Ep 172 Amin Lakhani - The Dating Coach on Wheels talks Comedy, Relationships, Imposter Syndrome, and Overcoming Life's Challenges (PART 1) At a young age Amin was diagnosed with a condition called Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, a degenerative genetic condition that affects nerves in the body causing difficulty moving and decreased sensation. He takes us through his journey of battling feeling "different" as an adolescent and what it was like growing up with CMT. In Pakistan, where Amin's family is from, disability is seen as taboo or a bad omen, but Amin's parents never let that influence him. They pushed him to go after his dreams and pursue them with tenacity. Through multiple surgeries and challenges associated with his condition, Amin continued to challenge himself to redefine what was possible for him to achieve. This eventually led to Amin interning at Google, graduating from an Ivy league school, and then earning a job at Microsoft after graduation. After all this success, he then wanted to improve his dating relationships and hired a dating coach to help him grow in that area of his life. Later, he dove into comedy to help him battle his own depression, to bring laughter to some of life's challenges, and to use humor to help others around him. Now, Amin is a dating coach, comedian, speaker, and writer working to help people use their challenges to help others and create their own unique magic in the world. In this two-part interview with Amin, he and I discuss: What it was like growing up with a degenerative genetic condition and some of the biggest lessons it taught him How to use rock-bottom moments to create momentum and shift the course of your life How to connect with people that have disabilities What he did to go from struggling to get a date to having too many options to choose from in his dating life The trap in the "Destination Fallacy" and how to avoid it How Amin used comedy to combat his depression How he has been able to face his challenges to live life without regrets And so much more! We've all felt it, that moment when time seems to not exist, we are doing something we love, something that is challenging, and every little problem seems to fade away, you are in the zone, you are in flow state. Today we talk about how to achieve those moments more often.

Big part of this podcast is to show that we are all little weirdos and that we're all in this together. Yes, you are very unique and you do things on your own that you'd never tell anyone, well sorry to break it to you, we all do these sick little twisted things and a lot has to do with dealing with our bodies.
In this episode I share the verbal instructions on Post Standing Qigong, a wonderful, healing, breathing exercise and meditation, I frequently practice and teach. I use these instructions to lead this exercise in class, and teach my students to perform at home. This exercise is perfect for total beginners. It is also a great place to begin if you are recovering from an injury or illness. Post Standing can also help if you are subject to the stress and tension so common in our modern world. Post Standing Qigong requires a minimum amount of space and no equipment. You can practice this Qigong as long as you wish. It is truly a simple and safe method that yields great results. Not quick results but slow drop by drop results that add up gradually to deep change. The instructions given in this podcast will help you to establish a good practice method. You can practice as long as you desire and you have enough strength. I encourage you to listen to my previous episodes about qigong particularly:Episode #10 "Protecting Your Qi" https://ancientwisdommodernhealth.com/episodes/10-secrets-to-protect-your-qiEpisode #8 "What is Qigong?" https://ancientwisdommodernhealth.com/episodes/8-what-is-qi-gong**New Classes Coming Soon!**San Rafael Community Center - New classes starting January 6th, 2020! We continue on in our journey of Health and Welnness with a study of vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals are needed to maintain optimum body health and to give us the nutrients we need to be at our best. There are a host of health benefits we can gain from vitamins and minerals, but we must incorporate specific plants and meats and proteins in our diet to accomplish this. We will discuss all of this tonight. Join us as we get real about vitamins and minerals. Tak to you then!
