This week, we step into a defining moment—not just for our community, but for each of us personally. As we prepare to transition locations from Hollywood, we're reminded that the most significant moves in life are never about geography — they're about courage. In this message, Pastor Erwin McManus unpacks the opening chapter of Joshua, where God's words to a fearful young leader echo through time: Be strong and courageous. This isn't a pep talk. It's a command. A call to action. A summons for anyone ready to leave behind comfort and step into the unknown.Through powerful storytelling, real-life moments of failure and faith, and deep spiritual reflection, this talk is a challenge to stop waiting to be chosen and start choosing bravery. The sign over the next season reads Only the Brave. The only question left is: will you walk through the door?

Mosaic - Erwin McManus

In today's message, we explore one of the most transformative truths of the spiritual journey: alignment. What does it mean to live a life aligned with God's heart, purpose, and calling? From the intersections of Hollywood and South Pasadena to communities in Calabasas, Mexico City, Ecuador, New York, and London, this conversation is both deeply personal and globally relevant.Pastor Erwin McManus invites us into a raw and honest reflection on the power of intimacy with God, the necessity of radical generosity, and a higher view of humanity. Through stories of Mosaic's improbable impact, vulnerable moments of confession, and practical insight into what alignment really looks like—this message becomes a blueprint for anyone who wants to stop merely believing and start fully living. This isn't a talk about giving. It's a conversation about love. About how we act when we're really in love—with God, with people, with the future He's placed inside of us. If you've ever felt stuck, misaligned, or like your life doesn't yet reflect your deepest convictions, this is for you.

During a time of tragic loss with the fires raging in Los Angeles, Pastor Erwin McManus brought a dynamic message helping us see God's presence in the middle of it all.   In the Scriptures, he points out that we often have a multitude of questions for God during crisis. We ask him why he doesn't stop tragedy from happening and where he is when we're suffering.   But instead of answering us, God comes with his own questions that challenge us to take responsibility in moments of hardship.    God asks us who he will send into the fire to be a place of refuge for others.  He asks us who will have the courage to move toward the crisis.  He asks us to go and be the hands and feet of Jesus.    As Mosaic, we are responding with urgency to the call. We are called to be a place of refuge for Los Angeles.   Tune into this powerful message and join us as we answer the call.

This past Sunday, Pastor Erwin McManus delivered a powerful message on the barriers of authentic human connection.  Drawing from John 1 and his new book "The Seven Frequencies of Communication," he explored how we can use communication to mask our true selves. He guided us through the concept of shadow frequencies and how they shape our interactions and self-perception. When we communicate with our shadow frequency, we create miscommunication and missed connections that prevent us from truly seeing one another. Pastor Erwin emphasized that transformation begins when we confront these shadows and allow the light of our authentic selves to shine through. It takes courage to face our shadows but this courage is essential to create the human connection we long for.  Are you ready to step out of your shadow frequency and into the light? To those who need a teacher, Jesus speaks as a professor. To the stagnant, Jesus speaks as a challenger. To the doubtful, Jesus speaks as a motivator. To those who need vision, Jesus speaks as a seer. To the directionless, Jesus speaks as a commander. To those who need a new view of reality, Jesus speaks as a maven.   Jesus is always speaking to us in the frequency we need to hear in the moment instead of simply what we want to hear.   Are you ready to tune into the frequency of Jesus?   Listen to this powerful message today and order Pastor Erwin's brand-new book The Seven Frequencies of Communication.

Pastor Erwin McManus brought a riveting new message on the importance of living a life deeply connected to God.  Pulling from a fascinating story about Elijah and Ahab in the Scriptures, Pastor Erwin points out that there are 4 different levels of awareness that we can decide to live in.  Unconscious: unaware of God's movement around us. Experiential: only believe in what can be seen, heard, and touched.  Spiritual: aware that a spiritual realm exists. Transcendent: in step with the future God is creating through prayer. While Ahab was only aware of God's movement when he could see, hear, or touch it, Elijah could sense God's movement before it was ever actualized in front of him.  Pastor Erwin encourages us Elijah's spiritual life is the rule and not the exception to our spiritual lives. Each of us has access to God on this level through prayer.  If you are ready to live deeply connected to what God is doing, tune into this powerful new message!

