We can all picture that moment where the adult lets go and the kid keeps pedalling…they are doing it, they are biking on their own!! Mike Chan calls that the PedalHead moment. We want every kid to have that moment, not only for their own self-confidence and the opportunity to learn a life-long sport, but also for the quality family time that comes along with it. Today's podcast shares all the bike tips and tricks, from how to get started, to how to fit a helmet correctly!     Mike Chan is a dad to a 2-year-old, and 6-year-old, plus they often have their dog in tow in the outdoors! They love to find new playgrounds, go on hikes, and play in the snow when it visits them in Vancouver, BC. Mike is also the Marketing Manager for PedalHeads.    PedalHeads has kids programming across North America. They are most known for their biking, but they also offer swim lessons and trail riding programs. They are all about bringing families together by adding a confidence to riding!    Starting Kids Biking:  Get kids on a bike around age 2, for comfort (you can start indoors)  Watch other kids biking  Join PedalHeads camp as young as 2-years-old, with parent and tot option  Benefits of starting with a balance bike: gives them the feeling of gliding  Benefits of starting with training wheels: learns the pedalling motion  Get off training wheels & learn to ride with Pedalheads - https://youtu.be/hoZX59J1JqA  Learning to Bike Game (water the flowers) - https://youtu.be/TP95YuMbaes  Learning to Bike Game (lines and circles) - https://youtu.be/slNrJk7MjnA  Biking with Babies:  Add a chariot to your bike  Add a bike chair to your bike, once child has proper neck strength and can wear a helmet (after 1-year)  You don't need the latest, greatest, most expensive bike – the most important part is getting the right size. Check second-hand bike stores, Facebook Market Place, or hand-me-downs from other siblings/friends.     Choosing a Helmet:  Helmets should not be secondhand  Follow the 4 S's: check strap, sticker on there for how old it is, shake your head to check tightness, retention system on the back is ideal for loosening or tightening according to a child's head and it will fit them better  Helmet should protect the forehead and back of head - only two fingers (horizontal) should fit above eyebrows  Brand doesn't matter, as long as it fits properly!  [However,] Brands Mentioned: Giro Scamp & Louis Garneau Raid  Bike and Helmet Fit - https://youtu.be/0mpz1cj2caE  If You Choose to Bike in Winter:  Watch for ice (be cautious)  Be aware of traffic  Have reflective gear, so you can easily be spotted  Recommendations:  Books: The Elephant and Piggie Series by Mo Willems   Show: Ted Lasso  Podcast: Finding Cleo    PedalHeads is Located In:   Canada: BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec  USA: Washington State, Oregon, Colorado, Illinois, Texas, DMV Region, Massachusetts  Follow PedalHeads:  www.pedalheads.com  PedalHeads on Facebook, IG, Twitter & YouTube     Check out KWE's #patch4apurpose to support 1, or all 8, charities: https://kidswhoexplore.com/product/original-explorer-patch4apurpose/    Today's Host: @adriannaadventures & @laurenrodycheberle from @kidswhoexplore  Production: @kpmediaproductions. "Don't follow the herd. Don't follow the trends. Do your research and study whats happening.” Mike Chan ( @uncle_mike_80) takes on a journey that sheds light onto who he is and why he is passionate and interested in the things he is. As we all know self awareness is key and he seems to have a good understanding of who he is, at least up to this point in time in his life. We start off going into the world of podcasting and how a simple invitation to listen and be on a friends podcast became the lead domino to sharing his own ideas, thoughts and experiences. In his later 30's Mike took it upon himself to learn some new skills and head back to university to acquire knowledge in business and real estate. At first it was slightly uncomfortable but a new perspective was formed when realizing he was there to learn what he was excited for and not just checking of the boxes of required courses. Mike shares his insights on watching first hand people lose everything or close to it during the housing crash as people attempted to keep up with the Jones', who ever those people are. learning from others peoples mistakes and avoiding making moves because everyone around him has helped minimize regret in his life. We wrap up going down memory lane, discuss his introduction to the EDM culture that has been demonized for its excess and wildness. Whats Mike have planned for the future?   The post Lifestyle Guru, Life Skills That Matter, Stephen Warley Show 003 appeared first on mitchellchadrow.com Lifestyle guru, Stephen Warley, is the entrepreneur, podcast host behind the venture #lifeskillsthatmatter.  The power of his website is that he is so willing to share his own lifestyle experiments to show each of us just what is possible.    The main theme is having the courage to be yourself, continue developing and telling your personal story and stop ignoring your inner voice.   He says start by changing your habits.  Your life is the sum of your habits and "You are what you do"  People feel stuck and he helps people figure out what's holding them back by asking important questions today!  The transition from employee to self employed entrepreneur understand why you want the change, figure out what problem you want to solve, how do you want to work differently. Success for him being myself 100% of the time because when you’re an employee you cant be in alignment with who you really are - radical to be self employed For Stephen success and freedom is controlling his time and an example he says is not having to wake up in the morning to an alarm clock.  When you go into business you must clearly define the problem you want to solve and figure out how you are going to get paid for it.   You go into business to help others solve their problems.  On partnerships your partner has to be more than just a friend, they must be aligned with how you work and each must bring their own complimentary strengths to the business. Entrepreneur's need to be self motivated, create a lot of content and address community issues that need to be solved.  You must get clear on your core habits, answer community questions that solve their problems, don’t get caught up in technical issues but focus on habits first then results.  Before launching his next podcast he is taking his own advice by starting with a blog and creating content first.  He has established the habit of writing 3000 words in the morning then he focuses on the results.  For self employed entrepreneurs its so important to know your personality, values, motivations, what if anything is holding you back, expectations, work needs and what your energy levels look like throughout the day.  Start today by telling  your story so that when people ask you what you do don’t just tell them what you are doing now tell them what you want to do in the future.  You want to change your future change your mindset today! Not only that, he is also the Founder and Host of his own show, the Go and Grow Podcast. Where he interviews entrepreneurs and industry leaders to learn how they launch and grow products and companies. STRATEGIES USED TO FUND BUSINESS My businesses are often bootstrapped. I’ve either started them working on the side while working a full time job or leaving a full time job and doing some consulting. There are certainly pros and cons to that but the bottom line is…just make it happen. Funding from outside sources is not necessary to create a startup FOUNDERS The first startup that I worked on didn’t last very long. And it was because of founder issues. One of the biggest problems for non-technical entrepreneurs like me who are trying to get into a tech startup is to find technical co-founders. I found 3 technical cofounders really quickly and what happened was that I essentially got married without dating. It failed a couple months down the road. We couldn’t agree on the next steps, we couldn’t agree on the strategy and the vision of the company. And this was the startup I quit my full-time job for. Date before you marry. HUGE SUCCESS I haven’t got to the point, at least in my eyes, when I realized I’ve achieved great success. You have to celebrate the small successes. One of the things that I look at is just seeing the fruits of your labor when you’ve worked hard. SUPERPOWER I think empathy is my greatest strength. Whether in business or life in general, I think I’m pretty good at putting myself in other people’s shoes and seeing things from their view. KRYPTONITE My kryptonite is that I am a Jack of All Trades, but a Master at None. It’s tough for me. I like to know a lot about a lot of things, but it’ll serve me well to focus on one thing and get really strong at that. IF YOU CAN HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER I want to be able to read people’s minds. Empathy is part of this, but I’m definitely not at the point of reading people’s minds.
