This week on HardLore features special guest Leah Massey, vocalist of the United Kingdom's absolute best and brightest new band: PEST CONTROL. The crossover band inspired by classics such as Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies also draws from some of HardLore's cult favorites like the Crumbsuckers, and Leah walks us through her journey from young emo kid, to discovering hardcore in Leeds' vibrant hardcore scene, to taking the natural next step to singing for multiple bands. ...Now she's on the cover of Kerrang, they've played Outbreak Fest multiple times, and Metal Hammer called Pest Control "The UK's most exciting new band." We're proud to welcome Leah to the show to tell her story in this fantastic conversation. Chapter I: They walked through Manchester with Jimmy Wizard, Higher Power's vocalist prior to Outbreak Fest 2023 and learned about Jimmy's entry into hardcore, Higher Power's evolution as a band, and much more. Chapter II: They sampled the apparent best of the best iced coffee that Manchester has to offer. Chapter III: They toured the menu at a British McDonald's and compared it to what they're used to at home. Hello…so, for some reason, the audio gods were against us on this - for whatever reason as soon as we started recording my headphones lead was interfering and making pops. We also had to stop towards the end and reset due to technical stuff, so that cost us a bit of time - but Reece has done his best to edit, polish it off and straighten things up. I maybe wouldn't listen to this loud with headphones on just for the pops. On the 53rd minute theres a heavy fuzz, it goes away after a minute. Sorry.Lesson learned - it was only my 2nd podcast and it was done away from home and I had very little time to work with the sound difficulties. So, please look past the fuck ups and listen to the great conversation - that said…Big love to Sam for agreeing to do this, he was one of the first people I asked when I came up with the idea of doing a podcast and he immediately said yes. We talk about his old bands, life in the UKHC/metal scene back in the early/mid 2000's, his influences, his tattooing career and his new music he's working on, Cave Walker (out hopefully the end of the year).100% go follow Sam and get booked in with him if you can, one of the best tattooists in the UK without a doubt. Well worth the travelling.Thank you again if you listened to the first episode or rated it/shared it - whatever, it all means a lot.Love you Reece, thanks as always.Cheers.Stodds x Hosted on Acast.
