Has the Sabbath Day been changed? Is Sunday the New Sabbath? Are those who worship on Sunday guilty of compromise and succumbing to paganism? Does it even matter? What about those who whose jobs require them to work on Saturday or Sunday? All these questions and more have become the controversy that surrounds this fourth commandment. The real issue however is much more basic and spiritual: Do you honor God by worshipful rest, expressing thankfulness to Him and becoming refreshed so you can serve Him the rest of the week? President Donald Trump held a conference call with the commissioners of the major professional sports leagues in North America on Saturday. Per ESPN, Trump expressed confidence that the NFL season would start on time in September. If the NFL starts on time, one would have to think that bodes very well for the 2020 college football season being played. Now, it must be pointed out that some governors -- such as Gavin Newsom of California -- do not share Trump's optimism that the NFL season will start on time. But even if football season starts late with no fans in the stands, sign us up for that. Bill "Bank" Greene joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss that, plus: * What is the latest on the recruiting front for Ohio State? * Specifically, where do the Buckeyes stand with 2021 defensive tackles Tywone Malone and Marcus Bradley? * What about Terrence Lewis? What's going on with him? * Which of the top targets on OSU's board might announce their commitments over the next month or two? * What was the deal with eBay temporarily suspending Chris Spielman's account on Sunday? A den of coyotes has taken up residence near downtown Detroit — specifically, in that weird no-man’s-land site of the old Brewster housing projects where I-75, I-375 and the spur to Gratiot Avenue converge. The Michigan DNR says not to worry. But if you live nearby in, say, Brush Park, you might want to keep a much closer eye on your pets. Also: Yes, we inaccurately datelined yesterday’s episode as a Monday. It brought to mind this classic scene from “Groundhog Day.” In other news, Dan Gilbert has a new podcast in the pipeline. It’s called “Speed of the Game,” and it has a tagline straight from a shoe company ad. Hmmmm….. Also: Ford plans to invest $900 million and create 900 new jobs in the coming years, mostly to build electric vehicles Downriver in Flat Rock The Detroit Regional Chamber is the first big business organization in Michigan to officially endorse Gov. Read today’s show notes on www.evnewsdaily.com   Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Monday 16th July edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport.   DELIVERY TIMES ARE DROPPING FOR NEW TESLA MODEL 3 ORDERS The delivery times for the Tesla Model 3 keep coming down. One of your fellow listeners emailed me last week to say between Design Studio and email saying it was complete, was 10 days. But that seems unlikely for most. "Delivery times for a new Tesla Model 3 order have been dropped to as little as a month in the US, down from the 3-5 month delivery window that was previously in place" report TechCrunch: "Both the long-range rear-wheel model (until recently the only one in production) and the performance dual-motor model are now showing delivery times of 1-3 months. That leaves the long-range dual-motor model configuration, yours in approximately 2-4 months once you've put your cash down. This is just a few days after orders were opened up to everyone in the US, reservation or not."   https://www.techradar.com/news/delivery-times-are-dropping-for-new-tesla-model-3-orders   ELECTRIC POWER DOMINATES AT GOODWOOD Chinese car maker NIO, which builds the EP9 with 1,342hp getting 0-60mph out the way in 2.7 seconds. "Nio EP9's electric hypercar has set the fastest time for a street-legal car in the Goodwood Festival of Speed's famous hill climb" says MotorAuthority: "The car ran a time of 44.61 seconds during Saturday's Supercar shootout event, which eclipsed the previous time of 47.07 set by a McLaren P1. The EP9, like the P1 LM, isn't a regular production car, as just 16 examples are planned. Also, the car's street-legal tires were swapped out for racing slicks for this weekend's hill climb. Still, the EP9's run was incredible and a true sign that electric cars have the potential to rewrite the rule book on performance."   