"For years, I'd hold a Christmas and birthday dinner at my home," she explained in a recent interview. "But since we can't do that this time around due to the pandemic, we'll be bringing the party to fans as a live stream event. I want to show folks that I'm still here and kicking!"On the heels of her album, The Voices of Christmas, Ms. Warwick will be joined by many guests who participated in the holiday recording - Johnny Mathis, the Oak Ridge Boys w/John Rich, Billy Ray Cyrus and Aloe Blacc, to name a few. In addition, entertainers and celebrities from around the world will send birthday and Christmas greetings.Portions of the proceeds from the live stream event will benefit Hunger Not Impossible - a text-based service that connects kids and families in need with prepaid, nutritious, to-go meals from nearby restaurants. "Every year, there are families that cannot afford to even buy basic foods for their children - and it's worse near the holiday season," Ms. Warwick stated, "With this event, we'll be able to help this wonderful organization with its efforts to feed folks."Hunger Not Impossible website - www.notimpossible.comFor information regarding Dionne Warwick's celebration, go to www.officialdionnewarwick.comDIONNE WARWICK BIO (FROM BIOGRAPHY.COM)Dionne Warwick sang in a gospel trio before recording her first hit songs, including "Walk on By" and "I Say a Little Prayer." After a lull in her career in the 1970s, her album Dionne (1979) sold a million copies. She went on to release the albums Heartbreaker (1982) and How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye? (1983). In 2012, Warwick celebrated her 50th anniversary in the music business with the album Now.Born Marie Dionne Warrick on December 12, 1940, in East Orange, New Jersey, Dionne Warwick has enjoyed a tremendously long career as a singer. She comes from a gospel musical background as the daughter of a record promoter and a gospel group manager and performer. As a teenager, Warwick started up her group, the Gospelaires, with her sister, Dee Dee, and aunt Cissy Houston. After finishing high school in 1959, Warwick pursued her passion at the Hartt College of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. She also landed some work with her group singing backing vocals for recording sessions in New York City. During one session, Warwick met Burt Bacharach. Bacharach hired her to record demos featuring songs written by him and lyricist Hal David. A record executive liked Warwick's demo so much that Warwick got her own record deal.In 1962, Warwick released her first single, "Don't Make Me Over." It became a hit the following year. A typo on the record led to an accidental name. Instead of "Dionne Warrick," the label read "Dionne Warwick." She decided to keep the new moniker and went on to greater chart success. In 1964, Warwick had two Top 10 singles with "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "Walk On By"-both penned by Bacharach and David. "Walk On By" was also her first No. 1 R&B hit.: More hits, including many written by Bacharach and David, followed as the 1960s progressed. "Message to Michael" made the Top 10 in 1966, and her version of "I Say A Little Prayer" climbed as high as the No. 4 spot the following year. Warwick also found great success with her contributions to movie soundtracks. The theme song for the 1967 film Alfie, starring Michael Caine, was a solid success for her, as was "Valley of the Dolls," from the 1968 movie of the same name.In 1968, Warwick had other hits, including her trademark tune "Do You Know the Way to San Jose," which earned Warwick her first Grammy Award. That same year, Warwick made history as the first African-American woman to perform for Queen Elizabeth II in England.Warwick reached the top of the pop charts for the first time in 1974 with "Then Came You," which she recorded with the Spinners. But then Warwick suffered a career slump for several years. In 1979, she made a triumphant return to the charts with the ballad "I'll Never Love This Way Again." She also soon became a fixture on television with the music program Solid Gold, which she hosted in the early 1980s. Warwick also had several successful collaborative efforts. In 1982, she made the charts with "Friends In Love" with Johnny Mathis, and "Heart Breaker" with Barry Gibb.Around this time, Warwick scored one of the biggest hits of her career with "That's What Friends Are For." Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Gladys Knight also appeared on this 1985 No. 1 hit, which was an AIDS charity single written by Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager. "Love Power," her duet with Jeffrey Osbourne two years later, marked her next major hit.Warwick encountered some challenges beginning in the 1990s. It was revealed in the late 1990s that she had a lien against her for unpaid taxes. In 2002, she was arrested in a Miami airport for possession of marijuana. She lost her sister, Dee Dee, in 2008, and her cousin, Whitney Houston, four years later. Despite these personal losses, Warwick continued to perform and to record new music. In 2012, Warwick celebrated her 50th year in music with the album Now. The recording features songs written by Bacharach and David. She once explained her longevity to Jet magazine, saying, "I really attribute it to remaining who I am and not jumping ship, being completely cognizant of what the people ... are accustomed to hearing from me."Warwick has two sons, David and Damon Elliot, from her marriage to actor and musician William David Elliot. She has worked with both of her sons on different projects over the years. For more interviews visit: www.iamrefocusedradio.comPodcast Sponsors:Rockafellas Barber Shop San AntonioRico Rodriguez (Owner)www.facebook.com/Rockafellas-Barber-Shop-105026620034718/?ref=page_internal1733 BabcockSan Antonio, Texas 78229Phone: (210) 782-5188The Dear Agency specializes in helping you understand your coverage BEFORE you need it!We offer all lines of personal and commercial insurance, including Auto, Home and Life.Contact Dawn Dear at 210-507-2169 and visit us at 7529 N Loop 1604 in Live Oak, TX or farmersagent.com/ddear

Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has warned that recent progress in suppressing the spread of Covid-19 is at risk after a new rise in case numbers in recent days. On Saturday, Prof Philip Nolan, Nphet’s main modeller, said keeping the country on Level 3 “would have resulted in at least 1,200 hospitalisations” and 150 deaths a month. Separately, Mr Holohan has warned the Government that the number of coronavirus cases in older people and in nursing homes, despite the Level 5 lockdown, remains a concern. As of midnight Sunday 15th November, the HPSC has been notified of 456 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 68,356* confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. The most recent figures for Clare confirm that there were 25 new cases in the county. We’re now being told that we have ‘two weeks to save Christmas’ - can we do it? On Tuesday's Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Director of Public Health HSE Mid-West, Dr. Mai Mannix.
On Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was elected the 46th president of the United States. Vice President-Elect Kamala Devi Harris made history becoming the first woman, the first Black person, and the first South Asian person to ever hold the office. This news resulted in widespread celebrations throughout the country and all across the world. Additionally, a significant number of down-ballot victories also mark historic milestones in U.S. politics—including countless firsts for people of color, LGBTQ+ candidates and women. But while there is cause for celebration, there is more work to be done and more questions to be asked. Was the election free and fair across the nation? What did we learn from this election? Where and how did democracy flourish? What does the 2020 election mean for our democracy, our courts, and our state and federal agencies? Helping us to sort out these questions and more is a very special guest: Vanita Gupta. Gupta is president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. She is an experienced leader and litigator who has devoted her career to civil rights work. From 2014 to 2017, she served as acting assistant attorney general and head of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. Under her leadership, the division engaged in critical work in a number of areas, including advancing constitutional policing and criminal justice reform; prosecuting hate crimes and human trafficking; promoting disability rights; protecting the rights of LGBTQ individuals; ensuring voting rights for all; and combating discrimination in education, housing, employment, lending and religious exercise. Many Canadian provinces are experiencing a second wave of the novel coronavirus. On Saturday, there were six new cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia. We haven't seen numbers that high since May. An infectious disease doctor explains what the numbers could mean for Nova Scotia.
After logging fresh closing peaks in Saturday's Muhurat trading session, the domestic equity market is expected to see a muted start on Tuesday, as indicated by SGX Nifty. At 07:09 AM, the Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) were trading 22 points, or 0.17 per cent lower at 12,881.50 levels. The stock markets were closed on Monday on account of Diwali Balipratipada. On Saturday, the S&P BSE Sensex ended the session 195 points, or 0.45 per cent, higher at 43,638 while NSE's Nifty ended at 12,771, up 51 points. In the overnight trade, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones industrial average notched record closing highs on Monday as news of another promising coronavirus vaccine fanned hopes of eradicating Covid-19, while spiking infections and new shutdowns threatened to hobble a recovery from the pandemic recession. Moderna Inc said its experimental Covid-19 vaccine was 94.5 per cent effective in preventing infection based on interim late-state data. It was the second drugmaker, after Pfizer, to announce promising trial data in the development of a vaccine to defeat the pandemic. Moderna shares gained 9.6 per cent on the day. Following the development, Asian stocks, too, opened firmer on Tuesday. In commodities, oil prices edged higher ahead of OPEC+ meeting. Back home, market participants are likely to opt for a stock-specific approach while also reacting to key macro numbers. The wholesale price index-based (WPI-based) inflation rate rose for the third straight month to an eight-month high of 1.48 per cent in October from 1.32 per cent in the previous month. Unlike its consumer price index (CPI) counterpart, pressure did not come from food items in general. These were manufactured products, particularly pharma and metals, that fuelled the WPI inflation rate. The long-awaited privatisation process for Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) is finally moving to its second stage with at least three to four companies submitting expressions of interest (EoIs). The government had to extend the deadlines for submission of EoIs four times before setting the final deadline on Monday. Reliance Industries, however, did not put in a bid, nor did its partner Saudi Aramco. In a separate development, Reliance Industries’ (RIL’s) retail arm has acquired 96 per cent stake in Bengaluru-based online furniture retailer Urban Ladder for over Rs 182 crore. Meanwhile, HDFC Mutual Fund on Monday said its board of directors had approved the appointment of Navneet Munot as its next managing director and chief executive officer. On the Covid front, India has reported 30,715 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The total caseload now stands at 8,845,617. Delhi's health minister, however, on Monday said that the third coronavirus wave in Delhi has peaked.
