In the midst of suffering or experiencing the effects of sin, it's easy to trust our feelings, fears, or what we see in front of us. But walking through the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8–31 and 8:1–6, Pastor Brian Davis shows us that real hope comes from trusting God's Word, His Spirit, and His people.
Small Steps To Big Faith #RTTBROS #NightlightSmall Steps, Big Faith"Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." - Ecclesiastes 7:8 (KJV)In our walk with God, we often fall into the trap of perfectionism. We hear tales of great Christian leaders who spent hours in fervent prayer at dawn, and we think, "I could never measure up to that." This mindset can paralyze us, preventing us from taking even the smallest steps in our spiritual journey. As the saying goes, "The perfect is often the enemy of the good."Consider the act of prayer. We may envision the ideal prayer life as rising at 4 AM and communing with God for hours on end. While this practice can be admirable, it's not the only way to cultivate a meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father. By setting such a lofty standard, we may discourage ourselves from praying at all.Instead, let's focus on progress, not perfection. The good – a simple, heartfelt conversation with God each day – is far better than the perfect that never materializes. Start small: offer a sentence or two of gratitude, petition, or praise. As you build this habit, you may find yourself naturally expanding your prayers, perhaps even engaging in short bursts of communication with God throughout your day.Remember, God doesn't expect perfection from us. He desires a genuine relationship, one that grows and deepens over time. In Ecclesiastes, we're reminded that the patient in spirit is better than the proud. This patience applies not only to our circumstances but also to our spiritual growth.Take encouragement from the words of Jesus in Matthew 17:20 (KJV): "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Even the smallest act of faith can lead to tremendous growth and change.Today, challenge yourself to take one small step in your spiritual disciplines. Whether it's prayer, Bible reading, or acts of service, remember that consistency in small things often leads to significant transformation. Don't let the illusion of perfection hinder your progress. Embrace the good, and watch as God works in and through your faithful efforts.Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to overcome the paralysis of perfectionism. Grant us the wisdom to start small and the patience to grow steadily in our relationship with You. May we find joy in the journey of faith, trusting that You are pleased with our sincere efforts, no matter how humble they may seem. Send us a textHave you ever felt overwhelmed by the idea of “getting it right” when it comes to your spiritual life? Like you have to be perfect in your prayer life or Bible study to grow closer to God? In today's conversation, we're reminded that it's not about perfection—it's about consistency. Whether you're navigating busy mornings, a shifting season of life, or simply struggling to find time with the Lord, this episode offers practical encouragement to stay the course. In this engaging conversation, Kelly Minter and Angie Elkins dive into a rich exploration of the Book of Esther. Kelly unpacks its historical context within a pagan empire, noting the striking absence of God's name in the text—and yet, His presence is undeniable throughout Esther's story. She highlights Esther's journey from uncertainty to courage, drawing parallels to the challenges and opportunities facing women today. Kelly encourages us to recognize God's sovereignty in every situation, even in places where His name isn't spoken aloud, and reminds us that small steps of obedience can have a lasting impact on our faith journey.Consistency, courage, and small acts of faithfulness can lead to extraordinary growth. If this episode speaks to you, we'd love for you to share it and invite other women into the conversation. SHOW LINKS:-Connect with Angie Elkins -Connect with Kelly Minter-Esther Bible Study

One of my favorite quotes is, “I have a mustard seed, and I'm not afraid to use it,”…by John Ratzinger Until recently, I didn't think much about the actual mustard seed, except for the fact that it's an itty, bitty little seed. Sometimes my faith has definitely been that small, and truthfully, even smaller than that. What I've discovered over the years is that the more I use my faith, the more it grows. Mustard seeds are amazing little things, and it's no accident that they're referenced in the Bible more than once. In today's episode of The Woman Inspired Podcast, “Small seeds, big faith”, we're talking about the mustard seed parable, and what happens when your faith grows. Faith is essential for following Jesus; it involves fully trusting Him, acting on our beliefs, and embracing opportunities for growth and transformation. This year, we're invited to grow in our faith—not just the kind that saves us, but the kind that transforms us, strengthens us, and helps us believe God for miracles.

