Christopher Davis reacts to Warren Buffett stepping down from Berkshire Hathaway (BRK/B). He thinks that Warren's “love” for the Berkshire shareholder shines through in the announcement – a “personal” decision rather than an economic one. He says his successor, Greg Abel, could be the “Tim Cook” of Berkshire.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Christopher Davis-Shannon is not your typical musician! Based in Philadelphia, he plays soprano ukulele and the double bass, somehow managing to alternate between one of the smallest and one of the biggest instruments you can possibly play. With a unique fashion sense, and a love of music old and new, the Banjolele Tinman is quite a character. In this hour-long walk through Hyde Park in London, we talk about everything from the meaning of the 'Tinman' nickname, the third wave of ukulele, his impeccable fashion sense, and the great Roy Smeck.I think Chris might be the first musician I've ever come across whose merch includes his own line of ukulele strings.Chris has also just released an album of jazz standards "FIFTY/50" with French accordion player, Jacques Pellarin. If you want to support the podcast, please share it with your ukulele friends and communities. This is the second episode of 2023 and we are on the third week of January. Two known musicians have passed away and, I bet, many unknown great musicians too. Time, as an abstract concept and, at the same time, is also a continuum of events that will keep occurring on all living entities. We may say that time is infinite, but we could not say the same of our existence. Therefore, is it time a tangible notion to keep track of our existence? Or, as a McTaggart once said, there is no such thing as time. You may ask why I bring the topic of time, because with my guest we travel to different times and discuss the wonderful era of Tin Pan Alley to nowadays technology and how much influence it has in our life. The first song you listened is Empty Kettle and last one is Media Luna. I hope you could enjoy both songs and Christopher entire repertoire. Christopher Davis-Shannon is not only a ukelele performer, but he is Ukelele’s Preacher. His video attest to my opinion. As his website states: His books include technique studies ranging from baroque campanella to adaption of clawhammer banjo, as well as rhythmic studies on George Formby. Therefore, you will be listening to a musician whose passion for this wonderful instrument is infinite and is not shaped in a straight line but in one line with different branches that will take you on different spins throughout this conversation. You can follow Christopher on the following website and social media platforms: https://www.thetinman.co/ https://www.patreon.com/cdavisshannon Twitter: @cdavisshannon Instagram: @cdavisshannon YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Banjoleletinman The music included in this episode are protected under US Copyright Act and its arrangements/ownership/proprietorship belongs to Christopher Davis Shannon. Christopher Davis, chairman and portfolio manager at Davis Advisors and the Davis Funds, says that "the bubble has been pricked" on the "crazy, hyper-speculative" growth companies, but that has put some names into the stock market's sweet spot, especially for investors with long time horizons and a value-investing bent. A year ago on the show , Davis said that a hybrid value style that encompassed "undervalued growth companies and value stocks that can grow" would be well positioned for whatever the market could dish out, and he now says the strategy has proven its worth; while the markets have bloodied all investors, Davis believes it has positioned investors to be long-term winners by staying the course. Also on the show, Greg McBride, chief financial analyst at BankRate.com discusses the site's latest survey showing that inflation concerns are making investors even more nervous that their retirement savings are falling behind, and Chuck talks about his annual Halloween "cash or candy" giveaway and how he will be working it on the trick-or-treaters this year, expecting the kids to be feeling the pinch of inflation this year too.
We are incredibly excited to be joined by Christopher Davis, an EA Sports writer and designer that is actively working on the return of EA Sports NCAA Football video game. Chris provides some exciting news and insights regarding the video game that is currently scheduled to be released next year.

