What grade does this episode deserve? Did the word "prediction" ever mean anything? Whose name are we writing in a Jokerman font? We frankly turn on each other as we answer these questions and more covering Season 1, Episode 17 of Family Matters. Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.Join our countdown to number one (and our slow descent into madness) in all the places you expect internet people to be:Website: jumpingtheshuttle.spaceEmail: jumpingtheshuttle@gmail.comInstagram: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Twitter: @JumpingShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577TikTok: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Brought to you by Smooth My Balls

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, and we have a Mother of an episode this week with AllTheHipe and Astral Housefly. We have known this duo for quite some time, so this interview gets a little chaotic as we cover all the important topics: from The Golden Age of YouTube to the art of the Slav Squat. At the same time, we do recount last summer's debauchery at Everwild when we were camping neighbors and how they opened up the entire festival weekend as well as how the dynamic between these two has developed over their many years together. This episode was an absolute blast filled with lots of laughs and potentially a few personal jabs...you gotta listen in on this one. New music coming soon including a single called "No White Flags". The brilliant Tim Heidecker chats with Simon and Brian about his gorgeous record High School, his love for Randy Newman, and recreating the yacht rock sound. The comedian, writer, actor and musician also explains why he wrote a hymn for agnostics, and wonders why we keep burying people in the ground when they die.
This week Art and Labor is joined by Vera Drew, director of The People's Joker, history's most anticipated queer-coming-of-age indictment of the contemporary comedy landscape through the lens of Batman's Rogues Gallery. It's not actually all that hard to tell when Tim Heidecker is kidding and when he's not, but it does take a little bit of practice. When he's performing on shows like Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! or Tim & Eric's Bedtime Stories, it's comedy. When he acts in comedic movies, sure, that's comedy as well. But on albums such as his new one, High School, you don't need to listen carefully for the punchline because there isn't one. He's not trying to fake you out with his music, he's giving it you straight as a singer/songwriter with a bit of a 1970's sheen to it.Tim says he's never been diagnosed with depression but he's had some rough times. He talks about losing close friends to drugs and alcohol and he talks about an incident several years ago when he got stabbed by someone he knew.We talk to Tim about comedy, tragedy, and whether a clinical diagnosis of a particular disorder is really all that necessary when dealing with the dark parts of life.Pre-order Tim Heidecker's new album High School, out June 24, 2022 on Spacebomb Records, here. Do we actually have two delightful plots in one week? Has this show gone back to formula? And which scene is giving us nightmares? We can't know how to hear any more about these questions and more as we watch Season 6, Episode 12 of Family Matters.Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. The boys are back and they have a friend with them to laugh at the worst opinions in the country. Elaine (@heylaineys) from @format_guardian and @sportsaregay joins Big Shiny Takes to read a column by Licia Corbella that accuses Canada's top health official of being a puppet of the People's Republic of China. What proof does she have? Well for one Theresa Tam hasn't spent every minute of every press conference denouncing China. Also Jason Kenney said Tam was bad so it has to be true. Here is the column in question. Please read at your own discretion: https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/corbella-criticism-of-dr-tam-by-premier-kenney-good-medicine/As Tim Heidecker once said in The People vs. Tim Heidecker, "You have to consider the China Connection". https://www.reddit.com/r/TimAndEric/comments/8beypc/rosetti_the_rat_refused_to_investigate_the_china/GOOD TAKE: Davide Mastracci - "Don't blame China for your government's failure to contain COVID-19: https://readpassage.com/dont-blame-china-for-your-governments-failure-to-contain-covid-19/
Matt and Mark's Summer of Funny concludes this week with our review of Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. T&C's brand of humor isn't for everyone, but if you can handle its mix of stupidity and darkness, there's genuine comedy to be had. While Ebert's write-off of the movie is understandable (0.5 stars), dopey overweight white guys with a healthy disdain for corporate propaganda (no one we know of course) should enjoy this movie more than your average joe film critic.Download: 171 Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie
Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim created a comedy universe that defies easy explanation. But what Tim and Eric can explain to Marc is how they became friends and developed a signature style in unconventional ways. They also reflect on how that style is evolving as they star in a new TV series and tour the country with a live stage show. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
