My guest this week is Sean Hemeon — an actor, writer, painter, and former Mormon drug dealer. Sean's currently working on a memoir that details just how deep he fell into a violent, and at times deadly world of dealing crystal meth. And how an arrest, a lucky break, and a love of acting helped pull him out. We'll have that conversation in a moment. This week, I'm looking back at a 2011 interview with the folks behind the webseries Husbands: Jane Espenson, Brad Bell, and Sean Hemeon. When it was created, the world in which Husbands took place was kind of a fantasy realm: marriage equality was just a fact of life. It's just five years later now, and it's a bit strange to think how recently that had to be speculative fiction.
The creators of Husbands, the series, Jane Espenson (Once Upon a Time; Buffy; Caprica) and Brad Bell (Cheeks), have written a wonderful series for Dark Horse Comics, and it is finally released in collected, hardcover form! Join Jane, Brad, and Husbands co-star Sean Hemeon as they discuss bringing their web-series creation to comics, the next season of Husbands, stage a reading from the comic, and more!Recorded April 14, 2013.
Television writer Jane Espenson is well-known for her work on such iconic television series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood, Game of Thrones and now Once Upon a Time. She will be joining me for an hour of discussion about this week's Once Upon a Time, which she wrote, as well as her other projects, including her great web series Husbands co-created with Brad "Cheeks" Bell. Brad and his co-star Sean Hemeon will also be joining the discussion during the second half hour to talk about Husbands, and about an upcoming important event in Salt Lake City. So please tune in, call in, or just sit back and listen in! In the meantime, check out my new TV-only blog for news, interviews, reviews, features, and more!
Join us as we chat with guest Gareth Hughes of the U.K. Once Upon a Time Fansite. We'll talk about his wonderful and comprehensive site and the recent With Kids Glasgow charity auction in which the site auctioned off "the chipped cup" among other wonderful Once memorabilia. We'll also be joined during the hour by Husbands' stars Sean Hemeon and Brad "Cheeks" Bell (who also created the series with Jane Espenson) to talk about an upcoming Husbands event in Salt Lake City.
