* A note before you listen *Today's conversation includes significant discussion around suicide. These conversations are incredibly important and they are also difficult to hear. Please listen with care and put your wellbeing first. If this topic feels too close to home right now, you may wish to skip this episode or come back to it another time. This week I'm joined by psychotherapist Lauren Golden (@laurengoldenpsych) for a powerful conversation about going alcohol-free for a full year in honour of her brother Dan, who died by suicide. Lauren shares how grief, addiction and Ireland's alcohol culture shaped her relationship with alcohol from starting at 14, to the hidden costs of hangovers, anxiety and lost stability. We talk about the link between alcohol, impulsivity and suicide risk, why alcohol is a drug and what Lauren is learning about confidence, parenting, nights out and real sleep without the booze. We also celebrate and play tribute to Dan and the joy he brought to the people who knew and loved him deeply.Lauren is a psychotherapist, play therapist and author based in Cork City. She runs a private practice including children and adults. Lauren is vice chairperson of suicide awareness charity Shine A Light. This week, I am joined by musician/editor Neil Gust (Heatmiser, No.2) to discuss the troubling, complicated, and 'unreleased' Rolling Stones film C*cksucker Blues, directed by legendary photographer Robert Frank. We also discuss Neil's early days in Portland in his band with Elliott Smith--Heatmiser, Chris directing two early music videos for the band, the process of revisiting and re-releasing the Heatmiser records for Third Man Records, the odd newness of indie rock legacy, Neil's autobiographical songwriting (including "A.O.R." which is about Neil working on his Dad's farm as well as how his Dad's use of the word “c*cksucker” made Neil not want to tell anyone he was gay, Neil writing the Heatmiser song C*cksuckers Blues in response to the Rolling Stone's film, Let It Bleed, how seeing Apocalypse Now at a young age solidified Neil's love of intertwining music and film, how the Stones have had some of the greatest film directors of all time make some of their worst films, how Robert Frank got involved in making the film and the difficulties that surrounded it, why the Stones killed the film, bad art getting a ‘pass' when it's shown in museums, saving or ruining art in the edit, Rock N Roll Circus, Martin Scorsese's Shine A Light, seeing the Stones live and how janky it could be, comparing The Stones to a John Cassavetes film, Neil making the Heatmiser video for C*cksuckers Blues, Bruce Conner and found footage films, being turned onto art through bands like Hüsker Dü and R.E.M. and more.So bring the smelling salts, because today we're going deep into the murk on this week's Revolutions Per Movie!!!Heatmiser videos (both directed by Chris Slusarenko):Blackout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgNMZbOiCe4&list=RDkgNMZbOiCe4&start_radio=1Why Did I Decide To Stay:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra0ZDlo_jnE&list=RDra0ZDlo_jnE&start_radio=1Heatmiser video (directed by Neil Gust)C*cksuckers Blues:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CAEFCZoxWo&list=RD7CAEFCZoxWo&start_radio=1REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. What's up, diner buddies!Well, with yet another major snow event heading toward my hometown of Buffalo.. errrrrr.. Philadelphia, I'm happy to report I was able to find a window of decent weather to head back down to the hometown of my youth - Newark, DE - to meet up with my friend Marcus Slade, otherwise known as Marchitect. I recently got to hang with Marcus at Smiley's Diner, which holds the distinction of being the first "diner" where I really spent a lot of time, housing many a "Moons Over My Hammy" (iykyk) back in the day when it was a Denny's and I was coming up in the Newark scene, playing places like the Deer Park Tavern and the Stone Balloon, a legendary, now-defunct club, whose owner was once married to Jill Biden and was also recently arrested and charged with murdering his second wife. YIKES. But I digress.Marchitect is a rapper with an encyclopedic knowledge of music history. He actually was raised in upstate NY so he knows all about rough winters. He eventually moved to Delaware and became a fixture in Newark, where he's been a central figure in projects like the 49ers, Fat Daddy Has Been, and The Iguana Realty Company. He's performed with and rubbed elbows with some of the biggest names in the game and he's also the author of the audiobook “Becoming The Man” AND a member of the musical collective for Shine A Light - the annual benefit concert for children's music education held this year on March 7th at the Queen in Wilmington. It was at the rehearsals for Shine A Light, where I realized how deep this man's musical well truly goes. We've had great chats about all kinds of music and life in general and I knew he would make a great guest on this show. You can keep up with Marchitect - but I warn you, he moves fast - on his Instagram:@marchitect49Enjoy!~ JKF