For some of us, having faith in God comes more naturally. For others, it isn't that simple. In this message from August of 2018, Pastor Erwin McManus walks us through his journey of finding faith. He explains that to him, the journey to Jesus was just that: a journey! Growing up he experienced a wide array of religions and was exposed to many world views. He did not imagine being a pastor when he grew up. As we navigate our way through life, we are informed about different religions and ways to God. But how do we know which path really is the way? Pastor Erwin references John 14:6 when Jesus says “No one comes to the Father except through me.” He explains that Jesus came to us and did not force us to believe. Rather, our own souls call us to believe in something more, and that Jesus is the only God that is searching for us, rather than us searching for God. When we have only a mathematical view of the world, we simply become a part of the falling domino effect. Our lives are a passive happening that we do not have freedom of choice inside of. But we know there must be more intention and meaning to our lives than this. We know deep down there is purpose and that our choices make a powerful impact on the future. Jesus' life is the perfect example of a God who meets us right where we are and opens us up to the wonder of life all around us. “Jesus came to show us what God would do to get to us.” -Erwin McManus

As Elisha was plowing his field and living in the comfort of his success, he left everything behind to serve king Elijah. Pastor Erwin reminds us that often our past becomes our anchor when God wants it to become an altar. And though many of us feel as though our past failures are most difficult to move past, we're reminded that it is more difficult to leave success behind when God is calling us forward toward a life of risk . We cannot step into the future God has for us unless we are willing to light a match to it and let God build a new future from the ashes.  As we move with God, we are challenged to give up our plan B and move toward a life that is beyond our imagination.  Are you ready to let go of the past and move into the power of the future God has for you?  This message is inspired by The Last Arrow, Erwin Raphael McManus' book that calls us to save nothing for the next life.

