For pride month, the girlies mount a defense against one of the largest threats to queer people today: transphobia. They trace the long history of trans existence and its erasure, unpack how moral panic is used to justify control, why transphobia exists on both the right and the left, and how the freedom to live outside the binary can liberate us from other systems of oppression. Digressions include: the highs and lows of plant parenthood, our no-phone summer so far, and a new candy shaking up the scene. When they launched Bassike in 2006, Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan weren't just starting a brand—they were solving a problem. Frustrated by the lack of high-quality, sustainable wardrobe staples, they set out with a mission to build what didn't exist. From day one, their vision was clear: organic cotton, Australian craftsmanship, and ethics woven into every decision. What began as a commitment to local makers and responsible materials has grown into a relentless pursuit of better—pushing boundaries in design, production, and transparency. In our conversation, Deb opens up about the early hustle, the commitment to sourcing high-quality materials, and why Australian-made was always non-negotiable. She also shares how she navigated a co-founder's departure while staying true to her mission — and outlines her plans to scale creatively and breathe new life into the brand. Some brands chase trends. Bassike builds legacies. And for Deb, the next chapter is about proving ethical fashion can go bigger - without compromise. You can subscribe to the Mentored newsletter here: https://mentored.com.au/newsletter-sign-upJoin the Facebook Group.Follow Mark Bouris on Instagram, LinkedIn & YouTube. OSF HealthCare is implementing a new regional model to better serve patients across multiple local medical centers. Vice presidents will now be stationed at each facility to ensure a strong leadership presence and foster community relationships. The aim is to offer more medical services at centers like OSF Saint Luke while reserving specialized treatments for facilities such as OSF Saint Mary. This approach is designed to ease congestion at larger hospitals like OSF Saint Francis. Patients are encouraged to seek initial care at local centers, where staff will assess if transport is needed for advanced treatment elsewhere. Kory Tinkham oversees this initiative across multiple sites but is predominantly stationed in Kewanee. Kory Tinkham is the Vice President of Operations and Special Projects at OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee, OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, and OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
The African National Congress in Gauteng believes it's gradually moving towards the right direction in ensuring they improve in the upcoming 2026 local elections. The party's co-coordinator Panyaza Lesufi mentioned their satisfaction with recent by-elections results, where the party have won. Lesufi was speaking during a media briefing in Johannesburg, where the party outlined resolutions that were taken at the two-day Lekgotla that took place two weeks ago. He said they've been using the 2024 election machinery that they never dismantle and also followed on the post elections survey they conducted
This week's message centered on the rich young ruler and Jesus' invitation to “come, follow me,” highlighting how surrender is not about losing, but about making room for something greater—intimacy with Christ. We explored how Jesus isn't after our performance, but our hearts. Like the young man, we're often held back by what we won't release, yet Jesus looks at us with love and calls us to trust Him. Following Him means letting go of our grip on control, possessions, and pride so that we can live in the fullness of His way. The call is personal, costly, and deeply worth it—and it begins with a surrendered yes. Link to Sermon Guide & Activations: 05.04.25 Sermon Guide

Terry Harbort, President and CEO of Talisker Resources (TSX: TSK) (OTCQX:TSKFF), joins me to outline the lateral development on the Alhambra Vein on the 1105 level at the Bralorne Gold Project in British Columbia. We discuss the development work underway on the pathway to near-term gold production at the Mustang Mine over the next few months. We review that main area of focus for the development declines and work up until this point in time has been in the unmined area, between the historically mined Bralorne and King mines, now referred to as the Mustang Mine. To date, a total of 107.1 metres of 3X3 metre development has been completed at the Mustang Mine including 2.2 metres in the mineralized Alhambra Vein. Vein access is currently underway on four levels with 11.4 metres already completed on the 1060 level, 34 metres completed on the 1075 level, 26.4 metres completed on the 1105 level and 9.3 metres completed on the 1120 level. Additional development will begin shortly on the 1090 level to provide a fifth level of access to mineralized material. Talisker expects to be extracting material from its first stope towards the end of May or early June. We shift over to the remaining work there to be completed, a rough idea of the sustaining capital that will be needed to put the Mustang Mine into production imminently and start ramping up the throughput from 100 tonnes per day (tpd) in the next couple months, to 175 tpd after that, and then up to 250 tpd by year-end. Moving into next year it is anticipated that throughput can rise up to 500 tpd and then eventually 750 tpd in the years thereafter. That will involve pulling in material from the unmined areas between the historic Bralorne and Pioneer mines as a second eventual area of focus. In addition to being amenable to toll mining at nearby processing centers with spare capacity, there have been studies underway looking at upgrading the ore on site using ore-sorting technology, so that higher-grade material, with less associated waste would make it more economical to be shipped to additional processing centers. An economic study is slated for later this year that will explore some of these concepts in more detail. Wrapping up we discuss the health of their treasury, the strength of the management and operational teams, and the key milestones and news on tap for the balance of this year. In episode 181, I explained how getting clear on what matters - our values - can be a great place to start when we want to improve our wellbeing. This time round, I look at the benefits of putting these values into action and being more intentional about