There is much about ourselves we find unacceptable. As we come to this place, grant to us eyes to see through the lens of your surpassing love the new creations of your grace that we are. Amen. PRELUDE & LIGHTING OF THE ALTAR CANDLES “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded“ HYMN: “Jesus is All the World to Me” - #469 CALL TO WORSHIP: Leader: Come, all who carry the weight of sin and guilt. People: Christ has taken up the sins of the world. Leader: Come, all who long for mercy and grace. People: God's love has nailed our debts to the cross. Leader: Come, all who seek a new beginning. People: By Christ's wounds, we are healed. All: Let us worship the God of mercy, love, and forgiveness! HYMN: “Isn't He” MINISTRY MOMENT – LILLIAN FAITH PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord God, we bow our heads before you in humble confession of the wrongs we have done, as well as the acts of love and mercy we have not done. We have bent the truth to serve our own purposes. We have been slow to apologize and swift to condemn. We have refused to make allowances for others while demanding others make allowances for us. We have coveted things we do not need. We have spoken more than we have listened, getting carried away by our own self-importance. We have been slow to serve, but quick to demand service of others. We arrogantly imagine we can manage the lives of other people when we have not yet learned to manage our own with righteousness. For Jesus' sake, forgive us these sins, as well as those particular wrongs we name in silence. [pause for self-examination]. Leader: Beginning during this Lenten season, help us follow him in all our thoughts, words and deeds. Amen. FIRST SCRIPTURE READING Isaiah 52:13 - 53:1-12 OUR TIME OF PRAYER (During our time of prayer, the altar rail is open for all who wish to come forward.) How does one of the greatest men of God crater so quickly?I Kings 18:46 The power of the Lord came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak intohis belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.I Kings 19:3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life.Elijah didn't stop believing in God.Elijah stopped connecting with God's people.I Kings 19:3-4 When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servantthere, while he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness. He came to abroom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have hadenough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” I Kings 19:9 And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here,Elijah?”I Kings 19:10 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put yourprophets to death with the sword. How do you know when God is moving amongst His people? You'll see repentance, humility, and transformed hearts. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses God's movement and involvement in our lives. He teaches from the book of Acts to demonstrate the power, glory, and righteousness of God and how the world's values fail to align with the Lord's. It isn't just a battle over law and order—there's a spiritual conflict unfolding. We're watching as morality continues to degrade, but there is hope! When we stand firm in our faith and trust the Holy Spirit to guide us in His perfect plans, God will bring us out of the darkness and into His light.
Not every church is positioned for revival. In this episode, I outline 9 traits that distinguish the remnant church—those local congregations God uses to shape culture, disciple nations, and steward His glory. From radical unity to deep discipleship, we'll examine what made the early Church in Acts a transformative force and how we can return to that blueprint today. This episode is a roadmap for leaders and believers seeking to align their church with God's original design.
It's tempting to believe life can get too far gone, too broken, or too messy for even God to fix. Whether we feel that way about ourselves or about others, it can leave us hiding, exhausted, or convinced there's no hope. But this message tells the story of someone everyone else had written off—yet God redeemed—to show how He makes room for the most unlikely people, rewrites broken stories, and calls us to do the same.