Pastor Erwin uses a story of the relationship between a good shepherd and his sheep from the Gospel of John to illustrate how we can silence or amplify the voice of God in our lives. God did not design us to hear him as an external, disembodied voice. God designed us for intimate relationship with him so we would hear him from the internal depths of who we are. Jesus longs for us to trust him and follow his voice just as sheep follow their shepherd, but for us to do this we must be tuned into the frequency of his voice. There is often a battle between different voices in our head. Dark and negative thoughts carry heavier weight than the positive thoughts that would bring us life. Pastor Erwin emphasizes that it is our responsibility to actively choose the voice that leads us toward hope, faith, and beauty. He turned to the Pharisees and said, "Let the one who has never sinned cast the first stone." Then, Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground, effectively drawing a line in the sand. One by one, the Pharisees dropped their stones and walked away. With this one action, Jesus silenced the voice of condemnation in the woman's life. This story is a poignant illustration of how Jesus is willing to subvert the cultural norm to reach the outsider. The woman went to the well at noon by herself, during the hottest time of day, because she was culturally ostracized. That recurring walk to the well was a reminder to her that she was unseen, unloved, and rejected. As we wrap up this series on the Artisan Soul, Pastor Erwin McManus delivers a passionate message on Masterpiece God gave us called life. Throughout Jesus' life, he told parables, metaphors and images to show his disciples that he was going to die. But they could only interpret death in the terms they knew, which were finite. Jesus reminds us that our life is supposed to be a work of art and his canvas is the human spirit. Jesus life was a walking art installation of Life. In this week's episode, Pastor Erwin McManus delivers a passionate message on our God-given ability to become God's work of art. When we allow him to paint our souls with the colors of faith, hope, love, and courage -- the possibilities are endless. As creatives, we often become discouraged by the limitations of our contracts, resources, and abilities. But if God himself is hopeful about the possibilities of human life -- His chosen canvas -- how much more must we take advantage of the canvas we've each been entrusted with. Whether we are nurses, teachers, or writers, we have the opportunity to bring an abundance of life through our personal brushstrokes on life's canvas. Pastor Erwin McManus delivers a challenging message on the importance of developing our craft. In Ephesians 4, God commands us to be creators and not to settle for consuming or stealing from others. Because we are created by God, we're meant to create and add value to the world around us through the discipline of work. As Christians, many of us have picked up the belief that if we have been called by God to do something, it should come naturally to us. On the contrary, Erwin reminds us that it is up to us to turn our talent into greatness through hard work. If you've been waiting for a moment of magic to transform your talent into greatness, be encouraged that you don't have to wait for magic -- you can start to build the momentum you long for today. In this week's episode, Pastor Erwin McManus points out the fascinating way that God inhabits our lives — whether we've already given our lives to Him or not. In a conversation with a self-identified atheist, Erwin was asked how to hear the voice of God. He answered that it's the voice in your head that simply won't leave you alone. And even more, when we've given our lives to God, that voice becomes the continual invitation to an expansive life that is full of imagination. We're compelled to ask ourselves if we are engaging the creative power that God has given us to make the invisible visible. Are we engaging the ideas God keeps reminding us to pursue, or are we living small lives that are filled with fear? If you've been waiting for a green light when it comes to engaging your God-given dreams and imagination, this is it. In a thought-provoking message from Pastor Erwin McManus, we discover that each of us are interpreters of life. Based on our unique experiences and beliefs, we translate the world around us. But are we interpreting life according to God's perception--or just our limited perspective? In John chapter 9, we observe that Jesus' disciples were bewildered by the healing of a blind man. They were stuck on the reasoning for his blindness. Had he sinned, or was he dealing with the consequence of his parents' sins? Then, the blind man's community continued to question his healing and if it was truly him that was healed. Pastor Erwin points out that all of the facts were clear: the man was blind before and now he could see. And though the blind man's experience spoke for itself, his healing disrupted everything the onlookers believed about God's ability to heal--and even more, his ability to heal on the Sabbath. If your interpretation of life has always led you to doubt God's nature, this message will encourage you to open your eyes to the miraculous that is working in and around you. In Genesis 3, we lean into the story of Adam and Eve where they decide to disobey God and hide their nakedness from him. Erwin points out that God asks Adam "Who told you that you were naked?" God wanted to get to the bottom of the matter; who informed his decision to run away and hide? In this beautiful Good Friday message, Pastor Erwin McManus brings a fresh perspective to the power of the cross and the impact it can have on our personal lives. In John chapter 19, the story of Jesus' crucifixion and death is told from the perspective of John-one of Jesus' followers. Similar to Jesus hanging on the cross, Pastor Erwin points out that he is standing in a desert-a place of isolation, danger, and desperation. He says that often when we find ourselves in times of desperation and isolation, peace is the last emotion we decide to access. But John shows us that after Jesus declared "It is finished," he rested his head against the cross. For many of us, the past few years have stolen our peace. We have felt as though we are stuck in a hypothetical desert. But if Jesus could find rest in the midst of the darkest circumstances, surely he can give us the same peace wherever we find ourselves. And though it is tempting to perceive ourselves as victims, Jesus exemplifies what it means to live as a victor-even as he gave up his own life for us.Though Jesus only lived for 33 years, Pastor Erwin highlights that he lived out the fullness of his purpose in those short years. Just as he lived with intention even on the cross, Jesus invites us to live with the same intention. As Pastor Erwin looks over the sunset, he reflects on how a sunset can often look identical to a sunrise. In the same way, we may feel as though we are at the end of our story because of the dire circumstances around us. But just as the cross looked like the end, Jesus showed us that it was the start to a bright future. If you are desperate for peace in the midst of your circumstances, this message will give you the courage you need to reach out for Jesus, follow his lead by giving your life up to him, and choosing victory instead of victimhood.

This week in a follow up of "The Stories We Tell Ourselves," Pastor Erwin McManus navigates the flip side of the negative stories we tell ourselves. Whether you resonate most with the story of the victim, martyr, innocent, or the hero - there is another story you are meant to tell! In 2 Corinthians 1, we learn that God intends to use the moments we have been treated as victims to bring healing to others who have walked through similar situations. We have the ability to turn our pain into purpose as we stop seeing ourselves as the victim and instead embrace the story of the healer. The story of Abraham unfolds in Genesis chapter 2, as God calls him to leave the comfort of his home. Abraham could have embraced the story of the martyr, believing that he was the only one called to sacrifice for a new future. But Pastor Erwin challenges us to follow Abraham's example by embracing the story of a pioneer. Caleb embraced the story of the activist instead of the innocent in Joshua chapter 14. When Joshua offered him an out because of his old age, Caleb chose to embrace the promise of God and lived a life of courage up until the very end of his life. Jesus, the most powerful human in history, took the posture of a servant instead of the hero in John 13. He washed Peter's feet and led with humility when he could have ruled with dominance. If you've recognized the negative story you tend to get stuck in, this message will give you the wisdom you need to turn the script around and instead, live the story of the healer, pioneer, activist, or the servant.

