Born in Springfield, IL and raised in Ottawa, Maurice spent his formative years balancing football and music. Encouraged to ttade rapping for singing by his big sister Kelsey Vaz the siblings formed RetroFuture and garnered buzz and radio support from Hot 89.9 north of the border. Accepted to Choate Rosemary Hall Prep School in Connecticut to play football, the prospective All-American running back made a pivotal choice.“I always thought football was the thing,” he admits. “Once I got to Connecticut, I started feeling these weird, mixed emotions. Music was tugging on my heart. I was falling out of love with the game, but I was making some of the best tracks of my life at night after practice. It ended up changing the landscape for me. BHL: Next –Rhelin T sits down with singer Maurice Moore as he talks about his latest EP Destination Unknown! @Mauricemoore An artist whose material alternates between romantic and carefree modes with easygoing flair, Maurice Moore is among a crop of Canadians with a like-minded approach to contemporary R&B. The singer and songwriter, originally from Springfield, Illinois and raised in Ottawa, spent his early years developing his athletic and musical talents. While attending prep school in Connecticut, his interest in football waned as he made late-hour strides with music. Once he opted to devote all his energy to writing and singing, he connected with a Toronto-based management company and in 2015 started releasing tracks such as "Ready" and "Sex U Back 2 Sleep." Moore's singles multiplied during 2016 and 2017, a period highlighted by "The Loudest Silence." By the end of the latter year, Moore released The Amber Room, a full-length he classified as a mixtape. Thanks to everyone who supported the show this year. 2017 has been a good un so it's that time again when I take a look back over the past 12 months and pull out some of my favourite cuts that were released this year.
