Cannabis pioneer, co-founder of the non-profit medical cannabis dispensary Harborside,  Weed Wars reality TV star and Forbes Contributor Andrew DeAngelo speaks about a variety of topics related to plant medicine and cannabis legislation. One of his most passionate advocacy positions is to free every prisoner that has been incarcerated unjustly for cannabis and in many places where it has been decriminalized or in fact now even legal through the Last Prisoner Project.  His mission stems from a very personal family experience and it conveys how our personal experiences fuel an unrelenting persistence to advocate for change. Andrew is an exceptional individual who has made it his mission in life to help others navigate the confusing regulations and commercial aspects around cannabis.  Andrew has an important call to action for all of us on ways to get involved from the grassroots education, to voting, to personal entrepreneurship.  Even if you may not believe in cannabis decriminalization personally, I ask that you keep your mind open as Andrew provides a powerful playbook on how to have a successful advocacy and involvement program in how to invoke change on any single issue that you might be very passionate about currently in today's very polarizing cultural and political climate.  Andrew's is cannabis, and after you listen to our discussion, I believe you'll understand why exactly.  Resources mentioned: lastprisonerproject.org -------- Your feedback helps guide the future of the show! Andrew also lends his vast cannabis business and political expertise as a consultant for hire to the global community at large, including several strategic partnerships with the world's leading cannabis-centric service firms.Andrew led the design and development of gold-standard cannabis retail by innovating many “firsts” for the industry. These include: introducing CBD medicines to heal severely epileptic children as documented in Discovery Channel's Weed Wars, implementing the first lab-testing program in the history of cannabis dispensing, creating child-resistant packaging for edibles, standardizing inventory tracking, initiating senior outreach, and successfully preventing the federal government from seizing Harborside in forfeiture actions against the company in 2012.Andrew is co-founder and Chairperson of the Board for the non-profit Last Prisoner Project (LPP). LPP's mission is to free and re-integrate all cannabis prisoners on earth into mainstream society. Like many of us, we don't look like what we've been through. I can wholeheartedly admit that I became addicted to smoking weed. Now, I'm not saying I'm against it, but I just hope in you hearing my truth. You'll take the time out to reflect on your life, and to also support those who battle with addiction. I can say from my personal experience, it's easy to get lost in the sauce if you know what I mean. If you're battling an addiction whether you admit it to yourself or not. You know when you no longer have control. If you have family or friends battling addiction, I ask that you continue to love them unconditionally, and show compassion even if you don't know what's like. It's not always easy taking back control of your life. My heart goes out to the families that have to do more in order to counteract the decisions that does who've fallen short have made. I'm here with you. I love you. I pray for your families strength, and healing because the effects lingers down to all. It's easy to say it can't be you, but I never thought it could be me too. Next, we'll tell you what enabled the CBD craze to take root in America. Right now, CBD can be found in products all over boasting some kind of health benefits from pain management to treating anxiety and inflammation. But in 2011, a rag-tag group of doctors, activists, and writers met on a marijuana farm to think of a way to market it. CBD was featured on Discovery Channel's "Weed Wars" and the subject of A CNN special touting its benefits in treating epilepsy. Sen. Rob and Lesley are back with one last episode of 2011, and they go out with a bang. A lot has happened to our two lovebirds in the last few months including buying a puppy, learning how to sleep nude when a third-party is laying in your bed, and the sexy science behind sexomnia. They celebrated Christmas and Rob received a new prop to introduce to the bedroom while Lesley isn't having any of it. They both want to get behind the people on "Weed Wars" but they can't get past their ridiculousness, Lesley loves the people on "Moonshiners" while at the same time making broad generalizations about Southern people, and they chat about all of the stress that comes along with getting married. Lesley gets crazy deals, Rob goes crazy, and they would both like to wish Ari and Sarah congratulations in regards to their baby making and to Nate for making an honest woman out of Ingrid!

The Father of the Legal Cannabis Industry with Steve DeAngelo. Steve is a pioneering cannabis entrepreneur, activist, author, and on-screen personality. He co-founded several iconic cannabis businesses and organizations: Harborside, one of the first six dispensaries licensed in the US; Steep Hill Laboratory, the first dedicated cannabis lab; the Arc View Group, the first cannabis investment firm; and the National Cannabis Industry Association, the industry's first trade association. He currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of Harborside Inc, a vertically integrated California cannabis company. Steve's creative projects include a book, The Cannabis Manifesto; a Discovery Channel mini-series, Weed Wars; and a new weekly show, Ask Steve DeAngelo, on greenflowermedia.com. He was a lead organizer and fundraiser for I-59, Washington DC's medical cannabis initiative; and is most famous for his successful litigation against the Department of Justice, which halted DOJ's last-ditch 2011 campaign to shut down California's medical cannabis dispensaries. In recognition of these pioneering accomplishments, in 2015, former Speaker of the California Assembly and Mayor of San Francisco, the Hon. Willie L Brown called Steve the Father of the legal Cannabis Industry.