With a busy 2020 that saw him release mega-hit ‘Mortal Man’ and launch his own food security organisation that raised north of R1 million, singer, songwriter and producer Jeremy Loops is ready to share new music with you: his single ‘Til I Found You’! On Saturday, 14 November 2020, the Kommetjie local who's enjoyed worldwide fame - and collaborated with the same people who write for Ed Sheeran and Milky Chance - joined Carl Wastie on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 to discuss the new single - as well as the epic music video, which as it turns out, marks Jeremy’s directorial debut, something he’s very proud of. As always, inspiration was the name of the game as Jeremy Loops spoke of how the track came to be, how he learned to direct (spoiler: YouTube tutorials came in handy!) and how his work on creating sustainable food security was starting to bear some very real fruit. More than ever though, the song just made us excited about Summer! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

She made Carl’s favorite Reuben, for Nate she made a vegan wrap and for Myra she made a classic peanut butter and cheese and made an extra grilled cheese for later. Once she had all the sandwiched done she put them in a to go box and brought them out to the counter where Nate picked them up and Carl and Myra were getting ready to leave. “Thanks again Cheryl, I really appreciate the help, and could you stop by the apartment after work,” asked Carl? “I think Myra would like to see you again later this afternoon. I already have dinner made up, the Oh my god Mac and Cheese.” “Of course I’ll stop by, Myra you take good care of Carl okay,” replied Cheryl. “I will, see you after you are done with work,” said Myra. Nate, Carl, and Myra went to the parking lot. Nate had parked on the street about a block away. Once all three got to Carl’s car, there was an awkward silence. They all knew that there was no turning back from this point. Carl opened the back door for Myra and she got in on the passenger side so she would be able to see Carl while he drove. She put on her seatbelt and looked over at Carl. He smiled at her and closed the door. As he did that, Nate gave Carl a hug suddenly. “Alright little bro, I will meet you at your place. I am going to grab some toys and clothes for her and I will get on the phone to my new partner. I’ll let her know what you want to try and do and we will need to move quick to get this done. I just have a bad feeling that this guy is going to show back up and have one of those ah ha moments and want her back. I don’t want to think what that is going to do to you. Here are the sandwiches that Cheryl made, get that girl something to eat and make it an easy day for the both of you. We wil get this figured out,” Nate told Carl. “I couldn’t have gotten this far without you man, thank you. I will pay whatever for the lawyer to get started on this right away, just tell me what I need to do,” replied Carl. “Shut it, basically it will be pro bono for Myra as she has no means of support. Angela, my partner will start by making herself in charge of Myra, like a guardian ad lightum and get the paperwork rolling either today or tomorrow and then name you in the court documents as the sole caregiver. It is not going to be easy, I just want you to know that this now is your full time job,” warned Nate. “I’ve never been more ready for that. Thank you. Should I make more mac and cheese for you or Angela,” asked Carl? “Not tonight, I will drop by and drop off the stuff for you guys. I’d say go to the park or something for a few hours and get to know each other, tomorrow I want you to go through that diary and find out what information you can. That might be our best piece of evidence,” said Nate. “Well I can’t go into it too much because there are some instructions in that book. You heard Myra, she’s not even allowed to touch the book,” said Carl. “Who is going to know, the guy who abandoned his daughter, ware going to get a bit dirty on this so that way you can help her out. Its not going to be easy and you may need a little unsavory to your own moral code when this whole thing goes down. Now get her inside and set up and get some lunch. I’ll see you in a few hours,” said Nate. Carl got into the drivers seat as Nate headed toward his car. He turned on the car and NPR was playing on the radio. He turned it down and looked back at Myra, relieved and smiling. “Okay so my brother Nate is heading to his house to grab you some clothes and some toys. He has a girl that is about twelve and he will be by my apartment later tonight. Cheryl will stop over for dinner. We are having my specialty Oh my god Mac and Cheese, is that okay by you,” asked Carl? “Wow that is one of my favorites. Do I need to call your brother uncle,” asked Myra? “Naw, you can call him Nate, he won’t mind. He may be my older brother, but that would sound weird to him since I am his only brother and I don’t have any kids. How are you holding up right now, would you like to go to my apartment and eat these sandwiches that Cheryl made or would you want to go to a park,” asked Carl? “Do I get my own room,” asked Myra? “Of course, a Myra, feel free to ask any question you want to, this is a little strange I know, it’s strange for me as well so I will ask you questions. If I have and answer I promise to give it to you and if I don’t know I promise to tell that to you as well. Get out of here and head to my apartment and maybe watch some TV. Do you have any favorite shows,” asked Carl? “I didn’t really watch too much TV with my dad, he usually just told me to read while he did work or did something with his phone,” replied Myra? “Well I am a big fan of cartoons, would you like to watch some while we eat lunch,” asked Carl? “You mean eat and watch TV at the same time,” asked Myra? “Oh yeah, we can do that if you like, we will just eat at the coffee table and watch cartoons. We can get your room set up when Nate comes back with some stuff. How does that sound,” asked Carl. “Great,” replied Myra. Carl drove back to his apartment, the traffic seemed pretty light. The lunch rush was just starting. Carl noticed he drove even more cautiously now that Myra was in the back seat. She looked out the window and Carl put on some classical music because he thought that Myra would rather hear music versus heading an interview show. Once they got to Carl’s apartment, he shut off the car and got out, he went straight to her door and opened it. “Here we are, home sweet home. My apartment is on the second floor there, do you see the patio there, it’s ours. I think we have a park here and there is a community pool that we all share. Do you swim at all, “asked Carl? “I haven’t been swimming in a long time, but I like it. Can we do that soon,” asked Myra. “I am sure we can, winter won’t be here for a few months and the pool will probably close down right before thanksgiving, so we have time,” replied Carl. They walked up the sidewalk to the apartment entrance and then walked up one flight of carpeted stairs. Carl got out his keys and unlocked the door. Myra walked in first and began looking around. “Wow this place is big,” said Myra astonished. “Three bedrooms, although one of them is my office for when I work from home. We will get the other bedroom set up for you tonight when Nate gets back here. Let me give you the grand tour,” said Carl proudly. He walked her through each room and showed here were important things were, the bathroom, and towel closet, garbage, kitchen and finally her bedroom. Myra just looked at everything with wide eyes. “Wow, you must be really rich,” said Myra. “I do okay, its just been me for a few years. I had a wife but we got divorced. Wouldn’t say I am rich, just comfortable,” replied Carl. “Now my brother Nate, he is rich. He has two kids and a huge house with a big back yard that backs up against the woods. We will go over there soon and