7.27.2026 #RolandMartinUnfiltered: Haitians Face TPS Deadline. 1,000 Marches to the Polls Launch. Howard Freshmen Get Help After today, thousands of Haitian immigrants will be in the United States legally after their temporary protection status ends. The question is what they will face when they return to the Caribbean island that armed gangs have taken over. Early voting in Georgia's special election to fill the late U.S. Rep. David Scott's seat in the 13th Congressional District hasn't been good. Reports indicate less than 2-percent have voted so far. It's Moral Monday Public Pulpit, and it's the launch of the 100 Days of Mobilization and 1,000 Marches to the Polls across all 50 states and D.C. We'll have some of that rally live. Federal judges deny an injunction to block Tennessee's GOP-favored congressional map that splits a majority-Black district in Memphis. Wisconsin voters sue to allow for a vote to count if an absentee ballot is late. And colleges in D.C. and New York are stepping up to help the hundreds of disenrolled Howard University incoming freshmen. But the research also uncovers important challenges, from rising tire waste and cardboard litter to significant concentrations of debris along America's coastlines.Together, Carol and David explore what the data reveals about changing consumer habits, why litter is fundamentally a behavioral issue, and how cleaner communities contribute to stronger local economies, safer neighborhoods, and healthier environments. David also shares practical insights into the proven strategies that help reduce litter, the role of shared responsibility, and why community engagement remains one of the most effective tools for creating lasting change.Purpose 360 is produced by TruStory FM.Full Show Notes & Resources HereView on YouTube Here (00:00) - Welcome to Purpose 360 (00:13) - David Scott, Keep America Beautiful (02:39) - David's Background (04:18) - Their First Litter Study (06:02) - The Litter Study (08:53) - Coastal Areas (12:01) - Change in Consumption (14:29) - Litter Bugs (15:17) - Impact of Cleaner Places (17:07) - Key Messages (19:12) - When Seeing Someone Litter (20:15) - Social Cleanups (22:11) - Last Thoughts (24:02) - Wrap Up

With apps like Merlin and eBird, do field guides even matter anymore? David Scott and Gavin McKinnon share why they developed a brand new book: A Field Guide to the Birds of Alberta. Backed by their love of birds, this episode is full of birding adventure stories from the boreal forest to the Rockies to the prairies, along with interesting insights about writing a field guide - a massive undertaking that is still worth the effort.  Get a copy of A Field Guide to the Birds of Alberta. Choosing Bird Friendly coffee is an easy (and delicious) way to support migratory species! Get on a tour with Gavin - check out Meadowlark Birding Tours. Gavin McKinnon developed a deep fascination for birds at an early age after he visited Point Pelee National Park on a weekend trip with his parents. Since then, he has traveled extensively in Canada and to numerous locations in the tropics and around the globe in search of unique birding opportunities. In 2022, Gavin founded Meadowlark Birding Tours, intending to share his passion for birds with others. After high school, he studied Renewable Resource Management at Lethbridge College and briefly worked in environmental consulting. In addition to leading tours, Gavin is actively involved in the local birding community, serving as a volunteer eBird reviewer. David Scott was born and raised in northern Ontario, and began venturing from home to find birds while in high school and has been an avid birder and naturalist ever since. After moving to southern Alberta, he came to love the birds of the prairies, badlands, foothills, and mountains as he did those of the boreal forest on the Canadian Shield. A librarian by trade, David works at the University of Lethbridge and volunteers for Nature Lethbridge, eBird, the Christmas Bird Count, and the provincial bird records committee.Andrea Gress (she/her) secretly thinks Piping Plovers are better than all the other birds...studied Renewable Resource Management at the University of Saskatchewan. She pivoted towards birds, after an internship in South Africa. Upon returning, she worked with Piping Plovers in Saskatchewan, and then as the Ontario Piping Plover Coordinator. Years of sharing her love of plovers with beach goers has turned into a full time communications role with Birds Canada. Support the show

