What happens when the world no longer runs on money? This lyrical, thought-provoking episode explores a radical question: What if money didn't exist? Through a vivid, story-driven narrative, we dismantle the economic systems that shape our lives and imagine what might rise from the rubble — a world where creativity, empathy, and community replace currency. How would we define value without price?Could cooperation replace competition?Would art flourish if it wasn't made to sell?We examine the collapse of traditional economies, the evolution of power without profit, and the liberation of human creativity from market forces. From resource-based economies and time-based currency to gift cultures and sustainability credits — this episode offers blueprints for a new kind of wealth: measured not in digits, but in dignity and meaning. This isn't escapism. It's a design brief for the future.Support the showAttitude. We've all felt the squeeze of technofascism scraping our data, suppressing our voices, and forcing our eyes onto their messaging like we're living in A Clockwork Orange. Well, the Media & Messaging Circle of Moneyless Society is plotting some ways out. As the voice and the first point of contact with our organization M&M seeks to inform and connect with our online community -- and now, encourage them to start taking more of their connection offline. Listen in to learn about our goal of making content that is more "vital" than "viral", and how we're seeking greener pastures in the Fediverse as mainstream social platforms become less and less social. We hope you'll come along with us to learn and grow in the real world, so we have a better shot of surviving the collapse we're starting to witness first-hand.

Rivka and Frank are joined by radical filmmaker and organizer with Moneyless Society, Zachary Marlow, for a silly-voiced conversation about the 1975 comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They discuss how the Pythons used comedy to speak truth to power within British society, the transformation of feudalism into capitalism into what some are now calling “neo-feudalism,” and why Dennis the peasant has better politics than God. As Moneyless Society grows we want to introduce you to more of our members and the ways we're working to build alternative systems in our communities. And with the upcoming U.S. general election, this insight from our dedicated volunteer, Mia Jacobson, couldn't be more timely. As a longshoreman and member of a historic union herself, Mia understands how important it is for the boots on the ground to have a say in organizational decision-making. That's part of her reasoning for why elected representation is an outdated system of governance. In an age where almost everyone has access to technology that can inform them of what's going on, and allow them to engage with decision-making processes, there's no need to ask someone who doesn't know or understand them, to speak for them. Tune in to hear what other approaches are possible, and how other parts of the world are already putting them into practice. And look out for more episodes soon featuring other members of Moneyless Society, building a new world together that's based on care and community, rather than capital.
This month, a group of core Moneyless Society volunteers met up in the scenic mountains of Kentucky to get a firsthand taste of self-sufficient living, discuss the future of the organization, and just generally revel in the company of comrades who have only been able to collaborate digitally for the past few years. During that time, we also recorded a podcast episode meant to introduce the world to a few of the hands helping build the coming transition, and to the larger community and mission making it possible. Listen in, and reach out to see how you can get involved in bringing about the next economic evolution of our world. We still have a long way to go, and a lot to learn, but if we've learned anything from our experiences so far it's that we have what we need to get there when we put our skills, knowledge, and passions together.
Zachary Marlow is a maverick film maker, regen, and co-founder of Moneyless Society. He is vagabonding around the world to tell a story of a more beautiful world beyond the pale of our extractive economic system. Key Takeaways from this Podcast Money and capitalism can be seen as a religious ideology worshiping the god of Moloch and leading to the coordination failure of humanity. The narrative of progress should be critically examined and reevaluated. The transition from a pre-tragic to a post-tragic mindset involves awakening to the tragic realities of the world and embracing the pain and challenges that come with it. Money is a symptom of an underlying paradigm that values self-interest and separation, and a new story is needed to shift towards a more regenerative and interconnected worldview. Love is a powerful force that can save us from the abyss and inspire us to take action to protect and restore the planet. Savoring life and fully embracing the present moment is essential in the face of the world's challenges, and throwing ourselves into the crisis can lead to transformative experiences and actions. WHERE IS THE HUMANITY as we live-stream a genocidal war in Gaza against a captive, innocent people being wiped out by nuclear superpower of Israel, funded by the USA? The hope and humanity is in the people of Gaza themselves and in the response of people who care around the world doing their part to help. Moneyless Society is highlighting the real, heartbreaking, unimaginably horrific stories of regular people living through this nightmare with their families. We brought on Mohamad and Halaa, a doctor and law student to tell us their heart-rending stories of bombing, mass death of family members, and to use our platform to uplift their stories in the hope YOU will help. They're raising the money to buy their freedom, to buy the lives of their family from this monstrous system. They need $7000 a person to get their families out of a war zone, who are mostly sick and elderly or young children. This is a show about finding hope in the wreckage, it is a horrific but inspiring story of human goodness in the face of annihilation, and the amount of hope at the end-- entirely depends on how much YOU the listeners take up this cause and help. Campaigns here, donate and share, not just in social media but directly with people who will help! Halaa: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-hayas... Mohammad: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-to-sa...