you can meet his family and play around there. Are you hungry, lets get those sandwiches and watch some cartoons, “said Carl? He pulled out two plates and moved the coffee table closer to his sofa and turned on some classic cartoons. He also grabbed a couple of glasses and filed them with water because he didn’t have any milk or juice in the house. Myra sat on one end of the couch and cautiously started to eat her peanut butter and cheese sandwich. Carl began to tear into his Reuban and laughed at the TV. He looked over at Myra who was trying very hard to be neat which distracted her from the cartoons. “Myra, if we make a mess it is okay, we can clean it up and everything will be fine. I want you to enjoy yourself. I know it is going to be hard because all of this is new for you right now, but its new for me as well. If you make a mess or break anything by accident I am not going to yell. I’ll just help you clean up and that will be that. There is nothing in here that is to precious to break. Sit back relax and try to enjoy your sandwich and cartoons. On Saturday mornings I put on really old cartoons and sit down here with a bowl of cereal and do laundry and watch cartoons all day unless I head over to the coffee shop. Do you want to do that on Saturday,” asked Carl? “Will Cheryl be there,” asked Myra? “That is her usual day to work, we can double-check when she comes over tonight for dinner,” replied Carl. With that he noticed Myra relaxing a little bit more and she began taking in the cartoon. On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, after nearly a week of waiting for the results of the 2020 election, former Vice President Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election. As of the publication of this episode, President Trump has not yet conceded and has instead filed or intends to file a number of lawsuits against select swing states, claiming voter fraud and demanding recounts. On January 20th, 2021, it is expected that President Trump will leave the White House and return to life as a private citizen without certain protections and a loss of presidential immunity. A number of currently pending lawsuits and an investigation await the president after his departure from the office. For instance, New York City is specifically targeting President Trump and his business dealings with a criminal investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance. On Lawyer 2 Lawyer, host Craig Williams is joined by attorney David S. Weinstein, partner with the firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP to discuss the potential litigation that could follow President Trump after he leaves office. We will take a look at his current "immunity from prosecution" as president, the loss of presidential immunity, and what may be to come for private citizen Trump. On Saturday, major news networks called the Presidential election for Joe Biden after it became clear he had won the State of Pennsylvania. New Yorkers took to the streets to celebrate the defeat of President Donald Trump as much as to celebrate Biden’s victory. On tonight’s show, we’ll talk with NYC-DSA co-chair Chi Anunwa about Saturday's march as well as DSA’s organizing strategy under a Biden administration. We also have Ariadna Phillips from NYC-DSA’s Bronx Upper Manhattan Branch live with us to talk about DSA’s mutual aid work to feed South Bronx community members. The New York Times recently published an interview with Bronx and Queens congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after centrist democrats claimed leftist demands such as Medicare for All, a Green New Deal and defunding the police had caused the Democrats to lose races in swing states. We’ll talk with Ariadna about the necessity of such policies in her South Bronx community and more. (Nov 11, 2020) On Saturday, major news outlets projected the presidential race for Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris. It came after days of tense waiting. For some, it was devastating news. For others, it was joyous. Here in the North Country, republicans won big in almost all down-ballot races by significant margins. So here, conservative or liberal, the election results were a mixed bag.
On Saturday morning, I got the news that Biden has been elected president just as I was slipping into my kayak for a two-day kayaking and camping trip with friends—a trip that would take me out of cell range for most of the weekend. After hearing the news, I and my adventure-mates floated leisurely along beautiful Ichatucknee Springs—a unique, spring-fed river that eventually dropped us into the Santa Fe River in North Florida. If you haven’t yet experienced it, it deserves a spot on your Florida “must-do” list. The water was clear and cool, the temperature comfortable in the high 70’s, and brief, light rain that drizzled down upon us for a few minutes felt like a refreshing shower from heaven. It was a pretty spectacular day. That night, we camped on the banks of the Santa Fe, and then Sunday morning had our coffee around a campfire (one of my favorites things to do in life), before slipping back into our kayaks to continue our float downstream on the Santa Fe for another 9 miles, stopping along the way to visit and swim in some of the 15 natural springs we encountered along the way. That along with about half a dozen fun, little rapids kept that trip interesting and engaging on all levels. At one point as I drifted, allowing the river to nudge me downstream, I noticed that I was breathing easier and feeling more relaxed than I had in a very long time. Everyone we encountered, including people whizzing by in their motorboats, waved and seemed to be more relaxed. There was simply less of an edge. It felt like there was less friction in the air. I know I wasn’t the only one that noticed this because everybody in my party commented on it. Yet, as suspected, when I returned to cell range and checked in, the country seemed as divided as ever. And that brings me to the point of this blog. How is it that half of this country is in mourning and the other half is jubilant, feeling like we just dodged a major bullet? If we each, individually, don’t take the time to do our own inner work, embarking on a journey of self-discovery to understand who we are and why we think the way we do, we may always be a pawn in somebody else’s game. Because until we know what triggers us and what our blind spots are, how can we be sure we aren’t being played? That some person or idea outside of ourselves isn’t plucking our emotional strings, manipulating us for their own gains? While Biden may have won this election, what’s clear is the extent to which at least half of this country has been brainwashed. The question is, which half? I would venture to say the answer is both. At a very early age, we came into this worldwide open, pure love, innocence, and connection seeking to experience more of itself. Then, the world outside of us started telling us who we are, what to think, and “how the world works”. For most people, there was no urge for us to explore and discover who we are. We were TOLD. We were told by our teachers, our government, our religious leaders, our neighbors, our parents, the media… Not that they were necessarily doing this maliciously. They were just passing along the information that they had been given…the very same conditioning to which they had been exposed. So now we have a world of humans who have been taught what to think, and not how to think…FOR THEMSELVES. We all have our blind spots, so it’s easy to assume that it’s the other person who is brainwashed. That it’s the other person who’s wrong. That it’s the other person who doesn’t get it. But how can we be so sure? How can we be so cocky and arrogant to assume that we aren’t operating within a false narrative or construct of our own? First, I think what the situation calls for right now is humility—on ALL