From Ashes To New have had a stellar 2024, with the release of Blackout Deluxe capitalising on the success of the original album and opening up the band to a wider fanbase who got to hear a different side of the band's musical psyche. It is already their best performing album, so much so that it has propelled them across the world for their first visit to Australia when they hit the stage as part of Good Things 2024, starting in Melbourne on December 6 before moving through Sydney and Brisbane over consecutive days. It is hard to believe this will be From Ashes To New's debut performance Down Under, with HEAVY getting the opportunity to talk with guitarist Matt Brandyberry to find out more.In the full interview, Matt expressed his excitement about his first tour of Australia, which he has been wanting to do for over a decade. He mentioned that he has no idea what to expect from Australian crowds and that he is looking forward to a stripped-down, old-school throwdown-style show.We spoke about their performance at Good Things and who he was more looking forward to playing with, the vibe backstage at festivals and catching up with old friends and the difference between the dynamics between bands at festivals and on smaller tours which led to a chat about From Ashes To New's own headlining sideshows. He also mentioned that fans could expect to hear a few different songs from Blackout Deluxe, which featured collaborations with various artists. Matt expressed satisfaction with the album's performance and the positive fan reaction to the risk they took by releasing it. He used the example of Bad Omens' success with their album Death of Peace of Mind to illustrate the importance of taking risks in the music industry.Matt also revealed that From Ashes to New are working on new material, but due to personal and work commitments, the process has been slow. He emphasized the importance of taking risks and being genuine in their music, aiming to create something that will resonate with fans for decades.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Kris PetersLast year's album Blackout by metal outfit From Ashes To New was a groundbreaker for the band, in terms that it encompassed sonic variations from each of their albums and spewed them forth with a fresh, new dynamic that more or less signalled the full coming of age of the popular band. While success of that magnitude generally guarantees the release of a Deluxe version of the album with bonus cuts and/or remixes, more often than not such a move reeks of merely another means to get hard-earned cash from the band's fan base but every so often the obligatory follow-up hits the mark - and then some.Such is the case with Blackout Deluxe, which is set to land on June 7. More than just an afterthought triggered by success, this Deluxe album was actually discussed in the lead-up to the original album, with some songs earmarked for such a release even before Blackout was completed.Blackout Deluxe will consist of the original album's twelve tracks, plus six bonus tracks featuring artists such as Aaron Pauley from Of Mice & Men, Chrissy Costanza from Against The Current, Yelawolf and more. It is more an expansion of the original release rather than an afterthought, with one surprise bonus track featuring guitarist Matt Brandyberry making his debut vocal performance.Brandyberry joined HEAVY to go into Blackout Deluxe in more detail. We start by asking if he gets as excited about releasing a Deluxe album as he did the original album."We've done some deluxe's in the past," he measured, "and I'm not sure that I've had the same excitement levels. But I can say for this one, yes, because there is a track that's not released yet, and it's something that our fans are probably not expecting."We ask about the response to Blackout from fans."I think it was above what I was expecting," he replied. "It's been phenomenal. Our ticket sales are at an all-time high, our merch, VIP, album, everything. We're cruising, man, things are going good."Along those lines, we question Brandyberry on how a band measures the success of an album in the modern age of music."I think it's overall streaming," he nodded. "Some of that doesn't matter, I don't think, because you'll see an artist or a band that streams really high, but then they don't have anyone at their shows, and sometimes you can see the exact opposite. I think to know if what you're doing is working is if people are all-encompassing. Are people wearing your new merch? Are they listening to your new music? Are they going to your shows? It's kind of all of it together."In the full interview, Matt runs us through each of the six bonus tracks individually, talks about the guest artist on each and why, the genesis of these songs in relation to the original Blackout, the song which features his vocals, their current tour and upcoming shows, new album conversations, giving the fans what they want musically and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

