Edward Crowe was 16 years old when he was completely paralyzed. No warning. A rare disease called Guillain-Barré Syndrome attacked his nervous system, collapsed his lung, and left him on life support in the ICU for months. Doctors told him he'd always be weaker than his peers. He decided to prove them wrong. That experience quietly shaped everything that came after. The graffiti crew. The magic shows. The pivot from aspiring hip hop artist to trusted confidant of one of the most gifted musicians in the game. The 13-hour drive on zero sleep to launch Murder Cigars at a cigar festival in Pennsylvania. And the healing ceremonies he now holds on his land, in the dark, in the woods, where people go in broken and come out reborn. In this episode, Edward opens up about what it felt like to be trapped inside his own body at 16, the mailman who gave him the will to live, the grandfather who passed him the torch of endurance during their parallel recoveries, losing his mother and being present for every moment of her final passage, and why the last words she ever spoke were "that's good."He also breaks down the art of the pivot, his brotherhood with Yelawolf, what it means to leave the world better than you found it, and why he goes nine grams deep into the forest with nothing but fire and silence.Connect with Edward Crowe:Instagram: @edward.croweWebsite: edwardcrowe.comYouTube: Edward Crowe 369Murder Cigars: murdercigar.comSubscribe, leave a review, and share this with someone who needs to hear it.00:00 ICU Journal Darkness00:35 Mushrooms Final Words01:02 Podcast Welcome Guest02:18 Life Today Hustle03:34 Delaware Roots Nashville04:29 Mysticism Magic Graffiti07:47 Guillain Barre Ordeal11:05 Hope Recovery Humor18:48 Relearning To Walk25:22 Rebuilding With Grandfather29:35 Mother Intuition Loss34:57 Time With Parents36:19 Recovery Back To School37:59 Relentless Rehab Mindset39:22 Lessons From Being Trapped42:43 Graffiti Mentors And Crew45:10 AI And Creative Value48:10 Collective Energy And Faith53:04 Creativity As Therapy59:17 Mushrooms And Finding Purpose01:03:05 Ceremony Mindset And Network01:08:38 Mushrooms Calling You01:09:40 No Such Thing Bad Trip01:11:47 Alcohol Switch Flips01:13:36 Why Healing Ceremonies Win01:14:18 Retreat Energy Concerns01:18:22 Seasonal Death Rebirth01:19:35 Heavy Trip Fatherhood Fear01:22:00 Darkness Retreat Curiosity01:24:45 Music City Origins01:26:36 Reconnecting With Yelawolf01:29:49 Pivot Into Management01:33:17 Tour Hustle Skill Stacking01:37:00 Facing Fear Bare Knuckle01:40:29 Brotherhood Through Combat01:41:14 Primal Pack Mentality01:41:51 Launching Murder Cigars01:43:12 Festival Grind And Breakthrough01:47:18 Brand Symbolism And Meaning01:51:03 Growth Plans And Packaging01:53:31 Healing Ceremony Work01:55:28 High Dose Set And Setting01:59:10 Guiding A Hard Journey02:03:47 Misconceptions And Respect02:06:02 Leaving The World Better02:08:26 Final Question And Resources02:09:27 Show Mission And Outreach#RelentlessPursuit #EdwardCrowe #GuillainBarre #HealingCeremonies #MurderCigars #YelaWolf #NearDeathExperience #Rebirth #MensWork #Brotherhood #Transformation #NashvillePodcast #HealingJourney #MusicIndustry #OvercomingAdversity #SpiritualHealing #SpiritualAwakening #CigarLife #MindsetShift #RebornNotBroken
Comedian Druski obliterates Turning Point USA's hive queen Erika Kirk by parodying some of her controversial moments. Like when she said the world needs more "white male men" or mailmen it wasn't really too clear. Since we are on the topic of jokes, Comedian Learnmore Jonasi is served on stage by way of 'Lion King' Composer,Lebo M. The suit is for 27 MILLLION! Good Lord that's a lot of money for a joke told on a podcast. Last things: 1. Rapper, Yelawolf has come out as "not white". For a man who crafted his career as a red neck country boy aka Catfish Billy...this shocked a few fans. Including Instructor BK Spades himself, who is from the same neck of the woods as the rapper. BK mos def got thoughts on this one.2. A quadruple amputee and profession corn hole player is accused of murdering a man. We know that's pretty unbelievable. That's our thoughts exactly. But as unbelievable as that is....the story the details are even more movie like. Instructor Novacaine definitely something to say here.#Yelawolf #Druski #ErikaKirk #TPUSA #LearnmoreJonasi #Disney #Lionking

On this episode of Bringin' It Backwards, Adam Lisicky sits down with Doobie, an artist whose raw blend of rock and hip hop—and brutally honest storytelling—has built a dedicated fanbase. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Doobie shares how a childhood filled with his mom's eclectic music—from Metallica to Tupac—sparked his love for genre-bending sounds. He opens up about writing poetry as a kid, turning those words into rap verses, and eventually teaching himself beat-making and engineering in high school. The conversation digs deep into how one chance encounter with a local DJ completely changed his career, how touring with Jelly Roll and Yelawolf shaped him as an artist, and the wild, almost-derailed journey behind his breakout track "When the Drugs Don't Work"—a song that exploded on YouTube and changed his life overnight. Doobie gets vulnerable about his battles with addiction, finding purpose in recovery, and pushing his music head-first into a bold, rock-driven direction ("Early Bird Gets the Whiskey" is just the beginning). If you're an aspiring musician (or just love real stories from artists on the rise), you'll find plenty of inspiration—and unfiltered truth—right here. Stick around to hear advice you won't get anywhere else, and don't forget to subscribe to Bringin' It Backwards for more backstage stories from today's most compelling artists.