of our parts. It’s time for us to acknowledge that there are larger forces at play here, and their power is dependent upon getting us to believe in and follow them. (If you haven’t already checked out my podcast, Episode 36 on CULTS: How They Operate, it’s quite enlightening and worth a listen.) Second, this seems like a good time to talk about the 5 WAYS YOUR MIND IS BEING INFLUENCED every day. Specifically, your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is stronger than the conscious mind, and the subconscious mind is the emotional mind. It’s the part of the mind that gets emotionally triggered, and then the conscious mind tries to make sense out of that triggered feeling and comes up with a narrative, a story, a construct to help us do that. The human mind operating the way it does, it almost always comes up with a story that has us being right and the other being wrong. It’s the subconscious, emotional mind that is driving us. It’s driving our thoughts. It’s driving our emotions. It’s driving our behavior and our habits. It’s even driving our physical health, because every mental impression has a physical expression in the body. Think about that for a moment. Every single thought you have has a physical expression in your body. This could be muscles tightening, breath restricting, hands clenching, blood pressure raising. All of this takes place in the body (another way of putting this is that the body IS the subconscious mind), and the conscious mind is trying to make sense of it all. Due to the way our minds have been conditioned, we look for something to blame. That’s the way the human mind has been programmed to operate: “us” versus “them”, “right” versus “wrong”, perpetrator and victim. We almost always blame the other person. Unless your self-esteem is really, really low…then you might be more inclined to assume that you are wrong and the other person is right. But if somebody, even if you are somebody with low self-esteem, gives you a compelling enough story and reason to believe that the other person is to blame, that sure is a relief to our fragile human egos. So, in order to empower ourselves with self-knowledge, let’s look at the five ways that the human subconscious mind is conditioned (according to Charles Tebbets): 1. Repetition Given enough repetition, the subconscious mind eventually considers what it is hearing to be true. This could work for you, with positive affirmations and by choosing intentionally to what you expose your mind; and this could work against you if you are not aware of the repetitive messages being fed to you by political leaders, media outlets, religious leaders, and others with their own agendas in mind. 2. Identification with a group (or parent) We all want to belong. So when we find a group that has an appealing or similar viewpoint, it is easy to take it on fully as if it is our own. This phenomenon is known as “Groupthink”, and it’s what some refer to as the mob mentality—when individuals stop thinking as individuals and start thinking as one cohesive group. Again, as with everything else in life, this group identification doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. It could be a good thing, helping you move further into a lifestyle or mindset that you wish to adopt IF you ensure first that the values of the group truly align with your own personal values. OR, this could be a negative thing, if it causes you to jettison your values, and your ability to think for yourself, in favor of acceptance in and belonging to the group. 3. Ideas presented by authority figures (and from peer groups) We have been groomed from an early age to listen to the adults around us. Again, our teachers, religious leaders, government, politicians, parents, neighbors… The problem is, some of us never stopped following, and so it’s easy for someone with real OR PERCEIVED authority to get us to behave and think in a specific way. Until we stop and question authority, cultivating a healthy skepticism, we may never truly be capable of thinking for ourselves. 4. Intense emotion The subconscious mind is stronger than the conscious mind. It is also our emotional mind. So when we are experiencing intense emotion, the subconscious mind is wide open, taking in any messages that are being fed to it while it’s in that heightened emotional state. This is important to know. When emotion is flowing, the subconscious mind is wide open. If somebody can get you to feel sad, angry, or fearful, they can probably then get you to think and behave in a certain way. In other words, if they can hook you emotionally, they can probably get you to do just about anything. It’s wise to understand this about your own mind, so that you can be the “guard at your own gate”, using your healthy skepticism and your own independent mind to question the assumptions and beliefs being fed to you by others. Think about the winning formula of this scenario: A.) You have a person in authority, either real (he/she holds a high position—religious leader, political leader, etc.) or perceived (he or she appear to be successful at something and so, therefore, must know something we don’t; B.) Combined with a group of likeminded “followers” (again, religious or political groups, especially those with that same person of authority; C.) They use intense emotion to make you afraid, angry, suspicious, and closed to another leader, group or faction; D.) These leaders and groups stir up an emotional frenzy, using repetition as they share their messages over and over and over again until there is no longer any doubt in your mind. And you may have just been hooked. 5. Hypnosis Hypnosis is what happens when the conscious mind—the critical, analytic, thinking mind is bypassed, granting access to the subconscious mind. This is done through a variety of, including those mentioned above, but also by creating enough confusion, exhaustion, and overwhelm that the conscious mind simply gives up, allowing the subconscious to be wide open and accessible. There is a whole lot more I could say about all of this, but this is enough to illustrate the point that we are complex beings, and our minds are even more complex than many realize. It’s wise to know your own mind, how it operates, how it is influenced, so you can be empowered with this knowledge. So in the end, how do you know what’s driving you? How do you check in with yourself to find out if you’re reacting, thinking, and choosing from a triggered place? How do you know when you are “being a pawn” and playing out somebody else’s agenda, and when you are coming from a place of conscious consideration and intention? If we peel away the layers of all of the conditioning and programming to which we been exposed, what we are left with is the same authentic truth we came into this world as. That we are love, that we are one—with each other and with nature, and that we are all connected. What we do to others we do to ourselves. We really are all in this together. So when everything is convoluted and messy, when there’s conflict and strife all around, when the information is confusing and overwhelming, I like to check in with myself and ask myself these questions: What would Love do? Is this coming from love? Is this creating where connection and unity? Or is this fostering more isolation and separation? Does this put me in a position of dominating someone or something? Other people? Nature? Or does this put me in synchronistic harmony with those things? Are the words coming out of my mouth, the thoughts I’m thinking, and the feeling in my body in alignment with love, connection, empathy, and the understanding that we are all in this together. That we are, actually, one? As with anything else in life, it’s a choice. I don’t know about you, but I am choosing unity over division, love over hate, synchronicity with the environment rather than dominance over it, and faith in my fellow humans.