Hello to you listening in Shah Alam, Malaysia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The beginning of a New Year can feel daunting. All those plans to kick start, days to fill, resolutions to keep, and more to do! There's no shame in admitting feeling a wee bit wobbly-legged about going forward in the face of wide open frontiers. What to do? Gain some courage by reversing your Bucket List. Instead of a list of what is yet to be done, what about a list of what you've accomplished from the littlest things that you felt made a difference to the biggest things you never thought you would achieve. You might begin by asking yourself:What made me proud? What have I learned? How did I transform my thinking about strangers to compassion and kindness?Who revealed the meaning of true love to me?Where did I find the hope and resilience to face whatever came my way? When did I feel most content or fulfilled? What would I do all over again just for the joy of it?What did I long for as a child? What have I created or, at least, not destroyed?Who have I lifted up?How have I defined my life? What dreams came true? And, which was I happy to leave by the wayside? What or whom did I fight for and why? When did I take time to play? In my experience the Reverse Bucket List invites us to pay attention to what we've done, won, gained, lost, learned and kept on living no matter what. It's proof that over and over again we have stepped outside our comfort zone to strive for something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for! Give it a go. Reverse your Bucket List and shine a light on you. You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Technology to improve rowing athletes' performances, zero-waste clothing design, and a safer and more comfortable Intrauterine Device (IUD) were among the start-ups highlighted at this year's University College Cork's IGNITE Autumn Showcase. The third-level graduates supported by the university's flagship incubation programme began working on their ideas this year and are hoping to develop them into a company with the assistance of IGNITE. The 2025 Autumn Showcase follows IGNITE's recent success in securing a €1 million Higher Education Authority (HEA) Award for exemplary performance and impact. The HEA evaluated Impact Assessment Case Studies, which were submitted by higher education institutions earlier this year. IGNITE emerged as one of five winning submissions. IGNITE is based at UCC and is open to anyone who has graduated from a third-level institution in recent years and has the passion and ambition to work on an idea that has the potential for economic, environmental or social impact. The annual showcase gives the IGNITE participants an opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs and potential investors. IGNITE has supported nearly 250 founders since it was established in 2011. The programme is a joint initiative by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, the Local Enterprise Offices of Cork City, South Cork and North and West Cork and University College Cork. Eamon Curtin, Director of IGNITE, said: "We are proud at IGNITE to support talented founders in developing their innovative business ideas into scalable and sustainable start-ups that deliver real social and economic value. The HEA Award is a testament to not only the great work carried out by our community of entrepreneurs, but also to the support provided to us by the Local Enterprise Offices, Cork County Council, Cork City Council and Bank of Ireland, without whom the programme would not be possible." Among the 14 start-ups currently supported by University College Cork's IGNITE Start-Up Incubation Programme are: Roteq - founded by Will Gunnarson and Sam O'Neill. Roteq empowers rowing athletes to reach their full potential by providing actionable insights into their performance. By processing data from a phone's built-in sensors, the programme delivers real-time performance metrics. These quantifiable metrics allow instant feedback and tracking of an athlete's technical and physiological progress on the water, making it easier than ever to achieve their goals. The Zero Waster - founded by Sarah O'Neill. Sarah is a designer whose work is grounded in the principles of regenerative design. With a deep-rooted respect for natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility, Sarah challenges the norms of the fashion industry through innovative reuse and transparency. Creating unique, wearable pieces from reclaimed and natural materials, showing that waste can be reimagined without compromising creativity or quality. Elithiya - founded by Isabelle Curran. Isabelle is a Product Design & Technology graduate from the University of Limerick and the founder of Elithiya, a women's health innovation focused on redesigning the intrauterine device (IUD) experience. Over the past year, she has collaborated with clinicians, FemTech founders, and patients worldwide to identify gaps in reproductive healthcare and develop a softer, more informed IUD insertion experience through redesigned tools and supportive digital technology. In this important episode, David sits down with recipients of the 2024 Shine A Light on Antisemitism Civic Courage Award, Dr. Devin Randolph and Rabbi Dr. Meir Muller. Together, they discuss ways to combat prejudice, racism, and antisemitism by searching for the commonalities in Black and Jewish fights for freedom and liberation. Dr. Randolph and Rabbi Dr. Muller encourage us to move away from black and white thinking and, instead, be vulnerable with each other, so that our human experiences may educate each other. Particularly in a post-October 7th landscape, the tension that may accompany Jewish education can create space for curiosity, support, and solidarity. Through historical and personal examples, this conversation explores the goal of promoting justice and understanding different perspectives. