Keeping us at that five stars and giving back has been really, really beneficial. And then we're able to rank higher on the dental. When people search for dental podcasts, we're able to rank higher and help and serve more people. With that said guys, I want to talk about why as teams and owners, it's important for you to set goals for you. That's right. I think oftentimes we get so obsessed with setting goals for our practice that we forget that it's okay to set goals for the life that we want to have, for the life and the practice that we want to have. Not the one that we think we should have, but the one we genuinely want to have. What happens with that is so often I was actually just talking to a doctor and he said, you know, I really, really, really want to have where I only work three days a week. but I'm concerned that that's going to impact the team's goals of being able to grow and produce more since I'm such a strong producer. Okay. Number one, kudos to this doctor for loving on his team so much that he wanted to make sure his team was successful. Also with that said, I have found that when you are setting goals for yourself personally, you're much happier and you want to work harder. And also docs, if you just tell us what your goal is, we as team members get to become insanely. Yep. You got it. innovative. So we get to come up with it like this office. The office manager said, Hey, that's fine if you want to do this, because guess what? That gives us an opportunity to come up with different ways to change our insurances, to look for ways making sure that we have our fees exactly where they actually should be. It's going to eliminate patients who don't want to be paying for the services that we're offering. I love that this office manager took it on as a challenge. of how she could actually reach the goals that the practice is set while also reaching the goals that the doctor had for themselves. So for you guys, it's really that thought process of how can we actually achieve the goals that we want? Want? Yes, I said it, want. I want you to achieve the goals that you want. ⁓ And so with that said, making sure that you're setting goals for you. Now, sometimes I think that we feel selfish. We feel like, well, who am I to deserve this? But the answer is you're a person. You're a person of worth. You're a person who actually deserves to have the life you want if you want to have it. Or you can sit in a victim mentality and say, well, this is just the life it's going to be and I have to do this and I have to do that. Well, fantastic. You're welcome to stay in that mindset, but that's actually not true. You don't have to do anything. You get to choose the state of life you live in. You get to choose the state of being that you come to work every day in. You get to choose those things. Those are things that you have full control over. You also get to determine the goals that your practice sets together. Doesn't mean you'll necessarily reach them, but guess what? You get to set that. You do. You do. And so because of that, make sure that you actually are setting goals that you want to achieve. And don't worry about being selfish. We often have these stories in our head that aren't real. Guys, if you're a doctor who only wants to work two days a week, Please just say that. Say that because that way we can actually work and create something. We could hire an associate. We could do a lot of different things for you. We just need to know what you actually want. So I recommend setting three personal goals and three professional goals. Yes, tis the season guys for goal setting. I'm obsessed with it. I was just talking with my younger sister and she said, Kiera, I don't know how you have so much passion for setting goals. So if you feel that way too, that's okay. ⁓ but my little sister also told me a few days later, said, Kiera, you ignite thoughts in my mind. You make me think of, should start setting goals. I want to set goals. What am I doing? And she said, so by you saying this, you're actually giving back on such a greater level because she said for me, I don't think like that, but you do. And so if I can actually benefit from listening to you and hearing your passion, I'm then able to set and create goals as well. When that's something that I just don't even think about often. And I loved that. So I thought, okay, let's talk about this, but really getting into the nitty gritty of being okay, setting personal goals ⁓ of what you really want. So number one, I set three personal and three professional goals every single year at a minimum. This last year I had five of the five, I hit four of the five. The only one I didn't have hit was having a baby. ⁓ we can't get pregnant guys. And it's so irritating to me, but I probably shouldn't have set a goal around something I really don't have full control over. So, ⁓ but beyond that, I did hit all the goals that we have and it's actually pushing us to go and start on a journey of IVF. If any of you have tips on that, please email me personally guys, it's not professional. Hello@TheDentalATeam.com. I'm super excited. That's our 2022 journey. ⁓ The bottom line is setting those goals. So because I had a goal of having a baby last year, guys, and even though I didn't, ⁓ It forced me to think of the company differently. It forced me to have our entire company work on getting our SOP manual done, of having people learn to run the business so it wasn't completely dependent on me, of getting it more internal and having a team that could do this for me versus it being dependent on me all the time. It was one of the best goals that I set because it forced the company to innovate, create, and go into a different realm than it's ever been before. So that's why it's a paramount, guys. I hope I'm like drilling this into you to set goals that you actually want. Now, what do you do if you don't know what you Well, let's just go do a dream session. All right. Let's have you go just dream and imagine of anything and everything you've ever kind of even wanted. I'm talking like silly things. Like I've wanted to have a home cooked meal every day. Like silly things. Because what it will do is it will start to generate. an activity that I did that you guys can try is I'm going to give you three minutes, one sheet of paper, only one sided. Yes, you heard right. One sided. You can't write on the backside, only the front side. It has to be at eight and a half by eleven. I can see you guys getting huge poster boards, you overachievers. You got three minutes. You can even do it faster. Do it on two minutes. Set that timer for two minutes. Anything that's written on this paper, you will achieve. If it's not written on this paper, you will not get it for the rest of your life. Yeah, I just made that real serious. The rest of your life. Okay. So it's forcing you to think, I will only get these things if they're written on this piece of paper and I have two minutes to write down what I actually want in life. I don't care if they are materialistic. I don't care if they're relationship. I don't care what the heck they are, but you have two minutes and you get nothing else on this list for the rest of your life. That's a really good way to get you guys to think about what you actually want in your life. Okay, try it out. Then after that, go around and write one three or 10 years next to this. What is it going to be? Are you going to achieve this in one year, three year, five year, 10 year? Because some of those goals might take a little longer to achieve, but that's a great way to really see what do you actually want. Again, like really play by this. If this is all you are going to get for the rest of your life, the rest of your life, some of you might have a few years left. Some of you might have less time. or more time, but this is all you're going to get. That's how you can start to see like, do you actually really want in your life? And then from there, that's how we can start to create these personal goals. I write silly goals. I write awesome goals. I write goals. you guys, every year I get better and better and better at this. I haven't always been good at it I