In Matthew 25, Jesus tells two stories that illustrate what it means to wait for him to return. In the first story, ten bridesmaids wait for the arrival of the groom and the start of the wedding celebration. Half are ready when the groom finally comes, but the other half miss the wedding entirely because they're unprepared. Jesus' warning is simple: true disciples don't just wait for Jesus to return — they prepare their hearts and lives for it.The second story shifts from a wedding banquet to a final judgment, where Jesus separates sheep from goats. The separation isn't based on religious activity or spiritual knowledge but on on who was willing to serve “the least of these.” Both of these stories teach us what it means to wait expectantly for Jesus to return: meeting needs, serving others, and working to prepare the world for the Kingdom to come in full.
At a time before Jesus went to the cross He sat on the Mount of Olives with His disciples. In a private moment with them, they asked about the end of the age. Jesus explains that at the appointed time of our Father, there will be a separation of those who have received Him and those who have rejected Him. Let us read of that time and what will take place. As you listen be blessed, empowered and transformed in Jesus name.Send us a textFor more information and free resources visit our website jesuslovestheworld.info Also connect with us in discipleship, watch our videos, follow us on facebook or send us an email
Nathan launches our new series 'Why did Jesus say that?' We look at the passages where Jesus is reported to have said some rather challenging things. What did Jesus really say and mean? We start looking at Matthew 25:31-46, this passage seems to talk about a final judgement and the separation of people like 'sheep and goats', doesn't it?
Matthew 25:31–45 (NASB) 31"But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32"And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. 34"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? 38'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39'And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' 41"Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me . . . 45"Then He will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46"And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Scripture: Matthew 25:31-46 Key Takeaways: + The Identity Jesus Claims Daniel 7:13-14 Acts 17:30-31 "I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God? That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." – C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity. "The sane man does not believe that he is God; the sane man does not believe that he will rise from the dead. If Jesus said those things, He was either speaking the truth, or He was insane." – G. K. Presented at Curwensville Alliance on 8/17/25 by Pastor Steve Shields. Listen as Pastor Steve goes through the parable found in Matthew 25:31-46. The determining factor are you "blessed" or "cursed"? Unless you have humbled yourself and understood your own need for grace, giving grace to others doesn't come naturally. The way you live doesn't determine your spiritual destiny - it reveals your heart. The judgement tells us you do have to face the reality that you need forgiveness. You get to live your faith as an expression of your experience with grace.
Pastor Chris preaches from Matthew 25:31-46. This parable points out that eternity rests on our choice of identity.

TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: And now let us pray. Merciful god, you have brought us through the night into this new day. We offer you our lives again, our hopes, our fears, our work, our rest. Keep us faithful in the little things and mindful of your presence in every moment. Let us not be led by anxiety or pride, but by your peace that passes all understanding through Jesus Christ our lord. Amen. Lord Jesus, you stretched wide your arms on the cross to draw all people to yourself. Draw the hurting, the hungry, the weary. Break down every wall of hostility, and build us into one family by your spirit. Amen. And now, lord, teach me to walk, not with fear, but with faith. Where there is noise, let me be still. Where there is boasting, let me be quiet. Where there is suffering, let me kneel. Let me not crave recognition, but righteousness. Not applause, but communion. For in you, I have life. And in dying with you, I rise. Amen. And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Dr. Jake Thorn, Extension Sheep and Goat Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife recently visited with County Extension Agents Andy Hart and Mark Carroll about the possibility of diversifying sheep or goats with cattle in the Panhandle and South Plains area of Texas. The discussed topics related to economics, grazing preference and diversity, increased numbers of sheep, types of sheep, reproduction facts, challenges, etc. Gaurding animals were a big topic of discussion in dealing with predators and these included gaurding dogs, donkeys, and Llama. Predators and parasites are the biggest challenges along with fencing. What about goats? They get into that as well. Excellent discussion regarding a growing topic of producers in the area. Thanks to Andy and Mark for recording this and Dr. Thorne for his expertise. Enjoy!

And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