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and the community will Shine a Light for Anoosh, a fundraising campaign dedicated to raising awareness and supporting colon cancer prevention efforts.Donate $25 to “purchase a bulb,” symbolizing a collective effort to shine a light on the importance of on-time screenings and early detection. The campaign will kick off with the illumination of the Big Four Bridge in blue—a powerful tribute to the late Anoosh Shariat, a beloved chef and advocate who fought bravely against colon cancer.Anoosh was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018 and fought tirelessly to share the message of on-time screening being essential to prevent others from suffering. This event is proudly sponsored by Chef Dallas McGarity of The Fat Lamb, who is committed to continuing Anoosh's legacy by raising awareness and encouraging preventive action.Dallas and Anoosh's widow Paula Barmore joined me on 840WHAS to discuss the March 7 celebration.

"Run With Me" The Ontario-born Bry Webb formed the underground outfit The Constantines out of the ashes of the emo band Shoulder in 1999. With their jagged guitars, tribal drums, snarling bass lines and Webb's ferocious vocals along with his poetic lyrics, The Guelph-based Constantines were one of those rare bands that seemed to arrive fully formed. From 2004 to 2008, the Juno-award nominated Constantines put out four brilliant albums--their eponymous debut, Shine A Light, Tournament Of Hearts and Kensington Heights. And there's not a false note to be found anywhere--the syncopated rhythms, musical intensity and the sheer muscle and heart that powered every song brought to mind everyone from Fugazi to the Minutemen to The Replacements. This is a partial list of their highlights; they toured with The Tragically Hip and The Weakerthans, were signed to Sub Pop, played Lollapallooza, the Vancouver Olympics and a gig at the legendary Massey Hall. With the band on hiatus, Webb formed a band called The Harborcoats and put out three brilliant solo albums--Free Will, Provider and Run With Me. Redolent with raw intimacy, sensitivity, and poetic grace, Webb's solo work rings with as much conviction as his work with The Constantines. He's been nominated for a Genie Award, he contributed a track to This American Life and he sang back-up on Feist's album Metals. I can't say enough about this guy--he's a towering force and whether he's belting out anthems or staying low in the pocket to deliver some of the most stirring acoustic numbers you've ever heard, Bry Webb is a giant talent who is one of my all-time favorites. His body of work means everything to me and his presence on this show is nothing short of humbling. And he's one of the nicest dudes ever. www.brywebb.com (http://www.brywebb.com) www.brywebb.bandcamp.com www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com (http://www.stereoembersmagazine.com) www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers IG: @emberspodcast Bluesky: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

Growing up in Northern California, Jacob Rosenberg developed his passion for video and film as a skateboarder in the early 1990s, making acclaimed videos for Plan B Skateboards under the mentorship of the late founder Mike Ternasky. Upon his graduation from Emerson College, Rosenberg began his professional career directing music videos, short films, and commercials where he has directed and produced talent names such as LeBron James, Quincy Jones, Snoop Dogg, and Latto. Rosenberg served for a decade as a partner at the independent studio Bandito Brothers, spearheading forward-thinking digital workflows as their CTO and in-house director. How narcissists shine a light on your insecurities and amplify your 'weaknesses'. In this video I talk about how narcissistic people will use what they learn about you against you, to hurt you and make you feel bad. What's going on beautiful people, if the is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything. The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims get validation and the Narcissists get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone Website - www.mentalhealness.net Courses/Groups - https://courses.mentalhealness.net 1 on 1's and all my links - https://beacons.page/mentalhealness Self Love Journal - https://a.co/d/70L3zKb Remember, It's not your fault - https://a.co/d/2WNtdKJ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mentalhealness/support