don't think I'm great at it today. I just think I'm willing to consistently do this year over year over year. But I write things that I actually want. This last year. You guys, I love to have savings accounts. You can ask Jason. I've got about like 12. My bookkeeper hates me. Not like hates, hates, but just drives him nuts. And I've got so many bank accounts, but I like to have these because they give me security. I've got my company bam. I've got my personal bam. I've got a fun from traveling. I've got a fun for my house decorations. Like I get crazy guys, but it gives me security. And so I oftentimes will write goals around how much money I want to have in my savings accounts. Guess what? Every year I hit these goals. I write goals. I love cars. love fast cars. I did just buy a Tesla Model 3 performance. So zero to 60 in three seconds guys. And I freaking love it. It's so fun. I love fast cars. So oftentimes I write goals around cars. I also this year my goal is to be in the best shape of my life. So I hired an in-house chef. Guys it's actually cheaper than going grocery shopping. Just so you know I did the math on it. It is cheaper. than grocery shopping to have an in-house chef. I don't know how I found this guy, but it was something that I wanted to have. So I'm hiring somebody. They're going to come cook for me one day a week. They make me three meals with eight servings each. That's 24 meals for me and my husband. They will put it into containers for me. Bada bing, bada boom. I've got dinner, lunch for an entire week and they come in once a week and they go grocery shopping for me. And it's cheaper than if I were to do my own grocery shopping. So things like that. I want to be in the best shape of my life. You guys, I'm terrible. I love to cook. I just don't make the time for it. And then when I do cook, I go to, it's too quote unquote hard for me right now to eat healthy meals. So I said, okay, if I'm going to be in the best shape of my life, what do I need to do about it? So those are some fun goals that I do just so you guys know, I have a goal to not work Mondays and Fridays. I love to have Fridays as my own personal day to do Kiera's things. Monday, I love it to be business dream day. that's not quote unquote work. I just don't want to be scheduled in meetings. I want to have a day where I can dream about the business. And if I want to work, I can. And I can start when I want to start. And I don't have meetings that are scheduled. That's something I want to do. So writing those things, being OK to say the things that you actually want to have. ⁓ In years past, it was that I wanted to travel out of the country one or two times. This next year, it's probably going to be that I have at least four weeks off throughout the year where I can actually just go on vacation with my husband and we can go have a great time. Whatever it is guys, you can create these goals. So really making sure that you write your personal goals. Then you go to your professional goals. Notice I do personal and then professional. Reason being is because if I take care of me, it's just like on an airplane guys, you got to put your oxygen mask on you first. Then you find a way to create it within the business. If you're clear of the life that you want to have, if you're clear about who you want to be, and this goes for owners and team members, guys, this is not just reserved for owners. This is reserved for everybody. Everybody, everybody can have this, you guys, every single person. So with that said, you guys then go to professional. If you want to have this life, what needs to happen professionally? What are the growth goals that the company needs to have? Now you might need to scale it back. It might be unrealistic for you to take four weeks off this year. Maybe it's that we start this year at two weeks and then next year we go four weeks. Just know because you write it down, it does not mean it's written in stone. It can be adaptable. One of my new values that I've created for myself is flexibility. Cause I was like, no, I said four weeks, I will find a way for four weeks. Well, flexibility can really change my life. It can help me be happier and more content with it out of being as hard. So giving myself that permission to have flexibility is something that I really valued. And so. Maybe I'm gonna change it. Maybe two weeks is still gonna give me that excitement and that happiness. But being able to start working towards the life I wanna have. I'll tell you guys, three years ago, I said I wanted the company independent of me. Took me three years, guys. And the only way we were able to actually find out if it was is because I got COVID and I was out for a week. Like down for the count. My head was spinning like a top with helium in there. Like that's literally how I described it. I couldn't do emails. I was stuck in New York. It was crazy. Tiffanie was doing presentations for me. Sissy was running the podcast. Shelbi was running all the meetings. People were talking to sponsors for me. I wasn't around. I wasn't creating content. The other consultants have started to do podcasts where we get consultants information so you guys can hear from a different perspective. Like those were innovative things. Innovative things that took me three years to actually achieve. So don't be afraid if these things don't get done right away. But the biggest piece I wanted to drive home is Be okay setting goals for you. Be okay taking care of you. You've worked hard. You deserve it. You guys trust me. feel selfish often. And then I started thinking, I'm willing to give everybody else their dream life. I care about my team members and I hear about what they want and I work really, really hard to create the life that they want to have. How come I can't be a great employer to myself? How come I don't care about myself as much? How come I don't allow myself the opportunity to succeed and win. Guys, I bust my buns. Why am I not a good employer to myself? I've thought about it. If I was an employee for myself or let me rephrase that. If I was an employee for somebody else who treated me like I do myself, I would probably quit. Think about that. How do you treat yourself? You probably work sunup to sundown. You probably don't get many vacations. So many of you called me during the holiday season, which I freaking loved. It like just fuels my fire. I love talking to you guys. We all get, we all get jittery. We don't know what to do ourselves with that much time off. We, we love to create. We love to work. We love to do these things. So we're like, how can I improve the business? Well, let's work on that. But just think if you worked for somebody else and they had you do that, you'd be livid. But that's how we treat ourselves. So I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying be okay to also treat yourself really well. Be okay to invest in yourself. Be okay to maybe spin the coin and say, hey, if I was truly an employee in this company and I was interviewing myself and I was caring about the goals and aspirations I have, what would I do for myself? How would I do it a little bit differently? How would I view me? Could I maybe show a little more kindness? Cause guess what? The kindness you show yourself, the investment you show yourself is the same investment you give your team. Don't fool yourself. Guys, the kinder I've been to myself, the more giving I've been to my team, shockingly. The more I'm in sync with the life I want to live, the happier I am, and the more my team supports it. It's shocking, guys, because guess what? My team loves me. They want me to have an awesome life. They want me to be successful. They want me to have a family. Sometimes it's okay to accept that people love us. It's okay. to accept that people want us to live our dream lives. It's okay to not want to work in the practice clinically every single day. Those are not wrong things. That's progression. That's growth. If you're not growing, you're dying. So be okay to set those goals. So I want you guys to take this, whatever stuck out to you in this podcast, I want you to go act on it today, not tomorrow, not in five days. I want you