Following a period of uncertainty (line-up changes and COVID-inspired roadblocks), Bury Tomorrow have spent the past few years laying out new paths with new possibilities previously thought unavailable resulting in a reinvigorated belief and fresh outlook on what the band can encompass. Now, they present ‘Will You Haunt Me with That Same Patience', their brand-new album, out now via Music for Nations / Sony Music UK. This isn't the best Bury Tomorrow album to date, in my opinion, but it's a mighty fine Bury Tomorrow album none the less. Whereas The Seventh Sun (2023) was them finding their feet following the significant line-up change, this is them in a brash and confident mood, emphatically reminding listeners of their metalcore prowess, while experimenting with more cleans and electronica than ever before. This album is good, and what it does is confirm that it's time to stop talking about who Bury Tomorrow were, and focus on what they are focusing on, the future. It's looking very, very bright. Read the full album review here: https://www.gbhbl.com/album-review-bury-tomorrow-will-you-haunt-me-with-that-same-patience-music-for-nations-sony-music-uk/ We had the pleasure of speaking with clean vocalist and keyboardist Tom Prendergast about the new album and all the hard work that has gone into it. Join Kris and I as we catch up from our last chat where Kris shares that he has since deleted all of his social media in the last few years. We get into how that has been for his personal and professional life, as well as the decision to step away from being a barber. We also discuss learning to become a fan of things again, reconnecting with the live show experience and finding new ways through old songs as we get older. Kris talks about how this approach really opened up his songwriting process on the bands upcoming album, Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience. How this album was a lot more collaborative than albums past, the idea of patience being something that can be haunting as well as necessary for growth. We get into some HIM talk, our favorite pizza spots in Chicago and more in this chat with the Bury Tomorrow guitarist. Probably my biggest release to date! Recorded in the best place in the world- the Barrowlands in Glasgow back in November. Like I said in the podcast, we had been trying to get this done for a couple of years and I'm glad we finally have, it sounds great and it's definitely the deepest dive into the Bury Tomorrow discography that's been done in my opinion. If you liked this I recommend checking out EP20 with Woody from Polar!Have a great day and again, a massive thanks to Jacko for doing this.Cheers x Hosted on Acast. We had the pleasure of interviewing Caskets over Zoom video! There's an art to looking back. For Caskets, it could have been easy to plough forwards regardless, riding the wave of success from their breakthrough debut ‘Lost Souls' that opened tours up across the United States and mainland Europe, and secured appearances at landmark festivals Download and Slam Dunk. But having swapped the bedrooms that fostered album number one for countless hours on the road, reflecting on that journey and the decisions that led them down certain paths quickly became unavoidable. Now tackling the realities of a busy band schedule, spending the best part of two years in shared tour buses and hotel rooms, those reflections have become collective. If ‘Lost Souls' was primarily driven by vocalist Matt Flood's personal experiences, sophomore album ‘Reflections' delivers a wider picture of Caskets as a whole, borne out of the usual interpersonal differences that all bands face at least once in their career. For some it marks the end, but for others it fosters a collaborative environment that pushes the music well beyond what has come before. The result reflects each individual member of Caskets, with Matt joined by guitarists Benji Wilson and Craig Robinson, bassist Chris Mcintosh, and drummer James Lazenby.A series of individual lessons, each track on the Dan Weller (Holding Absence, Bury Tomorrow) produced ‘Reflections' looks back at a specific moment in one of the band member's lives; a thought, feeling or events, and how that moment shaped the present. It's a step away from the singular retellings of ‘Lost Soul', and a concept that emerged as Matt reassessed his position in and commitment to the band. The subsequent reflections take very different shapes. The thunderous ‘Guiding Light' tells of the struggle in finding personal strength in the face of a broken relationship; the haunting ‘Silhouettes' lands on the immeasurable power of self-worth and how we should never change ourselves for others, while album closer ‘Better Way Out' spawns from the process of saving a loved one from suicide. “You can be who you want to be,” the song rings out with a soaring orchestral catharsis that surpasses all of Casket's contemporaries. The breadth and density of the subject matter is pulled together by the record's concept, ultimately forming the beating heart of the record. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Holding Absence over Zoom video! From the moment of our first breath to the very last gasp we take before we die, we never stop growing as people. Every trial and tribulation, every heartbreak, success and failure, every scar, blemish and wrinkle is another brushstroke illuminating our life's unique canvas. As Holding Absence frontman Lucas Woodland sings on “The Angel in the Marble,” the closing track on his band's outstanding third album The Noble Art of Self-Destruction (out now via SharpTone Records), we are, each and every one of us, “a puzzle, a painting, a work of art in the making.”Holding Absence's new album is a testament to how our life's story is never fully told, with opportunities for change and growth found in every moment, from the depths of despair to the euphoria of our greatest loves. Whether adding flourishes of colour to an already picturesque painting, or chiselling away at the marble to reveal the beauty within, The Noble Art of Self-Destruction – the final act in a trilogy of records encompassing the first chapter of Holding Absence's career – speaks to how we are each an unfinished work of art with new meanings and qualities waiting to be discovered.A record Lucas describes as a form of self-therapy that sees him more candid and comfortable with his emotions than ever before, The Noble Art of Self-Destruction brims with a level of energy, excitement and sheer weight of feeling that is unparalleled in contemporary alternative music. Whether Lucas and his bandmates – guitarist Scott Carey, bassist Ben Elliott and drummer Ash Green – are performing relatable anthems about imposter syndrome and self-loathing like massive singles “Crooked Melody” and “False Dawn,” gushing love ballads (“Honey Moon”) or existential reflections on suicide (“Death Nonetheless”), the four-piece's approach on their new album is packed with the kind of vigour that saw Kerrang! label them as British