Luke's advising Pete to proceed with caution vis à vis chlorinating his own paddling pool, but Mr Donaldson insists it's all under control. It's the rubble and cement-based tasks you have to worry about. In other news, Luke's attempt to support the local produce market left him sorely disappointed and Pete may well have fallen victim to a Del Boy style scam over some posh honey.Plus, we hear all about the first Football Ramble World Cup Watch Party from the perspective of the man in the papier-mâché Richard Keys head.Send us your latest stories, questions and comments here: hello@lukeandpeteshow.com.The Luke and Pete Show is the sometimes ridiculous, always funny podcast with Luke Moore and Pete Donaldson: two men who have time on their hands and a good idea of how to waste it. Pete's been working on a number for a musical about the life and times of Richard Keys, probably not coming to a theatre near you any time soon. But don't be disheartened, because today's episode provides some big questions to entertain and delight. Why don't little boys wear barrels anymore? Can clogs actually be comfortable? Is being 45 minutes late better than being 5 minutes late? Finally, we're back on conspiracy theories and this time there's a graph to help us make sense of things.Send us your latest stories, questions and comments here: hello@lukeandpeteshow.com.The Luke and Pete Show is the sometimes ridiculous, always funny podcast with Luke Moore and Pete Donaldson: two men who have time on their hands and a good idea of how to waste it. At the onsen, it is customary to walk around with your old lad out. Pete, on his recent trip to Japan, followed said custom. On an entirely different note, we return to the subject of bad podcasting, which naturally leads to a chat about Chekhov's gun and Occam's razor. Finally, we learn more about Luke and Pete's respective experiences with road rage, plus some listener correspondence.Send us your latest stories, questions and comments here: hello@lukeandpeteshow.com.The Luke and Pete Show is the sometimes ridiculous, always funny podcast with Luke Moore and Pete Donaldson: two men who have time on their hands and a good idea of how to waste it. Pete's come down with a wicked case of World Cup Fever, exacerbated by the rediscovery of his ceremonial Kevin Keegan rug that will surely have a part to play in this year's tournament. Just keep it away from electronics. Luke, meanwhile, has been to see Boyzone deliver two hours of consummate professionalism at the Emirates. Also present was Brian McFadden who, as Pete knows first-hand, is an excellent surrogate father. Elsewhere on today's show: how to manage conspiracy theorists, a look at the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and yet more tales from the tip.Send us your latest stories, questions and comments here: hello@lukeandpeteshow.com.The Luke and Pete Show is the sometimes ridiculous, always funny podcast with Luke Moore and Pete Donaldson: two men who have time on their hands and a good idea of how to waste it. We sit down with Luke Moore, co-founder of Dental Elite, to unpack the key takeaways from the Dental Elite Goodwill Report and explain the real forces behind the headline valuation stats. If you're planning on buying your first dental practice, selling, or simply trying to understand where the UK dental practice market is heading, this conversation gives you a grounded framework to think clearly. We dig into the “goodwill bubble” claim and why a 10 year view of the FMT multiple looks far flatter than the fear-driven narrative suggests, aside from the unusual COVID spike. From there we explore why valuations can still push higher: more confidence around interest rates, a renewed appetite for ownership among younger dentists, and the simple fact that dental practices have stayed resilient while other asset classes have felt shakier. We also talk about the reality behind profitability, including how principal earnings have risen in cash terms, why associate pay has not kept pace, and how practices have used pricing power to navigate inflation, wage costs and overheads. Then we get practical. Luke explains how bank lending for dentists is shifting, with more competitive margins, longer repayment terms and options like repayment holidays, all of which change affordability and buyer behaviour. We also cover the supply squeeze that's creating faster sales and competitive bidding, plus the changing corporate dentistry landscape as tier one and tier two groups return with sharper deal structures, sometimes offering all cash on completion. Finally, we tackle one of the most surprising signals: NHS practice valuations. With recent NHS dental contract changes such as fluoride applications delivered via skill mix and improved payments for unscheduled care, NHS multiples are rising and groups are paying close attention.