to grab a pen or a pencil, grab your phone, whatever you need to do, but write down, what are you going to do for yourself? Are you going to write personal goals? Are you going to be kinder? Are you going to actually treat yourself like an employee and answer those same questions? What are your one, three, five, 10 year goals? Who do you want to become? Because guess what? You as an owner need to be growing and progressing just like your team does. You need to be investing in your success just like you do your team. And I will promise you your life, your relationships, your health, and your work life will all change for the better when you take care of you. So guys, this is Kiera just giving you a big hug, high five, whatever you choose to receive of, it's okay. I want to give you permission, permission to live your best life, permission to be kind to yourself, permission to be crazy, permission to just live full out, permission to go off the rails, permission to be crazy. Guys, it was downright crazy to buy a Tesla. Do you know how much fun it is? Do you know how much I giggle? Going zero to 60, turning on Santa's sleigh and spreading holiday cheer? laughing with my family, letting all of them drive it, going 115 miles an hour. shouldn't say that. Any of you cops, I did it, guys. It was so fun. I can't wait to take it to the racetracks. I can't wait to do these things. It's so fun. Is it any smart? No, but guess what, guys? I could die tomorrow. I'm not saying be crazy. I'm just saying make sure you're living and you're not waiting to live. All right, guys, as always, thank you so much for listening. I'm cheering you on. If I can ever be a help. If I can coach you on these things personally or professionally, please reach out. I'd love to. This is what I geek out over and it just fuels my fire because if I can help you live your dream life while being profitable, while growing your teams and your systems, guess what? 241 Welcome back to Tailoring Talk Magazine and the first episode of Season 15.In this long-overdue return, Roberto, Alex and Jon sit down for an honest conversation about electric vehicles, real ownership experiences and whether switching from petrol to electric actually makes sense in the real world.Roberto opens with a confession: after years of saying he'd never own an EV, he's now seriously considering selling his BMW M2 and making the switch. From there, the conversation explores the realities of EV ownership, including range anxiety, charging, running costs, practicality and how different lifestyles change what makes a good car.Rather than reviewing cars or reading spec sheets, this episode focuses on real-world use, real budgets, and what each of us would actually buy with our own money. In this episode• Why Roberto is reconsidering electric cars after years of resisting them• Alex's long-term experience living with EVs and what he'd change next• Jon's experience with EV ownership, hybrids and reliability challenges• Range anxiety – myth or real problem?• Charging at home vs public charging• How lifestyle and driving habits change what car makes sense• Running costs and the reality of EV ownership day-to-day• The cars we're currently considering buying• Family EVs vs performance EVs vs city cars• What we'd each choose if we had to decide tomorrowThe discussion also covers several popular electric cars currently on the market, including models from Tesla, Hyundai, BMW, Volkswagen, Kia and others as the team compares range, practicality and real-world usability.Timestamps00:00 – Intro and confession: from petrolhead to considering EVs02:25 – Why this episode: honest conversation, no reviews or spec sheets03:10 – Why Roberto's M2 isn't getting used and how this conversation started 04:50 – Alex's EV journey and living with a Polestar 08:50 – Jon's EV history, Nissan issues and going electric again 10:50 – Roberto's Hyundai IONIQ 6 experience and dealership problems13:10 – Realisation: why EVs make sense for city driving15:40 – Running costs, practicality and daily usage20:30 – Range anxiety: myth vs reality and how charging actually works 29:40 – Different lifestyles, commuting and choosing the right EV30:40 – Roberto test driving EVs and reconsidering his stance31:30 – Home charging, solar, and real-world running costs 33:15 – Alex's criteria for his next EV (road trips, range, usability)37:55 – Roberto presents EV shortlist for Alex38:00 – Tesla Model 3 discussion46:00 – Volkswagen, BMW, Hyundai and Kia comparisons 49:30 – Counter suggestions and alternative EV options50:10 – Jon's shortlist and priorities for a family EV 01:13:50 – Roberto's current thinking about replacing the M2 01:22:20 – Options, trims and spec pricing discussion01:23:45 – Final thoughts: where each of us stands on EVs 01:25:40 – Outro and wrap-upKey themesOne of the biggest takeaways from this conversation is that there's no single “best” EV.The right choice depends on how you actually use your car, whether you can charge at home, how far you regularly travel, and what matters most: comfort, range, driving experience or practicality. The episode also highlights how quickly EV technology and infrastructure have evolved in recent years, changing the ownership experience significantly compared with earlier electric cars.Listen if you are:• Thinking about buying your first electric car• Curious about real EV ownership rather than marketing claims• A petrolhead wondering whether electric cars are worth considering• Interested in cars, technology and honest conversationsAbout Tailoring Talk MagazineTailoring Talk Magazine is a podcast about style, technology, cars, culture and the things that make modern life interesting, hosted by Roberto Revilla with co-hosts Alex Hansford and Jon Evans.Follow and SubscribeIf you enjoyed this episode, follow the podcast and share it with someone who's thinking about going electric. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week on Autonomy Markets, Grayson Brulte and Walter Piecyk are joined by their first-ever guest, David Moss, to discuss his 12,961-mile zero-intervention drive across the country on Tesla FSD, the reality of the Unsupervised Robotaxi rollout in Austin, and the commercial viability of LiDAR sensors in consumer vehicles. The conversation heats up as Walt questions David, a LiDAR LiDAR Salesman on whether the massive data processing requirements of LiDAR could introduce latency, potentially citing a recent Waymo incident involving a child as a case study. David argues that while LiDAR offers theoretical range advantages, the compute wall and cost constraints make it a one-trick pony compared to the scalability of a vision-only stack. While the group debates sensor suites, David shares his on-the-ground experience in Austin, revealing it took 58 attempts to finally secure a ride in a Unsupervised Tesla Robotaxi, and confirmed the fleet is being retrofitted with new cleaning jets for the camera sensors to handle weather occlusion.Looking at the broader robotaxi market, the trio analyzes their Zoox experiences at CES, with David noting the vehicle's braking was significantly harsher than Waymo or Tesla FSD, while Walt highlights the motion sickness challenges inherent in the vehicle's carriage-style seating configuration. In Prediction Corner, the group debates the timeline for Tesla removing the safety driver on highways, with David offering a bullish forecast for Memorial Day, while Walt and Grayson take a more conservative stance, predicting a rollout closer to late 2026.Episode Chapters0:00 Coast to Coast Fully Autonomous in a Tesla Model 310:49 The Next Record12:16 FSD Unsupervised in Austin16:16 Waymo Experience on Uber in Austin17:17 Robotaxi Safety Attendants19:44 Unsupervised Robotaxi Service Area21:43 Sensor Cleaning26:05 Robotaxi, No Highways in Austin, Yet32:11 Zoox Las Vegas Experiences37:13 LiDAR48:07 Why AutonomyRecorded on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 --------About The Road to AutonomyThe Road to Autonomy provides market intelligence and strategic advisory services to institutional investors and companies, delivering insights needed to stay ahead of emerging trends in the autonomy economy™.