Meanwhile the VW I.D. R Pikes Peak Racer is still setting records. "Having smashed the all-time record at Pikes Peak last month, the I.D. R was expected to be among the quickest runners at the 2018 Festival of Speed - and it hasn't let the side down. On Saturday, with Roman Dumas again driving, it whined its way to a 43.05 secs time over the famed 1.1-mile course, shattering the previous record for electric cars." reports Nic Cackett for pistonheads.com: "On Sunday the I.D. R and Dumas repeated the feat in the final shootout, managing a 43.86 secs run to make it the first electric car to win the event outright. In a sign of the times, it was an electric car in second place, too - the remarkable NIO EP9"   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs1SMr2A5q4   NEW YORK EPRIX: VERGNE WINS FINALE, AUDI TEAMS’ CHAMPIONS "Newly-crowned Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne won a thrilling season-ending New York ePrix on Sunday, but his victory wasn’t enough to seal the teams’ title for his Techeetah squad." writes Alex Kalinauckas for Motorsport.com: "The race took place in hot and sunny conditions – in stark contrast to the wet weather from earlier in the day, which at one point caused organisers to temporarily suspend the event due to the threat of lightening in the area – although that weather threat disappeared and the race took place as scheduled. Vergne led the 43-lap race from the first corner after muscling his way from third on the grid past polesitter Sebastien Buemi on the run to Turn 1."   https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/news/new-york-eprix-vergne-wins-finale-audi-teams-champion-1060418/?r=191987&em=1   MORE MODEL 3 VINS "#Tesla registered 3,424 new #Model3 VINs. ~100% estimated to be dual motor. Highest VIN is 75464"   Tim Anderson: "The production burst they’ve had at the end of every quarter has been the average production of the following quarter for a while now. My guess is 60k M3’s and at least 20k S & X for a minimum total of 80k cars produced (& likely delivered)."   Dirk Podolak: "Tesla registered 48k VINs in the first half of 2018. Now they registered 19k VINs in the first half of July alone. Guys, that will be an awesome Q3."   JUNE 2018 ELECTRIFIED VEHICLE SALES IN THE US Electric Car Report updated their June sales tracker at 10:15am yesterday morning, on Sunday: "All major automakers reported June sales numbers for electrified vehicles. Numbers are considerably higher than the totals in June 2017. For the month, more than 25,200 electrified vehicles were sold". Checking on the InsideEVs Scorecard, 2018 June was 25,179 compared to 17,046 June 2017.     COMMUNITY Brian Weatherall.   You can listen to all previous 181 episodes of this podcast on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, YouTube, TuneIn, Stitcher, and the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. It was an incredibly eventful week for WWE, but not entirely for the reasons that the company wanted it to be. Enzo Amore has been fired following the revelations that he has been accused and is under investigation for rape and kept the situation from his employers. In this era of #MeToo, this sort of thing can’t stand in wrestling. But how scared are we that this could be just the start of WWE stars, past and present, being called out for similar heinous actions?  And in much lighter news, WWE celebrated the 25th anniversary of RAW! Unfortunately, people watching it from the Manhattan Center, it wasn’t nearly as entertaining. But between all of the legends and Miz winning back the Intercontinental Title, which of the hosts had fun, and who hated it? Plus, Sami Zayn picked up a major win against AJ Styles in the main event of Smackdown. Is this the signature win he needed as a heel or is this undone by taking a big loss on Sunday? All that, and we continue to be excited about the Royal Rumble and feel like the Mixed Match Challenge is still providing a ton of things to love. Main Event Every time there’s a major anniversary or occasion in WWE, it’s a safe bet that we’re going to be treated to a wealth of nostalgia. And while a little bit of that is fun, when does it cross the line? And how big of a problem is it when a young team like the Revival is destroyed by a group of older wrestlers for the purposes of a nostalgia pop? The Three Count Danielle put over Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn in the Mixed Match Challenge. Mike put over Mike Parrow's interviews on his experience as a gay wrestler. Hal put over the post-match promo in the MMC from the Miz and Asuka Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Mike Eagle.  Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.