In week three of his Genius of Jesus series, Pastor Erwin McManus brings us an important message that redefines how we value what is good. Despite a cultural focus that focuses on doing what is ‘right' over everything else, Pastor Erwin reminds us that Jesus was not concerned with doing what was most right, but what was most good. Drawing from 1 Kings, Pastor Erwin brings us into a story of two women who were fighting over a child that they both claimed was their own. This story reveals the genius of the good, as Solomon wades through the confusion of one woman's treachery and reaches the heart of the matter. He suggests cutting the baby in half for each mother to have a part; the true mother is revealed as she begs that the child be given to the other woman, ensuring it can stay alive. Pastor Erwin shares that a church culture which is focused on sin, or never doing what is wrong, has missed a crucial point of the scriptures. He shares a lesson learned from personal experience that when he focused less on his bad habits and more on doing good, he ran out of time for the wrong things. He explains that doing good is always based on one's essence and not their performance. If you've been struggling to figure out what the next right thing is for your life, this message will compel you toward the good!

Merry Christmas, Mosaic! Pastor Erwin McManus sits down on Christmas Eve and explores the often forgotten role of Joseph during the birth of Jesus. Pastor Erwin highlights how Joseph’s place in the Christmas story can mirror our own—how in the middle of God’s work in the world we can find ourselves inconvenienced, diminished, and forgotten, … Continue reading Home For The Holidays – Christmas Eve | Pastor Erwin McManus →

How do we navigate this moment in history through rumors, chaos, and uncertainty? Pastor Erwin McManus invites us to look back as we look forward. Acts chapter 4 lays the foundation of the Church. They had little history with Jesus, and therefore they had to trust. This is a beautiful parallel to life right now. … Continue reading Foundation Weekend →

Guest preacher Pastor Erwin McManus of Mosaic Church in Los Angeles delivers a sermon that encourages the Church to do three things. One, stay unique: do not sacrifice your God-given uniqueness to be accepted by others; life a life of intention, not obligation. Two, stay optimistic: never give up! Focus on what is good, and call each other to hope and joy. God is waiting for you, His creative agent, to create a better future. Three, stay present. Never take for granted but be grateful for the gifts you have in your life now. God loves meeting you where you are. Enjoy this uplifting message!

Sometimes we get it in our minds that if we could only get that one major victory, we’d be at peace. Our faith would be on cruise control because we’d need only to look to our spectacular success for comfort. Nothing we’d face could shake us. But even the prophet Elijah ran away and isolated himself after a heroic display. With his latest book of the same title, Pastor Erwin McManus shared the message, “The Way of the Warrior.” He pointed out that our internal battle with anxiety, fear, doubt or any mental illness can be detrimental to our external reality and our fight for peace. Our challenge is to resist the urge to follow the path our negative thought patterns would lead us down. If Elijah's story tells us anything, it's that we're not exempt from experiencing insecurity, even after our wins. Yes, it's possible to struggle with inner peace, but it doesn't have to be a sign of weakness. In our darkest moments, the God of Peace whispers that he will fight the battle for us, we only need to trust him. Once we do, we're free to boldly share the state of our minds in community and get the restoration needed. With that comes hope for a new and much better day ahead.

The warrior fights only through peace, but the warrior is not ready for battle until they’ve come to know peace. This past Sunday, guest Pastor Erwin McManus shared a powerful message on The Way of the Warrior. Jesus comes to speak peace into your soul, to fight the battle only He can win, to give you the peace you’ve always longed for.

Ever see someone so gifted but never end up amounting to much? That's because any skill in life must be honed over time lest you lose it. See, I (Phil Svitek) used to think for the longest time that talent was just a skill-set. And yes, talent is a gift of some kind (no matter whether you believe in God, the universe or genetics). But like all gifts, our talents must be honored and not wasted. That's the difference between those who are successful and those who are not. Successful people exercise their talent and apply it daily. Talent therefore is a journey. That's how we must think of it moving forward. In this lesson, I expand upon this notion and highlight the importance of making sure you never lose your talents and the ways in which you can practice your craft everyday. I'll cite stoicism, as depicted by Ryan Holiday in his book The Obstacle is the Way and Pastor Erwin McManus from Mosaic.