If you are building up a track car or a race car, and you need to add power, where would you start? A bigger Turbo? Supercharger? Maybe building up the engine and tuning the ECU?What about making your race car a hybrid?I think I am safe in saying that most of us would not even consider turning a car that didn't start out life as a hybrid into one, much less making it a hybrid to improve the cars performance. But that is exactly what Sasha from Mountain Pass Performance did with his 350Z Time Attack car.In this episode, Sasha and I talk about everything that was involved to turn his 350Z Hybrid Time Attack car in to the monster that it is. We also talk about how this project relates to the work that Mountain Pass Performance does to improve the performance of EV's like the Tesla Model 3.If you want to see all the details about MPP's KELS build, and everything else that they are up to, take a look at their Youtube Channel here:https://www.youtube.com/@UCq47UcvRMn97rd_ams7dtfA Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

When Subaru revealed two different STI concepts at the Japan Mobility show at the end of October, one Electric, and one Combustion, it started a lot of discussions.A few of which you have likely seen here on our channel and on the Podcast. The majority of Subaru Enthusiasts are very excited about getting an STI back in the lineup that has a traditional combustion engine for power delivery, even though there haven't been any details about price, power, or performance. For this episode, I wanted to bring together people that have a lot of experience with Subaru's, but also experience with EV's as well to make sure that we were giving the potential EV path of the STI a fair amount of consideration as well.Tony from Turn in Concepts competed in Gridlife for 2 years in a Tesla Model 3 Performance, Brian from iWire daily drives a Rivian R1T Quad motor truck, and Steve (aka. Kostamojen) has had and built a number of Subaru's, but currently drives and tracks a Hyundai Ioniq 5N.There was a lot to discuss here, and if nothing else, this makes it clear that this question is not as simple as it would seem from the initial reactions to the STI concepts. Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1203: Autonomy expands its EV subscription fleet with new brands, Foxconn doubles down on becoming a global EV battery powerhouse, and the U.S. labor market enters a “Great Freeze” that's keeping both hiring and firing on ice. Show Notes with links:EV subscription company Autonomy has secured $25 million to add more than 1,200 vehicles and broaden its lineup beyond Tesla.Autonomy operates a subscription-based model where customers choose an EV in the app, pay by credit card, and receive delivery through dealer partners.New funding brings in Polestar and Volvo models, plus updated Tesla Model 3 and Model Y variants.Recent model-year and off-lease CPO EVs are being added to offer more price points for subscribers.Dealer partners handle delivery—Galpin Motors will lead the Polestar rollout in L.A. using a Deloitte-built digital experience.“Our goal is to make getting a car as easy as streaming a movie… on the customer's terms,” said founder & CEO Scott Painter.Foxconn—the same company that builds your iPhone—is rapidly reinventing itself again, this time as a global battery supplier capable of powering future cars, buses, and data centers.A new $193M battery plant in Kaohsiung is ramping from 0.5 GWh to 1.2 GWh next year, supplying commercial vehicles now and passenger EVs in 2025.Foxconn says it can replicate its full, automated, 85% in-house battery supply chain anywhere in the world, creating local supply for OEM partners. Its EV lineup is expanding (Model C, B, D, E, A), and the company has its first U.S. customer for the Model C—awaiting North American certification.Partnerships are multiplying, including a new electric-bus venture with Mitsubishi Fuso using Foxconn-built battery packs.“We can duplicate this anywhere and scale up,” said Troy Wu, global battery strategy lead. “Customers are looking for one-stop shopping.”A chill has settled over the American labor landscape as companies avoid both layoffs and hiring, creating what economists are calling the “Great Freeze.” It's a market stuck in neutral—good for job security, not so great for career mobility.Layoffs remain low, but hiring has also slowed as companies cling to workers while avoiding expansion during economic uncertainty.Tariff questions, AI impact, supply constraints, and weak pockets like construction are all contributing to hesitancy in adding headcount.Companies are holding onto workers for stability, but a recession could break that trend. Unemployment is still low, yet job openings have fallen to 7.2 million.Career growth is stalling as workers struggle to move roles or negotiate raises in a low-turnover environment.“We're seeing employers and job seekers both trying to wait out any of tJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
