Mindfulness, enlightenment, inner-peace. If you are anything like me you might hear these words and glaze over a little bit. Seriously who's got time for that - and does it even make any difference? Today's guest is going to help me (and maybe you) sit with these terms a little longer and explore why they might be useful. Luke McLeod has become one of Australia's most popular thought leaders and practitioners in mindfulness and meditation, having trained in these practices for over two decades. But he didn't arrive on these through wanting to chase calm - he started to explore these as high performance tools. You may also remember Luke from the 2017 season of The Bachlorette here in Australia. His day-job though is teaching meditation practices to support those navigating overwhelm, anxiety, and wanting to drive higher performance. Luke is the founder of The Mindful Life App, Soul Alive, with thousands of members worldwide and the author of his book released this year, Everyday Enlightenment. Bring your curiosity to the forefront as we explore meditation and mindfulness with Luke McLeod.

This week Nicola and Di chat with the wise and inspiring Jacinta Tynan. Jacinta is a well-known journalist, presenter, author, speaker and founder of The Spiritual Book Club. She is also a single mother to two boys, which is something she shares more about in her new book, The Single Mother's Social Club.  In this conversation Jacinta shares what it was like for her when she became a single mother, how lonely and difficult it can be, but why ultimately she saw it as a gift and an opportunity for her to reflect deeply on her life and grow in the ways she needed to.  Jacinta talks about the importance of being present with your emotions and allowing them to pass through you, because the only way to process emotions is to feel them fully. Nicola and Di also open up about their own relationships ending, and what it was like becoming single parents much later in life. They were both able to move through the difficult times and come to a happier place, where they are loving life in their sixties on their own terms.   We also hear about Jacinta's new business, The Spiritual Book Club - an online book club for anyone who loves books about spirituality, personal growth, presence and surrender - books that expand your mind and help connect you to your higher self. Jacinta has already interviewed some incredible authors for the book club like Gabby Bernstein and Deepak Chopra, and she's just getting started. We loved having Jacinta at our back fence. It was like having a good chat with a girlfriend and she shared so many pearls of wisdom. Luke McLeod is a wellness consultant and passionate meditator, whose mission has become to help others reach their potential and find balance in a meaningful and accessible way. Luke first appeared on our screens as a front runner in the race for Sophie Monk's heart on The Bachelorette. Sadly for Soph, that didn't pan out. It wasn't long before Luke was back looking for love in the inaugural Australian season of Bachelor in Paradise, catapulting him into the spotlight once more. When his relationship on the show went the way of many, Luke suddenly found himself at the centre of the wrath of the Bachie fanatics. For many of the people who knew Luke well, the move into reality television seemed like a surprising choice for the former Army officer and philosophical soul. But a transformative experience in India following the breakdown of just about every part of his life, had left Luke open to new experiences in a way he had never been before. In this episode, Luke shares his experiences behind the scenes on The Bachelorette and BIP, his relative fall from grace in the eyes of the Bachie fans and his thoughts on the responsibilities of the networks to provide ongoing care for participants, well beyond their contractual screen time. Luke shares his journey through devastating losses, to finding meaning and strength in meditation, and the drive he feels to share what he has learned along the way. He is passionate about helping others reach their potential and allow themselves the time to just "be". He does this through his teaching platform Soul Alive, offering guided meditation and support in a thoroughly modern, accessible and affordable way.