More than you might think! Filmed live at a radical gathering of extremist nerds at the Commons Hub in the Austrian Alps, Marlow and Joshua Davila of the Blockchain Socialist podcast and writer of "Blockchain Radicals: How Capitalism Ruined Crypto and How to Fix It" explore the postcapitalist side of crypto, web3, decentralized computing, the future of currency, and life without money.Stumbling onto this community was radical, eye opening and an exciting dive into one of the most achievable frontiers of design science revolution: the web. How do we survive capitalism while navigating the ethical dilemmas of making money within this broken system? There's no one right answer, but this episode breaks down my thoughts about it over the past few months. The problem isn't simply the exchange of goods or services for money, it's how late-stage capitalism seeks short-term profits above all else, extracting all the excess labor of the "lower classes" for profit. Ultimately I want more of us to be able to survive capitalism so we can build something better. We had a very inspiring and brilliant interview with AMANDA SMITH, MATT HOLTEN and ZACHARY MARLOW all co-founders / activists / hosts at MONEYLESS SOCIETY, a group of people and an organization that aims to create alternative community systems and structures, and eventually create a working, self-sustaining city / model in which residents / owners / contributors (or whatever titles are chosen) will not need money to live or operate within the community / city. The first topic we discussed is about one of these well known models; RBE - Resource Based Economy. Also how much overlap, assumptions and miss-perceptions around these models are going around of people trying to label them (It's communism! No, it's socialism! No it's ….). They shared their unique roles in the projects they are working on, The importance of language and making alternative solutions visible to the world, Inspiration to be found in earlier forms of self-governance, The sense-making of automation, and a call to action towards our responsibilities! In the final episode of the first season of Moneyless Society, we dig into the portentous subject of human nature. So often is this term used to justify the worst human behaviors and to dissuade any advancement toward a society that provides for all, as if it's in our nature to hoard resources, compete each other out of existence and destroy our own habitat for a made up social construct like money. Tune in for an expansive in-depth conversation with professor of sociology Jeff Cates M.A, as we discuss these strange beings we call humans, the history of money, the effects of mass media, and his personal journey from a single father working construction to meeting Jacques Fresco and changing his life forever when he encountered the possibilities of a resource based economy to transform our environment and rehabilitate our debased human nature. Moneyless Society, Brave New World or Recipe for Disaster? Interview with Zachary Marlow - Episode 56
In this episode we will answer the biggest questions people ask us: what's wrong with the current system, and where do we go from here. In this episode we break down exactly why capitalism is fundamentally incapable of meeting the demands of our changing world and how we can use all the technological and social advances we have to transform our apocalyptic world into an abundant, high tech society beyond anything before possible. The means to achieve a world in which life on earth isn't stifled by the restrictions of a market economy that holds us back from achieving true efficacy and fulfillment, are already known and readily available. Join us as we focus on creating a new system by expounding on the steps that must be taken to literally save the world. In order to inhibit chaotic feedback loops, break down insidious and destructive economic structures and condition society to recognize the numerous connected fallacies of the monetary system, we must first start with analyzing the mechanisms of system design and function. From our mistakes we can emerge new and sustainable if only we accept our mistakes and begin building the post-scarcity world NOW. Tune in to hear an incendiary conversation with our special guest, Daniel Baryon (@AnarkYouTube) digging into the roots of the power that our illusory arbitrary system holds, in social hierarchy and domination, and clearing the propaganda and fearmongering around the philosophy and history of anarchism. Far from the unruly media depiction as brick throwing chaos, it is a highly academic historical discipline of dismantling the inherent corruption of all power structures to enable human autonomy and return that power to all of us in this movement toward a post scarcity future on the other side of oppression. We all know the world is in crisis, the symptoms of collapse are undeniable: forecasts of climate doom contrast reports of good news for investors. People sleep on the sidewalks as billionaires fly to space. We are so focused on the what, we don't stop to ask: why? The answer is both incredibly complex and simple, because all that we see is an outcome of the structural design of society. In this episode we dive deep on structural awareness and systems thinking with activist, martial artist and trainer Arjang Jameh, a member of both The Zeitgeist Movement and The Venus Project, on how changing our thinking is the key to changing the structure of our society. In this debut of the Moneyless Society Podcast, your three hosts Matt, Marlow and Amanda talk about how the voice of reason finally drowned out all the noise of the machine's gear grinding and rat racing, which led them to this place on the proverbial timeline of an inevitable shift in humanity's existence on this planet. Listen in on the stories, both tragic and triumphant, that are catalyzing change for the better, both personally and globally.