———————————————————————Disclaimer: All content on this channel is for education purposes only and does not constitute an investment recommendation or individual financial advice. My giddy aunt. Arsenal have done it! And Southampton, they've... undone it? You'll struggle to find a man in the Kingdom more ecstatic than Jim Campbell this morning, but somehow we found one. Luke Moore is on the verge of self-combustion.They're both joined by Marcus to celebrate Arsenal's title win, and of course debrief on the simply sensational news that Southampton have been booted out of the play-offs. UK Dentists: Collect your verifiable CPD for this episode here >>> https://courses.dentistswhoinvest.com/smart-money-members-club———————————————————————Rumblings about UK reforms to restrictive covenants are getting louder, and the stakes for dentistry are real. We dive straight into how non‑competes work today, where courts draw the line on “reasonableness,” and why a simple radius and duration no longer capture how patients choose their dentist. With expert legal and brokerage insight, we unpack what could happen if the UK edges toward a California‑style model that voids employee non‑competes but leaves non‑solicit and confidentiality on the table. We explore the messy frontier where law meets real‑world behaviour: proving solicitation in an era where patients follow clinicians on Instagram, not clinic websites. A billboard aimed at former patients looks like a breach; a quiet bio update probably does not. That nuance matters for associates planning moves and for principals trying to protect goodwill. We map out what is enforceable now, why “or” clauses (non‑compete or non‑solicit) are treated separately, and how injunctions and loss drive remedies rather than flat “fines.”Then we turn to valuations and risk. If non‑competes weaken, concentrated revenue becomes a liability. Buyers will price in the chance that a high‑grossing associate can walk down the street, while sellers will need to prove income resilience. We share practical strategies: spread production across more clinicians, invest in practice‑level brand and patient experience, tighten confidentiality and data controls, and ensure every associate has a clear, reasonable agreement. For principals exiting, paid non‑competes tied to consideration typically hold more weight than employment‑style restraints and can still secure value if drafted well.Nothing is final yet, but waiting is not a strategy. Audit your contracts, reduce key‑person dependence, and build systems that make patients loyal to your practice, not just one provider. If the law shifts, you will be ready. If it does not, you will still own a stronger, more resilient business.Enjoyed this conversation? Follow, share with a colleague, and leave a quick review to help more dentists find practical legal and valuation insight.———————————————————————Disclaimer: All content on this channel is for education purposes only and does not constitute an investment recommendation or individual financial advice. Check if your dental practice qualifies for capital allowances here >>> https://www.dentistswhoinvest.com/chris-lonergan———————————————————————UK Dentists: Collect your verifiable CPD for this episode here >>> https://courses.dentistswhoinvest.com/smart-money-members-club———————————————————————Want a clear read on where dental practice sales are heading in 2026? We pull the market apart with hard data and lived deal flow: why lenders are back competing, how deposit requirements and margins over base have shifted, and what that means for first‑time buyers who were frozen out when stress tests sat at 9 percent. The short version: activity is strong, but the edge now comes from clean operations, bankable income, and smarter deal structures rather than chasing the highest multiple. We unpack the corporate reset and the rise of microconsolidators. Many large groups paused to protect EBITDA and trim head office cost under inflation pressure and softer private demand. In their wake, tier‑three and tier‑four buyers with lighter structures and cheaper debt have moved fast, often winning not on price but on certainty: more cash on completion, fewer strings, and realistic transition expectations. If you're selling, we show how net proceeds after CGT, risk, and deferred hurdles can make a slightly lower headline number the better outcome. On the valuation front, NHS and mixed practices are regaining heat with recruitment stabilising in major cities and UDA tweaks improving deliverability. Private remains attractive, but associate percentages, lab costs, and marketing spend demand tighter control. We dive into the emerging shift in associate remuneration—transparent lab splits, sliding scales tied to value, and fair cost sharing—to protect margins without endless patient fee hikes. We also flag a key policy watch: potential curbs on non‑competes that could change how goodwill is protected, pushing owners to build moats through brand, patient plans, and clinician engagement.———————————————————————Disclaimer: All content on this channel is for education purposes only and does not constitute an investment recommendation or individual financial advice. Collect unlimited free verifiable CPD for UK Dentists here >>> ———————————————————————Valuations are shifting fast, and so are the rules that shape them. We sat down with dental practice sales expert Luke Moore to map the real market moves behind the headlines: why groups are winning a bigger share of deals, how cheaper debt is fuelling micro-consolidation, and where independent buyers are still paying up for the right assets. If you're weighing a purchase, planning to sell, or just want to understand what your practice is worth in today's climate, this conversation lays out the numbers and the nuance. We dig into the latest data points on deal sizes and EBITDA multiples, separating independent buys from group-led transactions and explaining why some NHS-heavy portfolios are dragging averages down while high-quality private and mixed practices still push toward the high-7x range. Geography