The golden candlestick in the tabernacle represented Christ's death and Resurrection. It provided light in a dark place, illuminating all the other activities in the holy place. God has a purpose for his people. He didn't just save them from Egypt, he reconciled them to himself and made them a new people that were to live for him and worship him. The number of words and chapters giving the details of God's prescription for the tabernacle speaks to the importance of corporate worship for his people. This is an important lesson for us today. Just like we might de-emphasize the intention of the tabernacle details, many evangelical Christians today tend to de-emphasize the importance of the Church. In this episode of Sermon B-Sides, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten discuss the importance of God's purpose for his people and God's redemptive work in history. We hope you enjoy, and as usual, if you have any questions for Sermon B-Sides or anything else, email us at pastor@coramdeochurch.org.

In this episode Kenneth Padgett transports us to the Tabernacle - God's Edenic tent in the midst of His people. The creation of the Tabernacle is a remarkable moment in the story for many reasons, but none greater than what it tells us about God and His desire to be with His people.

Christian Talk - Workers Start On Tabernacle. God Loves Cheerful Giving. Exodus 36
Why is it important for believers in Christ today to learn about the ancient dwelling place of God's Holy Presence with Israel? How many different earthly dwelling places (tabernacles; temples) are there if we begin with Eden and end with the Heavenly "Eden"? How did both Eden and Mount Sinai connect with the Tabernacle? What clues are found in the Ark of the Covenant to help us know how God could be merciful on law-breakers? Why is it that Adam was innocent, but not righteous even before the Fall? What was AMAZINGLY significant about the Israeli encampment around the Tabernacle? How many times did Moses go up and down Sinai (at 80 years old)? How long did it take to build the Tabernacle and how does that fact possibly relate to the true birth date of Jesus Christ (for this, you'll need to listen to all three messages)! There are 50 chapters in Scripture regarding the Tabernacle, its priesthood, its furnishings, its sacrifices, and its significance in regard to Christ and His atonement work on the cross of Calvary. There are only 2 chapters on the Creation account. So, do you think the Tabernacle is important to God? You will be enriched by this study - EVEN IF you have studied the Tabernacle many times before!
This is a continuation of our Old Testament look at finding the Lord Jesus Christ in the Book of Exodus! Do NOT think to yourself that Exodus is not a very interesting book of Scripture - or that it is not relevant to us today. Why? Because you would be 100% wrong! There is so much "of us" in the Israelites wandering in the wilderness of this world that a look at them is like a look in the "mirror"! Also, there is so much of our Saviour on every page - and in every aspect of of God's "Masterpiece Type" of His Eternal Son, the Tabernacle, you will truly be both surprised and super-blessed. This study is what you call "rich meat"!
Are there "hidden" messages in the Tabernacle? Yes! It is full of wonderful secrets and treasures - such that even Indiana Jones would be shocked to discover (and, hopefull, become a believer in Christ)! See "the Way," and "the Truth," and "the Life" in the three Tabernacle "entrances"! See Christ in the gold-covered Acacia wood of the Tabernacle Proper! See the Trinity in the three main parts of the Tabernacle Proper and find out where Their three crowns are located within that Holy Place! Discover the interesting connection with the "pathway" of the Tabernacle (from the Eastern Gate entrance to the Holy of Holies) and the "path" of salvation. Find out the sigificance of the names of Moses' two God-chosen, God-giften construction forement and how they together pictured Christ Jesus. Learn why, for the first and only time in the long wilderness journey of Israel, we don't hear her murmuring and complaining! In fact (other than the shocking golden calf incident), she was unusually obedient, generous, and united! It was a good time for Israel as she worked together in building "God's House"!

God has laid out specifications for every material used for every part of the Tabernacle, except for the pillars used to set up the hangings outside the Tabernacle—God did not specify those materials. You are not used as a pillar when you possess high-level, humanistic conditions. You are filled with the things of God when everything inside of you is completely emptied out. That is when it is possible. Whether you have learned a lot or a little; whether you are from a good family or not; whether you have a lot of money or not…God trains people the way He wants. He makes them into the pillars of the Tabernacle. The pillars are unable to say, “I was used because I'm made out of gold,” or, “I was used because I'm made out of silver.” We are not used because we are soft people or strong people. You are only used when you are held by the hand of God. God makes us into the precious pillars of the Tabernacle according to the image that He wants and that pleases His will. Therefore, it is arrogant to think, “I became a pillar of the Tabernacle because I'm well-educated.” On the other hand, it is arrogant to think, “I can't be used by God because I'm uneducated.” If God chooses us and uses us, then everything we possess is useless. The people God uses are not used because they meet certain conditions. When their hearts become emptied and upheld by God, God trims them, trains them, and uses them as precious workers, gathering His glory through them.
Why is so much space & time devoted to the creation of the Tabernacle in Exodus? Ben teaches us what each part means and what it means for us today!