In this essay, Alejandro Forero examines how bourgeois criminology weaponized positivist science to pathologize dissent, pseudoscientifically labeling anarchists as "born criminals" to justify state repression and legal exclusion. In response, Spanish anarchists repurposed evolutionary theory to propose the total abolition of prisons, advocating for a society rooted in mutual aid, rational education, and the elimination of the social inequalities that breed crime. Alejandro Forero is Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Barcelona. His most recent publications on the topic are: (2025) Anarchism and the Abolition of the Criminal Justice System: The Struggle for the Discourse on Evolution and Social Order in Spain., in Envisioning Abolition (edited by David Scott and Emma Bell), and 2023 “The new man and the abolition of punishment: Hulsman's approach and its similarities with the anarchist tradition” in Pain in Vain: Challenging the Penal System, Towards the Abolition of Punishment: On the Legacies of Louk Hulsman.   Anarchist Essays is brought to you by Loughborough University's Anarchism Research Group and the journal Anarchist Studies. On the Iran front, the "ceasefire" is doing ceasefire things: Iran seized two more ships and fired on three others, though the White House says it doesn't count because they weren't American or Israeli ships — so apparently it's only a war if we say so. Believe it or not, a War Powers resolution failed for the fifth time, with the Senate voting 51-46 to reject. The Secretary of the Navy was also ousted — not a huge loss given he was a campaign donor with no military experience who appeared on Epstein's flight logs — but perhaps not ideal timing during an active naval conflict. Elsewhere in chaos, Georgia Rep. David Scott passed away at 80, making him the fifth member of Congress to die in the past year and a half, tipping the House balance further toward Republicans; a Republican-appointed judge voided Virginia's newly approved redistricting map the day after voters approved it; Truth Social replaced CEO Devin Nunes — who was paid $47 million while the company earned $4 million — with someone described as a "corporate babysitter"; and condom prices are going up 30% because of the Iran war, which is somehow both funny and bleak. Climate scientists are warning that the Atlantic Ocean's key current system is closer to collapse than previously thought, and a UN report found that climate change is driving surges in gender-based violence globally. In tech and surveillance news, unauthorized users on a private Discord server guessed their way into Anthropic's restricted Mythos model; Madison Square Garden owner James Dolan is apparently running a full surveillance operation on fans, employees, and former players; Palantir's CEO dropped a 22-point manifesto about AI weapons and Silicon Valley's "moral debt"; and Sam Altman's eyeball-scanning startup falsely claimed a partnership with Bruno Mars, which Bruno Mars and Live Nation immediately denied. PLUS: Senator Warnock takes more verbal whacks at RFK Jr., and new polling bolsters Bottoms' grip on the Democratic primary . Oh, and Tucker Carlson's a liarThe Democratic Congressional primary in Georgia's 13th Congressional district now features an open seat, as longtime Rep. David Scott suddenly passed away earlier this week at the age of 80, bringing about yet another special election in Georgia this cycle, but also putting a pause on the primary race where many of Scott's opponents saw his age as a liability.Joining for insights into how her campaign may respond, plus provide her condolences, Georgia state representative Dr. Jasmine Clark. Also offering his condolences, Republican former Rep. Tom Price. - - - In Washington, Georgia's Reverand Senator Raphael Warnock had yet another opportunity to pelt Robert F. Kennedy Jr., with plenty of evidence that RFK is unqualified and unserious for the job as head of the Department of Health & Human Services.- - - Got a Keisha Lance Bottoms mailer, so maybe that's where her campaign funds are going? So far, it's still just Jason Esteves on the air, when Rick Jackson or Burt Jones aren't. I bring this all up (again) because even newer poling shows Bottoms' grip on the Democratic primary seems even stronger, and in run-off one-on-one's she still beats the field. While on that race, an internal Georgia Democratic party memo from chair Charlie Bailey evokes "bullishness" on Democrats winning that seat. - - - Not buying the Tucker Carlson apology shtick, but I do know he's just among the handful of rats hopping off the sinking ship. Nor am I giving room to the sudden pearl-clutching from MAGA after Virginia voters voted TO gerrymander (in response to Trump's mid-decade attempt to mitigate his midterm demise).