Talking further on Ford Motor Company President and CEO Jim Farley and his comments on a recent podcast on Ford’s transformation to improve quality, get its electric vehicle business profitable and compete with Chinese car makers. Ford lost a staggering US $5 billion on EV sales last year and US$3.6 billon in the first three quarters this year. Farley however is determined to give Americans an EV they want, and which is affordable, adding “I was humbled when we took apart the first Tesla Model 3 and other Chinese vehicles – it was shocking what we found – the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E has 1.6 kilometres more electrical wiring to the Tesla, adding 70 pounds of unnecessary weight, requiring a more expensive and larger battery. His decision to create the separate division in the company, called Model e, was designed to address such issues.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1198: Audi taps Scout Motors to build its first U.S.-made SUV, the used-car market cools while EVs heat up, and Ford trades “The Glass House” for a high-tech headquarters built for its next century.Show Notes with links:Audi is shifting its U.S. strategy with plans for a large electric SUV designed specifically for American buyers—but instead of building a new plant, it'll lean on Scout Motors' upcoming South Carolina facility. The new SUV will use Scout's body-on-frame EV platform with a range extender for longer driving distances.Production starts in late 2027, giving Audi its first U.S.-built model without a multibillion-dollar factory investment. The move helps Audi avoid steep import tariffs while boosting its U.S. competitiveness.Scout CEO Scott Keogh hinted at more group synergies: “There is certainly a possibility that other exciting products from the group will definitely be built there.”The used-car market is finding its rhythm again—though buyers are taking their time. Prices keep climbing, but EVs are now the surprise speed sellers of the segment. The average three-year-old car spent 41 days on lots in Q3 2025, the slowest turnover since 2017.The average transaction price hit $31,067, up 5% from last year and nearly $10K higher than pre-pandemic.EVs sold fastest at just 34 days, beating hybrids (40 days) and gas models (43 days).Two-thirds of used EVs were priced between $20K–$30K, often with under 40,000 miles, giving them the best value in the market.Edmunds found that eight of the 19 fastest-selling three-year-old vehicles were EVs, led by the Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.For the first time since 1956, Ford is moving its headquarters—trading “The Glass House” for a massive, ultra-modern campus designed to reflect the automaker's tech-driven future. The new 2.1 million-square-foot “Ford World Headquarters” doubles the size of the old site, featuring seven restaurants and a 160,000-square-foot food hall.A dramatic showroom dubbed a “James Bond villain's lair” serves as the centerpiece for product reveals and executive decision-making.The move, just three miles from the old HQ, brings over 14,000 employees within a seven-minute walk of the new complex.Ford's goal: attract top software and AI talent and foster collaboration—something “The Glass House” wasn't built for.Ford Land's Jennifer Kolstad said, “When you're in it, you feel like you are in the center of automotive design.”Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Paul Herrold of the Sons of Speed sits in for Jill this week. The hosts open the show by discussing the reborn Chevrolet Bolt small electric crossover. Pricing comes in about $5000 below the least-expensive Chevy Equinox EV, at around $30,000. Paul and Tom also discussed the new Tesla Model 3 and Model Y “Standard" models, which are both priced around $40,000, though lose some features and range to hit the new price point. Still in the first segment, Paul shares a quick review of the all-new Lotus Eletre electric crossover. Prices are high, but Paul reports a great drive experience, and a nice cabin. In the second segment, the hosts welcome Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions to the show. Sam shared his impressions of the GMC Sierra electric pickup, and talked about the pickup-truck market in general. In the last segment, Paul is subjected to Tom's “Gran or Grand” quiz. Paul also shared interesting news regarding autonomous vehicles and traffic lights.
Tu and Lei unpack a pivotal week in global EVs — where Germany's giants stumble and China keeps charging ahead.
Mercedes-Benz just made a game-changing decision that's sending shockwaves through the electric vehicle industry. Instead of partnering with NIO, they've gone all-in with ByteDance and their Doubao AI model for the new electric CLA. But is this actually going to save Mercedes in China? In this episode, we break down the brutal reality Mercedes is facing: 19% sales decline in Q2 2025, collapsing EV numbers, and a complete loss of market share to Chinese domestic brands. We explore why ByteDance won the deal over NIO, what this means for the future of software-defined vehicles, and whether this partnership is a genuine solution or just expensive PR.I dive deep into the numbers, the technology, and the strategic implications for both legacy automakers and Chinese EV makers. This isn't just about one partnership—it's about a fundamental shift in what cars are becoming and who's winning the intelligence race.Key topics covered: Mercedes-Benz China sales crisis, ByteDance Doubao AI integration, NIO technology licensing strategy, software-defined vehicles, Chinese EV market dominance, Tesla Model 3 competition, and the future of automotive AI.Whether you're invested in NIO, watching the EV space closely, or trying to understand the future of automotive technology, this analysis gives you the insights you need.Mercedes-Benz,NIO stock,ByteDance,Doubao AI,electric vehicles,EV news,Chinese EV market,NIO news,Tesla competition, automotive AI,software defined vehicles,Mercedes China,EV stocks,NIO analysis,Mercedes electric CLA,TikTok,Volcano Engine, automotive technology, luxury EV,Chinese automakers,EV investment, stock analysis, tech stocks, autonomous driving, smart cockpit,Mercedes sales,EV market analysis,William Li,business news, technology newsYOUTUBE TAGS (500 CHARACTERS):
This week, Marques, Andrew, and David start things off with Instagram Ring awards, a new electric skateboard, and final thoughts on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Ford Focus. 4ª generación, 2019 a 2021. Jaguar E-Pace y Land Rover Discovery Sport y Evoque. Versiones 2019 a 2024. Tesla Model 3. 2019 a 2022.
