Your journey into the heart of Sir Winston Churchill's iconic Iron Curtain Speech begins here. Prepare to immerse yourself as I reflect on a childhood wonderment with Churchill that led me on a memorable journey to Fulton, Missouri, to experience the echoes of his speech and the museum dedicated to its lasting impact. This episode is an exploration of the "The Iron Curtain Speech", delivered in March 1946, and the fact it was more than just a call for peace, it was a stark warning about the encroaching influence of Soviet rule and its devastating impact on individual liberty within those countries in the Soviet sphere. Our guide for this journey is the author Phillip White and his excellent time treasure of a book, Our Supreme Task: How Winston Churchill's Iron Curtain Speech Defined the Cold War AllianceKey Points from the Episode:We scrutinize the terrifying realities of Soviet rule, including the purges and famines that claimed millions of lives, and how these truths fueled Churchill's fight for freedom. We also delve into the current US political landscape and how Churchill's wisdom might shed light on the challenges we face today. Be ready to uncover nuggets of wisdom from one of the greatest statesmen whose timeless words continue to echo in the chambers of global politics. Is an Iron Curtain falling on the United States in 2023?Other resources: YouTube excerpts from the speechAmerica's National Churchill Museum More goodnessGet your FREE Academy Review here!Get our top book recommendations list Get new podcast episodes dropped into your email box easilyWant to leave a review? In this episode I talk with my longtime friend and future roommate Phillip White! Phil and I grew up in the Bay Area, California in the same classrooms, soccer teams, and friend groups. After going to different high schools, we ended up at the same university 1500 miles from home. Though we grew up with similar demeanors, we had fairly different experiences at college and Phil ended up leaving school two years later. In this episode we talk about hard work he put in to both start off his career before returning to college and to alleviate some of his own personal issues. That hard work is what led to the reflective, dedicated, and strong perspective he has now. Likewise we talk about the joys of focus, the impacts of social media, becoming independent, and both the importance and drawbacks of expressing the most authentic form of yourself. -----Podcast IG: https://www.instagram.com/seekingauthenticitypodcast/Podcast Website: https://seekingauthenticity.buzzsprout.com/©Flint Mitchell

In Episode 19, I interviewed Phillip White, the founder of a stylish, size-inclusive activewear brand called Phit Clothing. I met Phillip several years ago at a boutique fitness studio in Dallas, and he quickly became a brand ambassador of my company, StudioHop. I got to hear his idea of Phit Clothing back in the day, and I'm so proud and impressed with what he's done with the brand now. Phillip opens up about how he had the idea of his clothing company, how he got started and he even tells a story about how a certain huge celeb got to see his bomber jacket. We also talked about his background and how he came to embrace his true self, no filters needed. Finally, we touch on the #BLM movement and how it has affected him and caused him to reflect on his entire life and the experiences he's had. Phillip was an open book in this episode and was really brave to share his story. He mentioned before that this was his first podcast interview and that he was ready to share. I feel so honored that he felt comfortable sharing his story with us. I learned a lot from him and I know you will too. In this episode, we talk about: how Phit Clothing got started (in an actual dream he had) what it means to be an inclusive activewear brand what needs he saw in the market the basics on how to actually create a clothing company a story about how he got his bomber jacket in front of a huge celebrity where he discovered his confidence & when he came out and the feelings along with it his take on the BLM movement and how it has caused him to reflect on some stories of his past lessons learned as a business owner &more All about Phillip: Phillip White was born in Lubbock, Texas, grew up in Longview, Texas and now lives in Dallas, Texas. He went to Kilgore College for an associates degree and then transferred to UT Tyler for his bachelors degree. He started out as a Regulatory Analyst at an energy company. Phillip is now a designer and entrepreneur, and he launched Phit Clothing in May 2018. Phit is a stylish, size-inclusive activewear brand for the active lifestyle and everything in between. Phit's mission is to make men feel confident and look good no matter where they are on their fitness journey. “No matter your size, shape, color or activity, you phit right in!” Where to find Phillip: Phillip's IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamphillipwhite/ Phit's IG: https://www.instagram.com/phitclothingofficial/ Phit Clothing website: https://phitclothing.com/ Other resources we mention: His signature houndstooth bomber jacket: https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Eny9onO3Y/ If you enjoyed this episode, please head to Apple podcasts, subscribe (so you'll see each new episode!) and leave a review and a rating: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fitness-insider/id1485908967#see-all/reviews. An Alabama native, White moved to Nashville in 1992 and notched his first breakthrough hit in 2000, when White co-wrote “I'm Movin' On” with D. Vincent Williams, which appeared on Rascal Flatt's debut album. The song became a No. 1 hit and was named Song of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music Song of the Year and the Nashville Songwriters Association International. In 2003, White co-wrote the Reba McEntire hit “I'm A Survivor” which also became the theme song for Reba's self-titled hit TV show. White's impressive list of co-writes include such hits as Neil McCoy's “Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On”; Blake Shelton's “Nobody But Me”; Scotty McCreery's “The Trouble With Girls”; Darius Rucker's “Lost In You” (co-written with Rucker and Mark Nesler); and, as featured on the Act of Valor soundtrack, “The Best I Can” co-written and performed by Jake Owen and “Whatever Brings You Back” co-written by Ronnie Bowman and performed by Wynonna Judd.https://www.facebook.com/phillip.white.923https://www.instagram.com/phillipwhitemusic/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/back-story-song/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
