Tesla is famous for throwing caution to the wind in the name of rolling out cool technology, so it was somewhat surprising to see its robotaxi service launch over the weekend in somewhat muted fashion. The Verge's Andy Hawkins joins the show to explain what, exactly, Elon Musk and co. launched, and what it says about the state of the self-driving revolution. After that, The Verge's Allison Johnson takes us through the history of MVNOs, and why they might just be the best deal in wireless carriers. We talk about Trump Mobile, Ryan Reynolds, e-SIMs, and what it would mean to make it easier to switch service. Finally, we answer a question from the Vergecast Hotline about how to free up storage on your iPhone. It's harder than it should be, but hopefully easier than you think. In 1968, six-year-old Andrew Basiago stepped through Tesla's teleportation device and emerged at Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address in 1863. He was part of Project Pegasus, DARPA's classified program using technology reverse-engineered from Tesla's confiscated research. The program began after Sputnik shocked America into creating DARPA to prevent technological surprises. When scientists rediscovered Tesla's stolen files, they found blueprints for a teleportation machine that could bend space and time using zero-point energy. Adult test subjects either vanished, aged rapidly, or arrived in pieces across different moments. Only children's flexible minds could handle temporal displacement, so DARPA recruited 140 young "chrononauts" for missions throughout history. By 1980, the technology evolved to transport people to Mars, where Basiago claims he served alongside Barry Soetoro - later known as Barack Obama. But the program unlocked more than time travel - it opened doorways to infinite parallel realities that the government desperately tries to keep hidden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCjo9KBpK9I SOURCES & LINKS Tesla's Stolen Tech and the New Arms Race: • Weather Weapons & Worse | Tesla's Stolen T... Today we discuss how Iran's staged response to US bombings mostly crushed the geopolitical tension premium in crude oil and gave a big boost to global risk sentiment, which also enjoyed another Fed member waxing dovish, sending US yields lower. Midnight Hammer was carried out with precision and force over the weekend as three nuclear sites in Iran are obliterated. It was overwhelming strong and safe for our pilots and the remarkable sailors on a submarine 400 miles away undetected. Our men and women at Whiteman Air Force Base were flawless carrying out this mission and we couldn't be prouder the Show Me state produced a Show Stopper for the ages. This is America First. The young person that set a pair of Teslas on fire in KC is looking at real prison time and that has the KC Star's panties in a wad. These are the same people that praised locking up old ladies that walked into the capitol building to take a picture and walking out on January 6. Imagine that. The Royals were winning a classic low scoring game on Sunday, their specialty, before they let it slip away. It's exactly the kind of game this team has to win almost every time they get the chance. The NBA Finals were set up for a dramatic game 7 when a devastating injury to Indiana's star player in the first quarter put a damper on things. LSU wins the College World Series, Simone Biles has had it with social media and golfer Keegan Bradley wins and creates a Ryder Cup dilemma for himself as he's the team captain.

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1077: Today we're talking about Stellantis' cautious leadership shuffle, Tesla's Robotaxi rollout with safety monitors in the passenger seat, and how AI is quietly shaping the way we talk—even if we don't realize it.Antonio Filosa officially begins his tenure as Stellantis CEO, opting for continuity over disruption by retaining his North America role and promoting from within—a move that left investors wanting more.Filosa will remain based in Detroit and continue overseeing North America to stabilize performance in Stellantis' most troubled region. He trimmed direct reports to 16, down from 33 under Tavares, signaling a leaner leadership model.Key appointments include Scott Thiele as head of supply chain and Monica Genovese as head of purchasing, while all 14 brand chiefs—including Jeep, Fiat, and Maserati—stay in place.Stellantis shares are down 10% since his May appointment.Jefferies analysts dryly noted the split role “suggests that revamping Stellantis may not be a full-time job.”Tesla has officially launched its Robotaxi pilot in Austin, offering driverless rides to a select group of superfans. While early impressions are mostly positive, the rollout wasn't without its quirks—or a couple concerning errors.Service is live in a ~30-square-mile geofenced area of South Austin with limited weather, time, and destination constraints. There's a human “safety monitor” in the passenger seat with emergency controls—and remote teleoperators on standby.Notable fails include one vehicle veering into an oncoming lane mid-turn and another stopping mid-intersection to let out a passenger.Riders must use a separate “Robotaxi” app, distributed via Apple's TestFlight, but noted seamless syncing of personal Tesla profiles (like music) and a smooth ride experience on par with, or better than, current FSD builds.Content creator Chuck Cook praised the performance: “Quite advanced behavior… a more confident parking job than I've personally encountered in a Waymo.”As AI tools like ChatGPT increasingly shape our digital interactions, researchers are now tracking how those patterns are bleeding into how we actually talk with some surprising, and maybe unsettling, results. In academic YouTube videos, usage of words like “delve” and “adept” has jumped over 50% since ChatGPT's release.Spoken language is becoming more structured and emotionally muted—mirroring AI's formal tone.Researchers warn this shift erodes the authentic signals we use in speech, like stumbles and slang, which build human connection. The influence of “correct” AI-generated English is crowding out regional dialects, affecting who sounds credible in public discourse.“Delve is only the tip of the iceberg,” says Max Planck reseaJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

In this week's episode, Trump delays the TikTok ban for the third time—because procrastination is the new policy—and Twitter's old sign finds new purpose as desert firewood. Tesla continues its streak of “hold my beer” engineering by blowing past a school bus in FSD tests, then mysteriously dumps Cybertrucks in Jersey parking lots while prepping a July 4th factory nap. If he hits 200% of the targets, it will be as high as $30mn, the company said on Monday. However, the bulk of Zaslav's future pay will be based on stock options after shareholders rebuked a model based on free cash flow generation. The securities filing made late on Monday said the beleaguered media boss would receive about 24mn in WBD shares that could be purchased for the current $10.16 price. If the share price were to double, the package could eventually be worth nearly $250mn.Two weeks after 60% of Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders rejected CEO David Zaslav's $52M pay plan, the Compensation Committee restructured his plan using Hollywood's latest CGI, special effects, and most seasoned stunt doubles: his new plan reduces his annual pay targets significantly–from $37M to $17M if he hits 100% of his targets–but the devil is in the details as he is eligible for $37M if he reaches 200% of his targets and is getting a massive option grant of 21 million shares at an extremely low strike price of around $10 per share, giving him the theoretical opportunity to make $1.4B if Warner Brothers' share price regains its 2021 high of $77.Boeing's longest-tenured director Lynn Good joins the Board of Morgan Stanley just two days after the crash of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in India killed more than 200 people.Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky says his company is a 'convenient scapegoat' as European cities protest overtourism“In Barcelona, housing prices rose 60% over the past decade, but Airbnb listings actually decreased.