rock's “new leading light” and Loudwire proclaim the Cardiff natives to be “the UK's most exciting new rock band.”Recorded at Canada's Jukasa Studios with producer Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Bury Tomorrow), The Noble Art of Self-Destruction builds further into the lore of Holding Absence that sets them apart from many of their contemporaries. Taking influence from a varied array of sources including Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, sci-fi blockbuster Star Wars and the Japanese pottery art of Kintsugi, Holding Absence's new LP speaks to the desire of Lucas and his bandmates to create a project that exists as so much more than just a band.Having broken one million monthly listeners on Spotify and with top song “Afterlife” racking up in excess of 30,000,000 streams, The Noble Art of Self-Destruction looks a sure bet to bring even more success the way of Holding Absence, who've toured with the likes of Funeral For a Friend, Electric Callboy and You Me At Six. Previous LP The Greatest Mistake of My Life saw the band grace the covers of Kerrang! and Rock Sound, with glowing coverage from outlets including Loudwire, Alternative Press and Upset. The Guardian, meanwhile, praised Holding Absence as a band “making pop-rock anthems with rib-rattling drumming and mainstream appeal.”With that love only set to grow once The Noble Art of Self-Destruction is released, it's important for Lucas to emphasize how this album represents that what's come so far is just the beginning of Holding Absence's journey. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Bury Tomorrow over Zoom video! It's never too late to be what you might have been. Sometimes you just need a push to take the plunge. Few people would be greater advocates for this truth than Bury Tomorrow. Faced 18 months ago, following a period of external and internal strife, with the very real reality that it might be time to pack up their successes and close the book on a storied career of 15 years, with their hands forced and backs to the wall Bury Tomorrow instead picked up fate's gauntlet and set about writing the chapter they had always imagined. The Seventh Sun stands as testament to the bonds and belief required to shape themselves a new reality, a new sound, and a new future.Refocused yet no more restrained, the album's expanded sonic palette platforms sky-high melodies, layered with textured atmosphere, cloaking an underlying savagery. The thematic threads weaved through The Seventh Sun are met in kind by a throughline that musically stitches together each of its 12 tracks — an idea that guitarist Kristan Dawson has sought to execute for years. "Every single song sets up the next part of the record," he reveals. "I wanted it to feel like a one long body of work." In doing so, the album takes on its own kind its own sonic story-telling. "I feel like I was musically at where Dan was at lyrically," Dawson suggests. All of this combines, as Winter-Bates asserts, to exhibit "the best version of Bury Tomorrow people will have heard." Positivity, and possibility, now seems boundless, where not so long ago doubts persisted. "That is as much to do with Tom (Prendergast — keys/vocals) and Ed (Hartwell — guitar) joining the band as it is about the rest of us," Dawson notes. "I think we'd convinced ourselves at times that we weren't friends, when actually, we're family. You can't have this sort of life experience and not be and not be as emotionally connected to each other as we are."The guitarist points to the album's numerical title, saying, "You know, there is something in the number seven that is very representative of change. There's a renewal aspect to it — seven days in a week, seven hells, and so forth. And on our seventh album, that's the case for us, too. I hope fans hear how much we appreciate the opportunity we have to make music for them. It's an opportunity for us to showcase our love for, put our stamp on, and represent UK metal. What a privilege that is for us, and we're ready to prove that we're doing everything for those right reasons."We want to hear from you! They were almost done. After 15 years of manifesting some of the grooviest breakdowns and heaviest riffs, UK metalcore favorites Bury Tomorrow were ready to call it quits...until they didn't. And boy, are we glad they made that choice, because the new record, “The Seventh Sun,” has shaped up to be their best release since the band's inception. We are joined by drummer Adam Jackson and Keyboardist/Vocalist Tom Prendergast in this episode. We get the chance to chat with them about the new album, which also happens to the bands 7th studio release, and how this record has set the mark for Bury Tomorrow's most important chapter to date. Adams been here since the beginning, and he has plenty to be thankful for over the years, and that includes new members Tom Prendergast and guitarist Ed Hartwell. It's as if Tom and Ed were the perfect pieces this band needed to reignite the fire. Tom talks about his experience on first joining the band and giving his big contributions on expanding the sound on Bury Tomorrow. “The Seventh Sun” showcases the bands signature sound, while exploring other aspects of metalcore elements that have given this band a much needed retool. And for the better. To really dig deep and to find that passion again, Bury Tomorrow has been through the trials and tribulations. And now, the UK sextet could not be more excited to unleash this record and to be able to play the new songs in front of their growing and dedicated fanbase for years to come. Join Kris and I as we start out talking about our preferred brands when it comes to technology. We dive into how Kris and his bandmates almost called it a day during the pandemic, but how Kris used the time off to get centered and coming back to the band with a renewed sense of purpose, which you can hear all throughout their newest album The Seventh Sun. We also talk about Kris being an empathic person, and how he feels that effects both of his professions in music and as a barber. We talk about how being off the grid of social media can sometimes cause people to worry if they don't hear from you for awhile, touring in the states for the first time in over a decade and more in this fun conversation with the Bury Tomorrow guitarist. The unfortunate truth about some of our favorite music is that sometimes it comes from people who have done harm to others. On today's episode, Adam and Mike at least try to have a conversation about that idea and try to dissect it and how we personally navigate our way through that thought process when we are confronted with albums that we love. Please keep in mind that we'll be talking about sensitive subject matter and we in no way condone the actions of the people that we talk about. Our intention is to strictly attempt to open a dialog about the relationship between the listener and the art from artists that have likely hurt people in different forms. We hope that you understand. Thank you.