This week's edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST features FROM ASHES TO NEW singer Danny Case. FROM ASHES TO NEW hail from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with musician Matt Brandyberry being the founding and sole constant member of the group. The band has released three studio albums, being Day One (2016), The Future (2018), and Panic (2020).  FROM ASHES TO NEW recently delivered an intense and captivating new single “Nightmare,” taken from their upcoming as-yet-titled fourth studio album which is due this summer via Better Noise Music. “Nightmare” masterfully showcases the dual vocal abilities of Brandyberry and singer Danny Case in contrasting heavy rock anthemic choruses with nu-metal/rap rock verses.  “Betrayal by someone we trust happens to the best of us,” says Case. “We befriend someone, let them in, build a connection and then all of a sudden they turn into someone unrecognizable. Someone you once trusted and cared for so deeply is now a backstabbing enemy. In a heartbeat, the person you once thought you knew is now gone. There aren't many things in life that cut quite as deep as betrayal. Erasing that person from your life and moving forward is the only way to wake up from the nightmare.” In the interview, Danny talks about the upcoming album, how he was brought into the band, appearing in a horror movie and more. Also, host Scott Penfold discusses the recent reunion between MEGADETH and former guitarist Marty Friedman which recently took place in Tokyo, Japan. Fans of the "Rust In Peace" era of the band were definitely looking forward to Marty's appearance and Dave Mustaine and comany definitely delivered at the legendary Budokan.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Marcos Curiel of P.O.D. over Zoom video! P.O.D. — Sonny Sandoval [vocals], Marcos Curiel [guitar], Traa Daniels [bass], and Wuv Bernardo [drums] — have announced their upcoming summer and fall tour plans. The band will embark on a headline tour of the U.S., celebrating the 20th anniversary of their landmark, multi-platinum album Satellite. The tour kicks off August 14 and runs through October 7 in their native San Diego. From Ashes to New, All Good Things, and Sleep Signals will also appear. All dates are below. Tickets are available here."We've been touring and working hard for almost 30 years now," Sandoval says. "It's all we know. This past year has really made me realize how much I love what I do and how much I appreciate that I am still able to make music and play live for all of those who are still listening. Thank you to all of you who still love live music and can't wait to be a part of the P.O.D. experience. We can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces out on the road."Curiel shares the sentiment, saying, "It's been way too long. We are beyond excited to get back to the stage — where we provide the rock and you provide the roll. From familiar faces to new ones, let's get back to what we've all been waiting for. We are ready as a band to create new memories with you all. Let's do this! Peace, love, light, and rock 'n' roll."From Ashes to New's Matt Brandyberry weighed in about the tour, saying, "In 2001, we were literally 'The Youth of the Nation' and P.O.D.'s hit was an anthem to so many of us. Satellite was an album that helped shape a genre and will go down as one of the greatest records of that era. We are honored to join them on this U.S. tour to help celebrate 20 years of an absolute masterpiece." Additionally, P.O.D. will drop the SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION as a double-CD and digitally on September 3 for $24.98 through Rhino. It is available for pre-order now. Releasing a few days before the album's official anniversary on September 11, the 27-song collection introduces a newly remastered version of the original album, plus a selection of rarities, remixes, and four previously unreleased demos, including "Alive (Semi-Acoustic Version)," available today. A few weeks later, on October 8, SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be released on vinyl as a double-LP as a part of Rhino's Rocktober campaign.  After debuting at #6 on the Billboard 200, SATELLITE went on to sell more than seven million copies worldwide, including three million in the U.S. The record generated four singles: the title track, "Alive," "Youth of the Nation," and "Boom." In addition to its commercial success, Satellite also earned P.O.D. three Grammy nominations for: "Alive" (Best Hard Rock Performance, 2002), "Portrait" (Best Metal Performance, 2003), and "Youth of the Nation" (Best Hard Rock Performance, 2003).  SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION has a bonus disc that includes b-sides like "Critic" and "Sabbath" that were initially released in Europe, plus remixes for "Boom" by The Crystal Method and "Youth of the Nation" by Mike$ki.  P.O.D.