our actions. Instead of framing our attempts at change as 'pass' or 'fail', we can frame our options as either moving towards what matters to us, or away from some form of psychological discomfort. This can take the pressure of perfection or completion off the table and intead allows us to focus on what's possible in this moment. Do get in touch with your questions and feedback. You can email me at 'podcast at worklifepsych dot com'. It's always wonderful to hear from listeners. As always, thanks for listening! “Today we notice the direction of Jesus in Luke 13… instead of fleeing Jerusalem he goes in that direction for the gift of God's redemption in the cross and empty tomb. In this sermon, we wonder if that sense of direction… moving towards each other is a characteristic of a culture of grace. Today's message is brought to us by Pastor Jason. Terry Harbort, President and CEO of Talisker Resources (TSX: TSK) (OTCQX:TSKFF), joins me for a comprehensive update on the confidence in the mineral resources, ongoing exploration and development work, and the near-term pathway towards moving into gold production at the Mustang Mine, located on their Bralorne Gold Project in British Columbia. Spiralers...what a TREAT!!! We had the lovely Flynn Skidmore join us to have a deeply healing and grounding conversation that soothed generational wounds, the superiority vs. inferiority complex, and the resistance to acceptance. If you are not already familiar with Flynn, he is someone who has been fascinated by the unconscious from an early age which led him to his previous practice as a therapist with extensive training in Internal Family Systems, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and Somatic Experiencing. His primary intention for clients all around the world is to accelerate evolution. By diving deeply into the wounds, friction, and patterning that prevent us from creating momentum, he offers an uncanny ability to bring warmth to the parts of us that we perceive as darkness - freeing up energy to become more creative and loving.Because Sam personally knows and has worked with Flynn, this conversation felt like 3 friends exploring their parallel perspectives on generational wounds, feeling unseen by a parent, meeting your ego, and how to truly grow and get what you desire from your relationships. Gina shares her own vulnerable experience of feeling unseen by her mother and the impact it has had on her, while Flynn offers a liberating perspective on healing that is counter to what many healers offer these days.Through this conversation, we all get to be deeply vulnerable and transparent about the ways in which we derived value and self-importance in our lives and the underlying fears and desires behind those behaviors (shadow work!)But perhaps the most compelling element of this conversation was Flynn's approach to the terrifying fear, "What if I don't reach my potential?" and "Why won't the other person change?" His perspective and emphasis on personal responsibility and independence is a paradigm shift and he offers his very own co-creation framework: shared vision, capacity to execute, rate of execution, and satisfaction with rate of execution. Flynn also explains that relational satisfaction comes down to aligning visions and having satisfactory rates of execution with respect to that very vision in relationships. He also explores the themes of frustration and dissatisfaction in relationship and identifies how you can overcome these. If you're still reading these, trust me...this one's good. It's soul food for the human who is actively doing the inner work and by the end of this episode, you will better understand the behaviors that inform our false sense of superiority or value and the transformative powers of acceptance, curiosity and personal responsibility.Timestamps:00:00 Feeling Unseen in Parent-Child Relationships03:35 Healing Generational Wounds13:54 How the Ego Derives Value and Self-Importance25:21 The Power of Curiosity and Compassion26:04 Healing and Transforming Unconscious Wounds28:17 Recycling Painful Patterns and Repurposing Traits29:32 Moving Towards a Different Fuel Source30:35 Tapping into Trust and Overcoming Fear31:36 The Process of Letting Go and Opening Up33:15 Understanding Fear as a Motivator for Achievement34:30 The Transition from Fear to Warmth and Compassion37:14 The Process of Transformation and Letting Go39:35 The Co-Creation Framework for Fulfilling Relationships41:05 Taking Personal Agency in Unaligned Situations45:46 Aligning Visions and Pace of Execution in Relationships49:22 Navigating Different Rates of Evolution52:28 The Power of Acceptance56:10 Energetic Abundance and Supporting Others' Evolution--Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!)https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityHeal your money wound & manifest abundance in Sam's newest course 'Abundantly Ever After:'https://simplifyingsam.kartra.com/page/AbundantlyEverAfter--Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.com--Follow Flynn on IG:https://www.instagram.com/flynnskidmore/?hl=enAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Welcome back! We are excited to kick off our third season of In the Arena with NOW, where we explore two timely questions with community leaders across the country: What does it look like to harness, activate, and build community power? How can healing-centered advocacy transform systems and change policy? For the first episode of the season, long-time Vital Village Networks leader and founding circle member, Josette Williams, reminds us that for many, systems change advocacy is deeply rooted in our own personal journeys and early experiences that shape our understanding of who has access and opportunities to important community resources and spaces. As Director of Boston Public Schools' innovative Countdown to Kindergarten program, Josette asks us to rethink the oft- asked question, “Who has a seat at the table?” and consider, “How did we get to this table” and the historical and systemic processes that shape who has access and opportunity to decision making power within communities. Tune in to hear Josette explore what shared power looks like in practice between agencies and families in Boston and examples of strategies she has been leading to center parent and family leadership within community systems. Who's running America right now? It sure as hell isn't President Biden. So who is it? The war pigs and deep state in D.C. are actively moving the U.S. towards war with Iran. Russia will not sit idly by while Iran is destroyed.