In spite of these setbacks, Mr Trump has continued to file lawsuits. On Saturday, his campaign said it had filed a lawsuit in Arizona claiming that potentially “thousands” of voters had been disenfranchised.

Joe Biden is the President-Elect of the United States. On Saturday, a batch of results from the swing state of Pennsylvania gave Biden a lead of over 30,000 votes on Trump – which was enough for the race to be called by all of the US networks. Brendan Boyle is a Democratic Member of Congress for Pennsylvania's 2nd Congressional District, and he told Kieran, on Monday's edition of The Hard Shoulder, why he's proud that Pennsylvania was part of making the Biden presidency a reality. Meanwhile, many supporters of Donald Trump still aren’t accepting that the fight for the Presidency is over. Alice Butler-Short, who is the founder of Virginia Women for Trump, also joined Kieran to tell him why she doesn't yet recognise Biden as the next President.
On this edition of Your Call, we're discussing what the election results reveal about the state of the country. On Saturday, Joseph Biden was elected the 46th president of the United States, but he didn't win by a landslide like many expected. Biden currently has over 75 million votes and Donald Trump has over 71 million.
On Saturday, November 7, Jake and I sat down to record our normal podcast. As it started, they called the election, so we talked about the Biden victory.
What. A. Weekend. On Saturday, I started a 24-hour charity marathon stream, the beginning of which was completely devoted to Notre Dame's gigantic matchup, and, ultimately, a victory, against the (former) #1 team in the land, Clemson. What I could have never expected was that the guests and segments that I would have during this stream would create a time capsule of one of the most extraordinary Saturdays in ND history. A huge thank you to all my guests and especially all the donors to my Extra Life campaign. As of this episode's release, you have helped me raise over $12,000 for the Blake Shelton Cancer Research Fund at the Children's Hospital Foundation of Oklahoma City in honor of Aven. While the marathon is done, donations are open until the end of the year via extralife.ndtex.com--I hear donations of $47.40 are particularly popular these days. As this is a very large (and will forever be ad-free) show, below are the timestamps for all segments. Apologies for some audio being rougher than usual as all recording was on the fly and I need to go be a virtual teacher for my kiddos! 3:17 - Tailgating with Ty Hildenbrandt of The Solid Verbal 44:18 - Pre-game Show with FFXIV Streamer and Clemson Fan, Mizzteq 1:08:26 - Halftime Show with Notre Dame, Our Blogger 1:22:44 - Postgame Show with Shane (aka the usual HLS Recap episode) --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/herloyalsons/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/herloyalsons/support

On Saturday we got word that Joe Biden was named the President-elect after projections had him winning the state of PA. Despite that fact there's still plenty of people on both sides rocking political signs on their lawns. Is it savage or sensible? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On Saturday, Joseph Robinette Biden or Joe Biden was elected the 46th President of the United States, and Senator Kamala Harris was elected the vice-president. In this episode, Karishma Mehrotra and Shubhajit Roy join us to talk about what led to Biden's win (and Donald Trump’s defeat), the factors that influenced the US election and what the results mean for India.
The stars and stripes have been fluttering all week on the streets of Ballina -- the town of just 10,000 in the west of Ireland where US president-elect Joe Biden's Irish ancestors hail from.Ten of the former vice president's 16 great-great-grandparents were born in Ireland, according to the Irish for Biden campaign, with Edward Blewitt, Biden's great-great-great-grandfather, providing the Ballina connection. On Saturday, as CNN projected Biden's White House win, Ballina residents came out to celebrate their distant kin's success."I think Ballina has saved the world tonight, because without Ballina, there would be no Joe Biden," Smiler Mitchell, a local publican, told CNN.Balloons were tied to cars and the crowd sang "The Green and Red of Mayo," a famous ballad about the county where Ballina is situated. One car with a cardboard cut out of Biden in the front seat had a license plate which read, "PENNSYLVANIA BIDEN #1."In the lead-up to the election, the community held a "Ridin' for Biden" event around the bridges crossing the River Moy with a carousel of cars passing the town's iconic cathedral and finishing in front of a mural of the man himself, erected in the town's main square."Ballina has always been an underdog town in the west of Ireland, which has had its own challenges in the past," said local politician Mark Duffy."Now we think it's our time to shine and put our best foot forward. We look forward to welcoming as many visitors from across the US and across the political divide."He noted that the town is in a beautiful part of the world, with lakes, mountains and urban forest in the surrounding area.Biden still has distant relatives in the town.Joe Blewitt, a third cousin, who has met the president-elect several times, said his namesake "is totally down to earth.""He's a family man," Blewitt told CNN by phone. But Ballina isn't the only Irish town with a Biden connection. On the opposite side of the country -- in Carlingford, County Louth -- a community pipe band was set to premiere an anthem for Biden at noon on Sunday.Biden's great-grandfather James Finnegan arrived in New York on the Marchioness of Bute ship in 1850 from Carlingford, a coastal town located about 70 miles north of Dublin. In honor of their most famous son's election win, Carlingford's local parish priest planned to ring the bells of the church with school children and members of the community in attendance.Paul Allen, the lead organizer of the Irish for Biden campaign, told CNN the town was overjoyed with the result."Joe Biden is a quintessential Irish American and it shows what a combination of hard work and determination can do," he said. The campaign had encouraged Irish people all over the world