This Day in Legal History: Treaty of Fort PittOn September 17, 1778, the Treaty of Fort Pitt—also known as the Treaty of Fort Pitt or the Delaware Treaty—was signed between the newly independent United States and the Lenape (Delaware) Nation. It was the first formal treaty between the United States and a Native American tribe, signaling an alliance during the Revolutionary War against British forces. The treaty, negotiated at Fort Pitt (present-day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), promised military collaboration, mutual defense, and provisions for supplies and protection for the Lenape people. In a striking and largely symbolic provision, the treaty even entertained the idea of creating a 14th state within the Union to be governed by Native Americans.Though the treaty framed the Lenape as equal partners, its promises were quickly eroded by reality. The United States failed to deliver many of the resources it pledged, and the idea of a Native-governed state was abandoned almost as soon as it was proposed. Lenape leaders had agreed to the treaty in part out of necessity, caught between colonial and British expansion and hoping to safeguard their people's survival. Instead, they faced encroachment, displacement, and repeated betrayals.Within a few years, American militias and settlers would violate the treaty's terms, seizing land and disregarding Lenape sovereignty. The alliance never materialized in the way it was envisioned. The treaty, once a beacon of potential cooperation, became an early example of the fragility of Native-American treaties with the United States. It set a precedent for broken agreements that would recur throughout American expansion.A Senate report released by Democrats on September 17, 2025, criticized KPMG LLP for failing to act on warning signs at Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank, and First Republic Bank prior to their 2023 collapses. The auditors issued clean reports just weeks before the banks failed due to rising interest rates and liquidity issues, yet they allegedly ignored key red flags such as massive asset devaluations, governance concerns, and internal risk assessments. Lawmakers said KPMG adopted an overly narrow view of its responsibilities and maintained close, long-term relationships with the banks, raising questions about its objectivity. The report highlighted a revolving door between KPMG and the banks, with executives and audit staff frequently moving between roles. KPMG defended its audits, saying it followed U.S. standards and criticized the report as out of step with other investigations, which have not blamed auditors for the failures.Senator Richard Blumenthal called for substantial reform to the audit industry, citing “willful blindness” by KPMG and a failure to protect the public. Though the Senate subcommittee's report is unlikely to spur immediate regulatory changes—especially given the political instability at the PCAOB—it proposed new oversight tools, including mandatory auditor rotation and a whistleblower office. The report also recommended making audit enforcement investigations public sooner, arguing that long delays leave investors unaware of potential problems. KPMG, meanwhile, noted it had improved its audit practices and achieved its best regulatory inspection in 15 years.KPMG Dismissed Red Flags at Regional Banks, Senate Review FindsA New York state judge dismissed two terrorism-related charges against Luigi Mangione, who remains accused of second-degree murder in the killing of health insurance executive Brian Thompson. Justice Gregory Carro ruled that prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence that Mangione acted with the intent to intimidate health workers or influence government policy—criteria necessary for charges under the state's terrorism statute. While the judge acknowledged the seriousness of the crime, he clarified that not all non-traditional crimes qualify as terrorism.Mangione, 27, still faces nine other charges in the state case, including multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon and a charge for possessing false identification. He has also been indicted federally, where the U.S. Justice Department is seeking the death penalty. The state court's decision does not impact the federal terrorism case, which remains active. Thompson, a former CEO at UnitedHealthcare, was shot outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel in December 2024 during a company event. The case has drawn national attention, particularly as concerns grow over politically motivated violence following the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Public reaction to Mangione has been sharply divided, with some viewing him as a vigilante figure amid frustration with rising healthcare costs. Supporters even rallied outside the courthouse, holding signs and wearing themed attire. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and no trial dates have been scheduled.Luigi Mangione wins dismissal of terrorism counts in US insurance executive's killing | ReutersSeveral major U.S. law firms that reached agreements with President Donald Trump earlier this year are now representing clients in lawsuits against his administration, despite concerns that the deals would deter such actions. At least four of the nine firms that made arrangements with the White House—Latham & Watkins, Willkie Farr & Gallagher, Skadden Arps, and Milbank—have since taken on cases involving challenges to Trump-era policies on immigration, transgender rights, tariffs, and environmental regulations. The firms' deals with the Trump administration, reached in March and April, came in response to executive orders targeting firms seen as opposing the president's agenda or promoting diversity policies he opposed. As part of the agreements, the firms pledged nearly $1 billion in pro bono legal work for causes aligned with the administration. Critics feared the arrangements would chill dissent and limit the firms' independence, but court records show several firms continued to litigate against the government.Legal experts suggest these firms are balancing risk with professional obligations, especially in high-profile cases involving long-standing clients or influential attorneys. For example, Latham represents Danish energy company Orsted in a lawsuit over a halted wind project, and Willkie is defending Virginia school districts in a transgender rights dispute. Milbank is involved