The Lizard Man story is 34 years old this month. Bishopville's embrace of the legend is still in its early days. In this episode Post and Courier photographer Andrew Whitaker and projects reporter Thad Moore spoke with many people from the town and Lizard Man enthusiasts. One person they talked with, Robert Howell, grew up in nearby Timmonsville. Howell is known for his early illustrations and Lizard Man comics in the summer on 1988. Howell tells the story of Christopher Davis, a 17-year-old who became famous after an encounter with the creature. Davis had stopped to change a tire along Browntown Road after leaving a night shift at a local fast food restaurant. Then he saw a 7-foot creature with scaly skin and glowing red eyes.More coverage:Return of the Lizard Man: Bishopville's journey to reclaim an SC monsterVideo: South Carolina's Lizard Man story of Christopher DavisPhotos: The Lizard Man Stomp in BishopvilleThis is the first episode of a four-part bonus series from Understand SC.Understand SC is a weekly podcast from The Post and Courier that draws from the reporting resources and knowledge of our newsroom to help you better understand South Carolina. Christopher Davis is a retired Assistant Chief from the Fayetteville NC PD and served as an Officer in the Army. He served in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He is an adjunct professor and a trained yoga instructor who through his business, YOGA911, teaches the tools of yoga and mindfulness to first responders I had the opportunity to meet Chris earlier this year at the National FOP Wellness Conference and we instantly clicked. He is the prime example of why the the tools of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness are a perfect fit for the manliest of cops. Chris openly discusses how yoga played a part during one of the lowest parts of his life where he contemplated suicide. We discuss how the an invite to a yoga challenge by a co-worker sparked his love for the practice. There is no “right way” to healing and wellness. Chris shares how he navigated this difficult time through yoga, EMDR, peer support, rx, and intentional positive stressors. Chris tells us about his first experience with EMDR therapy and how the incident that was most bothersome to him had nothing to do with a recent shooting he had been involved with, but organizational stress. This is a topic I covered previously in an episode with Dr. Stephanie Conn. The last few minutes of our episode had some technical difficulties, so it is unable to be aired. CHirs and I wrap up our conversation with him sharing all the ways you can reach him which are included in the show notes. As a society, Americans are stressed out. Currently, we are facing perhaps the greatest uncertainty and stressors of our lifetime. Whenever we feel stressed out we suffer from not only anxiety and depression, but other health issues as well. Last week you heard cardiologist Dr. Christopher Davis, talking about the rise in heart conditions and the role stress has played. This week, in a very special extended episode, you will be hearing more about the root cause of many of our societal health problems – stress – from an expert on the subject. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Gabor Maté several times on Mind Body Health & Politics. Dr. Maté is a bestselling author of four books published in over thirty language and an internationally renowned speaker highly sought after for his expertise on addiction, trauma, childhood development, and the relationship of stress and illness. His book on addiction, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts, received the Hubert Evans Prize for literary non-fiction.Rather than offering quick-fix solutions to these complex issues, Dr. Maté weaves together scientific research, case histories, and his own insights and experience to present a broad perspective that enlightens and empowers people to promote their own healing and that of those around them. For his groundbreaking medical work and writing he has been awarded the Order of Canada, his country’s highest civilian distinction, and the Civic Merit Award from his hometown, Vancouver. He is also an expert on trauma, chemical dependence, and the broader topic of today’s program: stress and the mind-body connection. In the first part of this episode we look at stress and addiction, while the second part focuses on a less obvious manifestation of stress and disease- the proliferation of diagnoses of ADHD. Do we live in a toxic culture? Are we making ourselves sick? Dr. Gabor Maté answers these questions and more in this week's new episode. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit mindbodyhealth.substack.com

Let's say you come face to face with a cryptid and live to tell the tale, do you tell someone? I know the first thing you're thinking, I bet if I tell someone they are going to call me crazy, but what happens if they don't? On today's episode of Campfire Adventures we are introduced to a kid named Christopher Davis and on a super early drive he had some car trouble and had to pull over next to a well known swamp. He gets out and fixes the car and just when he gets ready to leave he hears wet sounding footsteps creep closer and closer to him. As he gets in the car and locks the door he is frightened when a giant lizard-like creature tries to force its way into his car. He gets away just barely and rushes back to town to tell anyone who will listen to his story, but do they believe him or do they just brush him off? Take a listen and hear of the fate that awaits both Christopher and this mysterious swamp creature.
Just about everyone from the Palmetto State can tell you about the tall, scaly creature that enjoys destroying automobiles. Christopher Davis was the first to report the sightings of a half man/half lizard creature back in 1988. Since then, it has been a staple of the community in Bishopville, SC. Not everyone is sure of the cryptid's existence, but those attending it's annual festival say otherwise.
