One of the most legendary relics of the past is the Spear of Longinus, also called the Holy Lance, or the Spear of Destiny. From its origins in the Gospel of John, to present day it has been an enduring legend. This episode focuses on how it intrigued Hitler, Himmler, and the SS as they sought to conquer the west. Pyrefly is a faster, open-source Python type checker written in Rust, succeeding Pyre. But what prompted the rewrite and what besides the language choice ended up making it faster? Host Pascal talks to Maggie, Rebecca and returning guest Neil about the unexpected complexities of building an incremental type checker that scales to mono repositories in episode 75. Got feedback? Y'all have either read or watched the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson, right (I highly recommend the books, but I understand if reading 15,000 pages of description isn't your thing. The show started out ok, and it has grown on me, you should give it another try)? You know how the Children of the Light, the paramilitary group informally known as the Whitecloaks. They have an embedded group dedicated to rooting out the darkness. That group is called the Questioners and they are loosely modeled after the Spanish Inquisition that was created by Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile in the year of our lord (As Tiler would say) 1478. The Questioners do just that; put people to the question, and through various methods extract a confession out the subject of their ire. Most of the time their confessions are from the innocent who are simply trying to end the torture. I never understood how can the Whitecloaks even do this when their ranks are filled with Darkfriends. It's a shameful organization considering how easily they were infiltrated, and how quickly their hypocrisy was found out. Yet they do play an important role in the story, even if the the whole Two Rivers arc was drawn out over three books. The one thing Whitecloaks do is put people to the question. The Phantom Phinders do the same in this episode. We are often pre-disposed to discuss “the things we do wrong”, or “that shitty thing that happened”, or “that asshole that ruined the gig”. Maybe it's in our nature. MP and Ben turn the fables and spin a pair of “it was all worth it” stories from their distant musical pasts, before they completely threw in the towel and became podcasters. ORIGINAL AIR DATE: JAN 1, 2020A pyre (Ancient Greek: πυρά; pyrá, from πῦρ, pyr, "fire"), also known as a funeral pyre, is a structure, usually made of wood, for burning a body as part of a funeral rite or execution. As a form of cremation, a body is placed upon or under the pyre, which is then set on fire. In discussing ancient Greek religion, "pyre" (the normal Greek word for fire) is also used for the sacred fires at altars, on which parts of the animal sacrifice were burnt as an offering to the deity. Once they decend The Fallen will require a pyre of bones as proof of right to rule.1 Kings 132 Kings 23Jeremiah 8

Today I sit with Ashley Hurwitz and Ra'Chaun Rogers of Lawful Evil Comics to speak about their newest offering Pyre: Burial at Sea. A continuance into the Lawful Evil Universe as the character Lily or Succubabe as she is known and her origin as a Demigod born into a lineage that tends to continue old traditions and more accustomed to power, but Lily is more unconventional and sees the world as her playground. In fact, in this series her first contact with humanity after escaping her realm takes us to a period in the High seas when the world was surrounded by Pirates. Amidst all the debauchery, violence, and death, Lily chooses to adapt and play along concealing her true power. That is if her Father an Eldritch God seeks her out first. My guest today is the American voice-actor and activist Sarah Elmaleh. As a student at Wesleyan University she performed in a variety of theatrical productions and radio plays, spending a portion of her studies at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford. After graduating she moved to Brooklyn, New York, and was working as a stage actor when she fell in with the city's game development scene, and decided to commit her life to the art form. She moved to Los Angeles and began voicing characters in blockbuster games such as Fortnite, Halo Infinite, Gears of War 5, as well as critically acclaimed indie titles such as Afterparty, Pyre, and Gone Home. During this time, she began working as a liaison between game developers and the actor's union, SAG-AFTRA. Today, she sits as chair of the union's Interactive Media unit, working to secure workplace measures that are common elsewhere in Hollywood. Music is undeniably a huge part of what makes video games special, both individually and on an industry-wide level. Not only is no gaming award show complete without a gong for the year's best soundtrack, but even the Proms have started acknowledging that video game scores have come a long way since the 8-bit days (without throwing any shade on chiptune, a legitimate genre in and of itself with some stone-cold classics). That's probably why, from huge AAAs to smaller indies, music can account for a significant chunk of any game's budget — and it's definitely worth the investment. For this episode, the Indieventure trio have pooled our vinyl collection to talk about some of our personal favourite indie game music highlights. I know you guys say you love long show notes but there's seriously no way I'm going to be able to list every track we talk about here — which is why we've put together [a YouTube playlist] that should cover everything instead! A quick overview, though, sees us talking about the music from games including Balatro, Bombrush Cyberfunk, Braid, Celeste, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Dear Esther, Death's Door, Dicey Dungeons, Disco Elysium, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Fields of Mistria, Firewatch, Hades, Hades II, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Hollow