in litigation over Trump's tariff powers and sanctuary city policies, led by prominent attorneys Neal Katyal and Gurbir Grewal. Skadden has partnered with a nonprofit to represent an immigrant woman denied a special visa.Four firms successfully challenged the legality of Trump's executive orders in court, with rulings finding they violated First Amendment protections. The administration has appealed. Meanwhile, Reuters has reported that other top firms have reduced pro bono and diversity initiatives, cautious of possible political retaliation. Some law firms that cut deals with Trump take cases opposing his administration | ReutersTesla has reached a confidential settlement with the family of Jovani Maldonado, a teenager killed in a 2019 crash involving a Tesla Model 3 operating on Autopilot. The case, which was set to go to trial next month in Alameda County, adds to a string of fatal crash lawsuits the company has quietly resolved to avoid jury trials. The Maldonados alleged that Tesla's driver-assistance system failed to detect slowing traffic and that the car struck their Ford Explorer at 70 mph, ejecting and killing 15-year-old Jovani. According to the lawsuit, the Tesla driver had no hands on the wheel at the time of impact, and the family claimed Tesla misled the public about the safety and capabilities of its Autopilot technology.Although Tesla argued the technology worked as designed and blamed the driver, it continues to settle similar cases even after Elon Musk publicly stated in 2019 that he opposed settling “unjust” lawsuits. The company has also recently settled other high-profile fatal crash suits, including ones involving distracted drivers and cases with alcohol-related elements. These legal battles come as Tesla faces mounting scrutiny over Autopilot and its marketing practices. The California DMV is pursuing an administrative complaint accusing Tesla of exaggerating its software's capabilities, with a ruling still pending. Tesla has three more fatal Autopilot crash trials scheduled in the next six months, including one in Houston involving injured police officers.Tesla Settles Another Fatal Crash Suit Ahead of Jury Trial (1) This is a public episode. ROC TO 2030 Volkswagen has postponed production of its ID. Golf and ID. Roc EVs to 2030, with the ID. Roc debuting first on the new SSP platform, followed by the ID. Golf. The delay triggers a reshuffle of its plant allocations, with related internal combustion and EV model moves now set for clarification in annual planning later in the year. BERLIN PLANT RAISES OUTPUT DESPITE SALES DROP Tesla's Berlin Grünheide factory is increasing its production targets in response to anticipated market strength, despite ACEA reporting a 44% sales drop in the EU and a 39% decline in German registrations through August. Tesla attributes the downturn to Model Y design updates disrupting sales, with Norway showing strong growth and production revised upwards for Q3 and Q4. ALL-ELECTRIC AUDI RS6 E-TRON FUTURE UNCLEAR The fully electric Audi RS6 e-tron may be canceled, even as prototypes continue road testing, with Audi expected instead to launch a plug-in hybrid RS6 alongside its traditional combustion model. Both vehicles were planned to share RS6 design cues but sit on different platforms, and initial plans had the EV debuting before the plug-in hybrid's 2026 arrival. HONG KONG PURSUES LOCAL EV ASSEMBLY BASE Hong Kong is negotiating with multiple Chinese carmakers, including FAW Group, to establish local EV production facilities as part of a push for strategic industry and international expansion. High local costs and China's overcapacity drive suppliers to Hong Kong's financial sector, with major players like Contemporary Amperex Technology already setting up headquarters and listing on the city's stock exchange. LUCID TO EXPAND IN ASIA, BUT NOT CHINA Lucid Motors plans expansion into Asian markets but will avoid China, citing heavy subsidies and overcapacity as reasons for staying out. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff expressed confidence in Lucid's technology and competitiveness while focusing future models on the $50,000 segment and higher, not the low-cost market. EXTENDING AUSTRALIAN EV TAX EXEMPTION COULD ADD 1.5 MILLION TO ROADS Extending Australia's EV fringe-benefits tax exemption to 2035 could add 1.5 million electric cars to Australian roads, according to Electric Vehicle Council modelling. The policy has driven over 100,000 additional EV sales since 2022, with further benefits possible for plug-in hybrids and the second-hand market. NISSAN AND CHARGESCAPE LAUNCH V2G PILOT Nissan and ChargeScape have launched a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) pilot in Silicon Valley, using Nissan EVs and Fermata Energy bidirectional chargers to support grid demand for local data centers. The project aims to set a model for broader V2G integration through California's virtual power plant network and beyond. FORD TOUTS MOVE TO LFP BATTERIES Ford will manufacture lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries at its BlueOval Michigan plant from 2026, using CATL technology for future vehicles including a mid-size pickup. LFP batteries offer lower cost and better safety, though less energy density, and Ford remains open to evolving battery chemistry based on market needs and possible new plants. TOYOTA UK PROFIT FALLS TO £462,000 Toyota Motor UK's pre-tax profits fell sharply to £462,000 with revenues down over £135m, attributed to fleet mix management and compliance with tighter ZEV mandates. Despite a drop in market share, Toyota will expand its EV offering next year, including the all-electric Urban Cruiser SUV debuting in late 2025. USED EV CREDIT WORTH $4,000 ENDING SOON The U.S. federal Used Clean Vehicle Credit, worth up to $4,000 for electric or plug-in hybrid cars priced under $25,000, expires September 30. The credit drove significant price declines and saw models like the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt become notably affordable, making immediate purchases attractive for eligible buyers. UK REQUIRES LOCK UPGRADES FOR CHINESE CARS UK insurers have required Chinese car manufacturers to improve their vehicles' anti-theft devices and locking systems to better meet local standards amid rising theft rates, now at 102,000 annually. Brands like BYD have worked with regulators and added advanced technology to boost security as Chinese car sales surge in Britain.