to phone a relative in America and ask them to vote for Biden."The nurse working in Chicago, the firefighter in Boston or the policeman in New York, the construction worker building America; that's the Irish American connection," Allen added. The Carlingford community hosted Biden in 2016 and in advance of his visit, he wrote a letter which said: "Northeast Pennsylvania will be written on my heart. But Ireland will be written on my soul."Ireland's Taoiseach, or prime minister, Micheál Martin was one of the first world leaders to congratulate Biden on his victory Saturday.Back over in Ballina, more celebrations were expected on Sunday. The town, twinned with Scranton, Pennsylvania, is also home to Ireland's first woman president, Mary Robinson, who was elected 30 years ago to the day on Saturday."Her message was one of hope and a light in the window for the diaspora," said politician Mark Duffy. "...30 years later to the day, one of the descendants of our diaspora, who would have left Ballina in such a dark and bleak time for Irish history, has gone on to hold the highest office in the land."text by Eoin McSweeney, CNN
Biden supporters erupted in celebration across the country on Saturday, after it was announced that the former Vice President won Pennsylvania. Soon after, Biden also won Nevada, reaching 290 electoral votes.Joe Biden is now the president-elect. He and Senator Kamala Harris will become President and Vice President of the United States on January 20, 2021.On this episode, we're looking ahead to the next two-a-half-months, because many Americans still have questions about what happens next.Trump supporters remain defiant. They say — without evidence — that Biden "stole the election." USA TODAY Politics 2020 Editor Annah Aschbrenner joins host Claire Thornton to discuss how Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election with room to spare, and explains what elections results we're still waiting for. They also talk about Trump's election lawsuits and his aversion to accepting defeat. On Saturday night, president-election Biden and vice president-elect Harris addressed the nation in their acceptance speeches from Wilmington, Delaware, where they emphasized that America must now focus on healing and unity. You can keep up with the most recent election updates at usatoday.com/politics.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly said there's one place he wants to determine the outcome of the presidential election: the U.S. Supreme Court. But he may have a difficult time ever getting there. The Associated Press called the presidential race for Joe Biden on Saturday morning. Trump, however, has over the last few days leaned in to the idea that the high court should get involved in the election as it did in 2000, and there were no signs Saturday he was ready to concede."Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated," Trump said in a statement. In 2000, the Supreme Court effectively settled the contested election for President George W. Bush in a 5-4 decision that split the court's liberals and conservatives. Today, six members of the court are conservatives, including three nominated by Trump. But this year's election seems to be shaping up very differently from 2000, when Florida's electoral votes delivered the presidency to Bush. Then, Bush led in Florida and went to court to stop a recount. Trump has suggested a strategy that would focus on multiple states where the winning margins appear to be slim. But to overturn the election result, Trump would appear to have to persuade courts, including perhaps the Supreme Court to set aside votes in two or more states.Chief Justice John Roberts, for his part, is not likely to want the election to come down to himself and his colleagues. Roberts, who was not on the court for Bush v. Gore in 2000 but was a lawyer for Bush, has often tried to distance the court from the political branches of government and the politics he thinks could hurt the court's reputation. It's also not clear what legal issues might cause the justices to step in. Trump has made repeated, unsubstantiated claims of election fraud. On Saturday, Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani pressed claims that so-called poll watchers, who observe as ballots are counted, were not allowed to get close enough to witness counting.Still, Trump has focused on the high court. In the early morning hours following Election Day he said: "We'll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court — we want all voting to stop." And on Thursday, as Biden inched closer to the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House, Trump again told Americans, "It's going to end up, perhaps, at the highest court in the land, we'll see." On Twitter too he urged, "U.S. Supreme Court should decide!"There is currently one election case at the Supreme Court and it involves a Republican appeal to exclude ballots that arrived after Election Day in Pennsylvania. But whether or not those ballots ultimately are counted seems irrelevant.Ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day were a small fragment of the total vote count. Across Pennsylvania, counties reported receiving under 8,000 late mail-in ballots, though some were still assessing how many they had. Biden's lead over Trump by Saturday afternoon was more than 30,000 votes.Still, Trump's campaign is trying to intervene in the case, an appeal of a decision by Pennsylvania's highest court to allow three extra days for the receipt and counting of mailed ballots. Because the case is ongoing, those ballots are being separated but counted.Beyond the Pennsylvania case, if Trump wanted to use a lawsuit to challenge the election outcome in a state, he'd need to begin by bringing a case in a lower court. So far, Trump's campaign and Republicans have mounted legal challenges in several states, but most are small-scale lawsuits that do not appear to affect many votes. On Thursday, the Trump campaign won an appellate ruling to get party and campaign observers closer to election workers who are processing mail-in ballots in Philadelphia. But judges in Georgia and Michigan quickly dismissed two other campaign lawsuits Thursday.Biden's campaign, meanwhile, has called the existing lawsuits meritless, more po...