Knight, Hotline Miami, Hypnospace Outlaw, Journey, Kentucky Route Zero, Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp, Minecraft, No Straight Roads, Paradise Killer, Pizza Tower, Pyre, Return of the Obra Dinn, Stardew Valley, A Tower Full of Cats, Trombone Champ, Undertale, Unravel, and We Happy Few. If you'd like to hear every track we discuss in this episode in its entirety, we've added them all to a convenient YouTube playlist that you can find here. During the course of this chat we also promise you a couple of specific links, so go here for Bombrush Cyberfunk soundtrack memes, and here for one of the Ace Attorney x Danganronpa musical mashup channels on YouTube that Rebecca (and now Rachel too) is so very fond of. Finally, as ever, are our current hyperfixations! Rebecca has discovered an accidentally awesome double-bill of horror novels with a timely social message in Chuck Tingle's Bury Your Gays and Grady Hendrix's The Final Girl Support Group; Liam's been having a whimsical time in recently-released indie platformer The Plucky Squire; and Rachel is having a moment with girly pop in general, and Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter in particular, thanks to the recent VMAs award show. Our music, meanwhile, was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic. Meanwhile, you can find us at indieventurepodcast.co.uk or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Welcome to the forty-fourth episode of The Daily Rings of Power Podcast! Today's episode is a very rough and ready reaction to Bear McCreary's soundtrack album for Season 2, which was released at the end of last week. This will be a similar episode to the two-parter I did for the Season 1 album, in that it won't be a detailed analysis of the individual tracks and all the musical nuances contained within. However, I hope you enjoy my joyful and enthusiastic review of these 25 tracks. The Woven Cord says their goodbyes and preps as they travel to find Raspian's contact. Arriving at the eerily calm and clean town of Humble Grove they learn quickly that magic and the town don't mix. Frunk gets confused when he doesn't recognize his home at all, and time doesn't seem to be adding up. Whiskey: Old St. Andrew's Clubhouse Scotch in miniature golf ball decanters Wormholes: Sue and Shavonne join us for only our second Wormhole episode ever! • Ed puts out Shavonne's business (but it's for her own protection) • Sue and this whisky were born in the same year (1969 *wink*) • #doublegroan • Golf has been annoying wives for six centuries • Ed's brother and his housemate are just friends (like Scott & Ed and Bert & Ernie) • The St. Andrew's packaging is like an old Christmas ornament box • Apparently “old men in white shorts” is a nosing note now • Ed's appropriate for once • Gasoline has had the lowest percentage price increase since 1982 • Today's stock market has grown 38 times what it was • Shavonne was drinking whiskey at 3 and Scott was doing coke at 14 • Wait, John Hinckley is on social media?! • The Tylenol scare changed drug packaging forever • Shavonne shades Ed • We don't talk about Jarvik 1 through 6 • Sue won a “Who Shot JR?” contest • Ed does a solid Nick Nolte impression • Ed's being a killjoy (but gets overruled by the ladies being annoying) • Scott has the Rick Springfield box set • 1982 wasn't really a great year for music Music Credits: Political Action Ad, Ouroboros, and The Pyre by Kevin MacLeod | Link: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io | License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0
The Hodges Massacre And Its Awful AftermathPut on your favorite indignation hat, my friend, because episode 253 is going to be one of those. This case was mentioned in the coverage of the Padrick case, Episode 245, Slain For Her Own Salvation, and it piqued my interest and the interest of some listeners, so I looked into it. I hesitated going on. We live in tense times but I decided it's important to remember how ugly things can get. All of my stories are cautionary tales, and we should never forget the dark past so we won't go there again. The Hodges family massacre sparked a wave of lynchings and other crimes against African-Americans in Georgia and nearby states.According to the Tuskegee Institute, between 1882 and 1964, 4,743 people were lynched in the United States, 3,446 of them African-Americans, 73 percent. Georgia racked up 531, 92 percent African-American, more lynchings than any other state except Mississippi, 581.Ad-Free EditionBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crime-historian--2909311/support.

For the first time in a long time, maybe ever, we have all 4 of the dogs present to share thoughts on the new Pyre and Flood box set. The lumineth and the nighthaunt fight each other to see who gets to be the one who actually destroys the Gnarlwood! And we talk about it. We also talk about the warbands that are getting discontinued in 2025! https://www.mortalrealms.com/discord https://www.mortalrealms.com/patreon
A huge thank you to Games Workshop for sending us an advance copy of Pyre & Flood for review! Join Jerod and Tres as they review the Pyre & Flood Warcry box. In the third episode of the third season of Medium of the Month, we are joined by my long-time mate and one of my favorite content producers, Ben Garnhum, who I invited on to talk about the medium of Video Games. Two video games are highlighted one after the other in this episode: Supergiant Games' "Pyre" and Color Gray Games' "Case of the Golden Idol". We only dabble with light spoilers, so you do not have to worry about that in this episode. After your listen, please tune into Ben's podcast: "Defend the Podcast" on your podcasting application of choice or head over to youtube and look up Defend the House for all their mythbusting content. Why did the Aggies have a Mike Stoops coup? They also discuss the effect of how Jeff Lebby's hire to Mississippi State will impact Oklahoma and the Bulldogs.
