Nach der reinen PR-Show mit „Made for Germany“, die unser „Kanzler der Herzen“ Friedrich „BlackRock“ Merz auf bundesebne für Deutschland abgeliefert hat kommt nun dasselbe für die „EU-Ebene“, ihrerseits zelebriert von unserer „EU-Rüstungslobbyistin“, und Präsidentin ohne jegliche demokratische Legitimation, Ursula von der Leyen, die sich zum großen „Deal-Deal“ nach Schottland aufgemacht hatte, um für die Europäische Union am „Pokertisch“ von Trump, einen Zollzins auszuhandeln, der Europa nicht ins wirtschaftliche Nirvana befördert. Auch wenn jeder „Hobby-Wahrsager“ mit einer Glasmurmel schon vorhersehen konnte, wie das ausgeht, ist es ein Stück Realsatire, das in die Geschichte eingehen wird, vor allem in die Geschichte über und rund um Uschi „ich bin intelligenzresistent und juristisch unantastbar“ von der Leyen. Denn es kam wie es unausweichlich kommen musste: Trump hat sie nicht ernst genommen und einmal mehr über den Tisch gezogen, ihr ein vermeintlich „wohlwollendes Entgegenkommen“ angeboten, das sie schlicht nicht ablehnen konnte, und so war es die wohl sprichwörtlichste „08/15 (%) - Übereinkunft“, die man sich vorstellen kann. Uschi musste quasi mit einem, metaphorisch umschrieben, peinlichen „Gebrauchtwagendeal“ die Heimreise antreten und Trump hat einen Doppelsieg davongetragen, 5% mehr Zoll auf alle Waren aus Europa als „Gewinn Nr.1“ und eine „große Geste“, mit 50% weniger als befürchtet, lässt ihn als Wohltäter dastehen, als „Gewinn Nr.2“, Schach und matt in zwei Zügen.Die Stimmung war gelöst und so gekünstelt freundlich, wie man es sich nur vorstellen konnte, denn im Grunde verachtet der derzeitige US-Präsident kaum jemanden so sehr, wie unsere EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen. Und mit was? Mit Recht, möchte man sagen. Wir „freien Medien“ wissen das! Trump weiß das, sogar „unser aller Ursula“ weiß es und doch kann und will der sogenannter selbsternannte „Qualitätsjournalismus“ nicht von seiner Begeisterung für unsere „Berufskrimminelle“ aus Brüssel ablassen.Für Beide ging es bei diesem Treffen darum einen „guten Deal“ zu machen und so machte Trump seine „große Geste“, die dennoch 5% zusätzliche Einnahmen für seinen Staatshaushalt bedeuten und auf Stahl und Aluminium bleiben die aktuellen 50% Zollaufschlag, darüberhinaus rang er Frau von der Leyen noch die Zusage für mehr Einkäufe von US-Waren ab, u.a. auch was Energieträger angeht, womit vor allem das teure Fracking-Gas gemeint sein dürfte. Mit einer Ausnahme, die Automobilindustrie darf etwas durchatmen, denn für sie geht der Zollzinssatz um 10% runter, was vor allem in Deutschland gern gehört wird und gewiss zu großer Erleichterung in der Automobilbranche geführt hat, denn alles wird nun mit den 15% belegt und bei den Autos lag der Zoll aktuell bei 25%. Dennoch bleiben für alles andere eben die 5% mehr Zoll, die es für viele EU-Produkte schwer machen wird auf dem US-Markt konkurrenzfähig zu bleiben, was die Preise angeht.5% ist aber auch nicht so spürbar, wie die angedrohten 30%, sprich, nicht alles aus Europa wird in den amerikanischen Regalen liegen bleiben und für die US-Staatskasse damit am Ende doch was „rum kommen“, was Trump, mit Blick auf seine Wahlversprechen, dringend braucht, um seinen MAGA-Kurs weiter fort zu setzen, im Sinne seiner Wähler. Viele Betreuerinnen und Betreuer stehen regelmäßig vor der Frage, wann und für wen eine Steuererklärung Pflicht ist und wie man mit steuerlichen Angelegenheiten in der Betreuungspraxis umgehen sollte. Wir liefern praxisnahe Hinweise, Abgrenzungen und Tipps, was bei Est-Erklärung, Fristen, Ausnahmen sowie bei der Zusammenarbeit mit Steuerberatern oder Lohnsteuerhilfevereinen wichtig ist. Die wichtigsten Themen der Folge Pflicht zur Steuererklärung: Wann Betreuer verantwortlich sind Wir erläutern, wer als rechtlicher Betreuer zur Abgabe einer Steuererklärung verpflichtet ist – insbesondere dann, wenn der Aufgabenkreis Vermögenssorge umfasst. Dabei ist zu beachten, dass nicht nur aktuelle, sondern auch zurückliegende Steuerjahre relevant sein können. Wer ist steuerpflichtig und wer nicht? Wir zeigen auf, dass nicht alle Betreuten steuerpflichtig sind. Es ist stets zu prüfen, ob relevante Einkünfte wie Lohn, Rente, Mieteinkünfte oder Kapitalerträge vorliegen. Auch spezielle Situationen wie Lohnersatzleistungen oder Renten aus dem Ausland (z.B. Schweiz) können Steuerpflichten begründen. Häufige Praxisfälle und Besonderheiten Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf Rentnern, Empfängerinnen von Lohnersatzleistungen (z.B. Krankengeld, ALG I, Kurzarbeitergeld, Elterngeld), Betreuten mit Behinderungen und Personen mit zusätzlichen Einkünften. Wir sprechen über Rücklagenbildung für etwaige Steuernachzahlungen und über die Möglichkeit, außergewöhnliche Belastungen und Pflegekosten steuermindernd geltend zu machen. Delegation und Unterstützung: Steuerberater, Lohnsteuerhilfevereine und ELSTER Ein weiteres Thema ist, in welchen Konstellationen Betreuer die Steuererklärung selbst machen oder delegieren können. Wir beschreiben, wann Lohnsteuerhilfevereine unterstützen dürfen, wann ein Steuerberater ratsam ist und wie digitale Tools wie ELSTER die Arbeit vereinfachen können. Richtiger Umgang mit Unsicherheiten und der Kommunikation mit dem Finanzamt Wir geben Hinweise, wie Betreuer trotz unvollständiger Unterlagen oder schwierigem Sachverhalt korrekt und haftungssicher handeln. Wichtig: Frühzeitige Kommunikation mit dem Finanzamt, offene und ehrliche Darstellung in Zusatzanschreiben sowie das Nutzen des Mantelbogens für Erläuterungen. 4. (Re-broadcast, LIVE was not working for all social media on Sunday night, so here ya go! This week at our desk, we spent a lot of our focused engineering time working on e-paper display drivers. These displays are a lot more annoying than TFTs, which have settled on standardized MIPI command sets. Also, they have custom "waveforms" used to configure the refresh technique. By default, we use the built-in waveforms from OTP memory, but it's possible to load new waveforms, letting us do funky stuff like coax 4-grayscale out of a "monochrome" display. We also designed a simple moisture sensor PCB for an ultra-low-cost kit to be used by students—sometimes it's okay to under-design for cost reasons!

For our E-Ink display breakout boards, we add an SRAM chip onboard to help buffer the display. Unlike TFTs that have built-in video RAM, EPDs require writing the full memory at once—which can get into multi-KBs. For many modern chips, up to 64KB of video RAM isn't a big deal, but for small, low-cost micros like Arduino, that's a lot! Since EPDs are slow anyway, we can use an external SRAM chip for fast write/read—an ideal solution.