Astronomy Daily — Season 5, Episode 70 Monday, March 23, 2026   In today's episode, Anna and Avery cover six stories spanning a live European rocket launch attempt, a sixty-year-old NASA emergency brought back to life through newly surfaced photographs, a cosmic explosion caught only by its echo, the fight to preserve the night sky, a supply run to the ISS with an unexpected complication, and a first-of-its-kind discovery involving brown dwarf stars.   Story 1: Europe's Spectrum Rocket — Bid for Orbit Today Isar Aerospace's Spectrum rocket is attempting its second test flight today — its qualification mission for ESA's European Launcher Challenge. Launching from Andøya Spaceport in Norway, the mission carries five CubeSats and one experiment from European universities and companies, all supported by ESA's Boost! program. If successful, it would mark a landmark moment for European sovereign access to space. Source: ESA — Spectrum's Qualifying Second Launch Story 2: Neil Armstrong — The Gemini 8 Emergency Sixty years ago this month, Neil Armstrong and David Scott survived one of NASA's most dangerous pre-Apollo emergencies aboard Gemini 8. A spacecraft malfunction sent the capsule into an uncontrolled spin reaching one revolution per second. Never-before-seen photographs of Armstrong's recovery have been donated to the Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Source: Phys.org — Space News Story 3: Astronomers Catch the Echo of a Billion-Sun Explosion Using the ASKAP radio telescope in Western Australia, astronomers identified ASKAP J005512-255834 — a radio signal representing the most convincing "orphan afterglow" of a gamma-ray burst ever detected. The original explosion went unseen because its jet wasn't aimed at Earth, but the lingering radio echo has been detectable for over 1,000 days. Research published in The Astrophysical Journal. Source: The Conversation — A Cosmic Explosion With the Force of a Billion Suns Story 4: The Fight to Save the Night Sky The Royal Astronomical Society, ESA, and the International Astronomical Union have filed formal objections to the FCC over two proposed satellite constellations: SpaceX's application for up to one million orbiting AI data centre satellites, and Reflect Orbital's proposal for 50,000 space mirrors each four times brighter than the full Moon. Experts warn the proposals could permanently transform humanity's view of the night sky. Source: Space.com — Astronomers Protest Giant Orbiting Mirror Project Story 5: Progress 94 Launches to ISS — With a Glitch Russia's Progress 94 cargo spacecraft launched successfully from Baikonur on March 22, carrying around three tonnes of food, fuel, and supplies to the ISS. One of its KURS automated docking antennas failed to deploy after launch. Docking at the Poisk module is scheduled for March 24. If the antenna issue isn't resolved, commander Sergei Kud-Sverchkov will conduct a manual docking. Source: NASA — Progress Cargo Craft Launches to Resupply Station Crew Story 6: First-Ever Brown Dwarf Pair Caught in Mass Transfer Caltech researchers using the Zwicky Transient Facility have discovered ZTF J1239+8347 — the first-ever observed brown dwarf binary undergoing mass transfer. The pair orbit each other every 57 minutes at a separation smaller than the Earth-Moon distance. The system will eventually either merge into a single star or one dwarf will accrete enough mass to ignite fusion. Research published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. David Randolph Scott is an alleged predator that was caught in a Blount County, Alabama investigation of Takedown with Chris Hansen.  At the time of the sting, Scott had been living in Adamsville, Alabama with his wife. He also had two children, one 35 and one 38. Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon said that Scott did not have a criminal record.  Scott worked as a Toyota car salesman but was described as being "semi-retired" at the time.  Scott had been communicating with a decoy posing as a fifteen-year-old girl. He agreed to pay the girl $50 for a blowjob. Scott arrived to the sting house, but quickly turned around and drove off. A few minutes later, he returned to the house and parked in the drive way, greeting the decoy at the door. Once Chris came around the corner, Scott attempted to flee out the front door but was quickly apprehended by deputies. While being handcuffed, Scott stated that he was only "coming to visit." He denied ever meeting anyone online for sex in the past, despite his previous charge for soliciting prostitution. Scott did admit to knowing the decoy's age and requesting a blowjob from her, but claimed that he changed his mind.
