If Super Mario Bros. was the culmination of the Famicom's early history in Japan, Super Mario Bros. 2 for NES served the same role here in the U.S. Debuting as the console hit critical mass in time for its first major holiday season in America, SMB2 sent players into a huge, imaginative game world that they could tackle with their choice of four different characters, not just Mario. Despite its complicated history, SMB2 became one of the system's greatest hits and did a great deal to define Mario in the West. Nintendo took no chances with this one, and this episode also looks at one of the keys to SMB2's staggering success: Nintendo Power magazine. The first of which is the DmC reboot, which was so tonally discordant with the rest of the series with its edgelord "hollywood-ification" of the plot and characters. It's a decent action game mechanically and would have been well received if they simply... didn't call it DmC. Then there's DMC2, which is a dull and bad video game by any measure. You'd be doing yourself a favor by going straight from 1 to 3, it's that unremarkable.   twodollarhero — 06/23/2021 I think a lot of the more recent Super Monkey Ball games are a good example of this. I've been playing SMB2 again lately (because I'm so hyped for Banana Mania) and bouncing from that (no pun intended) to something like Banana Blitz HD is a jarring experience.  The more modern entries of the series - which vastly outnumber what fans consider to be the “good” games - totally misrepresent what the games are about. Suddenly, there's jumping mechanics and every level is littered with guard rails or worst of all, control gimmicks. The series is about fun, challenging arcade gameplay with pitch perfect controls… and most of the games in the series at this point aren't about that anymore.   SpiderShan — 06/23/2021 I guess I'd have to go with Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World for Wii. There are quite a few “Tales of” games and spin-offs and Tales of Symphonia for GameCube is considered one of the best. I know it's my favorite in the series. I was hyped to play the sequel but they decided to change a lot of the gameplay including the use of monsters in place of human companions. You play as characters completely unrelated to the original game and the characters that I loved from the first game were “guest characters” in the sequel that would come and go and were a hollow shell of what they were before. It's such a departure from what made the original so special. ChrisHL94Rewind

This talk will present the results of a broad analysis performed on the network-facing components of the release (RTM) version of Microsoft Windows Vista, as well as the results of study of the security implications of the related Teredo protocol. Windows Vista features a rewritten network stack, which introduces a number of core behavior changes. New protocols include IPv6 and related protocols, LLTD, LLMNR, SMB2, PNRP, PNM, and WSD. One of the IPv4-IPv6 transition mechanisms provided by Vista is Teredo, which tunnels IPv6 through a NAT by using IPv4 UDP. This provides globally usable IPv6 addresses without the knowledge or cooperation of any part of local network. The main security concerns raised by Teredo involves security controls being bypassed, defense in depth reduced, and unsolicited traffic being allowed by the protocol. Other security concerns with Teredo include the capability of remote nodes to open the NAT for themselves, worms, ways to deny Teredo service, the difficulty in finding all Teredo traffic to inspect, and a new phishing mechanism.
