Inkcarceration is aiming even higher in 2026 after drawing a record 90,000 fans across three sold-out days last year at the Ohio State Reformatory. The July 17 through 19 festival will bring more than 65 bands to Mansfield, including headliners like Disturbed, Bad Omens and Limp Bizkit, while continuing to mix live music with tattoo culture and the prison’s one-of-a-kind setting. We talk about the very real pushback they got from traditional hardcore bands for wearing tight pants, why they skipped the "paying your dues" phase, and a wild story about a lost Skrillex remix that never saw the light of day. We also get into the current state of songwriting and the uncomfortable reality of AI tools pushing pop artists to either innovate or be replaced. "We were in that phase of wearing tight jeans, girl pants... we were kind of in a heavier scene, and so there was still hardcore bands that weren't really into that at all. We got a lot of pushback and hate because of that." "AI highlighted to me how formulated pop music actually is. And I think what it's forcing actual big pop artists to do now is to push the boundaries and mix it up more, because if they don't, they will be replaced by AI." With inspiration ranging from bands like Dayseeker, Bring Me The Horizon, and Bad Omens, After Hour Animals is a rock/metalcore band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin that formed in 2020. Since releasing their EP "Remember This" on 3/20/20, After Hour Animals has taken their music from the shores of Lake Michigan to the globe. Their 2020 single "All It Takes" has topped 1.1 million streams on Spotify alone, while their single "Dangerous" is over 800,000 Spotify streams since its December 2022 release.  Over the past two years since their last appearance on March Forth with Mike Bauman, After Hour Animals has undergone lineup changes, and been hard at work releasing new music for their fans.  In this episode, Fred from Alaska recounts a chilling first-hand encounter with a creature known as the 'Hairy Man' by Joseph and his cousins during a fishing trip in 1987. The story includes eerie whistling sounds, sightings of a large neanderthal-like figure, and the superstitions that are perpetuated in light of such encounters. Fred also discusses a subsequent trip taken by Joseph and his brother to the same location, resulting in another close call with the creature. Additionally, Fred shares an experience from his relative Nikolai, who had a similar chilling encounter with the Hairy Man while on a hunting trip near the New Yauk River.