In this episode of EV Musings, Gary explores the commonly cited concern about making emergency long-distance journeys in electric vehicles . The discussion is prompted by a Tesla Model 3 owner considering switching to a hybrid due to fears of being unable to reach a loved one quickly in an emergency. Gary dissects this scenario, comparing EV and fossil fuel vehicle travel times, and highlights that delays are often due to traffic, roadworks, or other unpredictable events—not EV charging. He argues that the emergency journey concern is largely a red herring and that EVs are more than capable of handling such situations. He also suggests that public transport may be a faster and less stressful alternative in many cases. This season of the podcast is sponsored by Zapmap, the free to download app that helps EV drivers search, plan, and pay for their charging.Links in the show notes:There's a surprising climate solution right under your feet | Grist - Cool ThingEpisode produced by Arran Sheppard at Urban Podcasts: https://www.urbanpodcasts.co.uk(C) 2019-2025 Gary Comerford Support me: Patreon Link: http://www.patreon.com/evmusingsKo-fi Link: http://www.ko-fi.com/evmusings The Books:'So, you've gone electric?' on Amazon : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07Q5JVF1X'So, you've gone renewable?' on Amazon : https://amzn.to/3LXvIckSocial Media:EVMusings: Twitter https://twitter.com/MusingsEvInstagram: @EVmusingsOctopus Energy referral code (Click this link to get started) https://share.octopus.energy/neat-star-460Upgrade to smarter EV driving with a free week's trial of Zapmap Premium, find out more here https://evmusings.com/zapmap-premium

With the recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, also known as the Big Beautiful Bill, significant changes are coming to both solar panel and electric vehicle tax credits. I break down what these changes mean, how they can affect your savings, and what steps you might want to take before these credits disappear. From figuring out if solar panels make sense for your home to understanding how electric vehicle credits work (and when they're expiring), this episode is packed with actionable insights and tips, especially for those planning for retirement or looking to cut down on monthly expenses. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... [01:31] Residential solar panels are popular for reducing electric bills, offering significant savings, especially for retirees. [05:23] Solar tax credits are expiring soon. [09:07] Solar investments offset electric costs and protect against future rate hikes, beneficial long term. [11:28] Costs and break-even of electric cars. [13:08] Act now if you want to take advantage of solar tax credits. The Solar Panel Tax Credit is a Fading Opportunity One of the biggest draws for homeowners considering solar panels has been the significant federal tax credit, currently set at 30% of the total installation cost. This credit has made solar an appealing investment for many, offering a direct dollar-for-dollar reduction in the taxes owed. In high-cost electricity states like Connecticut, this can mean hundreds of dollars in monthly savings on your utility bill. However, the Big Beautiful Bill brings an unfortunate change: the solar tax credit is set to disappear at the end of this year. That means if you've been thinking about going solar, now is the time to act. If you don't install solar panels before the deadline could add years to your payback period, undermining the investment's attractiveness and putting it out of reach for many. Energy Savings of Battery Storage and EVs While solar panels are great for energy savings, adding a battery storage system further enhances their benefits. A battery can store excess solar power for use during peak times or outages, which is particularly helpful for retirees planning to stay in their homes for decades and looking to insulate themselves from rising electricity rates. Electric vehicles (EVs) also offer savings for households with high transportation costs. The federal EV tax credit, worth up to $7,500 on new cars and up to $4,000 for used EVs, has also been a strong motivator for those considering a switch from gas-powered vehicles. The Big Beautiful Bill also changes the EV tax credit, which will disappear even sooner than the solar incentive. Although there are several important limitations: only vehicles assembled in North America qualify, and there's a cap on purchase price ($55,000 for sedans, $80,000 for SUVs). Income limitations apply as well; single filers must earn less than $150,000 ($300,000 for married couples) to claim the new vehicle credit. The used EV credit comes with lower income caps ($75,000 for singles, $150,000 for couples) and is worth up to $4,000. Should You Act Now? Before making any big investment, think about the following: Timing: Both solar and EV credits will soon vanish. If you want the tax break, don't wait. Financial Health: The best return comes from paying cash, not financing or tapping retirement accounts. Long-term Plans: Solar and EV investments make the most sense if you plan to stay in your home and keep your vehicle for years to come. Manufacturers may eventually lower prices as credits disappear, but there are no guarantees. With energy incentives set to change dramatically, the window to maximize savings is closing fast. For homeowners and future retirees, the time to act is now, whether that means installing solar, purchasing an EV, or both. Consult with a financial advisor to consider how these decisions fit into your overall retirement and financial readiness strategy. The Treasury Department's official list of eligible vehicles shows that the cars, trucks, minivans, and SUVs listed below qualify for a full $7,500 tax credit if placed in service between January 1 and September 30 of 2025. In some cases, only certain trim levels or model years qualify. More vehicles may be added to or removed from this list as manufacturers continue to submit information on whether their vehicles are eligible. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1094: Today we celebrate the industry's next generation with Automotive News' 40 Under 40, explore why used EVs are the hottest deal on the lot, and dig into Tesla's underwhelming Grok rollout. It's time to recognize the rising stars shaping the future of the retail automotive business. Automotive News has released its 14th annual “Retail 40 Under 40” list, spotlighting the next generation of dealership leadership. This year's honorees include GMs, dealer principals, CFOs, and department heads making real moves in their stores and communities.Dealerships represented range from large groups like Hendrick and Lithia to family-run independents.Standouts include Stephanie Frink, president of Hennessy Auto Cos., and Jake Sodikoff, dual-store dealer principal and president of Steven Nissan and Kia.The list highlights broad roles—from finance and marketing to fixed ops—showing leadership can come from any department.“These honorees are driving change, growth, and innovation in one of the most competitive industries in the world,” said Automotive News in its announcement. In a cooling EV market, used electric vehicles are emerging as the best deal on the lot—thanks to deep discounts and looming tax credit expirations.Used EV sales hit a record 100,000+ units in Q2, buoyed by steep price drops of nearly 32% in 2024.Buyers like Christopher Andrzejczak scored vehicles for less than half their original sticker prices.Used EVs depreciate faster than gas cars due to concerns about battery life and tech obsolescence.Demand is surging ahead of the $4,000 used EV tax credit's scheduled end in September.Eli Cook and his wife, preparing to move from Missouri to California, bought a used 2020 Tesla Model 3 for $15,000 in cash to avoid high Bay Area gas prices and missing out on the soon-to-expire tax credit. “It really seems like we're buying the dip for used EVs right now,” Cook said.Tesla's latest software update (2025.26) includes the long-awaited arrival of Grok, Elon Musk's AI chatbot. But before you get too excited…Grok currently doesn't do much inside the car.Grok is only available in U.S. vehicles with AMD infotainment chips—basically, Teslas made after mid-2021.It's in beta and can't issue voice commands or interact with vehicle systems yet.Right now, it's just like having Grok on your phone… but on your car's touchscreen.Other software tweaks include syncing ambient lighting to music, personalized audio presets, and enhanced Dashcam Viewer tools.0:00 Intro with Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier1:10 Paul and Kyle are attending the 4th Annual Beaver Toyota and Mazda Golf Tournament2:20 The Automotive News 40 Under 40 List4:28 Used EVs are the Best Deal Right Now6:37 What Grok Currently Does In The Tesla AIJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
