We tend to think of "eyesight" as just needing glasses or not. But what if I told you that vision is actually a brain function, and if our kids are struggling visually, it could be impacting their learning, attention, and even behavior? In our chat, Dr. B doesn't just talk science — he gives us practical tips that any parent can use to support healthy vision for kids, especially in our screen-soaked world. He unpacks the sneaky signs of vision issues, why screen time isn't just an eye problem, and what we can actually do about it.But here's what might surprise you…Many children are misdiagnosed with attention issues when the root problem is vision-related.Eyesight and vision aren't the same thing (and that distinction is life-changing).The rise in screen time is truly affecting how our kids' eyes — and brains — develop. There's a simple at-home test you can do to check for red flags in your child's vision.Vision therapy is not just for kids with glasses — it's for brains that need support.Outdoor time isn't just "nice" — it's necessary for strong visual development.Functional eye doctors approach vision differently, and it's exactly what so many kids need. And yes, the 20-20-20 rule? It's real, simple, and super helpful! We also talk blue light, digital performance glasses, and how to balance a tech-filled life without turning into a screen-time tyrant.

Welcome to The Daily, where we go through the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. We are in the last chapter of Ecclesiastes. That means today we are 5 days away from starting the Gospel of Mark. Go to the website and grab the Scriptural Journal for this study so you can study along with us. Today, we're looking at Ecclesiastes 12:2-3: Before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars are darkened and the clouds return after the rain, in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men are bent, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those who look through the windows are dimmed— Ecclesiastes 12:2-3 Solomon shifts his tone here—what began as an invitation now becomes a slow descent into poetic realism. He's describing the gradual breakdown of the human body. The lights dim. Strength fades. Teeth are few. Eyesight fails. Age is creeping in. It's like a storm that just passed, but the clouds keep rolling back. You think it's over—but it isn't. The effects of time continue to accumulate, one layer at a time. The metaphors are vivid. The “keepers of the house” tremble—your hands. The “strong men” are bent—your legs and back. The “grinders” are few—your teeth. The “windows” are dimmed—your eyes. This is what happens when we age. Solomon isn't being cruel—he's being clear. This is reality. And he's urging us to take it seriously. The point isn't to fear old age—it's to respect time. To recognize that the life we have now, in all its mobility and clarity, won't last forever. So why delay obedience? Why postpone faithfulness? Why assume you'll always have what you have today? If you're still strong—use your strength. If you can still see clearly—open your eyes to truth. If you can still speak—declare God's goodness. The shadows of age are coming. And you who are older know what I am talking about. But you don't have to wait for the dark to live in the light. #LiveBeforeTheDark, #Ecclesiastes12, #DailyDevotional ASK THIS: What physical ability do you often take for granted? How has age or time humbled your perspective? What truth are you avoiding because you think you have time? How can you use your current strength to honor God today? DO THIS: Use your strength, clarity, and voice today for God's purposes—don't delay what you were meant to do now. PRAY THIS: Lord, thank You for the strength and clarity I still have today. Help me not to waste it, but to honor You with urgency and obedience. Amen. PLAY THIS: Graves Into Gardens.

He is currently the head of ophthalmology research at St Thomas', and founder of their KCL Frost Eye Research Department, one of the largest ophthalmology clinical trial units in the UK. “My ultimate goal, as a professor in glaucoma research, is to find a cure for glaucoma and prevent blindness.” “Vision is probably one of the most intimate and important sensory organs that a human being has.” “In the UK and Europe we have more choices, better suited for the patients, than they have in America.”

Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Podcast

Did you know that the more you wear your glasses, the stronger prescription you'll need?Contrast sensitivity loss is an eye problem doctors don't commonly check for. This condition affects the ability to differentiate between shades of grey, causing blurry vision, especially in low light. Carotenoids are antioxidants that protect the eyes against blue light, chemicals, damage from diabetes, and more. However, as we age, carotenoids decrease, so eye protection also decreases. Full-spectrum light can be helpful but will not solve the problem. To improve eyesight, you need to increase the efficiency of the retina. Sunlight is vital for eye and retina health. It allows UV and infrared light into the eye and can also help build up the eye's melatonin. You can increase carotenoids in the eye by consuming foods with lutein and zeaxanthin. Both carotenoids are found in egg yolks. If you choose supplements with lutein and zeaxanthin, look for one with at least 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin. Research has shown significant improvement in macular degeneration and contrast sensitivity loss in people who took lutein and zeaxanthin for 12 weeks. Ophthalmologist Dr. Chris Knobbe stresses the importance of removing seed oils from the diet and moving towards an ancestral diet for improved eyesight and eye health. Fatty fish like salmon contain omega-3s, which support eye health and reduce inflammation. DHA is vital for the brain and retina and is found in fish oil and cod liver oil.Vitamin D is critical for every part of the eye and can help with conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinopathy. Take at least 10,000 IU of vitamin D every day. Vitamin A is essential, especially for night vision. Zinc can also help!DATA:https://www.sciencedirect.com/science... Vitamin D3 Highdosage The Alternative to the Previous Therapy of Glaucoma: https://www.amazon.com/Vitamin-Highdo...

Over the past decade, most of us have converted our home lighting to light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs, as they save a significant amount of energy, requiring 75-90% less energy than older incandescent lights. Personally, I converted the 50 or lightbulbs in my house to nearly all LEDs.Most current LEDs emit, of course, visible light. But they also emit a significant amount of blue light and very little red and infrared (IR), in contrast to old-fashioned incandescent bulbs that emit some blue and a lot of red and IR. Remember when you had to change an incandescent bulb when it died? If you tried to unscrew it, it could burn your hand because the bulb was extremely hot. That's the effect of red and IR that generates heat. Change a LED bulb and you can do so immediately, as the bulb is cool, even after dying just moments earlier. This is due to the absence of significant amounts of red and IR.While well-intended to save energy, it is now becoming clear that the wholesale conversion to blue-emitting LED lighting has been exerting adverse health effects, especially visual. So let's begin talking about the role of light, specifically blue wavelengths in this episode of the Defiant Health podcast, then about the role of red and IR in a future episode. _______________________________________________________________________________For BiotiQuest probiotics including Sugar Shift, go here.A 15% discount is available for Defiant Health podcast listeners by entering discount code UNDOC15 (case-sensitive) at checkout.*_________________________________________________________________________________Get your 15% Paleovalley discount on fermented grass-fed beef sticks, Bone Broth Collagen, low-carb snack bars and other high-quality organic foods here.* For 12% off every order of grass-fed and pasture-raised meats from Wild Pastures, go here._____________________________________________________________________________MyReuteri and Gut to Glow can be found here: oxiceutics.comSupport the showBooks: Super Gut: The 4-Week Plan to Reprogram Your Microbiome, Restore Health, and Lose Weight Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health; revised & expanded ed
