“Look who’s back” es la nueva entrega de The Nude Party. Lollapalooza happened in Chicago last weekend, July 31 to August 3, and I was there to once again sitting down on the couch in the Media Area with amazing artists!! For this Part 1 of my Lollapalooza Series, I sat down with Ratboys, one of my favorite Chicago bands, with whom I had an awesome conversation — and they've got a new album coming out early next year, so heads up for that!!I also loved this interview I did with the founders of French psych band, La Femme, Sasha Got and Marlon Magnée. Childhood pals from Biarritz, France, Sasha and Marlon were steeped in French surf culture and the sounds of SoCal punk and rockabilly. They talk to me about their amazing story of cross-cultural and cross-genre exploration that represents the soul of La Femme.==============================Episode Chapters:00:00 Episode and Lollapalooza Series Intro with Host Josh Rosenberg02:55 Introducing Ratboys05:30 Interview with Ratboys23:35 Ratboys wrap-up with Host Josh Rosenberg25:30 Introducing La Femme27:50 La Femme Interview43:23 La Femme wrap-up and Episode conclusion with Host Josh Rosenberg================================For more information on Roadcase:https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

In 2023, Ratboys released their latest album The Window, and it was our fav of the year. We also got to see them perform at Johnny Brenda's in Sept last year. So when the opportunity came up for us to interview frontwoman and lead songwriter Julia Steiner we were so pumped! We spend time to hear more about the latest album, how they met producer Chris Walla and how he inspired them to try new things, and the stories behind some of tracks (can't believe they did "Black Earth, WI" in only 2 takes!). She also shares her passion for album sequencing and how she goes about selecting the order for the tracks on the album. We also learn more about her story finding her music path, how she met Dave Sagan in college, and how the rest of the band formed across their catalog of albums. In addition to "Black Earth, WI", we share the official video of "It's Alive!", some video we captured at the Johnny Brenda's show of "Charles Bernstein" (a deep cut off their first album), and close the show out with my fav track off the latest album "Empty".This is such a fun convo with one of the best out there right now - you won't want to miss it!LinksWebsite: ratboysband.comYouTube ChannelSpotify ChannelNepco Guitars: nepcoguitars.comAs always, our hope is to bring you "your next favorite band". Around this podcast, we have a love/hate relationship with the NFL. We enjoy the hell out of the games, but the league sometimes does stuff that ticks us off. Today, we'll vent. Cousin Josh has a list of five things that make him irritated with the NFL and fantasy football in 2023, and we'll count 'em down. Also we'll review the Thursday night Titans/Steelers game, roll through the injury news we'll have to track for our Week 9 lineups and play an awesome music digression. Julia Steiner, the creative force behind this exciting young indie rock band, stops by the show to discuss the band's origins and their latest album.
This week it was reported that Ed Droste of the fine art-rock band Grizzly Bear is now working as a therapist (:25). That this was news at all speaks to the weird navieté that we as indie-rock fans have about the financial realities of the musicians we love. Steven and Ian begin the episode by talking about the "Joe jobs" of indie-rock lifers, and the potential "indie star to therapist" pipe line. From there, the guys talk about Steven's recent column on the best soundtrack albums of all-time, and why the golden age for soundtracks is from the mid-'80s to the early '00s. While it's true that a big film like Barbie can still spin off a successful soundtrack, the golden age of B and C-tier soundtracks — when an otherwise forgotten film like 1993's Judgment Night can be paired with a famous soundtrack — seems to be over (11:08).After that, Steven and Ian review new albums by hardcore collective The Armed and the Chicago guitar-pop band Ratboys (27:39). In Recommendation Corner (56:01), Ian praises the bloghouse throwback DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ and Steven gives the nod to the new solo album from Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek.New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday.