Reading: Exo 25:1-11, 17-22 [Covers Exodus 25-27, 35-40] God desires to make his dwelling with us. We explore this life-changing theme which begins in Genesis, culminates in Jesus (Jn 1, 2) , and comes to consummation in the new heavens and new earth (Rev. 21 & 22).
Reading: Exo 25:1-11, 17-22 [Covers Exodus 25-27, 35-40]
When his son Absalom rebelled against him, David had to flee from Jerusalem to save his life. Out of that experience he wrote this Psalm. When David was in the wilderness he was pleading for God’s help and strength (vs.1). David was much aware his true rock was God. His true shelter and his true strong Tower was God (vv.2-3). David was abiding in His tabernacle, since God was his protection, he didn’t needed the city walls for his protection. God was his Rock. He didn’t needed the tabernacle for his worship. God was his Tabernacle (vv.4-5). So David was rejoicing in the wilderness even though his situation and circumstances were bad. David always sang and gave praises to the name of God always (vv.6-8). When you bring your request to the Lord and relay on Him, you discover you can rejoice in Him. Paul encourages in Ph.4:4 saying “ Rejoice in the Lord always”. What is God to you? Is He your Rock, your Shelter, your Strong Tower, or your Tabernacle? God never intended that His people “throw in the towel”. Remember these truths. He is always listening to your cry, He is always with you and never forsake you, whatever your circumstances. You can always rejoice in God‘s protection. Are you trusting Him to meet your specific needs today?

Our look back over Exodus reminds of God's power, faithfulness, holiness, leadership, redemption and presence. The time covered by the book shows the rescue, unification and plan for the new nation of Israel -- God's people who have been promised an amazing future (if and when they take it). Answers to the "homework" (Thanks Bill!) are shown below: Why do you think Exodus starts off with a review of Jacob’s family? Jacob’s family (Israel) had been in Egypt over 400 years and the story of how they came to be in Egypt had most likely been lost through the years. In fact the promise of a gift of land forever that God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob most likely was also lost on the generation at was residing in Egypt at this time. The story of how God’s provision through Joseph was most likely forgotten as well. History, knowing what has happen in the past, it important for each of us. Why was Pharaoh such an affront to God? At this time in human history Egypt was the most powerfully nation on earth. Pharaoh thought he was the best or in his mind he was god. As we learned in Isaiah, God said through the prophet “I am God and there is no other”. Pharaoh was who he was because God allowed it and in the end, God showed His power to Pharaoh and the world. Why are the plagues such an effective condemnation of Pharaoh? Egypt had many gods and each of the plagues showed just how ineffective--false Pharaoh’s gods were. (1) The Nile turned to blood—Egypt had a god to the Nile-Hapi and Isis. (2)Frog’s—frogs were a fertility symbol. (3) Gnats Set-god of the desert (Bible Knowledge) (4) Flies were especially to the Egyptian god of Uatchit (Wiersbet). (5) Egyptian cattle die—some of the gods were farm animals-another attack on the Egyptian religion. The Israeli cattle was not harmed (6) Boils on everything living thing—Sekhmet the goodness with power over disease (Bible Knowledge) (7) Hail—Nut the sky goddess (8) Locusts—Osiris god of crops (9) Darkness—Re and Horus sun gods (Bible Knowledge) and (10) Death of the First Born—god’s of reproduction and childbirth. How is the parting of the Red Sea echoed elsewhere in Scripture? The Red Sea is mentioned two times in the new Testament Acts 7 in Stephen’s sermon and in Hebrews 11—the Faith chapter. In the Old Testament the crossing of the Red Sea is mentioned several times to remind Israel of God’s faithfulness—Moses in Deuteronomy, In Joshua, in Nehemiah, in Psalms (106 and 136) and in Jeremiah. All the reference was to remember history. What are the implications of God giving the Law to His people? In Exodus the Law was given to restore order after having been slaves for so many years and to teach them to love and obey Almighty God. Paul told us in Romans 7:7 “I would not have to know sin except through the Law” What are the implications of the presence of the Tabernacle? God has always wanted to have fellowship with the human race, His highest creation, and He chose Israel to be His own possession (Ex 19:5). In the process of bring order; the Tabernacle was a place of Worship and place of God’s presents. It was a shadow as Hebrews tells of things to come, that is a better Priest and sacrifice in the Lord Jesus. What Biblical Themes does Exodus Illustrate? Deliverance—Freedom—God’s Leading—God’s Provision—God’s Faithfulness—God’s Power
What do we learn from the Tabernacle concerning God's relationship to his people. Simply, (1) Our Sin Separates Us from God, but (2) God Deals with Our Sin to Dwell with Us Again. Hear Pastor Chad Hendley discuss this and more in this sermon delivered to Cottondale Baptist Church in Eastman, GA on 11/18/2018 AM.
God chose to come and live among His people. He gave Moses instructions for how to build His home called the Tabernacle. The tabernacle would be the dwelling place for God’s glory to live among the people as they traveled in the desert. Today, we are the tabernacle. We are the dwelling place of God. …
Through the Tabernacle God revealed Himself in a way so that the Israelites could actually see with their eyes truths…