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For Edward Crowe, each step along that path has brought its own costs and gains, losses and lessons, as well as opportunities to see reality through a different lens. From childhood, young Edward was captivated by all things magical and otherworldly, fueled by numerous books on spirituality and the occult that his grandmother gave him. As a teenager, he excelled as a magician, performing both close-up and stage magic until, at 16, Guillain-Barré syndrome left him paralyzed and on life support. What followed was a painful, years-long recovery, during which he was forced to confront his own determination. Discipline rebuilt his body, but it was creativity and spirituality that fostered a new perception. While moving through the ranks of the music business, from roadie to tour manager, to artist management, and accomplished photographer, Crowe turned to the study of sacred plant medicine and of psychedelics as a way of grounding. "Things were so hectic on the road and there were so many different personalities & energies everywhere. The ceremonies became a way of re-centering and showing me new ways to think about problem solving and who I am in all this." From student participating in psilocybin ceremonies to guiding them, he once told an uninitiated "I wouldn't say psilocybin's the answer, more so, it's a key that can unlock the door that leads to the answer." Amongst his peers, Edward Crowe has become a trusted psychedelic guide and mentor, helping them to-see the bigger picture within themselves. "That's what 'Happy Birthday is - a daily reminder that every day is the first day of the rest of your life. It's yours to embrace. It's yours to live." - Happy Birthday! Edward Crowe, co-founder of Sebek Distribution & CEO of Murder Cigars, is a music business executive, entrepreneur, internationally published photographer and mystic whose 20+ year career bridges entertainment, spirituality, and cultural innovation.Unlocking Humanity with Host John Edmonds Kozma Hosted on Acast. We kick off with a quick bit of admin: NZ Mardi Gras ≠ Sydney's Mardi Gras — this one's the mountain music blowout at Ruapehu. Then it's straight into Caamzie's guest questions: ball-grooming misadventures (the “nut-cutter 2000s” versus a careful no-guard trim), what he'd buy first with a billion (spoiler: box of piss, drift track, houses for the crew, and an open chequebook for mates with real business plans), and his biggest screw-up — flipping a freshly bought Surf in a park donut session with a cabin full of mates, engine screaming in a diesel runaway while he's hanging upside down by the belt and booting at the window. Everyone walked away; the truck didn't. We round it out with teen firsts, most-famous run-ins (Nyjah & Yelawolf), a one-punch dust-up that turned into a dance-floor melee, and the crucial closer: any animal as a pet? Give the man a dragon (or Appa). It's rough, raw, and very, very Caamzie.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This episode needs no introduction: Shooter Jennings joins Donnie and Dave to discuss his dad's cache of recordings, the process of bringing together three albums' worth of new Waylon Jennings music, and his feelings about the first installment, Songbird. Shooter talks at length about the discovery of Waylon's previously unreleased music, his relationship with his legendary dad and his own role as a father of two. This one was big for the Country Music Dads, as there couldn't be a more perfect topic for this podcast. Show Notes1:24 -- Shooter tells us about the discovery of these songs and how the Songbird project came together. 6:12 -- Dave says it was surreal to hear these songs in 2025. Shooter felt the same way. And then he knew he had to share this with others so they could have the same experience. 8:26 -- The Myth vs. The Man: Shooter explores what fans might be able to take from these projects. 10:42 -- Shooter's childhood on the road and why he's tired at shows regardless of how much sleep he gets. 12:20 -- Waylon the Artist vs. Waylon the Dad. Shooter kept true to the art but modernized it a bit — “letting the music on the tape talk.” That said, the experience of going through this chapter of his dad's life was very special to Shooter. 20:07 -- As a producer, the process of this project was a bit different for Shooter because Waylon is no longer with us; he is his father, and there was so much more material than usual. So he wanted to make it last to “make it like Waylon is here for a minute.” 23:00 -- Donnie asked about how relationships impact Shooter's production style. He specifically pointed to Turnpike Troubadour's last two albums and the fan backlash after Cat in the Rain. Shooter's direct and honest answer provides an interesting view into his producing style.28:58 -- The Dads ask Shooter how the production on the next albums fit together and how they tell a story. We also learn that there are several other projects to come from this collection of recordings, including songs by his mother, Jessi Colter. It's like a little Marvel Universe of Waylon Jennings, they joke. But wouldn't that be cool?30:40 -- How this project impacts Shooter's legacy and his kids' vision of him. 36:30 -- What's next for Shooter? He's working with Charley Crockett and BJ Barham of American Aquarium again.Thank you for listening.