The wonderful civil rights elder Vincent Harding liked to look around the world for what he called "live human signposts" — human beings who embody ways of seeing and becoming and who point the way forward to the world we want to inhabit. And adrienne maree brown, who has inspired worlds of social creativity with her notions of "pleasure activism" and "emergent strategy," is surely one of these. We're listening with new ears as she brings together so many of the threads that have recurred in this season of On Being: on looking the harsh complexity of this world full in the face while dancing with joy as life force and fuel, and on keeping clear eyes on the reasons for ecological despair while giving oneself over to a loving apprenticeship with the natural world as teacher and guide. A love of visionary science fiction also finds a robust place in her work and this conversation. She altogether shines a light on an emerging ecosystem in our world over and against the drumbeat of what is fractured and breaking — the cultivation of old and new ways of seeing, towards a transformative wholeness of living.adrienne maree brown's influential books include Emergent Strategy, We Will Not Cancel Us, and Pleasure Activism. More recently, she has published Maroons, a work of speculative fiction, and she co-edited the anthology Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction from Social Justice Movements. She also co-hosts the podcast How to Survive the End of the World. And, a special heads up: in late summer 2024, adrienne maree brown will publish a phenomenal new book — Loving Corrections.Find the transcript for this show at onbeing.org.______Sign up for The Pause — a Saturday morning companion newsletter to the On Being podcast season, and our mailing list for news and invitations all year round. SERIES 2 EPISODE 183: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: It is becoming increasingly obvious that Trump and the authoritarians seeking to overthrow democracy in the United States and install him as dictator for life and then enact the equivalent of ethnic cleansing… have made the choice to let everybody KNOW… that they are seeking to overthrow the democracy in the United States and install him as dictator and then enact the equivalent of ethnic cleansing. You may recall him summoning most of the fossil fuel industry of this country to Mar-a-Lago in April and essentially demanding they put one billion dollars into his campaign so he can eliminate virtually all the restrictions on their businesses as they try to destroy the planet faster. Now The Washington Post reports that early THIS month he summoned most of the big money donors to the Republicans and other fascists to the Pierre Hotel here in New York and was essentially demanding they increase THEIR donations by a factor of 25 or 50 so he can eliminate virtually all TAXES on their businesses and incomes… A businessman, he told them, had offered a donation of a million dollars to his campaign, in exchange for lunch. The Post's sources quote Trump as replying “I'm not having lunch. You've got to make it 25 million.” Then there was the donor who normally gave two to three million. “He told the donor that he wanted a 25 million dollar or 50 million dollar contribution or he would not be, quote ‘very happy'. It's blackmail. Give me the money I want – 25 times as much as you planned – or else. It's kinda Robert DeNiro, in "The Untouchables," playing Al Capone, carrying around a baseball bat. Which is funny because who showed up at the trial yesterday but DeNiro and suddenly the Trumpists are enraged that anybody would dare bring people TO the courthouse! If this unvarnished, unrestrained, undeniable corruption were not obvious enough that Trump just doesn't GIVE a shit any more – you're not going to shame him, you're not going to restrain him, you're not going to prosecute him – he's decided it's us or him… there's the SECOND part. Trump posted a video – another one of these fig leaf deniable videos: HE didn't MAKE the video, he just POSSSSSSTED this video. And so the threats in the video, nominally directed at Joe Scarborough, that Trump will "get rid of all you offing liberals; you liberals are gone" aren't Trump's threats. Except, of course they are. Because Trump has called his opponents vermin and vowed to get rid of them. And expel all the immigrants. And put them in concentration camps. And use the army. And use the cops. And if you can do that, you can point at Joe Scarborough and say "YOU are now defined as an immigrant. Get in the camp." And that... is ethnic cleansing. B-Block (30:49) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The Renfield-ification of Lindsey Graham is complete. Speaker Mike Johnson is stalling on the installation of a Capitol plaque honoring the police from January 6th. And Pastor Shane Vaughn has news for you: Jesus was a millionaire. C-Block (41:30) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Since yesterday was the saga of the 45th anniversary of my college graduation, today must be the saga of the class I nearly failed because the professor was mad because the quarterback of his favorite football team fumbled away a victory in the final minute.
