Interview by Kris PetersHouse of Protection, the new venture from Stephen Harrison and Aric Improta, serves as a sanctuary for those who surrender to impulse. Abandoning any regard for tradition and form, they followed a feeling and unearthed a sound that sees them push their limits further than ever before. Bridging the not so disparate worlds of hardcore, electronica, and punk, the two forged a space for boundless creativity and a community fuelled by chaos. The band is a project created by formerly two-thirds of Fever 333 (Stephen & Aric), they're signed to Red Bull Records and backed & produced by legendary producer and ex-Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist Jordan Fish AND are featured on Architects upcoming album. House Of Protection are in Australia for the first time, supporting Bad Omens with Poppy across the nation, and HEAVY caught up with Stephen & Aric not long before their recent show at Brisbane's Riverstage."It's been awesome so far," Aric began. "Honestly, we didn't really know what to expect, especially walking up because Bad Omens audience looks very much like a Bad Omens audience (laughs). They are there for that band, but they have been really receptive. It's cool to be on such an eclectic tour because it doesn't feel competitive. It just feels like everybody's expressing themselves honestly, and that's always a cool situation to walk in to."In the full interview, we spoke about the tour and how it is going, the band's formation from the ashes of Fever 333, their musical direction, getting the mix of styles right in the creative process, their recent EP track by track, plans to come back to Australia and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Disclaimer: This is a weak take — mostly based on anecdotes and vibes — but I thought it's worth sharing nonetheless, even if only as a means of soliciting better takes. Disclaimer #2: I am very appreciative of everyone who is working tirelessly to pursue farmed animal protection via policy, and I want nothing more than to see it succeed! I just suspect it's going to be a longer and more difficult journey than I anticipated a few years ago, and that this is worth having an open and public conversation about. I fear the policy landscape for farmed animal protection work is looking more and more bleak. The election results from last night have reinforced this fear, with animal-friendly measures failing across the ballot, a Republican trifecta set to rule for at least two years, RFK Jr. in line to act as appointed czar of HHS/FDA/USDA, etc. [...] ---Outline:(01:06) Abolitionist ballot measures lost big in 2024.(03:20) Incrementalist ballot measures — previously some of the movement's biggest wins — may simply be undone.(04:54) We have opponents on the left and the right.(06:34) Cultivated meat is under fire. On episode 150 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Trauma Therapy! Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trauma Therapy is a metalcore/rock band that formed in 2022. With influences ranging from Motionless In White, Dayseeker, and Bad Omens, Trauma Therapy's goal is to connect with listeners by sharing their real life experiences with mental health and perseverance through trauma. That goal is embodied in Trauma Therapy's debut single "Fix My Heart." The emotionally charged track deals with singer Chris Carrington's real life experiences as a therapy patient, and the everyday happenings that accompanied his coping and healing journey. Released on August 23rd, "Fix My Heart" also has an equally emotional music video which features Chris' wife, Jill, who is the lead singer in Charlotte-based rock band Forever May Fall. Since its release, "Fix My Heart" is already resonating with music fans. In less than a month, the music video is nearing 10,000 views on YouTube, while the single is approaching 10,000 streams on Spotify alone. Working with the likes of Pangea Productions (Killakoi), Will Baker (Hollow Intent), Cody Weissinger (The Funeral Portrait), and Colt Crevar (Forever May Fall), Trauma Therapy is just scratching the surface of their potential and creativity in the metalcore and modern rock realms, with more music on the way. In this episode, Chris and drummer Aaron Kirkland talk with Mike about how they linked up for Trauma Therapy, how they got into music, Chris' mental health journey, how "Fix My Heart" came to be, Jill's support and companionship through Chris' struggles and healing, the music they're working on, and more. This episode also features the aforementioned "Fix My Heart" from Trauma Therapy, available where you get your music! Follow Trauma Therapy on Instagram @traumatherapy.official. Doc Coyle is back on the podcast! He's one of our favorite personalities in the game and he's here to celebrate his first solo song release “Livin' On The Edge.” The song came out last week, along with its Falling Down inspired music video. We breakdown his take on a classic film and approach and the joy of creating a music video that references such a great movie. The conversation also heads into our love for film and filmmakers discussing Joel Schumacher, sequels having to always go camp with intense topics in masculinity, how masculinity has changed through the years and how classics films will be seen, and his preference of Tony Scott over Ridley Scott as a filmmaker. We also discuss metal fans being negative towards him being in Bad Wolves because of the elitist mentality in our scene, why he feels jealousy doesn't play a part in negativity towards legendary bands success, and his upcoming co-headlining tour with Pop Evil in North America. Petar and Brandon breakdown the week of countdowns that lead us to Linkin Park's delayed announcement and who the fans would embrace as the new singer of Linkin Park, Michael Sweet's comment about not knowing any Metallica songs, and the Cancer Christ frontman deciding to spend a decade or more behind bars for some craziness. On this episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Colt Crevar and Adam "Crabby" Crabtree of Forever May Fall! Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Forever May Fall is a four-piece rock band that's on the rise. Founded in 2017 by vocalist and songwriter Jillyan "Fox" Brennan, Forever May Fall is rounded out by Crevar (guitar/vocals), Crabby (drums), and Patrick "Sweez" Swesey (bass). After releasing their self-titled, debut LP in 2019, Forever May Fall had their momentum halted from the COVID-19 pandemic and a lineup change. Since that time, the band has honed their craft and polished their sound with the new lineup. With influences ranging from Evanescence, Bad Omens, Halestorm, Underoath, and Spiritbox, Forever May Fall has put their songwriting and musical chops on full display since the pandemic. Their 2022 single "Aftermath" has garnered over 350,000 streams on Spotify alone, while the music video for their latest single "Who You Are" has over 59,000 YouTube views since its August 2023 release. Having worked with producers like Joshua Landry (Motionless in White, LØ Spirit, Funeral Portrait), Kile Odell, (Fozzy, Motionless in White, Nita Strauss) and Wes Lauterbach (Lowborn), Forever May Fall is just scratching the surface of their potential with new music in store for 2024. In this episode, Colt and Crabby catch up with Mike about what they've been up to since the last time they spoke, including their tour earlier this year with their friends in MKNLY, meeting new fans on the road who love their music, what it's been like to see the streams and music video views for Forever May Fall continue to rise, defining what success means to them, the importance of mental health, the new music the band has in store for 2024, and more. This episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman also features "Who You Are" from Forever May Fall, available where you get your music! Follow Forever May Fall on Instagram @forevermayfall. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Jake Duzsik of HEALTH. Chad Ruhlig of For the Fallen Dreams joins Joshua Toomey and Talk Toomey. Chad talks about the early days of the band, how he joined as a bass player, and the transition to vocals. He reflects on the challenges of being in a band, including touring and his decision to leave the band and his eventual return, emphasizing the impact of nostalgia and his motivation to continue making music. He shares insights into rejoining the band and the changes in dynamics upon his return, highlighting the importance of perseverance and hard work in the music industry. The guys delve into the current landscape of metalcore music, with Chad expressing optimism about its growth and popularity. They mention bands like Bad Omens and Spiritbox as examples of the genre's increasing prominence, noting their ability to blend heavy elements with powerful choruses. Reflecting on the influence of nu metal, the guys reminisce about their own upbringing with bands like Slipknot, acknowledging how nu metal's resurgence has subtly infiltrated modern metalcore. Transitioning to touring experiences, they compare the convenience of services like DoorDash now to the challenges of finding food on the road in earlier years. Additionally, they touch on the stark contrast in fan engagement between regions, with South American fans displaying remarkable enthusiasm compared to audiences in the United States. They touch upon the prevalence of nostalgic sentiments among fans, particularly regarding music, and how it can shape perceptions of newer material. The discussion then delves into the Chad's family background in bluegrass music, highlighting his grandfather's influence as a musician. He expresses a desire to honor his grandfather's legacy through a potential collaboration blending country music with his own metalcore style. The conversation concludes with love for the latest For The Fallen Dreams release and a sense of excitement for future musical endeavors. Tomorrow, the Great American Eclipse will sweep across North America, and millions will experience total darkness. It's an eerie and mysterious experience even though at this point, we know exactly what's happening: the moon passes in front of the sun, casting a shadow over earth. But imagine you lived in the ancient world, with no warning that an eclipse was about to happen, as the sun's disk suddenly disappeared and the day fell dark and cool. Unsurprisingly, eclipses were often seen as bad omens. That was true in Mesopotamia, the region that today includes Iraq, Syria, Kuwait and Turkey. But even then, ancient Mesopotamian astronomers were looking for other explanations.Watching an eclipse is one of humanity's oldest rituals, and it's been inspiration to scientists since the beginning of time.