Author and mom of three boys Christie Thomas knows that when it comes to building faith in the lives of our children, there are three golden rules: keep it short and simple, keep it real, and make it playful. She shares how instilling small habits with a dose of fun can be the spark that lights a growing faith for the whole family. Quotes “There are so many spots in the Bible where we just offer something really little. God is the one that takes it and makes it into something big and beautiful. When we focus on these little tiny things that we can do in our lives—following God's leading in that—then we're giving Him the glory and letting Him do what He wants in our family.” - Christie Thomas “If you're praying about something in your life, you can point your kids to that and say, ‘Look at God actually answering these prayers.'” - Christie Thomas “When you bring joy into your devotional time or your prayer, they're going to be so much more likely to want to do it.” - Christie Thomas “Christ has come to set us free. He's a gentle shepherd, not a harsh master. He will lead us and guide us and give us inspiration. We can choose to trust in God's love. We can let Him chase away the fear that we're going to do it wrong, or the fear that we'll push our kids away from God if we talk about Him too much, and we can let Him bring the joy of growing in faith alongside our kids.” - Christie Thomas Guest's Links Christie Thomas' website Christie Thomas' Instagram Christie Thomas' Facebook Resources Mentioned in This Episode Thoughts To Make Your Heart Sing Seasonal Products Free Jesus Storybook Bible Advent Reading Plan & Bonus Printables The Jesus Storybook Bible: A Christmas Collection The Jesus Storybook Bible Advent Activity Book Song of the Stars: A Christmas Story Little One, We Knew You'd Come My Little Library of God's Great Love Connect with Sally Lloyd-Jones Jesus Storybook Bible Facebook Jesus Storybook Bible Instagram Sally's website Sally's Facebook Sally's Instagram *Episode produced by Four Eyes Media*

This is the fourth in a series of episodes dedicated to a young woman and returning cohost, Dagmar from The Netherlands. This episode is with special guest and leading philosopher, William Lane Craig. Dagmar wasn't available for this recording, but Signe from Denmark joined in for this conversation about why there are so many different versions of Christianity, what matters most, and why Bill Craig is a Christ-follower. Dagmar has co-hosted many Finding Something REAL episodes in the past four years. Although Dagmar is interested in, learned a lot about, and is drawn to Jesus, and chose to get baptized when she was a child, she has not yet decided to take a leap of faith as an adult. She has a comfortable life and enjoys partying with friends and admits that were she to give her life to Christ her life would change and people would view her differently. She's grown up in a secular culture and for this series, reached out to some friends for new faith questions including some about the credibility of Jesus, why there are so many variations of religion and Christianity, and the history of Christianity. ABOUT WILLIAM LANE CRAIG: William Lane Craig is a Visiting Scholar of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology and Professor of Philosophy at Houston Christian University. He and his wife Jan have two grown children. At the age of sixteen as a junior in high school, he first heard the message of the Christian gospel and yielded his life to Christ. Dr. Craig pursued his undergraduate studies at Wheaton College (B.A. 1971) and graduate studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.A. 1974; M.A. 1975), the University of Birmingham (England) (Ph.D. 1977), and the University of Munich (Germany) (D.Theol. 1984). From 1980-86 he taught Philosophy of Religion at Trinity, during which time he and Jan started their family. In 1987 they moved to Brussels, Belgium, where Dr. Craig pursued research at the University of Louvain until assuming his position at Talbot in 1994. He has authored or edited over thirty books, including The Kalam Cosmological Argument; Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus; Divine Foreknowledge and Human Freedom; Theism, Atheism and Big Bang Cosmology; and God, Time and Eternity, as well as over a hundred articles in professional journals of philosophy and theology, including The Journal of Philosophy, New Testament Studies, Journal for the Study of the New Testament, American Philosophical Quarterly, Philosophical Studies, Philosophy, and British Journal for Philosophy of Science. In 2016 Dr. Craig was named by The Best Schools as one of the fifty most influential living philosophers.
