Tell me if you’ve either heard or said the following phrase before: “It’s all about who you know.” Unfortunately this has become an excuse for many who think the barrier of entry to success in Hollywood (and many other creative industries) is knowing the right people. And of course only the privileged are a part of those prestigious circles…so you might as well give up, right? My guest today, Evita Zhou, is a film & tv editor who has worked in both documentary and narrative in both the United States and China. More importantly, Evita is the perfect example of why “It’s all about who you know” is not a valid excuse…because the solution to this problem is simply to get to know more people, and Evita could teach a masterclass on how to meet people and build relationships. I met Evita years ago at a networking event, and the story of how we first met is quite possibly my favorite Hollywood story of the almost twenty years I’ve been in this business. In our conversation Evita and I talk about how she has steadily built an editing career that she’s passionate about despite not going to film school, not speaking English as her first language, not being from the United States, not being a man, and not being [insert 100 more excuses here]. If Evita’s passion, tenacity, and confidence don’t inspire you to get out there and start building relationships (no matter how awkward, difficult, or scared you are of the networking process), then I suggest checking that you still have a pulse. This week's episode brings you an action-packed discussion with our hosts Abhinandan Sekhri and Rajyasree Sen on Relatable, season 2 of Making A Murderer, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Kareena Kapoor's What Women Want, Honey Singh's Makhna, the trailer of Thackeray and three commercials.Rajyasree and Abhinandan start by exchanging views on Ellen DeGeneres's Relatable and how she's hitting hard on the social stereotype against lesbians. They talk about the payment of $20 million Ellen received for the 68-minute show. Moving on, they discuss the Netflix series Making A Murderer Season 2, written and directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos. They discuss the American phenomenon of making celebrities out of criminals, to which Rajyasree says, “Although in America, I feel they are a little off, so they don't have much happening in their own lives. So they get sucked into these kind of things.”The discussion moves on to Kareena Kapoor Khan's radio show What Women Want on Ishq: 104.8, which is also a video show. They talk about how, unlike a radio show, the show sounds scripted. Abhinandan adds, “Radio is only compelling because it's a conversation that's unfiltered and unrehearsed. That's what makes good talk radio”.Abhinandan and Rajyasree then discuss the trailer of the upcoming movie Thackeray, directed by Abhijit Panse. Abhinandan expresses his curiosity, saying, “The good thing about such films is that now there will be filmmakers getting into political commentary through their cinema. Which is fantastic! And then you'll have a counter-narrative.”This and more, so listen up! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Chip and Cern review Making a Murderer Season 2. If you have yet to see season 1, you will want to watch that first. Some of Chip and Cern’s best YouTube hater comments came from season 1 of Making a Murder. Season 2 got a Certified Fresh ranking on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 review, does Chip and Cern think Avery did the killing? That and more on this episode of the Chip and Cern Show. Both Chip and Cern felt Season 2 of Making a Murderer was a little drawn out. Episodes would have been a lot shorter if they just would have cut every excessive scene where Momma Avery was taking her pills. Chip and Cern both agree that Dassey is innocent and his confession was 100% coursed. Why wasn’t he lawyered up and how did his mom just let him be interviewed. Chip and Cern try to do some real time Googling to solve something that Chip cannot think of and is on the tip of his tongue. Chip and Cern have no choice to believe that the police were involved in Avery’s case and trying to frame him. Most of the blood in the car was more than likely planted in Chip’s mind. Chip and Cern make a few really solid CLUE references. Cern still would still say Avery is guilty. Chip says both are innocent. What did you think about Making a Murderer Season 2? Chip and Cern have some fresh new merch! Tee shirts, hoodies, iPhone and Samsung phone cases and more! Check out the Chip and Cern Merch Store at https://teespring.com/chip-and-cern-heads-unisex-tee Be sure to spread the word around and tell your friends about the Chip and Cern Show. Killers or conspiracy? Justice or just desserts? We dedicate our entire episode to the much-awaited sequel to 2016's breakout hit and cultural phenomenon: Netflix's Making a Murderer 2. Our review takes two paths. First the panel discusses the Brendan Dassey story line. Did it capture the drama of his reversed reversal of fortune? Then on to the tale of Steven Avery's attorney Kathrine Zellner. Does her investigation create more doubt about Avery's conviction? Or is it more of (a different kind of) the same.
