explains the difference between casual connections and a meaningful network that actually generates work, and why mastermind communities can accelerate growth faster than almost any other strategy. If you're a designer, creative director, freelancer, or agency owner who feels stuck on a client acquisition treadmill, this episode will help you rethink how you grow your business and reclaim your time.In this episode, you'll learn:•  The three places all clients come from and which one matters most•  Why widening your offer creates more opportunities without more effort•  What “Design Plus” really means and how to apply it•  How strategic partnerships multiply your reach and credibility•  Why meaningful networks outperform social media followers•  How masterminds accelerate learning, confidence, and client growthLearn more about the Bonfire mastermind community at:https://philipvandusen.com/bonfireIf this episode helped you rethink how you attract clients, be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with another creative pro who's ready to grow smarter, not harder.

In this episode, Troy Trewin interviews Kris Jones, owner of Red Door Designs based in the beautiful Portland, Oregon, in the United States. Red Door Stories started 23 years ago as a design agency focused on branding and websites, but evolved to specialize in helping clients develop and tell their stories more effectively across their marketing and online presence.   Over the past 12 months, Kris grew her design agency by an impressive 384%, transitioning from a solo operation to building a team of 5. The key to Kris' success was mastering the art of storytelling. She faced a common challenge - clients struggling to write their own website copy. This led Kris to immerse himself in the power of story, applying storytelling techniques to transform her clients' businesses. By helping her clients craft captivating stories, Kris enabled them to charge 6 times more, avoid burnout and attract higher-paying customers.   Other Resources:   From Click to Client Podcast by Kris Jones From Clicks to Clients: Proven Sales Strategies for the Digital Era Book by Kris Jones   Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here.   And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: 1. What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? Kris says the biggest challenge is figuring out how to talk about your business clearly. Being inside the "bottle", it's hard to read the label from an outside perspective - your customers' point of view. Being immersed in your own business, it's easy to fall into the trap of using industry jargon or assuming too much knowledge from your customers. 2 .What's your favourite business book that has helped you the most? Kris swears by Building A Story Brand by Donald Miller, as a game-changing resource. He explains how mastering the art of crafting compelling stories transformed his business, allowing him to help clients charge 6 times more, avoid burnout, and attract higher-paying customers. 3. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Kris is a big fan of the Marketing Made Simple podcast, as it provides practical, actionable tips for growing a small business. She also finds inspiration in story-driven shows, like ghost story podcasts to fuel her creativity. 4. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Kris emphasises the power of a well-designed website as the centre of your marketing universe, recommending platforms like Wix, Squarespace or Kajabi. She believes your website should be the focal point that you direct all your marketing activities towards, as it's the best way to convert visitors into paying clients in this digital age.   5. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? If Kris could go back in time, she would tell herself to focus solely on the tasks and clients that truly energise and fulfil her. She learned the hard way that saying "yes" to every opportunity, even if it's outside your zone of genius, can lead to a lot of frustration and burnout. Kris emphasises the importance of having the courage to politely decline work that doesn't align with your passions and strengths, as this will allow you to dedicate your time and resources to the areas that will drive the greatest impact for your business.   Book a 20-minute Growth Chat with Troy Trewin to see if you qualify for our upcoming course.