and recruitment take centre stage: NHS valuations diverge sharply by region, with London and the South East often outperforming due to easier clinician hiring. We also unpack the thaw in Wales, where signals of a return to an item-of-service style approach and an uplifted hourly rate are drawing buyers back—alongside a sober look at how associate pay expectations could compress EBITDA.Policy is the wildcard. A widely flagged income tax rise could make holding less attractive than selling for many principals, especially as frozen tax bands and the 100k trap quietly raise effective rates. We walk through BADR's step up toward 18% by 2026 and what that means in pure cash terms, plus the practical timing options many owners are modelling to protect their net proceeds. On costs, a likely National Living Wage increase around 4% will ripple through pay differentials, nudging ancillary costs higher and forcing tighter discipline on margins.———————————————————————Disclaimer: All content on this channel is for education purposes only and does not constitute an investment recommendation or individual financial advice. Wonder what's really happening with corporate buyers and whether NHS practices still command premium prices? The data might surprise you.Luke Moore, Head of Dental Elite's practice brokerage team, joins us to unpack the revealing findings from their annual dental market report—a comprehensive analysis representing roughly 25% of all UK dental practice transactions. This insider's view of completed sales (not just valuations) delivers eye-opening insights for anyone considering buying or selling a practice. We dismantle the prevailing "urban myth" that corporates dominate today's acquisition landscape. The reality? Independent dentists purchasing their first, second or third practices remain the primary buyers, while the largest groups have pivoted toward fewer, larger acquisitions with specific strategic focus. The conversation explores why mixed practices command the highest multiples from independent buyers (averaging 3.87x FMT), while private practices are the "jewels in the crown" for corporate buyers (averaging 7.36x EBITDA). Luke shares fascinating details about regional valuation disparities, with practices in recruitment-challenged areas selling for significantly lower multiples than their urban counterparts.Perhaps most revealing is the emerging trend of sellers prioritising complete payment at completion over potentially higher valuations with deferred components—a shift Luke attributes partly to mixed post-sale experiences reported by principals who've previously sold to larger groups.Whether you're a practice owner contemplating your exit strategy, an associate exploring ownership opportunities, or simply interested in the business of dentistry, this data-rich conversation provides crucial context for navigating today's complex dental marketplace.Earn complimentary verifiable CPD by completing the associated assessment through the link in our show notes.———————————————————————Disclaimer: All content on this channel is for education purposes only and does not constitute an investment recommendation or individual financial advice. The device, later revealed to be a hoax, was accompanied by an extortion note demanding money from her wealthy family. What followed was a 10-hour ordeal for Madeleine, an international manhunt, and a legal process that captivated the public and media alike.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The pod welcomes Football Ramble podcast supremo Luke Moore for the latest edition of Mesut Haaland Dicks, as he chooses his six personal fascinations and irritations of football. Among Luke's selections are the early signs of a game turning into a comprehensive thrashing, the physical attributes of a classic double save, a controversial choice for the best camera angle for a penalty, the highly unnecessary admin-theatre of both teams setting up for a free kick, the demise of calling free transfers "a Bosman" and people whose footballing enthusiasm extends no further than their own team. Meanwhile, the Adjudication Panel - featuring returning legend Doc Brown - react to a Paraguayan football take on "hang it in the Louvre!", reflect on the quirks of Sky's mid-2000s PlayerCam innovation and unanimously condemn the word "thunderbastard". This week's episode is extra special because we have our buddy, Luke Moore, from Gunner joining us and we also have Blaine live and in person. We kick off the show learning about Luke and how he got started chasing birds alongside a dog when he was just a boy. Like many people, Luke had the pleasure of growing up in a home where hunting with a dog was a central part of life. Currently, Luke has an older dog, Goose, who he grew up alongside and trained. Luke and Blaine trade a few hunting stories and talk about when their dogs had lightbulb moments and just "got it." Then we jump into Luke's new dog, Dex, and hear about the training and how he is working him through each stage toward being his family's next hunting buddy. It's pretty easy to get hooked on dogs and man, Luke is pretty hooked. Then we chat with Luke about some of Gunner's latest and greatest inventions and how we have tons to look forward to as they continue to innovate our industry. Thanks to Luke for coming on the show, exchanging stories and having a good time. Check out our patreon to get 1:1 coaching, talk directly with Bob and join our happy hour hang outs.
