The Endocannabinoid System We want to convey to the audience about the correlation to various health benefits and stimulating the endocannabinoid system. We want to use data to assure that these benefits are indeed coming from cannabis and are not a placebo effect. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2834283 “Upregulation of cannabinoid receptors is also observed in the spinal cord following nerve injury [150, 163], suggesting that both endocannabinoids and their receptors are regulated under conditions of injury” The Entourage Effect We want to highlight the importance of terpenes as well as cannabinoids other than THC when consuming cannabis. https://www.marijuanamoment.net/marijuana-entourage-effect-with-multiple-cannabinoids-produces-a-stronger-and-longer-lasting-high-than-pure-thc-study-finds/#:~:textBut%20a%20new%20study%20is,generated%20by%20pure%20THC%20products. “a new study is supporting the “entourage effect” theory, finding that cannabis products with a more diverse array of natural cannabinoids produce an even stronger psychoactive experience that lasts longer than the high generated by pure THC products.” The study utilized novel electroencephalog in ram (EEG) technology supported by AI to quantify the “high” people experienced when vaping two different products:1) a full-spectrum live rosin with average 85 percent THC as well as other natural cannabinoids and terpenes, and 2) a high purity THC oil with 82-85 percent potency. A total of 28 adults participated in the study, strapping on the EEG headset developed by the cannabis technology company Zentrela and taking two hits (8 mg) of either the full-spectrum or pure THC varieties from a vape manufactured by PAX, which also supported the study. After getting a baseline reading before the participants consumed the products, the EEG monitored activity in eight regions of the brain over the course of 90 minutes. The tests were then converted into “psychoactive effect levels (PEL) in a standardized scale from zero percent to 100 percent.” The results showed that the full-spectrum live rosin with THC and other cannabinoids and terpenes had a slightly earlier onset of three minutes, a higher potency reading for the onset (20.8 percent) and higher potency at the peak after 15 minutes (40 percent) and after 90 minutes (30.2 percent). The pure THC product's average onset was four minutes, with potency at 13.5 percent. At the peak, the potency was 19.1 percent, and that dropped slightly to 18.1 percent. Edible Ingestion (11-Hydroxy THC) Details: We want to educate our audience on the difference between THC & 11-Hydroxy THC, and why we as consumers should be cautious when dosing edibles. This episode I had the privilege to sit down with the courageous wife of a law enfocement officer, Danielle, who gives a broad overview of some of what our first responders are dealing with quietly, behind closed doors. We also discuss the possible benefits of plant based medicine therapy, such as cannabis. First responder agencies, whether it be the fire department, police department or a hospital are doing a perfect job regarding their employee's mental health, but some are doing nothing. There is no industry standard. The most important part of mental health is talking about it and destigmatizing the conversation and allow first responders to process the emotions of dealing with constant trauma. Systemically, the culture from within needs to foster a community of open communication instead of making those who have the courage to admit to dealing with mental health issues feel isolated and alone. Unfortunately names of people and departments had to be specifically left out, due to fear of retribuation against the first responders out there doing the work. This conversation, while yes does point out shortcomings, should be seen a teaching moment for agencies to talk to their people, change the culture, find out whats truly going on mentally and build a solid foundation of health and mental wellness. The message AJ has for the community is a very simple concept but hard in practice, and that is of having open dialogue and conversation and learning that we have more in common than we have different with one another. AJ has a background in military, EMS and was a former State Trooper. He discovered medicinal cannabis after having suffered a significant back injury requiring emergency surgery. He comes from a unique background and perspective into both law enforcement and the cannabis community. AJ hopes to have open but tough conversations from both sides of the table and learn to understand both sides just a little bit more. It is his mission to build trust with both communities and to help bridge the gap and provide both sides with the others perspective through his eyes and experiences in both worlds. AJ hopes to have tough conversations about trauma, emotional trauma, physical/mental trauma, overcoming trauma, personal demons, issues in law enforcement, and everything else. Nothing is off limits. AJ hopes to provide good information to both sides and bring the communities a little closer together. Thank you for listening. Note: AJ is no longer law enforcement and is not affiliated with any group. Everything on this podcast is based upon his personal experiences and perspective. He speaks for no agency nor does he speak for law enforcement. This is solely personal accounts, opinions, and recollections.