NewstalkZB.co.nz has been using data from the Associated Press for our US Election Results. Here, the Associated Press explains why they called the election for Joe Biden:As Election Day ground on into "election week," it became increasingly clear that Democrat Joe Biden would oust President Donald Trump from the White House. Late-counted ballots in Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia continued to keep Biden in the lead and offered him multiple paths to victory. The questions, rather, were these — where he would win, when it would happen and by how much.On Saturday, Biden captured the presidency when The Associated Press declared him the victor in his native Pennsylvania at 11:25 a.m. EST. That got him the state's 20 electoral votes, which pushed him over the 270 electoral-vote threshold needed to prevail. It was the final piece to fall into place after the former vice president carved a path to the White House by recapturing Democrats' "blue wall," a trio of Great Lakes states — Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan — that Trump narrowly won in 2016. Those states had long served as a bulwark against Republican presidential candidates. But he also made historic gains in the Sun Belt, becoming the first Democrat to win Arizona since 1996. He also held a narrow lead of more than 7,000 votes on Saturday in Georgia, where a Democrat hasn't won since 1992.Democrats entered Election Day confident that Biden would win. But their hopes for a landslide that would quickly repudiate Trumpism — something that polls helped amplify — did not materialize.Florida, the president's adopted state and one of the largest electoral prizes, went for Trump on Tuesday. And a promising early Biden lead in North Carolina eroded. Trump continues to hold a narrow lead there, though the race is still too early to call and mail in ballots postmarked by the Nov. 3 election day can still be counted until Thursday. On Election Night, both candidates stacked up wins in predictable places. Biden won the West Coast, and carried Democratic states in New England and the mid Atlantic. Trump won much of the South, Texas and rural, sparsely populated states in the Mountain West and Midwest.Biden's win in Pennsylvania was a dramatic, though not unexpected, turn after Trump jumped out to an early Election Day lead of 675,000 votes and prematurely declared he had won the state.Overcoming days, as local elections officials tabulated more ballots, Trump's lead dropped sharply, with Biden winning roughly 75 percent of the mail-in vote between Wednesday and Friday, according to an analysis by the AP.Another reason the late-breaking mail vote broke Biden's way: Under state law, elections officials are not allowed to process mail-in ballots until Election Day.By Saturday afternoon, Biden's lead in the state had climbed to over 34,000 votes, an edge over Trump of 0.51 percentage points that placed him outside the margin for a mandatory recount.Under Pennsylvania law, a recount is automatic when the margin between two candidates in a statewide race is less than 0.5 percentage points. Biden's lead over Trump was on track to stay outside of that margin as final votes are counted. And the slow-going nature of the vote count? Blame the coronavirus pandemic. The election, in many ways a referendum on Trump's poor management of the virus, led to widespread use of mail voting for the first time in many states.Though five states conducted elections by mail before the pandemic, most did not. Concern that voters could catch the virus by waiting in line at crowded polling sites led election officials across the U.S. to scramble to quickly adopt the voting practice. But mail ballots also take a long time to verify, process and count, delaying the tally.Trump, who refused Saturday to concede the race, prematurely declared victory during a news conference at the White House early Wednesday morning, arguing that he was ahead and "it's not like, 'Oh, it's close.'"But as mail bal...

It is followed by the all-mode 432MHz UK Activity Contest from 2000 to 2230UTC. The exchange is the same for both: signal report, serial number and locator. On Wednesday the Autumn Series runs from 2000 to 2130UTC using SSB on the 3.5MHz band. The exchange is signal report and serial number. Thursday sees the 50MHz UK Activity Contest taking place from 2000 to 2230UTC. Using all modes, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. On Saturday the 14th, the Club Calls contest runs from 2000 to 2300UTC. Using SSB and CW on the 1.8MHz band, the exchange is signal report, serial number and your club information. Next weekend, the WAE DX RTTY contest runs from 0000UTC on the 14th to 2359UTC on the 15th. Using the 3.5 to 28MHz contest bands, the exchange is signal report and serial number. On Sunday the 15th, the UK Microwave group’s Low Band contest runs from 1000 to 1400UTC. Using the 1.3 to 3.4GHz bands, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA and G4BAO on Friday the 6th of November. Sunspots are a bit like buses. You wait forever and three come along at once! Last week we had active regions 2778 and 2779, which pushed the solar flux index up to 88. This week we have sunspot region 2781, which is a monster. At the time of writing, this region had pushed the SFI to 88 again, but it has been active in terms of solar flares. These have been minor C-class events, so not too much to worry about. The good news is that geomagnetic conditions have been very settled over the past week, with the Kp index running between zero and two. This no doubt helped ionospheric propagation. There was some good DX reported over the past seven days. TX0T, the DXpedition to Tatakoto Atoll, OC-298, in French Polynesia, has been worked by several stations in the UK. The Far East has also been workable, especially on FT8, where Indonesia, China and Japan have all been spotted. Next week, NOAA predicts the SFI will be in the range 72-76. The good news is that geomagnetic conditions are predicted to be quiet with a maximum Kp index of two. We may get some radio blackouts or sudden ionospheric disturbances as a result of M- or C-class solar flares from active region 2781, but these are difficult to predict. Radio blackouts occur when the strong, sudden burst of X-rays from a solar flare hits the Earth's atmosphere, blocking high-frequency radio signals in the D-region of the ionosphere. NOAA puts the probability of an R1/R2 radio blackout at 15%, and an R3 radio blackout at just 5%. Overall then, it looks like a good week for HF propagation. And now the VHF and up propagation news. There was a brief return of Tropo at the end of the last week. The first of this autumn’s opportunities was complete with fog below the inversion layer. Unfortunately, the related high and its Tropo is not due to last and indeed will have probably moved away during the weekend. It does, though, show the capability of a good temperature inversion with foggy air trapped below it to produce good Tropo. The last vestiges of it are now clearing away across the northern North Sea, but may still be just worth exploring for the 48th Marconi Memorial VHF CW Contest on Sunday. During the weekend, the weather pattern changes to a more unsettled type, which remains dominant through the coming week. This will bring GHz band rain scatter, but also some strong winds at times. As we approach the Leonids meteor shower on the 17th we also have a smaller shower, the Northern Taurids, peaking this Thursday, so meteor scatter conditions should be above average. It is also worth the occasional check for Sporadic-E on FT8 on 10m and 6m. The Moon’s declination is high but starting to fall, going negative on Thursday, so Moon visibility windows will shorten. The Moon is at perigee next Saturday so path losses are low. 144MHz sky noise is low for most of the week. And that’s all from the propagation team this week.
